Yep I couldn't agree more. I played my first wipe (the one where streets was first added) with a standard account and most of my time was spent getting max stash level. I was actually close to getting kappa that wipe too and I probably would have gotten it if I was on EOD for that wipe. Secure container size, Trader rep, and stash space were things I found to be a big help when I upgraded to EOD. Sure it doesn't help you play better or anything but it is very nice to have. I appreciate that you actually tested your hypothesis and came back to the topic correcting it rather than not.
Your argument wasn’t so much “is tarkov pay to win” but more so “how often does tarkov being pay to win actually effect gameplay” which I think would’ve went over much better in general lol
I think people use "how frequently is this one factor the decider in whether you win a fight" to explain how no single factor is important enough to be p2w, but I think it means all these small factors are important enough to be p2w.
@@areyoutheregodright I see this argument all the time. Gun fighting is a small portion of tarkov yet everyone says “eod doesn’t improve your aim so it’s not pay to win” but, as this video just showed, it allows you to progress faster and you will be dumpstered by players who progress faster than you because they can buy better gear. Fact of the matter is if tarkov was released a decade ago everyone would be calling the enhanced edition pay to win. It’s because everyone’s been so plagued by pay to win mechanics over the years that they’ll defend something that isn’t as blatant as “press this button to win the raid”.
@@nikbjork6007 True, and the bigger crime is with PvE, EoD/Uheard do absolutely nothing. Sure the trader rep, large sash and gamma are nice but with no wipe a 40 dollar acct can slow roll and work on their stash. They only need to start focusing on trader rep with stash 3 onward. Its just a bigger cash grab by hard gating things that really should not be hard gated.
Having to use installments to pay for a video game is not a good business practice. I'm talking about the current prices, EOD back in the day was actually at a very good price point imo.
@@glubtas idk I disagree with you. In the internet age of constant communication and interactions then people expect indefinite patches until perfection is achieved
@@tillercaesar-kq4ou the problem is that the developers made promises they did not want to keep. If you want to release expansions, or DLC, or whatever, thats fine. But don't sell a version of your game for 140 dollars thats supposed to have all those then change your mind later.
Mad respect to you. I'm a standard player and my two only gripes that pushed the editions from "nice to have" to "Pay to win" were the stash size SOLEY due to the cost and trader rep. Not just for softlock but due to taking pressure off of HAVING to do things. You can put aside some awful quests and focus on a few things
exactly people forget that not having to spend hours on tedious things helps the brain remain "fresh" for gunfights. yes eod doesnt make me shoot better, but it does because im not irritated from having to throw things away that i know i need in 3 levels...
Another thing about Punisher part 4, just got there on PVE as I do not have the patience for pvp, Unheard lets you viably bring an AR with 3 mags 1 in the gun vs just have 6 one slots and 2 2x1. Those pockets are such a massive game changer and the quest to unlock them is so late into the game its a bit of a kick in nads.
Did you even thought about taking a gun that allows you to use 50/60 rounder mags or just simply taking a gun that won't eat your ammo fast, like you could simply just take some marksman rifle like sr-25? Instead of considering 2 bigger pockets as a gamechanger for a task (they are not) consider taking 2 big surefire mags on vest + cheapazz surefire 100-rounder from flea for a first mag you will put in your gun right before you start a raid. No offence but that's is just pure absurd to me.
@@demjan96 Congratulations, you just described being bottlenecked into specific weapons and builds instead of being able to bring whatever meta loadouts an unheard player can.
@@Relf_G In all fairness, even with the restricted vest pockets, there is still alot of option and player agency. M4 with 60rd mags, M1A, any DMR, Shotguns, hell pistols even... @@Addertach this is exactly what I've been doing. It's not a big deal if you go slow. The PvP on that map just straight sucks though. And because it sucks, so many people rat and snipe, making many of the alts like running a shotgun or pistol kinda worthless. The map is just a garbage map.
I play Tarkov on standard edition since late 2021 and I NEVER managed to get Peacekeeper to level 4. Everyone who says standard edition has the same experience as all other editions is only coping and needs to play on Standard.

