good to see you continue this series finally after 11,377 years
I think you went a bit too far there. At least for about 2 or 3 millennia.
Hey its only been 11,376 yrs! Cut them some slack!
Hey there! I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it seems like a solid choice for keeping your desktop and other areas clean. With its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, along with the multiple tubes and high-quality filters, maintenance should be a breeze. Plus, the compact size and portability make it perfect for on-the-go use. It's definitely worth considering!
The budget PC builds are one of my favorite series. It's always great to learn new things(like the current best budget components) and also get some humor along the way.
true but i noticed Austen only looks for the new or newish gen stuff remember if your on a budget you don't have to get the newest stuff I still run a i7 975 (first gen i7) with a 1070 and 16gb ram ddr3 and a ocz 3800 ssd on a seasonic 550w psu does borderlands 3 4k at a whopping 30-40 frames or 2k at 80fps so new is nice but not always needed also when searching online remember to type in motherboard combos and usually you will find a good deals
And also get insight if someone is building a normal pc. When they take a 3090 and a 200usd case. I know I can't build that.
@nunyabizzness8844 there's nothing wrong with older hardware, in fact I actually like the value it gives. But I think Austin just wanted to show us what you can get new for $500 these days
@PBJames yes somewould just prefer to buy brand new. I mean, it is not for us to judge them.
@@nunyabizzness8844 first gen i7 is way too old now I would go atleast i7 7th if not 8th gen
I remember watching your $500 pc builds when i was 16-17 now im 25 & your the reason i did it. Amd fx6300, 16gb ram & a 4gb gtx 960 was my first build & tbh could never go back.
I do love how prices are fluctuating a bit for this same build. I was able to spec basically the same machine, but with a thermaltake Versa H18 and a PowerColor 6600 (for that 8gb vram over 4gb) for $498.91. You could always go with the same gpu or at least another 6500xt for maybe $30 in savings but I personally would want more vram.
Many of the parts listed in this video are, as of right this second, showing as a bit cheaper for me.
5500 - $84.99
WD Blue - $31.99
Same Ram - $29.97
Same PSU - $39.99
Asrock a520m-hdv - $67.99
PowerColor 6600 - $199.99
Thermaltake Versa H18 - $43.99
All of which still on Amazon.
Yeah I was really confused on why we’re spending 60 on a case and 160 on 6500xt lmao
Nvidia also just made some pretty significant price reductions, which I feel like if you can swing a 30-series card or 40-series card, their DLSS 2.0/3.0 will give you quite a bit more bang for the buck.
@nathangothan601 did they bring any 3000 or 4000 to under $200? I could not find any cheaper parts for the rest of this build without risking a safety hazard of cheapness, so $200 is like a hard cap on price if trying to stay under $500.
I haven't been looking at the market for a while as my 2080ti is still holding up.
@@nathangothan601 sure bro lol
@@Sheepykin nah not below $200 but right above it
Did no one notice that when he looked up the difference between the GTX 1650 vs the 6500XT he actually picked the 6650XT which is way better but not he card he was supposed to be looking at?
I did too but the 6500XT is still better
Right? That was wild.
@@AlparslanEraslan is that true???
@@velocity_50 these are the 3DMARK scores for the cards mentioned: GTX1650 - 3595 points, 6500XT - 4971 points, 6650XT - 10008 points. Higher score means better 3D performance
@@ttoxicpkok but it has no video encoder
I remember the Boson series! Amazing to see you brought this back.
Fr blud
i remember these videos! i used to love watching them. for a while my pc had the Pentium G4600 and a GTX 1050ti from the 2017 build, since I knew nothing about pcs and trusted you and it worked well enough for the longest time! hope you bring these back one a year!
I appreciate these kind of videos Austin. thank you 👍
finally. Now all we need is Austin comparing his budget build over the years and see much better what was changed over the years
I'm still using my Photon 3.0 today! With a few upgrades though. Same power supply, motherboard, case, and hdd (although now I have an ssd) as the original build!
So nice to see the Boson back. I'm here since the A series APU
Evans you are appreciated so much in the PC community and I just want to say thank you!
