    This is so simple that it is genius. This is only the third BSCG video I’ve watched and you have completely changed the way I look a slot car raceways. Many hobbyists, myself included, only use scenery to make their raceways more realistic. You’ve taken realism to another level. Thank you for sharing your vision. Killer stuff! 😎🤙
    I’m a retired high school educator and there’s one principle I saw year in, year out. Good teachers have great ideas and successfully incorporate them in their classroom. Great teachers not only incorporate their ideas, they also aren’t afraid to cross the line of thievery and incorporate other’s great ideas in their classroom. That being said, I’M STEALING YOUR IDEAS. 😂😇

      @@BoonesSlotCarGarage…I’m currently working on a HO micro raceway (30”x66”/2 lane). It’s really more of a test track, but let’s call it a raceway. It’s been almost thirty years since my last build (4’x9’/4 lane). Would love to do a larger build, but we don’t have the room unless I can convince my wife that we don’t need the dining room table any longer. Any words of wisdom and/or encouragement on that subject? 😂

    I've changed turn piece radius regular.
    remove the metal conductors cut a turn piece say down to a third reinsert conductors and cut those to fit. you'll need to create a complete section but the conductors are bendable and help holding the completed section together.

    Quick heads up. About 20 years ago, but I can't remember if it was Tyco or Hot Wheels, there was a VERY popular Jeremy McGrath Supercross set... there was 2 versions... '12 radius turns with and without built in aprons! Inner and outer! I've seen them many times on Ebay and these are a MUST if building a Tyco track...

      @@BoonesSlotCarGarage And another thing about Tyco track which I'm sure you and most experienced HO slotters know but some newbies might not is the rails on Tyco track are just a little further apart then they are on Aurora and Tomy track.... so original Aurora A/FX pickup equipped cars will not work on Tyco track... the pickups land INSIDE the rails... but there is a easy solution... Auto World Xtraction pickups are much wider and cure this problem... downside to this is they wear out very quickly on Tyco track... so if you don't want to keep replacing pickups, Wizzard and BSRT make some very high quality ones that will not burn through in a couple of hundred laps...

    Its simple. Inside straights get a strip of material. Outside curves get a strip of material. Except when there are 2 90 deg. left or right hand curvers with a straight between them luke the area you are working on. Then the material shouls go on the outside of the straight.

    Hi Boone,
    I was working out how to layout my track. The Apex turns and it just didn’t seem right when compared to watching real racing. Then I found a driving video that talked about how the ideal line isn’t used. The way slot car track corners are built. Same radius all the way around the corner. The racing line has most of the turning completed prior to the apex, the radius opening the rest of the way around the corner. Allowing for more acceleration out of the corner into the straight. Have you constructed any corners like that?

    • @BoonesSlotCarGarage
      @BoonesSlotCarGarage  4 місяці тому

      I have a couple corners like that on my 1/32 layout , and yes it makes for a faster corner

    • @voivode2591
      @voivode2591 4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback. It’s looking like I will be using R2 and R3 sized corners for most of the layout. It gives me the option to go 4 lane later without too much modification. I was able to find some good engineering drawings of real world tracks and those sizes better fit scale size.

  • @Gale_Force_Raceway
    @Gale_Force_Raceway 2 роки тому +1

    So, does TYCO also have the same radius' (radii?) as Tomy/AFX. TOMY offers the normal 9", plus a 12. 15 and an 18.. and for the braver people, an inside 6" and 3" hairpin (so, like 10 lanes are possible--though not fluid really...- 4 to 6 lanes is best, and I just got the first batch from eBay for my 4 lane today.