For me, it doesn’t matter if any of the upgraded editions are “pay to win” or not. They still put you at a MASSIVE advantage over anyone who doesn’t want to spend an unreasonable amount of money on essentially the same game they can get for $40. Adding onto that, the upgrades ruin the progression of the game for everyone, regardless of edition. I think everyone should start on a standard account with the Gamma being a quest reward between Epsilon and Kappa. Just my two cents
Wholeheartedly agree. Progression is something I value in games and is exactly why I will never upgrade my account. If I didn’t have to grind my stash I would lose motivation to play. Secure containers on the other hand are a massive cringe problem, as even Theta is locked behind Arena
@@skyebaldwin3087 they already intend on adding an ironman mode, though i think it would be cringe to separate the playerbase even further by making another set of servers (pvp and pve already exist) which currently contributes to the game feeling far more dead this wipe.
Lol, for people who have been around for years. EOD was super controversial too, it was super weird that EOD edition players were calling unheard edition p2w while ignoring all the drama when people said eod was pay to win and eod players brushed it under the bus
unreasonable to you is not unreasonable to me. just like anything you buy in this world, if you see value in something, then you spend the money on something
Dont forget being at the mercy of daily quest RNG to get Jeager 3 (to build important hideout upgrades) unless you wanna do a LOT of bullshit. Nevermind getting lvl 4 unless you're a veteran who knows the easy ways to finish a majority of his quests.
Pro tip, recycle quests that only cost rubbles and not rep on other traders (unless you can afford the hit) until you get jager quests with rep you can do.
Huh? Jaeger is super easy. I got lucky and got the 3 bolt action kills on factory in 2 raids but still, that’s the only one I ever struggle with, really. Dehydration and finding food and killing scavs is super easy
Gas analyzer is only rare when you need it for the quest. Once you complete the quest you will regularly find at least 3 of them per raid. Same goes for matches. You need 3 of them for the beginner quests but you won't even find one for weeks. Honestly once you get your bitcoin farm up and running, you don't have to worry about money anymore. It takes forever to get to that point though.
As someone who couldn't afford EoD and now is not even close to being able to get UE (it literally costs over half my monthly salary). Being stuck with no stash space, no good secure container, no loyalty levels (specially bad for jaeger and therapist) and now, being FORCED to do lighthouse... Yeah no I'll do something else.
Using Alpha and trying the gamma case on SPT….. dude I had a completely different experience. 2 stacks of extra ammo, a CMS, and a Docs case and three more slots left? Crazy. Also the almost unlimited-looking stash compared to stash lv1…
Stash lines and cases definitely will assist in progression as you can hold onto more quest items and more items in general that will help your progress across the board. Having to upgrade your stash in standard sets you back. FACT. It takes me twice as much effort and some extra play time to stay on par with my buddies who have the upgraded editions.
Glad you followed up on your original video, and realized how much of a disadvantage the alpha container is. However, the whole "negligible" p2w argument is just pointless. being pay to win is not something you put on a scale, a game is either p2w or its not. No matter how "small" the difference is. Tarkov, one of the most egregious cases of p2w in any game ever made, is OBVIOUSLY P2W. I don't know why people try to make the argument that its not p2w, or the p2w advantages are "negligible". Also, even if you get the epsilon container, you're still 1 short of the gamma container. And the next free container you're going to get is kappa. So until you get kappa, you are permanently disabled compared to a p2w account. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
Agreed. Tarkov, as you said, is one of the most egregiously p2w games out there. I have no idea what constitutes as 'pay to win' for the people that defend it. Plenty of people even consider cosmetics to be p2w because they may help your character blend in the environment better. Tarkov literally gives you objectively better guns and gear that helps you win gunfights.
@@witherwarrior1148 yeah I'm an EoD Owner and I agree that my edition is P2W and Unheard is even worse. Direct advantages: - Better starting gear, weapons and ammo - Increased skill levels - Larger secure container (meaning you can bring better/more meds risk free into the raid aswell as a docs/sicc/injecs case) Indirect advantages: - Larger stash size (apart from the insane cost to upgrade the stash this also means the ability to store more gear and items overall) - Starting with Loot containers (not only once again saving you tons of cash but also further improving your ability to keep anything you wanna keep) - Improved Trader Rep (meaning you'll unlock higher traders and the advantages that come along with it earlier, thus giving you an advantage, especially true without a flea atm) The new patch made it even worse imo. Now that you need to find everything in raid for your hideout upgrades this means that standard edition owners can't even rely on being things they miss on the flea to upgrade their stash, making it even harder for them to store items. And all of that is just scraping the top of the gigantic iceberg those advantages bring.
@sixtyinsix It doesn't have to be yet the player base rushes itself to max traders and gets burned out in a month. Then the people who play more casually leave because good players with good gear is all there is left. Also the core game has not changed at all and after the new content gets boring it is just kind of the same thing from wipe to wipe. So yes I agree it is a great game that people would rather watch than grind.
