I've just come back from the doctors my review Q - risk is at 15 % I am 63 years old I'm on BP medication but I'm a non smoker and not really overweight, borderline on my cholesterol 6.2 . He will monitor me but only puts patients on statins with a risk factor of 20%.

There is cholesterol in every body cell, made by the liver so that’s the natural part and in my mind best left alone. Heart disease is not a statin deficiency. Statins don’t remove the cause of high cholesterol. It’s the oxidised LDL cholesterol i.e. rancid cholesterol in your blood stream that causes the build up in the arteries. (HDL cholesterol sends LDL cholesterol back to the liver to be converted to energy). The special ingredient that causes heart disease is inflammation of all blood arteries and capillaries including those in the brain etc and oxidative stress. Inflammation is caused by too much glycogen in the blood from eating processed foods that breakdown to include high levels of glycogen, and of course sugar and any foods contains it. Our bodies weren’t designed to have a constant high level of glycogen in the blood. Our main energy source should come from fats and certain vegetable oils like virgin olive oil etc. To naturally lower cholesterol, as the Dr said, loose weight, eat less carbs, get loads of exercise, eat oily fish like mackerel and line caught salmon, and virgin olive oil. The olive oil satiates you so you have less chance of over eating and lubricates the blood vessels to reduce the chance of the LDL cholesterol sticking to the blood vessels’ inside wall. I’m not a medic so don’t rely on this for your health before speaking to a professional.

I know this probably not a real patient , but to say his BMI is borderline over weight is a bit ridiculous.

She fails to ask any detail questions about his diet. She spends the time suggesting he exercises more . Eating grilled meat for lunch or dinner is not going to make you overweight .

Have the burger without the bun. Problem solved.

provided information that the patient clearly did not specifically inquire about. NNT. Just made the consultation complex and tiring

You know how you can tell this was staged? No doctor in the United Kingdom would spend this amount of time with a patient!😂
