yo man i was hoping you could help me out with deciding on if i should get the sample, beats, or drum? i know are all intended for different uses but i got a monologue myself and im trying to add some variation to what i can create. my knowledge is pretty minimal in this whole spectrum of things, but from what i've read the sample seems to have the capabilities as the others and a little more. I am also keen on the sampling aspect of it. so ya im not exactly sure what point im tryna get across but just any sort of info would be helpful!
Hey! I love the Sample but to tell you the truth, I haven't changed samples on it since I bought it as the sampling process is quite a challenge. Finding the right samples, using your phone to upload them to Sample.. I haven't really figured it out yet. I wish I'd bought a beats/drum/kick instead. I got the PO-35 for drums now, it's a bit limiting but I like it. So my advice is to go with a rhythm machine. Maybe look into Volca FM, it looks like a cool toy to play with along with the Monologue. Don't go with another monophonic synth - having two monophonic synths and zero other equipment would drive me crazy. Monologue is great for basses and squeaky sounds so you'll need something brighter (polisynth?) or a drum machine, to add a rhythm. Hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask. ☺
@@Ayitdj Thank you so much for the response! I have read that about the sample myself with the process being challenging. As of now i think i am definetly looking more for a drum machine, like you said something to add rythm (as I am sure the inevitable third piece of equipment is incoming) and i think can work with the variations of sounds from the monologue for now. I guess one other thing is that i wouldn't necessarily mind spending a little more on another piece of equipment, probably not more than the monologue itself, so do you have any other drum/rythm machine you would recomend? Thanks again extremely helpful!
@@wisemanat2am as proper drum machines cost a little bit more, don't worry about waiting a few more months before buying one. It's all about the sound you want to achieve. If you're looking for a more retro sound, go with the classics such as the TR09 or something similar. The TR8s or the Drumbrute, Electron and so on are all great machines but they cost a lot. I'd still recommend you go with one of the costier ones as they are certainly good. My best recommendation is that you buy a drum machine when you know what sound you want to achieve.
@@Ayitdj hahah yeah it would definetly help if i knew what i wanted to create or the sound im looking for. Well thanks again i think you have helped me narrow it down to beats, drum, or kick. appreciate the quick responses!!
@@Ayitdj@wisemanat2am i’m in the opposite situation right now… have a Volca Sample 2 and just bought a Monologue! loading new samples onto the Volca2 is indeed a pain in the ass but I got it to work with the free program Vosyr on PC (not sure if it’s available on Mac) i’m excited to get my hands on the Monologue after it ships ! bought used too, so got a decent deal 👍
Looks like I gave you some misinformation. I synced the devices using CV, not midi. It's easier to play/pause than with midi, since you don't have to retrigger the master every time you would want to resync.
Nice jam
Quality jam with a minimal setup, super danceable!
The sample and the monologue were one of the first pieces I bought, sweet jam with them bro!👍 BrAp oN!!¡!
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE J-HAM!
AMAZING , MAN!
Nice groove.
Cool man!
Very cool ! Are you using the sync out for this ?
I believe I used the sync out for this, yes.

What types of cables are you using to sync these two together?
At the time of this video I used a midi cable, monologue being the master. Now I sync everything via Ableton using USB cables.
@@Ayitdj Thanks. Awesome jam by the way, I really dig what you were doing around 5:00 minutes in. Very cool sound.
Thank you! I'm very glad you like it ☺