@@Gunner8_because said gear, traders and character skills give huge advantage. You not just lack options but also same options perform worse. If skills got removed, modules wouldn’t matter THAT much and Armor to ammo balance shifted towards ammo (better overall pen and blunt damage) - the game would be more skill based and casual player would stand a better chance of
How? I've literally never had any issue progressing in tarkov, and I work a very demanding job. Yes yes dad of 54 kids with a 200 hour week memes aside, you can progress and be competitive without putting a lot of time into it. It is so much better than before face hitbox , where I literally couldn't pvp some kits and had to cower in a bush because they had full head protection against my shit ammo
@@JackBodnar I agree , skills are honestly dumb because of how long they take to unlock, even with the gym. But I've literally played a full wipe with 9mm smgs only and had no issues being competitive. Faceshields don't show up consistently until late wipe, at which point you usually have access to either RIP or AP ammo to deal with them, just as one example.
Try SPT with mods. I played 4 wipes before first try, it's a completely different game and is even more fun than regular Tarkov, what feels especially good is knowing there is no one watching you trough walls and counting your items worth. Also there's FIKA mod for local server coop if you have friends who play with you.
Stash upgrade and gamma container basically sold EoD for the longest time and BSG learned from that. And what they learned is that people will pay lots to have things easier and less grindy. So when BSG needs money they apply that knowledge and add something that makes things easier or more convenient, the result is the unheard edition. People then complain, but buy it anyway. The cycle continues. All while none of the upgraded editions come with anything interesting, it's all just random boosts.
And now with the stuff for upgrading the hideout has to be FIR, it is way more hard. Forget the "i gonna hoard that for my upgrade level 2" because you will run out of space so fast.
It always felt like “pay for quality of life,” rather than stock standard P2W. My first 3 wipes were spent earning max stash and earning the epsilon as my “big,” goal.
As a standard account user for years I can say that I slightly regret not getting EOD when I could, I did have a friend use store credit and buy me stash space and it def has helped. the 2x2 stash is awful and greatly impacts early wipe for a person but over the years you kind of get use to it and just grind out the punisher quest line so you can at least have a decent container size.
Pretty much the main reason back in the day I upgraded to EoD from a standard account. The stash alone felt more like PtW push vs actually being something to work towards. Then again this is BSG and if anyone remembers contract wars they pulled the same stunt in that game too.
2 things that might also be added to the questing and rep part. if you are a newer player you might have more trouble actualy getting quests done, be more dependent on storing any kinda gear (since you die more/make less money) and dont yet know all the items you need/what quests to combine/the best spots to find specific items. Couple that with a much lower Stash and keeping all the items for hideout+ quests becomes a even bigger problem that might also delay your progression (yes it can be countered bye knowledge/skill but thats true for a good chunk of the quest progression also more deaths/Less efficient routes etc means more retrys + more kills happening on the way so agein more exp compared to Rep (though that is mostly for early quests since midgame quest xp just takes over)
Everything you said at the 5min mark resonated with me extremely hard. I felt the exact same way with that entire questline that it made me take a break from Tarkov for a bit just because it was just me bashing my head against the wall until I got lucky enough.
Thanks for being willing to look back at your previous views. Trader rep + stash size are the real killers of the standard edition, and what sets back standard edition players from progressing as fast as EOD/Unheard players.
Dang, I played Standard Edition the first few wipes and the progression seemed reasonable, perhaps slightly annoying because I didn't know how to manage my stash, but it seems they made it far worse. At least now you can sell stuff on the flea market so you can keep your stash empty, though.
I made a comment on the prior video covering all of the points that were covered in this one. You hit every single point I made there, and I greatly appreciate the effort being made to understand where a standard player comes from. Most people would make points about standard accounts without even considering playing as one themselves. Bravo Leviticus 👏 👏 👏
I've had EOD for about 6 years and the soft-locking is huge. This wipe I only got the analyzers from crafting even running tech crates. In the past me and my friend would get soft locked on the customs director office key even though we were running jackets. The stash and container are mitigated by upgrades and cases but you will never feel like you have enough space. Being soft locked on traders is a death sentence if you don't know how to get gear. Imagine having 7mm buck or 7.62 fmj against chads late wipe? It's a nightmare.
I did the punisher all the way and now doing lightkeeper quests, and I must say that start was ruff, but now when I have learned the flow of lighthouse I have started liking it a lot.
