I spent my childhood watching the 'Best of Riverdance' movie over and over and over.... I would die to see it live, and I often wished I had taken riverdance classes instead of classical ballet :)
Really awesome performance. Love it when they dance in the pin wheel, and then the circle, and then fan out at the end like they did. Great job is all I can say! ;)
love this version! best I've seen. not a flatley fan - his arrogance and ego always overshadowed the performance. Colin Dunne is top notch - love his style and his charm shines through.
I think it starts by deciding on what you want to say. What do you want an audience to experience? Then it would be time to decide how to present that idea on stage (what types of music would be featured, dance styles, etc. that best correlate to your thematic choices.) Riverdance comes around 2 ideas in 2 acts. Act I is a celebration of the elements of nature (the sun, moon, earth, fire, air and water). Act II tells the history of Irish immigrants from the homeland & back as a new generation.
I do love this!!! I'm glad that Jean butler was more in the finale in this show than when she was in michaels show! Plus when it comes to the famous in the air click of the shoes no one can do it better than michael! Collin I agree is a really great dancer but still lol
colin dunne was technically far superior to Michael flatley. flatley is and was the most amazing show man with charisma and ability. there is no question, but colin dunne, technically is way above the ability of flatley. dunne could literally fly. dunne is an irish dancing master. flatley is a charmer. both have great appeal, but for me, dunne is, by far, the better dancer......
Just from style I prefer Colin Dunne. Nothing against Flatley. This entire performance is very enjoyable--I miss the foot swipes in the beginning though. They only dragged their feet a few inches, I liked when they kinda pull them along further, looks very elegant. Aside from that... I prefer this to the 1995 performance on here. :) Can't compare to a live performance probably though!
Jeeze Colin needs to smile more.......Michael always looked like he was actually enjoying himself up there. i understand that sometimes it needs to be serious, like the ensemble doesn't smile, but the lead should at least show that he appreciates the audience
3:51 just the synchronized movement is absolutely astounding, I absolutely love this :D
Both my ankles broke just watching this.

I'm gonna use this music for my figure skating competition I got shock by the music filled with happiness
Watching this makes me wish I could dance like them...
the show of all times, i'm watching the show almost every week since 97, and still the same feelings.
Colin is the greatest dancer to have ever blessed Irish dance and Riverdance. It's really sad he didn't last longer with the show.

I can't stop watching, and I don't want to. I like these well known faces.
Amazing! Especially, the beginning of partly steps and following all members steps. I love that scene and have watched again and again.

love this music and dance! Fab!

Make it like 300 for me...Since 1997.

That's Colin Dunn
Dunne*
I LOVE this version! So intense! I'm not much of a Michael Flately fan. Man can dance, but I prefer Colin more!

Hello Colin
How does one come up with a show like this ?
Colin far surpassed Flatley in ability and in generosity xx
Is this New York? It looks exactly like the film of Reel Around the Sun recorded in Geneva.
It's New York, but they use the same set, music, lighting, choreography, for every show no matter where they are
It is Radio City Music Hall, the stage was set up the same for the some of the shows in the years that followed 1995
Yes it is at Radio City Music Hall.
Not with Jean Butler.
Colin in an amazing man and dancer. But I will always love Michael Flately more.
@kewlottaviano Leave Michael Flatley alone!
Colin is soooo much better than Fatley.
