Quite a tricky consultation, I probably wouldn't know these numbers off the top of my head or explaining the condition in simple terms - well done. But the ending was a bit strange - so she is worried about Down's syndrome, but no actual risks identified, no tests or scans done yet. The conclusion is that she will discuss with husband and read about Down's syndrome before making a decision how to proceed. Just not sure what decision exactly, she is not expressing any doubts about pregnancy and procedures like amniocentesis are not on patient's request as far as I know? But yeah, difficult case for management plan/follow up as outside of actual GP scope of practice, this is all managed by midwifes nowadays and obs if needed.
Ver well done. used time effectively. excellent use of pauses. explained Down's succintly but appropriately. 0.12 - "found out I'm pregnant." - Dr's response Congratulations was instantaneous. What if this was an unwanted pregnancy? Rather " How do you feel about it ?" may have been appropriate.
Most places will have it quoted at around 1 in 100. For further information on amniocentesis please read the following: www.nhs.uk/conditions/amniocentesis/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Thought this. I have also been embrarassed a few times in an unplanned pregnancy.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Mother:"I just found am pregnant"
Doctor:"Congratulations!"
Mother:"I want a termination!"
Doctor:Ops
So the Doctor should not congratulate initially till he finds out what is the patient's main concern.
It is a good point.
Nice to you Saba
great video
What is the blood pressure and abdominal exam is doing in this scenario?? She just found out that she is pregnant. Talking about work was irrelevant.
Its to build rapport with the patient
How would this consultation be graded? So that we can note points from it.
Time to screen was not mentioned, but over all Nice
Is this real.or are they acting lol