The problem is the time spend in game to get a lesser version of the good item, is sooo much more than what it takes in real life to make the $50 needed to just buy a way better version and skip so many little problems. I started as a standard player as i was given a free key during a christmas event, i played 2 wipes before finally upgrading to EOD during half off sale, fast forward years and im an unheard nerd. I only ever upgraded editions simply because it gave me either more stash space, a better container, from standard to EOD the extra equipment is huge. The trader rep USED to be a big reason for my upgrades but as i got better at the game the rep stopped making any noticeable difference. Its pay for advantages, but you still won't always win. So you can call it P2W or say its not, it just depends on your perspective. Its undeniable that paying more makes the game less harsh in many ways. I find myself embarrassing Unheard players way more often than White names, lots of Unheard dumpster noobs who thought they actually did pay to win
@@rebull8262 damn that is rough, i have heard their conversion rates are really really bad. Completely fair to say that for some countries peoples it doesn't reach the equilibrium for time vs money
to be honest, playing STANDARD edition and force me to go to Lighthouse? I RATHER JUST TURN OFF PC AND GO WORK SECOND JOB BECAUSE I GOT PAID FOR DOING A JOB IN TARKOV MANY TASK FEEL LIKE A JOB WITHOUT A PENNY SALARY
The main problem I have with the standard account is the Stash upgrades. The limited stash space forces me to sell stuff to traders for cheap and to constantly buy new gear as I didn’t have the space. So it’s not just the price of the stash that’s the problem. The smaller stash itself limits a standard accounts earnings. The punisher questline to get the epsilon case is fine and it feels rewarding (except for punisher 4 lighthouse can go fuck itself).
Yep, as a Standard Edition player after trying to do Kappa last wipe I am done with Lighthouse once and for all. I don't even care for the Epsilon container, I just don't run CMS.
Really appreciate you taking a wipe to test just what standard edition feels like. Most wipes I too grinded epsilon and then quit because of how burned out I was, how far behind on gear I was, etc. I don't play anymore. Might come back if they fix standard progression (they won't).
I am on Punisher part 4 in PVE, and the other issue I have is that you can only take a scav vest because of the quest requirements. Its a pretty gross quesline
Man i dont even have tarkov or plan to get it ever. Just too much stress. But i really REALLY like watching your commentary. Its genuinly entertaining keep going honestly
Glad you noticed where you missed last time, and also good to see you tried a std account to see how it really impacts the overall experience depending on which version you got, not many people have the guts to admit they were wrong
Honestly the idea that all our hideout construction is done by a team of scavs you hire is pretty good. Maybe some of the weirder things involved in those crafts is just a barter payment for services rendered
Like you said about the trader rep and space it won't win you gun fights but it increases your speed of progress both in unlocking new better items ammo weapons armor. You can get Peacekeeper and Jager level 2 without doing a single task for them. It also frees up having to spend roubles on stash and containers which translates to more roubles available for pushing through deaths and tasks to also help progression. Again none of those directly make the game easier but they remove some roadblocks to progression. A good player who spends hours a day playing will be just fine with any version of the game but I'd say at the bare minimum it saves you many hours of progress per wipe and the Gamma container has a high ceiling of profit say you find 2 GPUs on labs but you only have a alpha container with a docs case and some keys / cards in it. You can't both GPUs in there but with a Gamma you're absolutely fine taking our your CMS pain killer and a stack of ammo to stuff both in. The pockets are negligible good for tasks like punisher or set up where you need to wear a scav vest but for the most part I'd say they're only 2 extra squares of space. Appreciate your scientific approach and analysis it's a paid advantage for sure but it's not like they put a Ghille suit or gave unheard addition zero footstep audio
I play on Standard edition and this video is very catharthic since a lot of EOD players scoff and minimize the advantage they have. Although, I think it's funny that you feel such a big need to expand your container, since you know how better the other ones are, while I just vibe with Alpha since it's what I'm used to haha.
I'm not sure how so many people have trouble with lighthouse pvp. It's a sniper map. Do the quest while simultaneously working something else. You have three lanes. Pick a lane, guard that lane, leave.
My wipe is pretty much done after acquiring the epsilon container. All this time I thought it was because I had nothing more to really look forward to progression wise but now I'm thinking it might just be me burning out because of grinding for epsilon.
