I consider myself lucky to have grown up in a neighborhood that was predominantly black. My family was the only Mexican family in the neighborhood. My best friends whom I considered my sisters really shared their culture with me and my family. I will always consider myself as partially black. My heart is black and my skin is brown. I always stand with my black sisters and brothers in god. To my best friends Faye and Ruthie you both had a positive impact on my life. You both were very supportive of me when I was suffering from abuse. You guys held me when I cried. Both of you were more like my sisters than my blood sisters. I will always love you both.

Street gangs fought with bats, bricks, chains, and pocket knives. I remember it ALL-- from "Now & Laters" hard candy to Parliament & FUNK-a-DELIC ... Being Black back then was a very different kind of an experience. 🤔 And truthfully... none of it would have ever meant ANYTHING without SOUL TRAIN!!!

1970 I was 12 years old, going through the three channels that we had at the time and stumbled across the soul train. When my friends were listening to crap music, I was listening to R&B mainly Detroit R&B I couldn’t get enough of it to tell you the truth I never missed soul train, although the saying is true, white dudes can’t dance was a part of my repertoire. I wanted to be on soul train so bad and my friends didn’t understand why I love R&B the way I did and do rest in peace Don.
Soul train was a great part of my youth those were great times life seem more joyful family's more together no cell phone no cable but we had soul train good times the Jefferson looking back i see how important these shows were there never wii be a time like that again .❤
I remember watching Soul Train on Saturday afternoons. Seeing beautiful, talented black people was extremely rare on local TV stations with exception of local newscasts. 1970 I was 12 years old, going through the three channels that we had at the time and stumbled across the soul train. When my friends were listening to crap music, I was listening to R&B mainly Detroit R&B I couldn’t get enough of it to tell you the truth I never missed soul train, although the saying is true, white dudes can’t dance was a part of my repertoire. I wanted to be on soul train so bad and my friends didn’t understand why I love R&B the way I did and do rest in peace Don.

I remember watching Soul Train on Saturday afternoons. Seeing beautiful, talented black people was extremely rare on local TV stations with exception of local newscasts. Fashion Fair and Ultra Sheen commercials really present black models. It's so tragic that Donald Cornelius took his own life.(Love, Peace and Soul to you, My Brother)

I loved watching Soul Train every Saturday with my siblings.We even formed our own Soul Train line 😂😂 and still to this day oldest sister at 68 still dancing and jumping around like the dancers from Soul Train 😂😂
