Hey Boone, I watched you doing the cobblestone and I have a suggestion for future effects. Take some copper wire the size you want for your gaps, shape it into sections of different cut shapes into a flat pattern about 3 x 3 or so and attaching to the end of your electric solder iron so it looks like a branding iron. As your heat from the tip expands into the wire and gets to the temp you want them press it into the styrene. Presto blocks of cobblestone! 👍🇨🇦
After watching a video of yours, I was going to say that there's a little Bob Ross in your presentation, now I see that there is a lot of Bob Ross in your presentation. You need to put a Bob Ross Chia-Pet on your track!

Hi Boon. I'm just starting to build a scalextric layout in my shed its bigger than an average shed its 20ft x 12ft. The the layout will only cover half in a horseshoe arrangement. Your layout is excellent the best I've seen .
@@scotthickman5277 the ones i am using are not , but they have enough play in the mount that it works good. If you are going to be pulling a fair amount of weight that might be an option, or run a second pair of pulleys to direct the cable to a truer line of pull. They have ceiling an wall mount pulleys that you can mount on there side to direct the cable the way you wish.

Brilliant layout, definitely inspiring! I've never had a permanent track layout but I'm very tempted, I have a suitable spare room and also a garage but no heating in that, so might not be suitable?🤔😮😁😎👍 I like the different levels and attention to details!😎👍
Thanks PD , my garage is not heated as well , but it is attached to the house. If you have a spare room in your home , that would be the ideal place for your track . But if the garage is dry and doesn’t get below freezing it would be ok as well....
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage I think the spare room might be my only option, my garage is concrete sectional construction, separate from our house, it's 'dry' in terms of the rain doesn't get in but here in the very damp UK the air has a lot of moisture especially through winter, so it wouldn't be suitable for the long term care of the metal parts of the track etc Your pulley idea has got me thinking I could use something similar to lower the track table down from the side of the wall, so it 'folds' away when not in use but obviously everything would have to be fixed down and attached to the table otherwise it would all just slide off!! I currently just put my track down temporarily in my living room which is around 26ft long and put it under obstacles such as tables and other furniture but with my dog Max jumping all over it and my wife moaning at me to put it away, it's not ideal lol 🤔😁😊😎👍
@@pdtech4524 yep sounds like the garage wouldn’t be the best place , but your folding idea sounds good. I have seen a few of them and the work good. Plus it might make the lady of the house happy as well. A plus , plus ... lol , thank you again for your comment and for watching my channel ... Boone
Thanks Bagpuss, the short straights do help with lower speeds , but to get the fast times it forces you to really tickle the trigger. The only area that can get hairy with your speed is the up hill straight , I have had a few fly off there.
Thanks for the quick reply. To help others perhaps trying the same thing, as I have not yet made the purchase until I fully understand the issues, I have to ask that if the cars are going the opposite direction, they'll pass the lane "X" and then pass the LED sensor, so a) they're past the "X" and b) no point in pushing the LC button for that LC section, but perhaps the next one intended for that direction of racing. My hope is that by not triggering, or despite triggering the next one, the first one (facing the other direction) either won't trigger or will a tailgating car get messed up? Thanks so much.
The track has a open merging intersection once the car switches lanes. If you run a car the opposite direction, the blade comes in contact with the intersection of the merging tracks and stops the car . When the lane change track is ran the correct way, the lane change switch moves a blade that changes the car to a different lane. That blade also helps to direct the car to the correct lane and protects the blade from coming into contact with the intersecting tracks. That’s one issue.... the second is the track can only change lanes in one direction, do to the way the rails are designed and the LED sensor needs to be activated as your car approaches the track.... I have ran my track in reverse, but it can only be done in analog, and I have to insert a guide. For the lane change track to protect the guides on the cars so they do not come in contact with the intersecting track rails
Have you ever noticed the golf course at Indy? 9 holes are inside the track. That small tear drop piece of grass on the top level looks like a prime candidate for, say an 18th green. Even looks like you'd have the real estate for the cart path too!
Your layout is work of art! I wish I can be so productive like you...lol. A real hobby craft nice raceway sir, very nice. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 how about put a model helicopter up there and circle the raceway for dramatic purpose 😂