I had to craft 2 of the 3 gas analyzers to get the therapist quests done, fortunately doing scav raids while I waited I found all the morphine injectors and some spark plugs and batteries to get a head start in the quests after. I gave the gas analyzers in, and the raid after I found 3 of them. Tarkov at its finest.
I’ve been watching for a while now and I gotta say I love your content even if I don’t play Tarkov since that game hurts to play. I remember you saying something a long time ago about you branching out with your games so I’ve got one to suggest for you it’s called Silica if you like RTS/FPS games it’s a pretty interesting indie game
honestly just increase the amount of secure containers in the game, make them more accessible and decrease stash size upgrade costs by a ton. The more expensive game editions shouldn't really give u a almost permanent advantage since it was seen as funding for the devs....
Does anyone else agree that For example acquiring the gamma case and extra stash space could be added and that would be progress that wouldnt be reset upon wipe?
Probably the reason they moved punisher 4 on lighthouse was that a lot of people were complaining of shoreline (before it was reworked). From personal experience I was litteraly unable to find people on that map. I l'd either get a shit spawn on the other side of the map and would go to resort where all the pvp already happened because it took me 10 minutes of running there or I would get a good spawn and get killed by a litteral tank 10 levels ahead of me (this was when I started playing the game so probably a skill issue). Either way you couldn't find players anywhere other than the resort where I would get decimated by tanks.
Lol you cant even buy hideout parts off the flea market now. Its ridiculous. Standard accounts and anyone who plays the game casually can't anymore basically
I had the no rep bug at the start of wipe that meant I didn’t get the bonus rep for EOD and it was a grind but I managed to get to level 3 and some level 4 traders before I finally got the rep after a MONTH from the start of wipe
What I can say as a player used to the game and played standard, if you're good at the game then it's about a 3 week handicap which is kind of annoying if you want to play with friends and fuck around.
I ve been playing on standard edition from almost start of my eft adventure and yes, stash at first is tiny and you have to do more quests but that's pretty all. Money is so easly accessible even gear is in late wipe so that 2.5 milion (it used to be 3.5 mil or sth like that - they reduced the cost long time ago) cost of upgrading your stash is nothing really, littlebit later on you have cases from doing quests too (you only have to upgrade stash 2lv up to be not worrying about the stash space anymore - 1st lv is like 2.5 mil plus few shitty cheap tools, and second is like 6 mil so you do not have to spend 44 mil to have only good enough stash). The worst part of gettting epsilon is going to lighthouse now and if community would speak about it i'm sure they would change it and it is not really that long to get epsilon - there are 6 punisher quests + you do like 10-15 quests earllier to get almost the biggest secure container in a game. Like every old player of Tarkov said I will say that the true tarkov players are the standard edition player/or people who started with standard edition and upgraded. Tarkov always was grindy and idk why everyone just woke up and speak about it - and this do not makes tarkov pay to win because you do not pay for any additional advantage in raid playing against other editions in a game - you die no matter what addition you have. In a contrast take "Arena Breakout Infinite" where you just can buy in game currency and buy every bit of gear, bigger secure container for some time and stash for amount of time and more. There is diffrence about gear you start with and gear withch you can buy for real money no matter what and when you feel like it - just image 1st day of the wipe and 5man decides to buy best armor in a game and run facory on first days that is real cancer ABI. ABI players will tell you that ABI is not pay to win, so if ABI is not p2w, Tarkov for shure has nothing in common with p2w.
The RNG quests are easy to fix and this was discussed to death, but same as ridiculous cost for upgrades and all other seemingly stupid designs I think they are kept there to basically force players to buy more expensive versions. It is not P2W it is common "pay for progression", where game design is deliberately frustrating that you would rather pay to avoid it. I have said long ago that all RNG quest (and I mean ALL) should be replaced with quest items (which is mechanic that is already in the game for some quests). So instead of needing 10 raids in interchange to find 15 tushonkas, you go there once to find "box of tushankas" which is 100% there and only shown for people with the quest. For gas analysers it may be locked in the dorm room or something. Also of note here - I don't have issue with these quests when I play with friends, basically somebody in the raid always found salevas, or whatever crap is needed and we can simply share the loot at the end for whomever needs what for quests. But playing solo is whole another matter... you die with quest item and it is so painful... EFT in general is like 10 times more painful playing alone than with the team, which is kind of realistic but kind of sucks as well. And I think over the top of everything is the wipe. As EOD owner or whatever, the wipe is "nice fresh start" as standard edition owner it is fffing nightmare. This is basically the main reason I no longer play PVP and mostly pay PVE, specifically wipes and hideout rebuild. Because you spent most of the wipe building the hideout, just for it to be reset and to start the grind again. I think solution would be to introduce partial wipes e.g. that clear your levels and quest progress, but keeps skills and hideout as it is... I know it would be unfair for new players, but it would be more fair for existing players... that said again - this is by design and game wants to force you into upgrading, it is not very subtle at all.
