- Monday Night RAW from 2018 to 2019 was quite the bore to sit through. On the weekly fans were given a show with compulsive booking, no character progression and the same matches on repeat. These 2 years featured some notorious storylines, fumbling of talent and fan controversies. In this video I take you back to some of the worst years in the red brands history.

I was so depressed when that happened, cause I was expecting Chad Gable to finally start getting pushed, just for him to come out looking like a Saints Row NPC :(
same, glad he stuck around and it seems to have been worth it for him. Need a title run down the road though
In hindsight, it put Gable into the spotlight. Which really helped a lot in getting to where he is in today.
It's a miracle that Chad Gable survived several talent purges ever since that moment

Late 2019 was okay. Seth turned heel. Survivor Series that year was underrated imo. Raw 2017 was underrated that year and was better than Smackdown that year. 2016 Raw was equal to Smackdown 2016 imo. I take 2020 raw over 2018 and 19 combined. Brock Carried raw from 2016-2020 he was the only good part of that era.

Advertisements exist on video hosting platforms so that these platforms can stay afloat. UA-cam has ads to keep UA-cam up, and creators only earn a portion of that ad revenue. Same with cable networks, radio networks, and streaming platforms. Companies pay money to have their products and services advertised; other companies accept this offer to stay in business. It's crucial for streaming services and video sharing sites, since hosting this stuff requires bandwidth, which costs a fuck ton of money, especially in the case of UA-cam.

i find it funny how much hate AEW gets today for a decent show like it still usually a 7/10 on a weekly baises. WWE had trurly dreadful times. like you were happy about a 5 10 Raw.

I’ll throw in production of the show itself as an honorable mention. Just by the look of the show on screen compared to smackdown was very telling

And like 9 straight RAWs of Corbin vs Finn Balor over three months straight
they didn't want to push any talent that wasn't a big muscular imposing man. the peak of this is the Undisputed Era, basically the modern day DX, who all got fumbled because they looked like regular people. They wanted Adam Cole, one of the most talented wrestlers on the planet, to be a manager

-royal rumble drew McIntyre won it and even eliminated Brock Lesnar real quick and challenged him for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 36 and ending up winning it but in front of no fans and had the title from April to mid October losing it to Randy Orton at HIAC 2020 and then regaining it back on raw off him after the fiend distracted him and attacked Randy.
@@manojbhalerao7238also at the rumble in 2020 Charlotte Flair won the women’s one and challenged Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship and won it at wrestlemania 36 only having it for a month losing it to Io Sky at NXT In Your House 2020.
There’s was also plenty of matches like at the rumble The Fiend vs Daniel Bryan in a strap match for the WWE Universal Championship and he retained(The fiend).

This was the dark age of Raw. I was in high school during all this and I stopped watching for a while. I came back in 2021.
Bro 2010 was my dark age. To go from watching the Attitude era, the Ruthless aggression era and to whatever 2010 was, as a fan it was hard.

@@mickanvonfootscraymarket5520dude yes, growing up with the ruthless aggression era as a kid I loved the edgy product and literally around 09 when I became a teen (literally turned 13 that year) the product got extremely corny/cringy with the pg rating in full effect that I tuned out. The only alternative was TNA and even that was starting to go downhill with Hogan's arrival but even the Hogan era of TNA was still a million times better than the early 2010's of WWE

I’m not even kidding, going to my cousin’s graduation dinner at Chili’s in Georgia literally saved me from watching an episode of RAW that included the Bobby Lashley’s Sisters promo and I’ve STILL haven’t watched that promo in its entirety to this day!!!🙏🏽

For a good while, before I stopped watching WWE altogether, I was really big into watching NXT
@@animejatSame. NXT provided something new when I started watching in 2013. It was the perfect antidote to Raw and SmackDown until a combination of the pandemic, AEW and Vince soiling it made me switch off in 2021.
I stopped watching WWE in 2011 and I came back in 2023, im glad I missed the dark days

2012 through 14 was actully mostly solid and 2016 smack down was goated

I stopped caring all together. I’m mad I didn’t come back when Kofi/Bobby/Big E won the title because growing up in the ruthless aggression era. I was dying for a black man to be WWE champion and missed all of them. I missed the hurt business 😩😩😩🤦🏾♂️

At this time Vince McMahon had to realize that he had lost his creative juices and should have retired after 2016.
The problem with Vince is that he believes that having annoying and suffocating heels is essential and works all the time when in reality, it makes the product unwatchable. You can have good, well-written heels, and STILL have them be hated. Ted Dibiase, Tomasso Ciampa in NXT, and even Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief are great examples.
NXT Ciampa in 2018 was so despicable and evil, and I loved it!

