It’s so wonderful that so many animals have chosen humans to be their pals, their moms or dads and these are wild animals. It’s really magical. I just love it and it makes me so happy. You’re so kind ma’am.
Generally, Aussie magpies are omnivores, but things other than invertebrates and insects are not easily digested by them and should be avoided. As shown in the video, this one was being fed mealworms. If you don't have meal worms, you need to get a very special dietary supplement to add to other meats so they can eat it properly. As always, contact your local wildlife carers and ask what you should feed them (or even if you should).
It is lovely to see the connection you have with her. Even if she finds a mate in the (near) future, I think she will most certainly visit you on a regular basis. She sees you as part of her family 🙂
There's this lady in Australia who's an introvert who befriended a few magpies, who sent their fledglings to go play in her yard since she set up a playground for them, she later on became a wildlife rehab specializing in magpies, taking care of babies that fell from nests with her flock socializing them.
I am almost positive that bird is male. Males are much more assertive and inquisitive, and I think the little fellow have a crush on her. Not that it really changes much, its just what we call the little difference
Magpies and Kookaburras seem to rule in Australia. They're smart and cheeky. Very cool that you nursed this magpie back to health. Thanks for posting this.
Sounds hilarious but this cutie birdie wants to be part of your beautiful family and you are her chosen one! Birds are intelligent too and simply amazing!
I totally agree with you. Not only are they very industrious if you watch them for a long period of time you become amazed by their efforts to survive. I learned a lot from the birds from their behaviours, how they strategise and operate as a group from networking and helping each other to individual behaviour. Such a blessing the animal kingdom. X
Yes. She has chosen this family. But beware. This little ferret may NOT EVER want to leave. Our first baby magpie that came into care would have no part of being reunited with her kind. Nope. We were her family as far as she was concerned. Had her own ‘house’ to sleep in, played and slept with our dogs, and even trained THEM to protect her and became VERY territorial of HER yard. Would sticky beak on others we had in care and more than a few times I had to sweep her out of our ‘care’ room. Love magpies to bits but boy they are VERY demanding. We should all write a book on their shenanigans. 😅
@@dalehoward5416you're living the dream! We have corvids in America, and they're wonderful. My grandmother rehabilitated many wild crows in her time. Her parents thought she was crazy, but she blazed her own trail regardless. She was a brilliant and educated woman, and I hope one day to follow in her footsteps.
Nah, chances are she'll not only bring her mate around but any little ones they have will most likely be left with Leonie while the parents head out for food, like a kind of daycare
Imagine if our actual (human) kids were as interested in EVERYTHING we do, like this magpie! We love and take care of our animals. And they make our lives so much more enjoyable and complete.
That wee bird loves that woman forever for saving her and showing her such kindness, patience and acceptance. I bet the cuddles are on demand and unlimited, too. Who doesn’t want to be loved liked that little bird is loved.
I think anyone who's fortunate enough to have a relationship with an Australian 🇦🇺 Magpie is blessed with a greater understanding of nature. I'm glad she's a come and go at leisure pet and not in a prison cage for entertainment. Hopefully when she does find herself a mate, she'll return with him and their young and the process will repeat itself. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful story 👍😀
This is so adorable. It's amazing how wildlife chooses man to make connections with. This lady is very blessed to have a relationship with this beauty.
This is so sweet what a wonderful woman and bird! Thank you for your kindness we need more of you in the world, I’m off to check out your books! 🥰🏴🇬🇧
It's so heartwarming watching the magpie trying to get her attention. So cute. I have a mild fear of birds but if some bird chose me as there friend I'd lose my fear too. Hopefully.❤❤
I wish I could find a birdie buddy like that.... I just help the finches in my backyard but they never come back and visit, but they do bring their babies to my yard because they know it's a safe place and I tend to feed them when they sit outside my window and squawk until I come out. 😊❤😂
It is incredible how much social interaction these magpies need, and the length some of them will go to, just to satisfy their need to belong in a group. Still, it is funny and entertaining to watch when it goes well and their human friends have the magpie's best interest in mind.
I don’t know how you do it. Baby magpies are sooo loud and demanding. It always makes me smile when I see them with their parents, but I always feel sorry for the parents as well. But well done, a great story.❤️
Such a wonderful story and delightful outcome! Being included in any animals life is such a blessing, so much fun. 💖 Obviously she connected to your energy and your heart right off. I suspect that continuing to maintain your friendship will be part of her mate partnership agreement. ❤💞❤ As it should be. 🤩
I love birds and have had many wonderful exchanges with them. When we interact with them thru love, they return that love. Its a Soul to Soul vibration that is deeply felt by both💖
I assure this lady that when the time comes and the magpie flys off because she has a mate and probably will have eggs and rear young, but I assure this lady she will not forget her kindness and she will return to see this lady again 💯% certainty on that and I hope the lady keeps us updated about this lovely little bird 🥰
It's so important we maintain our connection with the natural world. She chose you and that's a point worth considering. It's amazing she has a relationship with your two dogs.😄 It's as if they grew up together. You live in a more natural setting too. She seems like a joy to have around. She likes the computer because it radiates heat and keeps her warm. They are such a lovely member of the Corvidae family. We have lots of Black Crows and Blue Jays here in New England. Sadly no Magpies. 🐦⬛🐦
This IS ABSOLUTELY 💯 AWESOME. YOU ARE WONDERFUL WITH HER AND SHE IS SUCH A CHARACTER. YOU ARE VERY BLESSED 😇 AS IS SHE. ❤ I DIDNT UNDERSTAND THE IMPRESSION AND AFFECTION THAT A BIRD CAN LEAVE ON YOU UNTIL I HAD THE BLESSED OPPORTUNITY. A LITTLE STARLING I NAMED MEEPS, AT 2 WKS OLD SHE FELL ROUGHLY AROUND 30 FT OUT OF THE NEST ONTO CONCRETE GROUND WITH A SIBLING. MEEPS SURVIVED BUT BADLY DAMAGED HER NECK AND THE OTHER CHICK WAS INSTANTLY KILLED. IT WAS THE MOST SINCERE BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN US FOR 6 WEEKS, TEACHING HER TO EAT AND HOP AROUND WITH A LITTLE FLIGHT, SADLY MEEPS DIED IN MY ARMS, I CRIED SO HARD AND I FELT HURT FOR WEEKS. I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL TO MEEPS AND GOD FOR AN UNMEASURABLE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP AND EXPERIENCE. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU BOTH SAFE ALWAYS. LOVE FROM SCOTLAND 🏴 XXXX ❤
When she finds her birdie mate, I wouldn't be surprised if he started coming in, too. You are too important to her for you not to be involved in raising her babies. You are now, and will forever be, her family.
Maggie's are my all time favourite birds, I love the way they stay up on bright nights and sing to each other. They are also the only bird's I recognise by the sound of there wings, for obvious reasons.

And we fancy ourselves the the superior species on our diverse planet?
This active little bird begs to differ.
She seeks only companionship.
She's still a baby, she must have lost her mother.
@@hereandthere6001 The interspecies bonding is a wonder!
Still, it would be fitting if she could latch on to some good looking male avian.
Yea...look who's the pet now! 😅

That’s wonderful!!
AWW, you are so lucky. I'd love that.❤️

She's such atypical baby Aussie Magpie Lol 💕