I played for about 100 hours on a standard, I enjoyed it but I really hated not having the stash space, container and rep. If I didn’t get EOD I probably wouldn’t have played anymore.
Although I agree Lighthouse needs to be reworked due to horrendous spawns and map flow, I don’t agree about the no silver lining. The loot on this map, particularly this wipe, has been really good in combination with the XP you get from rogues. I consistently find Bitcoins, Virtex, and other rare spawn items in the treatment center. I also consistently find 100+ rounds of high tier ammo on the roofs.
For my experience in PVE it is completely the opposite, I feel like the lighthouse is probably the easiest map of them all, most of the time there is almost no one or only a few person in chalet (probably USEC Cottage as well), which makes it very easy to loot valuable items, the extract is safe as well, just run towards the southern road, maybe take down the sniper and it’s all good, barely any encounters
Hits harder now that you can't buy stuff off the flea anymore. Insane because I've been locked out of WB L2 because I cannot find a set of master files anywhere.
Ive been playing since 2019. I slowly bought the upgrades over the span of a year. Definitely start with standard and work your way up. I only felt comfortbale buying EoD when i hit 500 hours. I knew i was in for the long haul at that point.
And it got worse with the hideout changes this wipe. You need to horde shit you do not have the space for anymore. Oh and the flea beeing unavailable too as you have problems with traders, like you mention, and are not even able to buy stuff from the flea anymore. So they want to push you to pay 140 more dollars for their game and everyone is okay with it.
In many ways, playing tarkov with the standard edition feels like playing a game free-to-play. At least I can take comfort in knowing that treatment seems to now also appy to anyone with less than the most expensive edition.
I still don't get people who can't get traders to max rep (except people who don't have a lot of free time) because as a former standard edition user for 2 years I managed to max them almost every wipe in a month or so, of course having EoD/unheard helps in that but I'd say only by 30-40%, because you still have to grind the level and the best way to do that is tasks
I say part of the intrigue with standard edition is that you have to manage yourself upon limited resources. To me its not fun really to be presented with everything you can at the start. Having to making decisions and incentives to use weapons in your stash adds a lot to the experience
Only if you want the secure container... Pestily succeeds despite ditching his in hardcore... but then he's a god, so if you're not one then yeah, maybe pay to lose less :D

Veritas and Jesse Kazzam put it very well. It depends on your definition of “pay to win.” Trader rep and the amount of money you have to dump into the stash to upgrade it to full size is insane, and what held me back more than anything. The epsilon container is easy enough to get, and comparable enough to the gamma, that I don’t really worry about that too much. Trader rep fuckin hurts, though.

@@peter2b2t man shits taking me back i came into the game when interchange dropped
Literally every other person is cheating so yes, it is pay to win. Give money to Xi Xinping, win. Hope this helps 👍🏻
There's no such thing as p2w in tarkov unless your playing with cheats
I purchased each edition of the game in increments leading up to EOD. It's pretty handy to have it if you plan on putting 1k+ hours like I had.
Exactly, got each single one, haven't god unheard bc I don't care about pockets I can just run a scav vest
Having to use installments to pay for a video game is not a good business practice. I'm talking about the current prices, EOD back in the day was actually at a very good price point imo.
You definitely got your moneys worth. Just viewing a movie would be much more expensive on the amount of hours by dollar basis
@@demjan96 Congratulations, you just described being bottlenecked into specific weapons and builds instead of being able to bring whatever meta loadouts an unheard player can.
man i only run a single extra mag
@@Relf_G In all fairness, even with the restricted vest pockets, there is still alot of option and player agency. M4 with 60rd mags, M1A, any DMR, Shotguns, hell pistols even... Not to mention you can keep extra mags in your backpack, and swap them out for empties as you burn mags. Inconvenient? Little, but manageable...
@@Addertach this is exactly what I've been doing. It's not a big deal if you go slow. The PvP on that map just straight sucks though. And because it sucks, so many people rat and snipe, making many of the alts like running a shotgun or pistol kinda worthless. The map is just a garbage map.