When I think of 2010s WWE I grew up on, I now just think wasted time and potential of what could’ve been and what should’ve been.
So many fantastic wrestlers in their physical prime, all that talent wasted... Hell, people like to pretend Roman Reigns only became talented when he turned heel when this is far from the case. The talent was always there. It was just stifled.

Good God that always keeps me awake up at night. It was always so annoying listening to Michael Cole saying that especially during Roman Reigns’ disastrous babyface push. Those were very very dark times.
Let's just hope that this time, they do the babyface run right this time. Don't make him pander to the crowd, don't saddle him with cringe-inducing dialogue, all you need to do is keep him as a badass and most importantly, just let him be HIMSELF!!!!!

nah, post Survivor Series 2021 Raw to Vince retirement Raw (July 17, 2022 being his last official Raw until Raw after WM39) wasn't that good, but it was digestible and somewhat watchable, with meh storylines and decent champions, kinda like the 2015 of the 2020's so far, if that makes sense.
Post SummerSlam 2017-pre Survivor Series 2021 Raw was unwatchable, outside of Seth doin his absolute best to carry Raw with his bangers until Vince ruined his character too, and that gauntlet match on the Raw before Chamber 2018

It was crazy how quiet the crowds were in this era too. Outside of the big 4 ppvs, a ppv crowd in 2019 was usually quieter than a raw crowd in 2024. Just brutal

The thing about WWE in 2018-19 is they had zero direction. All of the stars of the past like Taker, Triple H and even Cena were either part time or had absolutely nothing left in the tank. The entire crowd did not want Roman to take over and be the face of the company. They booked Seth so poorly, his run as the top guy fell on its face and they had no one to build around. The older guys were too old and none of the younger guys took the spotlight. They were directionless.

NXT black and gold basically saved wwe. Without it, I'm sure more people would drop it
The only thing saving me during this time was NXT. Watching Aleister Black, Tomasso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Undisputed Era and more was what kept me sane and a WWE fan through out this shitshow on RAW and Smackdown.

I didn't even watch WWE 2018-2020. I have absolutely no memories from that time, and it really left a gap in my knowledge when I try to remember what even happened during that time. The funniest thing is that I actually watched wrestling every day back then, but it was all either indies, puro or classics. Must've been a horrible time if I didn't bother tuning in lol.
It’s crazy how much of a downward spiral WWE went on after 2016, which I consider to be one of the best years in WWE history. Smackdown was amazing that year, better than RAW even.
However, 2019-2020 WWE was fun to hate watch. It was entertaining to tune in every week to see how bad it was. But I’m glad WWE is much better again.
At the time I actually liked Raw probably because I loved The Shield. But seeing how good WWE is right now in 2024, I feel really stupid for liking Raw back then and looking back, it did have many bad things like Constable Corbin, Boring Tag Team division, cringe segments between Bayley and Sasha Banks, Drew McIntyre was a lackie for Shane McMahon, TOO MUCH SHANE MCMAHON! Man, Raw 2018-2019 was really bad looking back.

Everyone wanted Seth to beat Brock at WM35 but I get that Drew McIntyre won the WWE Title at a very bad timing but he's going to get his moment eventually, I'm pretty sure.
2018-2019 WWE was worse than 2010-mid 2011 WWE. I hated EVERYTHING about wrestling as a whole back then.
Then the first season of NWA Powerrr started airing and I was hooked again.
IMO the two worst years were 1995 and 2016. Raw was absolute trash at the time.

Then go and watch the Raw that was just on (at the time of this comment) after Summerslam 2024.

2018 was literally the year i started watching WWE and i only remember the good parts only, damn i really saw the worst phase of WWE and now they are peaking again, the product is total different- the production, the character development, storylines, long term booking. They have improved alot
Im so glad you called this out, i maintain that wwe in 2018-19 is the worst era, even worse than the new gen era. They made no new stars besides Becky, and the shows were so bad that attendance was plummeting. I thought WWE was going to go under within a decade at the time, it was that bad.
When people complain about WWE today, i think about how its a completely different company these days. In 2024 we'd get Punk vs Drew or Cody vs Roman, in 2019 we were getting freaking seth rollins vs braun strowmam lmao

Michaels vs. Tatanka was too predictive, and the best moment I can recall was Finkle dressing pretty funny. Also, I've heard that the main event was just bullshit, so maybe I should just permanently stay away from watching it

Its like they weren't even trying from Spring 2018 - Summer 2022. Like how can you have guys like Samoa Joe, Alister Black, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Ember Moon, Ronda Rousey, Bray Wyatt, & many others on your roster and book some of the most mediocre tv ever. Like why in 2018 - 2022 was Brock Lesnar, Golberg, & many other part timers winning multiple world titles? Mean while you had a stacked roster and yet they weren't given any opportunities.
I took a break from pro wrestling half way thru 2017 and came back in 2021, man did I miss a huge bullet.