Hey {{3}}! I appreciate your kind words! When it comes to keeping your PC clean, have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy device that offers both powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. With features like high-quality filters and multiple tubes, it's great for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, it's portable and perfect for various cleaning tasks. Definitely worth checking out! 😄👍
These videos are the reason I followed you. Good to see it return.
The 6600 would have been 85 dollars more, or 17% of the total cost of the PC. However, in return, the 6600 is 69% faster than the 6500xt (TechpowerUp relative performance chart). Im pretty sure that the 6600 can be had for 200 on sale in the US of A if you wait/search around a bit..
i feel like the intel arc a750 would be better at that price point. dx11 issues aside, now that they cut the price from 250 to 200 dollars, it is actually very price competitive now.
@@giltyakhtarstill not as good as a 6600.
Hey there, fellow tech enthusiast! Have you considered adding the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule to your setup? It's a versatile tool that offers both powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. With its multiple tubes, high-quality filters, and efficient storage, it's a reliable option for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, its brushless motor and long-lasting battery make it a great choice for on-the-go use. Check it out!
I would have gone down to a Ryzen 5 4500 and up to a 6600 for the GPU at a $500 price point (Just managed to price parts and I could get a system at $501.37) But I think Ausin's build is not inherently better. It will depend on the games being played and what else one is doing with it.
In this case it would be even faster than that due to the fact that the 6500 running in pcie 3 which has a huge impact on it whereas on the 6600 with more pcie lanes it barely matters😂
I went hard for my first pc last year with a ryzen 7 and a 3080. Thx 4 the videos Austin keep em coming.
I’d love to see an upgrade video on this PC to know how you’d go about improving it.
Hey there, {{3}}! When it comes to upgrading your gaming PC, one essential tool you should consider is the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. Its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities will help you maintain a spotless environment. Plus, with features like keyboard cleaning and efficient storage, it's a versatile option. Great quality and reasonably priced compared to other brands! Happy upgrading! 👍
I feel so old now I remember watching the first boson and wanting to build one so badly
Yo this took me back in time, back when I did not have a good PC and used to watch Austin's PC Build videos thinking when can I build my own.
Imagine comparing a gtx 1650 vs a rx 6650 while you are looking to buy a rx 6500 😂
I was trying to figure that one out myself.
5:40 that ram kit is actually a relatively good kit, don't let the price fool you
Agreed
Thank u so much! I’m stuck with an older pc and needed an affordable upgrade so badly
Damn i remember when Boson 2.0 was my first ever pc i built back in the day, glad to see you’re still continuing the Boson builds
Really enjoyed that you set a budget for this build.
Honestly I'd love to see you try £100, £200, £300 ect ect and keep growing to show what money really gets you when it comes to PC gaming.
Good video, nice one 👍
100?? You'll get nothing
At that price i don't think there is even a windows laptop from amazon, maybe if you got it from wish or something.
@ru2225 haha that's the challenge 😋
@kr555wizard think it's just fun to see what you get rather than is it good lol
$400 and $300 are quite doable. $200 gets into the range of you have to buy used, which makes these videos have less meaning since it isn't a part that just anyone can buy if they want to make the same system.
Absolutely love watching these videos!
Austin, the Ryzen 5 5500 is limited to PCIe Gen 3, whereas the 6500 XT you chose uses a PCIe Gen 4 x4 link. Therefore, you were basically running a 6500 XT at PCIe Gen 3 x4 link speed, which in some cases halves the performance.
rookie mistake
also the motherboard is only gen3 so doesn't really matter
Yep guy knows nothing about PC hardware
you cant choose at 500$, pcie 3 and pcie 4 dont differ that much if the games dont require heavy VRAM. its something you have to trade off at 500$. since he is building on a limited budget, hes just getting the cheapest that he can. he even went for an a520 motherboard which is the cheapest am4 motherboard. so he's focusing on the budget rather than the full fledged performance
in the video he explained exactly why he made compromises. go to around 13:40 and you'll see
he also explained the limitations at 15:24 too. i have a guessing you didnt watch the whole video
The motherboard is only PCIv3 anyway
Nice! Love the build. Love the video!👌
Still use the Photon 2.0 I've won from you on your previous $500 gaming PC, not for gaming anymore 😅 but it still makes a really good work/school PC!
another thing to take into account preowned and used pc cases, work just as well as a new case
I NEEDED this video. Im pc shopping rn and i wanna stay pretty budget
New to building a gaming pc and was recommended your channel. Gonna follow this verbatim and hope for the best lol
Ive followed tbis as closely as I can and Im really excited for it. My whole setup will cost around £515 (including mouse+keyboard). Great vid
You just love to see another budget pc video
Literally was praying for you to do this because I am trying to build one!