This could be a cool event if they could open separate servers for an "ironman wipe" or something like that. I'd sign up to that for sure.

Dont forget being at the mercy of daily quest RNG to get Jeager 3 (to build important hideout upgrades) unless you wanna do a LOT of bullshit.
Nevermind getting lvl 4 unless you're a veteran who knows the easy ways to finish a majority of his quests.
Pro tip, recycle quests that only cost rubbles and not rep on other traders (unless you can afford the hit) until you get jager quests with rep you can do.
lvl4 jaegar is light i got him so easy first wipe

Love your videos, keep up the good work.
people are weirdly unable to acknowledge that things they like have some bad parts for some reason.
Direct advantages:
- Better starting gear, weapons and ammo
- Increased skill levels
- Larger secure container (meaning you can bring better/more meds risk free into the raid aswell as a docs/sicc/injecs case)
Indirect advantages:
- Larger stash size (apart from the insane cost to upgrade the stash this also means the ability to store more gear and items overall)
- Starting with Loot containers (not only once again saving you tons of cash but also further improving your ability to keep anything you wanna keep)
- Improved Trader Rep (meaning you'll unlock higher traders and the advantages that come along with it earlier, thus giving you an advantage, especially true without a flea atm)
The new patch made it even worse imo. Now that you need to find everything in raid for your hideout upgrades this means that standard edition owners can't even rely on being things they miss on the flea to upgrade their stash, making it even harder for them to store items. And all of that is just scraping the top of the gigantic iceberg those advantages bring.
After years of playing off and on I think Tarkov is a streamers game.
They made hideout upgrades FIR-only?? lol. lmao, even
Rip to standard edition now as you can't upgrade the hideout without found in raid items 😂
It always felt like “pay for quality of life,” rather than stock standard P2W.
My first 3 wipes were spent earning max stash and earning the epsilon as my “big,” goal.
seems like p2w for me, as you pay to not have to do any of that, freeing you up to focus on other things.
progressing is winning in this game.
I honestly feel the standard edition stash size is wayyyy too painful. You spent 50 dollar to spend 5-15 minutes doing puzzle game every run.
A few wipes back, when the grind started to get really bad, I bought EoD, and the difference in progression speed was like night and day.
The bonus rep has so much impact on jager especially. I resisted eod until it was going away.
Couple that with a much lower Stash and keeping all the items for hideout+ quests becomes a even bigger problem that might also delay your progression (yes it can be countered bye knowledge/skill but thats true for a good chunk of the quest progression
also more deaths/Less efficient routes etc means more retrys + more kills happening on the way so agein more exp compared to Rep (though that is mostly for early quests since midgame quest xp just takes over)
Everything you said at the 5min mark resonated with me extremely hard.
That tangent at 1:52 killed me; thank you
I've had EOD for about 6 years and the soft-locking is huge.
3:00
You..you can craft it. Every quest item (that’s not “exclusive” to the quest) can be crafted. Salewa’s, Gazan’s and etc can be crafted
That argument only exists if you currency is dollars, back when I bought Tarkov EOD would cost a months salary on my currency lol
@@rebull8262 damn that is rough, i have heard their conversion rates are really really bad. Completely fair to say that for some countries peoples it doesn't reach the equilibrium for time vs money
to be honest, playing STANDARD edition and force me to go to Lighthouse? I RATHER JUST TURN OFF PC AND GO WORK SECOND JOB BECAUSE I GOT PAID FOR DOING A JOB
IN TARKOV MANY TASK FEEL LIKE A JOB WITHOUT A PENNY SALARY
As someone who just bought the standard edition, im glad to know that im screwed from the get-go lol
My favorite part of being a standard account player is having a dogtag case full of unheard tags
I still remembered the days I spent to grind to Epsilon in 12.12
I played half the wipe at the bit coin 1mil wipe and I immediately upgraded to EOD since gamma case is much more handy in pistol running
My wipe is pretty much done after acquiring the epsilon container. All this time I thought it was because I had nothing more to really look forward to progression wise but now I'm thinking it might just be me burning out because of grinding for epsilon.
You’re looking beefy my man! Keep it up love the content
Epsilon, sometimes, even better than gamma in some cases. You can put a whole tank battery there, for example

"Left Behind" 😂😂😂
I have found 3 ledx so far since i started playing but I would trade them all for a measuring thingy so I can finally build a door for my hideout
honestly just increase the amount of secure containers in the game, make them more accessible and decrease stash size upgrade costs by a ton. The more expensive game editions shouldn't really give u a almost permanent advantage since it was seen as funding for the devs....
