Any idea what make his acoustic bass is? I can’t make out what it says on the headstock… and yes, great and modest bass player. It shone through on their first US #1, With Or Without You.
Love this song and performance so much. You really see Bono’s showmanship as he engages the audience and guests as it builds towards the end. Never tire of his voice.
There is only one word to describe this performance " MAGIC". It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Does anybody have a time machine and tickets to this show? Such a special moment, I would be ecstatic if I could experience this in person.
I love Fallon's face while he's sitting there watching them play. It's almost like his whole laugh flashes before his eyes and he says to himself, "how the hell did I get here?" This was probably the most memorable moment I've ever seen on entertainment television. What a prefect night.
Well said!! Fallon's no slouch as a rock musician himself, and I think that's pretty much exactly what he's thinking. These are the kind of magic experiences we lived for in the hippie days -- it was very emotional for me.
Look at Bono When he performs, he doesnt just sing it, He feels it all through his body.... Every Word... Legend is an often overused term to describe average musicians. This man is an untouchable LEGEND
This is what makes this performance even better. This is why great musicians must be listened live, they are able to make a deep connection between them and you.

Same here :). I'm your age and my dad also showed me U2 'cause he is great fan of them. The only differences between us aer this that my first U2's song was "Get on your Boots" and unfortunetly I have never been to their concert...
same! I'm your age too, I fell in love with the miracle. and this year we finally got to see them live (: (my parents had been there before but me and my brother were too young back then) and it was breathtaking.
This is the magic of live music, isn't it? This song just takes on a life of its own, as the energy just builds through the first verse into the second, then the Roots kick in, and the next thing you know everyone's clapping and totally into it--pure awesomeness! It's cool enough to see the video of this, but just imagine the experience if you were lucky enough to be in the audience. Way cool, and after all these years, U2 can still bring it!!!
Just goes to show how amazing Bono's voice is. No studio effects to cover, alter or boost his vocals to something they're not. These more intimate performances take me to a fresh appreciation of U2. My all-time favorite band. 🥰

Bono is such a passionate singer. Love his voice and the energy between the band and their puplic. Doesn, 't matter where they go, there is that speciale energy. 😊👍❤️
I’ve always been into R&B and Bollywood pop songs, so while I was aware of U2, I never really listened to their music. But after watching this video about 50 times, I dove into all their songs and can’t believe I missed out for so long. Bono’s voice is magical-it’s soft, gentle, and powerful all at once. The quality of their music is incredible. Now I’ve even started getting into Coldplay! Not sure if this is just a phase or if my music taste is changing for good, but I’m loving this discovery!
Can't believe this was 7 years ago. I remember that they were the first musical guests and Will Smith as the first celebrity guest from Jimmy Fallon's debut on the tonight show. It was during a bittersweet time in my life when this aired because I lost my Uncle about 3 weeks prior to this and he was a huge U2 fan!! So to see U2 perform on the tonight show was very sentimental and moving. 💔 MISS you Tio!!
Masterful song. Probably my favorite of all time. Been to see Fallon 3 times over the course of 3 years 2013-2016. I remember watching Jimmy's first show and I remember Robert Dinero but not sure about Will. Dosen't matter bc Jimmy's great. So multi talented.... I am very sorry about your Uncle. May he rest in eternal peace 🙏✝️....

