The best performance of river dance so far. Perfect cast, second to no one. This can only be done at one certain time by one certain group of people. Unable to be reproduced. That's how we define art.
Okay, talent and choreography aside, has any one taken into account the sheer amount of force these dancers have generated with their legs alone? Simply incredible!

This is still amazing. Jean Butler and Colin Dunne just owned the stage and Jean was like a team Captain for a sporting event - just had such a stage presence that she could command the other dancers with the slightest of gestures. It is no wonder this has been such a huge world wide success for almost 25 years.
I get a pure sence of Irish just rising up from the pit of my stomach. Especially when the dancers are flashing their heads from left to right and the music raises up. Brilliant.
Jean Butler and Colin Dunne were my absolute favourites to watch performing this show. Thank you for uploading this in high video and sound quality, from Ireland.
Absolutely amazing show. Irish step dance is the heartbeat of Ireland. I saw Riverdance several years ago and was wowed by it. I also saw Michael Flatley a while back in Lord of The Dance and he was beyond amazing. I cherish the memory of these performances.
thank you for your comment. Michael Flatley created a great monument with his unrivaled talent and effort. And both Jean Butler and Colin Dunne. Praise for the indomitable steps cultivated in Ireland's majestic turmoil.
Fantastic loved it no body can dance as good as them the Irish danceing is hard and the best well done to them all wish they could come to reading Berkshire love them
Michael Flatley was a great showman and really excelled at putting on a performance, but Colin Dunne was such a flawless technician and brought an unrivalled level of class to Riverdance.
Totally agree. Michael was. N awesome showman, just what it needed at the time. But Colin is an absolute master. The energy between him and Jean Butler was never surpassed.
Nothing quite like when the two leads "alone" on the stage make it to the top of the stairs and then the sound of dozens of feet in unison start up. That's when you realize the show has only just begun.
Years and years. I started Irish dance when I was 23 years old (I'm still dancing and this year will mark my 10th year in this world). In class, there are quite a number of advanced dancers and when we were rehearsing for some performance somewhat years ago, I really thought being in sync would not be such a problem. BIG MISTAKE! It was far, far harder to stay in sync with everyone else as you have to listen to the music and your inner rhythm, while you tend to listen to the person(s) next to you. If he or she slows down or speeds up slightly, it's easy to try and correct that by following the rhythm while you really shouldn't. And like that ain't enough, this is also a group-dance. Same situation in class, same dancers. I was not practicing the group-dance they were doing so I was just an onlooker, but as those dancers were 'level 3' dancers (out of the basically 4 their are (for those Commission dancers reading this: I know it's not really 4, but please do not make it more complicated) I expected them to have little trouble nailing a relatively simple group dance. WRONG! As soon as everybody started moving, one of the girls almost immediately stopped and went 'woow!.... Wow!.... no... wait... wow!' and put her hands to her head as I could just see her brain-meltdown taking place (and I can relate to that, because that was my reaction as well the first time I had to take part in a group-dance). Since then I basically say there are 4 levels a solo-dancer can reach, but there's an extra 4 levels involved: The first mental blow is the soft-shoe stuff you learn. You think you'll first dance will be easy, but it's not. It will wear you down like you have never imagined it would. Then, when you have mastered your soft-shoe stuff and you can buy your heavy shoes, you basically get thrown back to the start. Getting to know those shoes, finding/practicing the strength to stand on your toes on those things is a huge mental blow, as it looks so easy when a dancer that masters those shoes performs a few steps. And when you master that, you get to the group-dances: though not every dancer will have such a hard time, I was glad to see I wasn't the only one struggling with remembering your own steps ánd knowing your place in the group. And then there is staying in sync on heavy shoes...
@@videotek2cg Indeed! I started when I was 23 and I'm still dancing at age 33. The oldest class-member is well into her fifties and still dancing! Ofcourse, not with top-perfection like this, but still! Go for it while you still can!