Cant wait till he hears about the only in raid for upgrading the hideout.
I wonder why more people don’t opt for left behind as a alternative to Unheard you start with the beta and increased trader rep
Does anyone else agree that For example acquiring the gamma case and extra stash space could be added and that would be progress that wouldnt be reset upon wipe?
I upgraded my stash my first wipe and bought EOD the next wipe
Probably the reason they moved punisher 4 on lighthouse was that a lot of people were complaining of shoreline (before it was reworked). From personal experience I was litteraly unable to find people on that map. I l'd either get a shit spawn on the other side of the map and would go to resort where all the pvp already happened because it took me 10 minutes of running there or I would get a good spawn and get killed by a litteral tank 10 levels ahead of me (this was when I started playing the game so probably a skill issue). Either way you couldn't find players anywhere other than the resort where I would get decimated by tanks.
You sir are the real GIGACHAD
Lol you cant even buy hideout parts off the flea market now. Its ridiculous. Standard accounts and anyone who plays the game casually can't anymore basically
I agree alot with this statment. Every time i finish punisher im so tired of the game i dont want to play anymore
Lighthouse is a good map for me because you can just farm the rogues at the northern part of the map, tier 4+ rigs and weapons worth 100k+.
I had the no rep bug at the start of wipe that meant I didn’t get the bonus rep for EOD and it was a grind but I managed to get to level 3 and some level 4 traders before I finally got the rep after a MONTH from the start of wipe
What I can say as a player used to the game and played standard, if you're good at the game then it's about a 3 week handicap which is kind of annoying if you want to play with friends and fuck around.
woahhhhhhhh. Honestly surprised to see this video. I think this is really cool of you :)
6:53 what a beautiful pun
probably should revisit this now that hideout needs to be FiR. stash space is a nightmare for the standards now
The RNG quests are easy to fix and this was discussed to death, but same as ridiculous cost for upgrades and all other seemingly stupid designs I think they are kept there to basically force players to buy more expensive versions.
0:20 i bet 3/4 of them don't even play lol
It'd be more accurate to say 3/4ths are likely just bots.
its fake lol its not even his video, his video has 6k up and 1k down
When they moved the Punisher quest part to Lighthouse even I felt sad for the Standard players if it was woods/shoreline then it would be fine.
Ive been playing since 2019. I slowly bought the upgrades over the span of a year. Definitely start with standard and work your way up. I only felt comfortbale buying EoD when i hit 500 hours. I knew i was in for the long haul at that point.
I run a water bottle and CAR kit in my Alpha container, when i need a quest item that doesnt require FIR i ditch the water bottle.
The stash costing 44 mil for level 4 is ridiculous that needs to at least be cut in half
The gas analyzer is so real. I was trying for that shit for like 20 raids
Now I find like 3 a raid
Played 3 wipes with 2 friends with EOD. I play 3x more and we are at the same progression pace.
I say part of the intrigue with standard edition is that you have to manage yourself upon limited resources. To me its not fun really to be presented with everything you can at the start. Having to making decisions and incentives to use weapons in your stash adds a lot to the experience
My first Kappa was like my 3rd or 4th wipe on a standard account. That was the wipe they added Loothouse, and I proceeded to buy EoD from then on.
Only if you want the secure container... Pestily succeeds despite ditching his in hardcore... but then he's a god, so if you're not one then yeah, maybe pay to lose less :D
A guy that plays the game as a job can play with a disavantage, how's that surprising?
@@Limaonyxas someone who has played for less than 6 months but still does z2h runs
you can play at a disadvantage too and you might even have more fun doing it.
@@SaltSpiritsz2h is literally a totally different situation are you dense?
WOOOOOOO standard issue ftw
Well now you know my pain every wipe
for all my standard gamers, you get 2 stash upgrades. DO punisher, and then get the gym and max ur strength and stamina. Trimadol is also your friend. You can still get there. godspeed.
Tbh, I like the huge progression mountain to climb. Always had standard edition, still like the game
Veritas and Jesse Kazzam put it very well. It depends on your definition of “pay to win.”
Trader rep and the amount of money you have to dump into the stash to upgrade it to full size is insane, and what held me back more than anything. The epsilon container is easy enough to get, and comparable enough to the gamma, that I don’t really worry about that too much. Trader rep fuckin hurts, though.
i love your videos bro youre my fav tarkov creator bro keep up man!