Thank you, good explanations of decision making, especially trade offs.
Nostalgic. I remember a decade ago when Austin used to make these PC builds but never actually buy the parts, because he didn't have the money.
Glad to see you can finally buy them Austin! 😂
He came full circle.
Hey there! It's great to see you reminiscing about Austin's PC builds. Building your own gaming PC can be a lot of fun and a great way to customize your setup. By the way, have you considered adding the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a versatile tool for keeping your desktop spotless, and it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Just thought I'd share this cool recommendation with you! 😄
You should do budget gaming pc like once every year. That would be very helpful.
Love how he shows the new pc builders where to place stuff 😀😀😀
I bought this Zalman S3 case in December of last year and I love it. Easy to build in but I did move the front fans inside the case so they are not choked all to hael along with a few other mods for better airflow because I am using a hotter cpu and gpu but yea, I will probably use this case again in the future.
where inside the case did you move the fans? I'm thinking about getting this case too and I'm quite curious
Highly appreciated!
about to build a 1080p gamming rig for my son! this video was of GREAT VAULE / AWESOME Job Sir.
As the proud owner of that XFX 6600, if you can get it within your budget, jump on it. It's a great card.
i was hoping someone mentioned this. I keep hearing good things, and then recognized it just now as the one he’d not trusted in this video. there’s a $690 7900 XT i’m eyeing…
just don’t know if I want to commit to AMD. I guess I can always have two cards down the line too.
Thanks, it's been a while since I put one together(like 5 years and a stroke and a brained injury) ...a desktop version is much better...my first one has a xp and a version 7 which were current at the time(the one on the xp I haven't used it in a while but the 7 I use 4-5 days a week...now I have to look upgrading to get the current Steam with!
Thank you very much
Brent
One thing to note tho is that the Ryzen 5 5500 is based on Cezanne (like the 5600G and 5700G) instead of Vermeer (like 5600X or 5700X), so your limited to PCIe 3 instead of PCIe 4 like what the 6500XT uses. Also, Cezanne CPU's are limited to 12 PCIe lanes (with the exception of the 5500 because it has no iGPU) so that's something else to consider if you were thinking about buying a G series APU. Last note is the B450/A520 and some B550 chipsets doesn't support PCIe 4 at all anymore, so even if you get a 3000/5000 CPU with PCIe gen 4 support you still wouldn't be using the full potential of a 6500XT. Learned this the hard way when I bought a RX5700 with my Ryzen 5 4600G.
OHHHH YESSS 500$ Builds are back thank you Austin!
I remember watching your videos in 2017 while building my first build. $500 is a lot different now than it was back then, holy…
RX 480 & i7 6700k, good times.
Edit:
Just thought I’d clarify. I used it as a guide, and that the $500 value is different from his older video.
You couldn't afford a rx480 and a i7 7700k in a 500$ budget back in 2017.
@@niceISbriss forgot to mention. I blew past my budget. I was just remembering how good it was.
all i can say they all look pretty sure with their capabilities, thats it
i have pretty much the same pc, the only diference is that i have a 5600g, so i used integrated graphics while saving money and then almost a year later i bought a 1660 super , the gpu was used and it only costed me USD$80, in total my entire pc, including a 75hz 24'' 1080p monitor and all my peripherals coste me around $470~$500, really happy with it
Always love to see a budget build video but for first time builders recommending a site like PC part picker would go a long way. Great for finding the best prices from different vendors, also a great for knowing if the parts will be compatible or not which is usually not talked about. Also recommending a 1660 super in 2023 when the rx 6600 exists?
such a good video. watched the whole thing
With the intel arc 750 limited edition going for 200 usd currently. I think that would be the best budget gpu available atm.
I literally build the same PC 3 hours ago, i'm in awe!
Great video!