Same here :). I'm your age and my dad also showed me U2 'cause he is great fan of them. The only differences between us aer this that my first U2's song was "Get on your Boots" and unfortunetly I have never been to their concert...
Vertigo got me into them my band
same! I'm your age too, I fell in love with the miracle. and this year we finally got to see them live (: (my parents had been there before but me and my brother were too young back then) and it was breathtaking.
+Ford Rages I thought this was gonna be one of those "Im only 15 and I listen to good music" comments, but I was wrong. Nice.
Same exact for me, im just not lucky enough to go to a concert
I've watched this over a thousand times, and I'll never get tired😍
same
+Vanelly Morais been there
+Vanelly Morais now I just stop by every day '-'
me neither, it's great!
exactly the same for me!
This has got to be one of my favorite live performances ever. So good!
Great tune and band. We tried with my friend from R&O to review this great song. Maybe we succeeded, maybe not, we let you be the judge if you have two or three minutes to spare and a thumb up or down to add, come listen and judge us here :-) : ua-cam.com/video/yiUkR6YUNgU/v-deo.html and stay saf
Same here I watch it and play it on my acoustic regular such a great song and prefer to album version as do wi many other live performers from the great artists
Very true.. I don't understand why this song hit me so late.. isn't there an official video for this song?
Me too. From Brazil..14_11/2020
Same and oh so relevant present day more than ever!❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶
When you can sing this good with acoustics that says it all. Pure talent. Nothing else.
Bono's voice teleports me to some unknown part of the universe ❤️
this performance is amazing. so pure and beautiful
You are beautiful
Just brilliant! I love the way Roots just fitted into the music so effortlessly. You just can't beat great musicians.
Awesooooome
Maybe one of the best live performances of all time
look the face of Willy Smith, he is enchanted.
Fact
antonello santini I’ve known some beautiful singers and talented musicians. when you’re in a room with them just jamming or singing it’s magical.
I’ve been known to cry at least once.
He's trying to remember the lyrics of Why Why Wes, in case he's next
@@JTcomments AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH i literally spit coffee all over HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH good one! :D

THAT IS TRUE TALENT, NO BULLSHIT
lol true, always disliked bono and his stupid glasses but dam, these guys were/are huge for a reason.
he has glaucoma so light messes with his eyes big time so he has to wear sunglasses to help that. But I hated it for the longest time just like you till he gave a solid reasoning as to why
long live to the good music, just the beauty of a guitar and a good voice, long live to rock music
The sea wants to kiss the golden shore
The sunlight warms your skin
All the beauty that's been lost before
Wants to find us again
I can't fight you anymore
It's you I'm fighting for
The sea throws rocks together
But time leaves us polished stones
We can't fall any further
If we can't feel ordinary love
And we cannot reach any higher
If we can't deal with ordinary love
Birds fly high in the summer sky
And rest on the breeze
The same wind will take care of you and I
We'll build our house in the trees
Your heart is on my sleeve
Did you put it there with a magic marker?
For years I would believe
That the world couldn't wash it away
'Cause we can't fall any further
If we can't feel ordinary love
And we cannot reach any higher
If we can't deal with ordinary love
Are we tough enough
For ordinary love
We can't fall any further
If we can't feel ordinary love
And we cannot reach any higher
If we can't deal with ordinary love
We can't fall any further
If we can't feel ordinary love
And we cannot reach any higher
If we can't deal with ordinary love

Bono the poet.
Bravo
You have to be a very special type of musician to sit there and belt out something so magical like that. One of the greatest bands that have ever been. We will never see anyone like them again. May they continue for a lot longer.
YES- A SPECIAL BAND
Magnificent❤
he knows exactly what he’s doing with the mic and his voice and holy shit imma melt

One of the most precious live session ever .
The synchronised foot tapping is basically all I can see since noticing it haha... such a good performance!!
His voice is awesome I watched the live version 10 years ago and was blown away with how you could feel the sincerity in his voice.
Is it magic? I can't stop watching it in 2019
Same bro
No, it's real.
Thank you for sharing the date you personally watch the video. It's all about you, and so fascinating to everyone else. Not sure why someone feels the need to post this on every single music video.
Love... wich is basically the same
Oh! You too?
This has to be the best live performance in this type of setting.
The pure raw talent is unreal ²(2)
Breda? Nederland?
This is so amazing. U2 is such an honest, talented band.
I watched over and over this session and enjoy everytime the moment the spark ignites to my soul- and it’s doing again- thank you U2 for all your music brought to me👌

Me gusta 👍🏼
Dude... Jimmy has the coolest job.
U2 has always been one of my favourite bands...this performance takes their talent to whole other level. Wow!
This little band from Ireland NEVER fails to entertain, love what Bono said " I joined a band to look cool for a girl, (his wife) and I still am..
Bono’s talent is unmatched. Very few people sing as well as he does live.
These guys should start a band.
u serious?
👍😊
What ?
@@olex11w57 why do you all think lol ? he's fucking joking like jeez.
Yeh with band name "Will you too"
