@@theghostofmaximumvolume3414 Who? Yeah… I do know who they are but I would not consider them super bands. Yes they have followers, but they do not have the same type of global following as U2. I traveled from the east coast of the United States to see them. I met people who had come up from Australia. Not many people would to travel to a place like the Sphere in Las Vegas and fill a 20,000+ seat venue for over 40 shows. On further reflection on this, I think one of the few other performers, who could do this at the same scale of selling out that many shows at a single location might be somebody like Taylor Swift.
When I’m down, and when I need to cry, I put this on, close my eyes and let the tears flow. Thank you U2 for being there for me through my whole life. ❤️😎🎤

Oh my goodness! This was the most amazing version I have seen and heard of this song! On our anniversary a few years ago, my husband and I were fortunate enough to see U2 perform in Nashville at Vanderbilt stadium. This song was one of the encores. Bono called up a blind man who was a guitarist. I forgot the blind gentleman‘s name. But he played the guitar, dedicated the song to his wife and tears welled up in my eyes. My husband and I were on the first row of the second tier at the stadium. So we had plenty of room in front of us. We started to dance to this song and sing it to one another. Slowly but surely, several other couples joined us. It was a magical moment. Thank you for this incredible performance!
Mau Ferrusca Is this version available to download from any site? Woukd luv it in one of my U2 playlists. The orchestra is awesome. Similar to power if singing with Pavorati (sp.?).
Slane 2001: "All I want is f*** you man!" Yes indeed that was something ;) I believe all the live versions of that song are great, because they are unique, and always quite different. I wish they had played it with an orchestra more often, just like in the original record. ;)
I sing along and think of my wife and mother of my first child who passed 8 years ago. Tears in my eyes. U2 have helped me through. I’m so grateful for their songs and the love I knew.
I first heard U2 at back at live Aid and was blown away. I said to my brother these Guys have a sound all thier own and they are going places. I have not missed a show sice they started touring. I have been fortunate enough to afford better seating at thier concerts and was able to meet and speek with Adam Clayton on thier last pass through Philadelphia. That's the Irish for you, super modest. The day an Irish person thinks they're great will be a sad day. It's only for everyone else to think that. I love being Irish. I never think I'm better than anyone else, neither do these guys.
I'm not gonna lie- Seeing U2 look at the orchestra playing... U2... was kind of bittersweet. I'm younger than this song, and I get the feeling most of the musicians accompanying them are in the same boat- playing with not your contemporaries, but your forbearers and playing THEIR PIECE, must be incredible, and U2 must have felt something special watching them close out the song in such a perfect way.
I love that the orchestra played the original string arrangement and I absolutely love watching the live between Bono and Edge towards the end. True brothers.
Except two were born in England and one of those is Welsh 😂. Larry and Bono both Dublin born so you can guess the other two 😉. I don't know what the BBC know but I know you're quite right with your opinion that they have written some of the greatest music in history 😉
In fairness Jules, they all grew up on the northside of Dublin. Adam Clayton lived there from the age of five and The Edge, who had welsh parents, from the age of one.
God I love U2 . I was born in 72, I became aware of them probably ten years later. Have adored them ever since. I have been lucky enough over the years to get to see them live. They never fail to leave me breathless!
We need a massive, worldwide U2 tour w/ full orchestra. No elaborate staging, no gigantic spectacle. A stage, a catwalk, some lights, 4 blokes, and an orchestra.
Mike Zazworsky yes your right sorta .there is a state of the art sound system and drums and.bass and gutair and microphones .it's still technical it just dosent look it
Jake Jenkins First off, you're a moron. Second, of course they won't do it. It would be cool to see it done. That's all. Third, what in the sweet holy f-ck is there to "understand"? The fact that they're the one major band to NEVER tour w/ auxiliary musicians on stage? Yeah, that's not a terribly complicated notion to grasp. Now, they've never had an issue having Dallas play a 2nd guitar beneath the stage where nobody can see him, & they certainly don't have an issue playing along w/ backing tracks, so why in the hell would playing w/ an orchestra be such a stretch?