What a throwback. PC Building spin off channel?
This video is a great introduction for people to learn how to build there first pc! 5/5
I agree with what Barney says on Austin’s shirt in the ordering process
This spec perfect to ride out inflation. Same spec but forgo casing since i already had one. Different PSU too, chose the better/more reliable one.
2:23 , i use the aisurix RX 580 and it’s honestly pretty good. I definitely was skeptical like you but (at least with the one I received) it was a great buy. I have a super old build besides this graphics card and i get 120 or more fps on most games with medium to high graphics!
Yeah, I was wondering why he didn’t trust AISURIX
All here for the agressive apexes.
Do a $1000 PC build next
The silicon power ram is a solid choice. I know that 1 persons experience doesn't prove its worth, but its been fine for me
I honestly think the rx 580 over the 6500xt not only because it performs the same if not better in better in some games but the rx 6500xt only has 4 gbs of vram and we all know how even 8 is barely good enough for 1080p anymore, the 6500xt will not be able to keep up.
Bro i love the ending
I know you're not based in Canada but I am gonna try and do a bit of research to see how much more this would be up here. You guys get WAY WAY WAY better pricing than we do though, its a lot more difficult to budget build.
My recommandation is to buy almost everything new except for the GPU. The A520 supports PCIE Gen3 x16 but the GPU is PCIE Gen4 x4, the best is to buy a 2nd hand RX 6600 or RX 6600XT, they may be PCIE Gen4 x8 but x8 is bigger than x4 lanes.
BRING BACK CLASSIC AUSTIN VIDEOS🙌
The main issue I see with this build is the Ryzen 5500 does not support PCI Gen 4 and the RX 6500 XT needs Gen 4 to get the most performance out of it because it only uses 4 PCIe lanes. It works but the 6500 XT performs worse on Gen 3.
Also A520m Pro or B550 are better boards. And the A620 WiFi came out this week is also a Good fit
Did you just open USER BENCHMARK?
Finally after 5-6 years you finally made a 5.0
Just built my friend a very nice pc for $900 at micro, 13th gen i5 , 3060ti, 500gb m2, 16gb ram, 650psu, p760 mobo (he wanted wifi/Bluetooth) nice to see prices coming down! Went with a cheap $50 montech case just because budget decent airflow with 4 installed fans, the standoffs were so frustrating on that case otherwise great build!
Welcome back to the actual tech UA-camr space
The amazon boson is great. Hope you can make a $750 and $1000 Amazon pc as well
the slope is real, end up spending 2500 for mine, but happy with it
i think you shouldve gone with a 10100f and a 6600, i was able to get that combo with everything else, and 16gb for $510, a lot more performance
I have a 32gb kit of that silicon power 3200mhz and I have no complaints.
Hey Austin, so is the pc worth it or will it explode bc im not quite sure when I saw the notification on Forza, bc I dont want to play a video game where I have to lower to the lowest settings on the world.
Hey Austin! What operating system did you install and will this PC play games that I used to play on a Windows XP PC?
Lol this system is wayyy over kill for XP era games (1998-2009 I assume)
You could just get like an intel core 2 Duo and GTX 260 for dirt cheap.
SSDeez nuts
This must've been right before the AMD GPU Price cuts. 6600 (non xt) can finally be found consistently under 200
2 months ago I build same cpu and motherboard on micro center I save 20 buck on cpu and mobo combo and pairing rx 6600. Reason is Warzone 2.0 fps 100. I’m so happy upgrading coming from I7 8700 with Gtx 1070.
The build is quite ok for everyday use and some light gaming.
The graphics card works best with PCIe 4.0 and neither the CPU, nor the Motherboard support that.
It would probably perform better with an Intel i3 or something like the Ryzen 5 3600 and a 4.0 Motherboard.
Just spent a similar budget and went for used parts, ended up with a R5 3600, 32 GB RAM, 2060 Super, 1TB SSD for a total of 500 Euro
The name for AMD RAM speed equivalent to XMP is not AMP, it's DOCP for previous gen and EXPO for the 7000 series
i3 + a750 would give a significant performance advantage for a little more
Like the way you showed a good way to split the budget. However, the best way to build a pc that cheap, is to look for them used, like gpu and whatnot.