Loving the 'My time is now' instrumentals in the background. John Cena's album is fire. Honestly from 2015 - 2020 i stopped watching WWE entirely outside of a couple of clips here there. I was so bored with the product though i did love R-Truth with 24/7 championship and Bray Wyatt as The Fiend and his partnership with Alexa Bliss. Broken Matt Hardy and Kofi Kingston as WWE Champion was cool too.
I think the worst to suffer from this was Finn Balor, his stock was so high in 2015-16 it seemed like he was the next big thing for the company, but the way they handled him in 2017 after he returned from injury, the absolute horrible booking of the guy who is more talented than most of your roster

I have dropped a comment at your video call ''WWE's awful end to Decade'', but just in case you read my comment on this video first, i'd like to get an answer from you. So i will copy-paste my comment in here:
I have watched this video, the one you just uploaed an hour ago call: ''Monday Night RAW From Hell (2018-2019)'' and several others explaining why 2017, 2018 & 2019 were the worst years in WWE ever. And dude i have mixed feelings, let me explain you why:
For me the darkest and worst era in WWE was the Universe Era (2009 - 2014) , it's the era that fans LOVE to call ''PG-Era'' (by that perspective Attitude Era should've been called ''TV-14 Era''). Trust me i lived that as a wrestling fan, and it was a nightmare!
TNA became my #1 Wrestling Show because i couldn't stand WWE's stupidity stupidity any longer; Iconic big events with names like ''No Way Out'', '' Judgment Day'', ''Unforgiven'' & ''No Mercy'' getting replaced by ''matches stipulations''. You got ''Hell In A Cell instead of No Mercy''. Talented wrestlers like Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase Jr, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Wade Barrett and the entire Nexus Team; getting all screwed up on rivalries with John Cena & Randy Orton, rivalries on which John & Randy ended up being the victorious ones over & over again.
So my point is that eventhough 2017, 2018 & 2019 were hot garbage; on the flipside you still had NXT delivering match of the year contenders every month; unlike the Universe Era where the main roster was crap & ridiculous (like the years mentioned in this video a.k.a. Reality Era) and there was no alternative in the same company, i mean NXT on their early days was a contestants doing physical activities in a wrestling show, not the Gold & Black fire ass period like NXT from 2015-2021.
Or is it probably me who's wrong because to be absolutelly honest i stopped watching WWE at all right after Wrestlemania 33 (the worst WM along with 27), New Japan Pro Wreslting became my cup of tea this time. So eventhough i was keeping an eye on WWE's storylines and great matches that people often talk about, i was an unaware to anything related to WWE back in those years. Until 2023 that i started to watch wrestling again, and found out Triple H is then new boss, NXT is an actual developmental show now, the Main Roster is filled with great matches again and organic & well executed storylines & story arcs.
Oh god reliving this god awful time period makes me appreciate triple h being in charge 10x more
Ahhh these years… the years of raw that finally broke me after 4 years
This why i appreciate the hell out of the raw shows we have today
WWE in general was almost unwatchable from like 2017 to 2020-2021 apart from small periods where they were falsely making you believe the product was becoming good again, then something stupid will happen and nothing changed( the Fiend, Strowman's 2017-18 run, Kofimania for example).
Honestly the Thunderdome era helped Bobby Lashley a lot.
Raw 2019 and WWE 2K20 almost made me quit watching wrestling entirely. Glad I stayed to see what would happened😮💨
Boy did they completely ruin both Bobby’s, Roode and Lashley. Roode could’ve been the next great original superstar. The Glorious persona and theme music was so fun and interesting. It gave off some Ric Flair vibes but also was very much his own.
What they did to lashley from 2018 to 2019 was DIGUSTING

Sami was very underrated with his promos in 2017-2019. He was a good heel in promo. It was just a terrible period of wrestling

I stopped watching wwe in 2016 and came back in 2020 I missed so much during this time some good stuff, some bad, some really bad I’m glad ur covering it
I gave up after Reigns went over at Wrestlemania 32. That whole card was like an FU.

The WWE were not letting their NXT stars moving to Raw or Smackdown
As stars but as jokes instead
And that they booked Finn Balor poorly
So in a calendar year, Vince ran the baby daddy storyline at least three times? Maria, Lana, and eventually Lacey Evans?
I quit watching raw in 2017 and just watched clips on UA-cam I didn’t start watching raw again until around the time of this years royal rumble… imagine that
Those who dont know i stoped watching wwe after that tribal cheif got me back in 2020 and after didn’t missed single episode after that

This was honestly the worst period of Vince being in charge, even worse than the Pandemic era.