Thank you Barry, and it’s a real fun time building a layout . I don’t have a build plan , I just had an idea of different ideas and started laying down track . If you have a Facebook account you can look me up and I will share what I have and answer any questions,,,,. It’s my name Boone Haury..... thank you again.... Boone
Wonderful job. So fun. Can you run in the opposite direction, specifically as it relates to the lane change tracks, or would you need a second one pointing the other direction, for a total of 3 +3 lane changers? Thanks.
Thank you.... in order to run the track the opposite direction , I would need to switch the lane change track the opposite direction as well . The lane change track is only designed to run one direction , you can damage the cars if you don’t do that....

I can show you how to build your lift system so you can undo it from the table and lift the ropes and pullies away from your bench work while your using it. I had built a layout that was 12' X 8' when assembled. It was 2 tables 6' X 8' that stacked and lifted up out of the way.
Thanks Joe , I do have it so I can remove the cables if needed. Only issue I have now is that I have added too much additional table to the sides that it makes it quite a challenge to remove them from the table… 😆

Awesome layout Boone, do you have a build thread somewhere on a forum? I'm new to slots and loving this style of track. Wouldn't matter if you run classic, muscle, F1, JDM or anything in between it would look right at home on your track. Do you have many "de-slots" on the up hill run when they get air? Got a new subscriber out of me for this video.👍🤙
Very cool, and thank you for subscribing to my channel… I do have pictures on my building process of the track , just unable to send them to you on UA-cam, but I do have the Facebook group, named the same as my UA-cam channel, or I also have an Instagram account named “ boonehaury” either of those I could get the pics to you , just message me. The up hill area is a blast, non magnet cars do catch some air , and land back on the track in the slot… makes it a little challenging when your going for fast times… hahaha.. I do plan on a new video going over the track again once I get a few more things completed since a few things have changed and been added to as well. Hope to hear from you soon and I can share more info. Welcome to this wonderful hobby and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I’ll do my best to help you out… Boone

You can only bank flat turns just a little before you start to get into some issues. But Scalextric does make banked turn pieces. It’s c8297 ... it states it is for a 10% grade but you can push that to a greater grade . You will need to create your own track supports to do that... hope this helps, and thank you for watching my videos