Holy crapsickles I forgot about the boson! Such nostalgia
Can this kind of setup be used for light 4k editing?
Buying used at a $500 budget will give you a bit more performance and even now you don't get a warranty. You're probably going to get slightly better quality of products
I'm upgrading my gaming laptop, mostly the ram and internal storage, I was looking at getting a vengeance 32 GB set, would that be over kill? anything else I could add?
Decent build for $500. I have been building and selling computers for the past 2 years, so I know where and when to get good deals. Recently built one with a 5600x, B450M, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 5700XT, and 500w PSU for $500 with all brand new parts and a used GPU. Sold it for $800. It sold fast since it's a great deal compared to other sellers.
Can you elaborate on the parts and prices i have almost the same build but i got 500dollars without the gpu
the fact that Austin didn't sharpie the ketchup and mustard cables is character development xD
In the market for a new pc soon, this saves me some hassle.
I built myself a budget build last year
Specs:
CPU: i7 8700
GPU: gtx 1650 super
Ram: 32gb
SSD: WD 500gb
PSU: 550w
Case: NZXT h5 flow
And honestly it was worth every dollar, I could’ve waited and saved up more for a higher end system but honestly with the games I play it’s fine for me. Probably overtime I would probably have to upgrade parts along the way but it should be fine. If anyone is on a budget, definitely look into the games/tasks you’ll be doing on the system
Would definetly advice to scale up your budget to 535 right now if you would be in the market for this PC, because the RX 6600's are selling from 199 at the moment.
Also it might be worth it checking more then just 1 store.
But still, a year ago it would have been impossible to build a gaming PC for 500, yea a 720 low to medium setting on an iGPU but not with a half decent discrete GPU.
Dont knock the low end board: if something happens to that GPU you have alternate ports to use for diagnostics. Personally I love getting lower end stuff and pushing it to see how well it keeps up with the pricier tier stuff.
Intel just slashed the price of the A750 to $200. Given the market and budget, that seems like a reasonable option.
Please make a video for a more home/home office budget desktop build!
This is good for the price, I’m wondering if you’ve seen the rx 580 8gb for like $80.
Now this is Austin Evans
Just would like to share my experience using the RX 6500 XT since I follow this video as a reference for building my budget gaming PC with some changes along the way to suit my needs. such as the motherboard and the processor.
My is gaming PC build is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Processor and the RX 6500 XT GPU, my motherboard a midrange Asus Tuf Gaming B450M-PRO II, my RAM is XPG Gammix D45 (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz, and my Storage is a Ramsta 2.5 512GB SSD Sata since I’m broke… I build them together around June 2023…
Overall, my experience with this build is pretty pleasant to say the very least, finally able to play most of my games in ultra settings such as Sniper Elite V2 Remastered V2 and Pillars of Eternity and a couple of high end JRPGs games than I ever could with my older DDR3 PC with an AMD A6 APU and a Radeon R5 Video Card. A very smooth gaming experience I must say.
If you live in a third world country like I am and only have around $500 budget or even less to build a gaming PC and you don’t care about streaming or those fancy Ray-tracing crap, get a Nvidia card if you want that sort of stuff, then this particular $500 Gaming PC with the RX 6500 XT build is very viable and fantastic! I even tried doing some light video editing using Wondershare Filmora 11 and it works flawlessly, was able to render and export videos in faster super speeds than my older DDR3 could ever do.
Just don’t expect this run the latest of games in ultra setting since this is a budget video card and if your budgets allows it, buy a RX 6600 XT or up since it’s a much better card!
Also don’t forget to enable AMD (SAM) Smart Access Memory by turning on the resizable bar on the BIOs for a performance boost to get the most out of your pure AMD system!
Thank so much Mister Austin Evans for this wonderful guide! It really helped me a lot and for AMD for the RX 6500 XT! Best Budget Video Card/GPU ever! despite what the so called tech reviewers gurus haters says otherwise!
In 2008 I built my first AMD gaming PC with only $500 while I was still in highschool and I was able to run Crysis in all high graphics. I thought it was a pretty huge accomplishment being my first time 👍
I basically got the same thing but I’ve got 32gb ram. Will the ram upgrade be much of a difference tho?
