Man, I'm glad someone shares the opinion that the Bulls did well to get giddy. Everything I see regarding this trade says the Bulls organization screwed up for not getting a first from OKC for Caruso. I guess I'm still high on Giddey but I think him alone is a good enough asset, and I agree he does have all-star potential, even tho a lot of people dont
Yeah I would rather have a 21 year old with potential right now than bank on a pick that we don’t even know who it is right now.
Great trade for Bulls and OKC, Bulls get a high level potential all star with production for possibly 10+ years
OKC get a championship level starter who can make winning plays on and off the ball and is still young enough to help OKC for 3/4 years

I agree that Giddey is being underrated right now based on how the playoffs went and I think its smart that the Bulls bought low on Giddey since they have nothing to really lose right now. I just feel like the bulls had leverage in the trade given that Caruso's value is high and could have gotten a pick in return in the deal. Especially since OKC already has a ton of FRPs and FRP swap rights, I think if the bulls put thier foot down they could have gotten at least one pick plus Giddey
Yeah that could very well be true. I think what happened in this case is that there were a lot of teams that were interested in both those guys, so they just said eh let’s get this done right here right now.
I might need to watch Giddey more. He was nice during his rookie season and this season I didn’t watch as much. Far as Monty coming from a Pistons fan, he's not a bad coach, but he was bad for us. Both sides are to blame because Gores have him an offer he couldn't refuse after he declined. However Monty never challenge plays, didn't play the young guys right, had no passion or care about the team. The team needed a leader and he just cared about the money.
It’s a damn shame. Yeah hope Monty is all good. At least he getting paid haha!

I've been rooting for OKC to get Giddey and was a fan since predraft. As much as I hate Josh leaving, I have to say that it's probably a win/win situation for both sides. Caruso would work much better in OKC system and his defense is going to be a difference maker I believe. Also he's reuniting with OKC and coach D after 7 years or so. Really nice addition and hopefully he will sign relatively cheap contract.
Giddey on the other hand has really high ceiling and as our host mentioned, he's probably one of the better basketball minded players. High IQ and always knows what to do with the ball. Passing is just insane. He is really good rebounder and has nice floaters. Might be not the quickest and most explosive player but still he can find a way to the basket.
I truely believe he will reach his potential with Chicago if management don't screw this up.
Additionally for people who think he sux and played bad last season...if you followed OKC games and the offcourt situation, then you see that Giddey started to play really well at the season end, the time when there were rumours (or maybe it was even official) that he's not guilty. You can imagine that for a 21yo with so bright future that could be ruined by the situation it was difficult times and when he finally got the information, he simple started playing basketball again. On a high level.

i think its clear in detroit Monty just didnt care, he was simply offered too much money to pass the job up and he half assed the thing in a hopes of getting fired. He was making rotation decisions that are just mind boggling and im not even a pistons fan and it was making me mad. For example ofc everyone knows but playing killian hayes over jaden ivey and not staggering cade n ivey minutes was the worst. How do you get cade back and proceed to lose more games because of it?
That’s my thing. The decisions were so bad that I refuse to believe they weren’t influenced by something else. I know there were reports of some talks they had but I don’t know. I’ll talk to some Detroit guys once this all blows over.
I was hoping Josh would go somewhere he can play starting PG, but with Colby White there I don't know if that's gonna happen. Do you think Giddy could be a number 1 option?
I don’t think he is supposed to be a #1 option. I think he should be a primary initiator. Yeah he’ll get to do it. Coby is better off as an off ball player imo.
alex's value at its peak swapped for giddey's value at its lowest... caruso is an all defensive player and giddey is a potential bust (who knows how good he will be in chicago there is no guarantee). i like the idea of getting more talent but without ANY picks attached? im sorry its your favorite team but i think this is objectively not a great return especially when there were offers for multiple frp for caruso
Yeah I do see that opinion shared a lot so I feel ya.
I think people gotta drop the “we got offered more picks earlier” part though. Like yeah we all know the right answer was to trade him then, but they didn’t. Now we’re here and his value is a little bit lower now.
I think this was best case scenario at this point, I’ll take the 21 year old with upside right now over waiting for an unknown pick number. That’s just me though.

OKC fan here, its really refreshing to watch a Bulls fan having a brain for once. Giddey is a good basketball player. A 21 yr old with a 3yr NBA exp on a winning team and playoff experience as well. At 21 he still has a lot of room to develop too! This is a win-win trade for both. I hope he does well and balls out next season on weaker eastern conference. I would love to see him on a triple double tear and win MIP. Best of luck to you and your NBA career Josh! You'll always be appreciated in OKC
Appreciate the love! Yeah Bulls fans are just sick of feeling like they lost trades. Like yeah they messed up not trading him in season. But now we’re here, and this was the best we could do in our new situation. Can’t go back in time haha. I’m excited about this move.
With Monty I think it was a real lack of shooting on the team. I’m sure he had plays and sets he wanted to run, but some of the personnel weren’t ready in terms of development for those sets yet.
It was mostly the rotation to me. It was just so dumb that I swear someone was making him do that.

This seems like a home run for the bulls to me. I’m really not getting the hate. Giddey is a young guy who has flashed big things available on the cheap because of off court drama and a bad team fit. Good trade for okc, great for bulls

@@rcktmvp7 we were also hoping for the pick or at least a swap but I think that's a reasonable deal for both sides. And who knows...maybe it's not the only agreement between Bulls and OKC.
The trade makes sense from both sides given their situations, but really like it for the Bulls. Giddey is already good and will keep getting better IMO. Didn't really fit in OKC, so I'm happy he gets a chance elsewhere.
Well said, “given their situation”. I see a lot of people saying “Oh we got offered 2 picks in the season.” Yeah and now we’re here haha. We can judge the Bulls front office for that bad call, but now they made a good one with the situation they had.

Love the idea of Alex Caruso but do you think this make Lu dort more expendable I never liked the idea of Lu dort being traded unless you replace what he brings and Alex Caruso does that