Think I need to be inspired by you and mix in a few elements of tracks I have been to in the UK, Belgium, France etc...used to live about 40mins from Brands Hatch! Thanks for sharing what you do mate!👍😎🇦🇺🏁
Thanks Stephen , love to see some pics of your layout, trying to get a comment section built for the channel so you guys can share what you have and what your working on. Thanks for the compliment and I’ll deliver on making more videos... thank you again Boone
Awesome, My favourite era of racing too.
You could use micro hinges an make the trees foldable, can't believe I just thought of this as I fold My table against My garage wall!
Unreal, dig it.
Thanks Jono, .... interesting point about the trees
Great layout. Your giving me great ideas for my track
Thank you Vic
Only just recently found your videos from a post I think you commented on I posted on a FB group but yep very cool vids I’ve seen nearly all and what an inspiring collection you have Fantastic track also you’ve done an AWSOME job my track is coming along slowly but thanks to most of your tutorials I’ve got new drive
Cheers I’m gunna watch this again as I was typing haha
Thank you, you will have to come over to the Facebook group I have for my channel, would love to see some pics of your layout
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage GDay Boone I will double check on that one and I’ll go ahead and post some pics but if not it’s a hashtag at #popasmurfraceway because I inherited 4 boxes of track and accessories that the old man had kept from my childhood and it was only fitting to not only set it up in honour of him and the times we shared but to make it a permanent fixture in my new manCave I think it’s coming up maybe 4 years old now and on day hope to go digital
Cheers mate
Amazing as always. Keep up the good job
Thank you Pablo
Hey Boone, I watched you doing the cobblestone and I have a suggestion for future effects. Take some copper wire the size you want for your gaps, shape it into sections of different cut shapes into a flat pattern about 3 x 3 or so and attaching to the end of your electric solder iron so it looks like a branding iron. As your heat from the tip expands into the wire and gets to the temp you want them press it into the styrene. Presto blocks of cobblestone! 👍🇨🇦
That’s a really good idea.... thank you for that.... I will definitely try that out
Nice looking layout a work of art.i would like race on it love it keep up the good work.
Thank you Sir
Awesome mate, great work (Ron Trackside)
Thanks Ron
sweet, really glad to see your still alive, well done~
Thanks Katie
After watching a video of yours, I was going to say that there's a little Bob Ross in your presentation, now I see that there is a lot of Bob Ross in your presentation. You need to put a Bob Ross Chia-Pet on your track!
Hahaha .... happy trees
Awesome work 🇦🇺
Thank you Ray
I stumbled onto your video quite by chance - you have a really great layout there. I live in the UK. We visit Canada every couple of years (my wife is Canadian) but we also pop down to Washington state as we have friends who live on Whidbey Island - small world eh...
Thank you Martin.. that is funny , maybe next time you are in this area let me know , would be great to have a few races ... lol , thank you again Boone
My husband would love this!!! xx.
Thanks Sheila , hope you show it to him
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage Have done!! Stay Safe xx
Great job. Love the "shit" braking marker.....
Outstanding use of terrain/scenery!!!!
Sounds like lots of work taking out the ceiling to allow for a water feature?!
Maybe just do a shallow pond with a small waterfall feature and low shrubs with folks swimming/boating........
Very nice job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Dan... taking out the ceiling will allow me to put larger trees in , still thinking about it.... lol
Awesome layout Boone!!
Thank you
Some great ideas I'm going to try sadly not a lot of open space 125ft of track in a space of 6ft x 16ft...keep the videos coming. Thanks
Thanks Steve
You have a awesome layout
Thank you
WOW! That track is awesome ☺️, how many cars in your collection, I have been getting bits and pieces together for a few years now, HO and thirty two scale, this is a great hobby!
Thanks Mark , I have around 50 cars at this point , and I’m in the process of building 5 resin bodies
Great layout. Looks like a lot of fun to race on.
Thank you , and yes it’s a fun track
Hi Boon.
I'm just starting to build a scalextric layout in my shed its bigger than an average shed its 20ft x 12ft. The the layout will only cover half in a horseshoe arrangement.
Your layout is excellent the best I've seen .
Thank you Adrian
Very cool set up
I was thinking of setting up in my garage as well. I’m interested in the pulley set to raise it to the ceiling
Thanks Scott, I have a video on the pulley system , but if you need additional questions answered just let me know. Thanks again Boone
Yea I’ve seen the video after my comment thanks
Question: I’m assuming the gang of pulleys on the ceiling would they be like a swivel type pulley ?
@@scotthickman5277 the ones i am using are not , but they have enough play in the mount that it works good. If you are going to be pulling a fair amount of weight that might be an option, or run a second pair of pulleys to direct the cable to a truer line of pull. They have ceiling an wall mount pulleys that you can mount on there side to direct the cable the way you wish.
Great layout. Hope to see a video on building the Targa Florin pits
Thank you.... been thinking of making a video of that... question for you, would you be interested in a video of the type that I built for my layout, or , would you like to see a replica of the real one built. Either way I would not be able to use it for my layout so it not too much of a worry to me. Just wondering what a viewer would like to see....,
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage Would like to see a replica of the real one. I have all of the Porsche 908s and would like to display with those pits or at least the Porsche garage.
@@brucecogan7734 sounds good, I’ll have to brainstorm on this one
That’s a magnificent layout Boone would like to see your cars running on it, season greeting from Ireland
Thanks Patrick
@EnterTRAINment Junction needs to hire you! Seriously... it’s in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester, and they really need to add a slot car layout.
That would be a blast, would love to be able to do something like that
I,ve just watched again your video and it's so nice, awesome layout. After watching it, I have made Dunlop Bridge and Esso guy using poliestyreno. Thanks for your inspiration. Next project will be lemans boxes pit stop. Tell us how you did it, wich materials...?
Thanks and my regards from Spain
Thank you Victor, the Pit box was made out of balsa , I textured the exterior using drywall joint compound, same material that I use over the top of my foam board and spray foam....
i wish i counld do a 1/3 of what he has done great job boone
thank you so much boone
Looks like fun! Now you need a vid on the cars too.
Thank you Colossal , that’s an idea

