    I've owned several Springfield 1911's. Nothing bad to say about any of them. Never actually shot a 1911 in 9mm. I love the recoil impulse from a good .45 but am itching to give 9 a try in this frame. Thank you for everything you do LAV!

      Strongly recommend the Dan Wesson Vigil in 9mm. I don't know how DW does it but even their aluminum frame stuff is soft shooting as hell, softer than some of the steel frames I've encountered.

    When I first got my .45 1911 2 years ago, I was horrible with it at the range and couldn't hit shit past 15 yards. Thats when I found Larry's channel and learned the proper way to hold it and I couldn't be happier with it.

    I own 6 Springers including a Custom Joe Chambers built .45 and Lipseys Combat Operator. But my favorite to shoot has to be my Range Officer operator in 9mm. Smooth as silk, accurate and soft enough shooting that my hands don’t ache for days if I shoot a lot. A Professional is definitely one of my 2 Springer Unicorns, the other being a Full rail TRP.

    Thanks for the video. I was lucky enough to put a few magazines through one of these last summer. It was the first that I've shot a 9mm 1911 and I was gobsmacked in just how soft the firearm was to shoot. Like many I'm use to 1911 pistols in 45acp which is not bad but the 9mm is in a different league. The day I was at the range I was working with my issued firearm which is a Glock 23. The difference in recoil impulse between the 9mm 1911 and model 23 was even more magnified than with the 1911 in 45acp.

      @@MarkBadia I own both and I can tell the difference between them. The trigger on the Pro is a good bit better than the TRP and the recoil impluse is much more linear/smoother because the gun was hand fit. Bench accuracy is also better. Now take what I said with a grain of salt as I carry custom 1911s on/off duty, I shoot about 30k through 1911s every year as well as I build 1911s for personal range use. I notice things average 1911 owners don't as the minor details matter alot more to me in regards to quality of the build and its longevity.

    I took a 1911 training course a few years ago. There were all different brands of 1911s present. The only ones that had consistent malfunctions were the Springfield TRPs. After seeing that level of performance, I lost all confidence in the brand.

      Production vs Custom gun not in the same ball park. The TRP is assembled at the SA factory the Professional is built by the Springfield custom shop.

      @@deank5649 problem is they’ve advertised the TRP as able to handle duty use. However, from what I’ve seen, it’s barely able to be a safe queen. The Colts, SIGs, Dan Wesson, Wilson Combats, Rugers, and I think there was a S&W (oddly no Kimbers) they all performed beautifully. There were serious problems with the TRPs. So much so, the guys using them could not finish the course.
      Remember, I’m just a guy on UA-cam telling you about my opinion and my observations from ONE training class. Take that with a grain of salt. I would not purchase a TRP though.

    somebody please enlighten me about the concept of a 9mm 1911. if i would want to buy a 9mm full metal frame, i would take something like a cz over it every day. more capacity, lower bore axis and i.m.o. more modern and " reliable" operating System. outside the concept of a training gun i honetsly dont see the point of it. Is it purely " sentimental" ?

    • @KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop
      @KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop 3 роки тому +3

      Ergonomics, trigger, and match-grade accuracy for the most part, but also that the people that were using this in a duty setting had learned and trained on 1911s throughout their career before the current millennium. Operators would learn on a 1911 and then transfer over to other handguns, as Larry has said himself, rather than the inverse today. As for 9mm I believe it's because of greater range, recoil control, and capacity (10+1 is remarkable for a 1911). You aren't wrong about the "sentimental" value though, I think it has a lot to do with confidence in your equipment. If you know a 1911 very well and are confident in your ability with it, it might make you a better fighter.

      You’re not the kind of guy who would want this type of gun or a genuine Colt or FN made M4/M16 that’s 100% Mil-Spec. You buy a Professional because you know the story of the competition the FBI set up for this side arm, know the absurd quality and performance standards this gun had to perform to, and was the gun that outperformed all the Semi-Custom Gun Makers and gunsmiths. You can find similar for less, but it’s not the actual model built exactly for a solider, an agent, or gun owner that waited months for the backlog to build theirs.