***DEFINITELY*** Video on the Dunlop tire bridge ***DEFINITELY***
Thank you..... hahaha.... okay I do plan on making a video of the bridge
Brilliant layout, definitely inspiring!
I've never had a permanent track layout but I'm very tempted, I have a suitable spare room and also a garage but no heating in that, so might not be suitable?🤔😮😁😎👍
I like the different levels and attention to details!😎👍
Thanks PD , my garage is not heated as well , but it is attached to the house. If you have a spare room in your home , that would be the ideal place for your track . But if the garage is dry and doesn’t get below freezing it would be ok as well....
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage I think the spare room might be my only option, my garage is concrete sectional construction, separate from our house, it's 'dry' in terms of the rain doesn't get in but here in the very damp UK the air has a lot of moisture especially through winter, so it wouldn't be suitable for the long term care of the metal parts of the track etc
Your pulley idea has got me thinking I could use something similar to lower the track table down from the side of the wall, so it 'folds' away when not in use but obviously everything would have to be fixed down and attached to the table otherwise it would all just slide off!!
Boone
Waoohh! its so cool....
Thank you
WOW! A TRUE MASTERPIECE. YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF. How many feet of track is in this layout? Congratulations on this fine piece of ART.
Thanks Brian... my track is 106ft
That's a kool cutout you have there. He looks familiar.
Thanks Bob, happy little trees
i need to say thank you boone
Thank you Wayne
Brilliant. I presume as the straights are short and there are a lot of corners that's speeds are lower and hence the cars come off far less.
I didn’t know that there is a golf course at Indy…. Learn something every day.. your correct though , that area could be used for that…. Thanks Drew
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage I just googled 1/32 scale golf figures and was quite surprised with the results. I'm still looking for a hobo for your tunnels

Only just discovered your channel. You are doing what I have always wanted to do. Your talent for scenery is incredible. I love the layout and would aim to build something similar once I have retired. Is there a layout plan? Looking forward to watching all the videos.
Thank you Barry, and it’s a real fun time building a layout . I don’t have a build plan , I just had an idea of different ideas and started laying down track . I have shared the layout via photos of my build with others that have asked the same question and they show the scope of what was needed to build. love the tower
The lane change track is only designed to run one direction , you can damage the cars if you don’t do that....
i love your story too
Thanks Wayne
superb
Thanks Tim
what a great looking track i would to build my own grand stand how do i go about it thank you boone
Thanks Wayne, ....to build a grandstand is going to take some thought in how I can put it in words to describe how to do it... this is a video that I’m going to have to make soon. Your not the only one suggesting a video on this. Let me stare at the one I have built and I’ll see if I can put it to words... I’ll have something for you soon ... thanks
Hey Boone, so did you make the tower or did you pick it up somewhere??
I made the tower , took a little bit of time
hi.. great system... can I ask... where did you buy the blue tower and pit stop building from? many thanks

How do you bend the Track?
@@sir.schambach459 I have a video on how to bend the track , i have scalextric track but the same technique can be used on other brands as well
Awesome layout Boone, do you have a build thread somewhere on a forum?
I know you have tunnels for the cars but how about a pedestrian walkway under one of your sections of track? I have fond memories of walking under the track at Le Mans, whilst smelling, feeling and hearing the heavy braking and acceleration above.
That’s a very cool memory and idea. I might just look into this . Would be a nice addition to my layout when I start the rebuilding process.
Great job on the track and videos. Are you scratch building any cars?
Thanks john.. yes I have 7 different cars that I’m working on. Working with a gentleman out of California on modifying some resin bodies to create some different liveries of old CanAm cars. 712 Ferrari CanAm , 612 CanAm , and Mclaren M12..
have you ever tried to make a banked curve ? i had one on an Aurora track when I was a kid in the 70s. It was a Monza banked curve any where from 30 to 45 degrees. Would love to make one for my Scalextric track.
