The number of people who don't give priority to a bus emerging from a stop is shocking. Highway Code Rule 223 Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road.
It is my biggest pet peeve as a bus driver when I am indicating to leave a bus stop. I have to creep forward to assert myself out of the stop because people just will not let me out. I call it ‘I must get in front of the bus syndrome’
I'm a bus driver and everyday I have to deal with terrible driving from arrogant car drivers. Problem is driving is one of those things where nobody will admit there mistakes and every driver has the idea that they are a better driver than anybody else. Everybody makes mistakes we are only human after all, but the one thing I can't stand are those drivers who seem to drive with one hand on the horn and use it to express how angry there are with other drivers. The longer the blast on the horn the longer and more painful a death they wish on you. The horn is not there to vent your anger. I can't think of any other activity in life where a simple or silly mistake is met by some t w a t who wants to burn you alive at the steak. Everybody makes mistakes even people who honks at everybody and then thinks there a much better than the rest of us and then feels so superior because they have never pulled out in front of another car or brake a bit late at the lights. so if your one of these n o b s you know who you are and get over it.
To be fair I don't think I used the horn in any of these clips, but I get your point and agree, I have so many clips that I don't put on here because I can see they are genuine mistakes I can normally spot them ones from the idiots and I try only to concentrate on putting them clips on here, like bus drivers who use bike lanes or the last clip of the bus driver telling me it's a roundabout and I should be giving way to him🤷♂️,. They should know better they are professional drivers that use the same roads every day they have no excuse for driving like that.
@@thelondondashcam Again I say to you... come and learn to drive a bus and see how the majority of other road users treat buses. "Oh I'll stay and wing man you until you put your indicator on to pull out - then I'll speed up and fly past you risking an accident!" But it's always the bus driver that get's the blame. Stop picking on easy targets and lets ALL be more responsible for our skills on the roads of Great Britain!!!
@@MistressValkress I've travelled on buses. I've been on a bike in front of buses. And I can tell with 100% honesty that your awful driving is a major reason I am so happy I can now drive. And as a driver, I continue to see awful driving from bus drivers. From not checking blind spots or even bothering to indicate and just randomly moving off into traffic, to speeding, to stopping right behind traffic (literally centimetres from the bumper - what on Earth is going on in your head to do that?), to trying to intimidate cyclists by driving close to them to force them out of a shared bus and bike lane, to zooming round corners and bends and over speed bumps. And that's not to mention the more serious things such as driving while reading or on a mobile phone. And don't even get me started on the attitudes.
The driving test should be harder for ALL drivers. A car weight roughly 3 to 4 tons, a bus =11tons. Driving is one of THE most dangerous things we do as human beings, therefore we should all respect the dangers... but we don't! This is because as said before - we all forget that we are imperfect and we make mistakes! I'm fed up arguing this fact because those who want money see currency... they do not see human beings!!! Those who have ego's - line up for me to knock your teeth into your throats because you don't deserve to be part of the human race! We are all equal... we are one!
Please note that the bike lane is a dotted line, not continuous. This indicates that larger vehicles are allowed to use this extra width when required. A highway code is in the post!
I think you will find that that rule is for a larger vehicle on a small width road and not to make an extra lane. So you can keep your highway code book thanks and try reading it again.
@@thelondondashcam Can verify this as a bus driver in Southport. Its only to be used only if absolutely necessary. One of my routes goes along a fairly narrow road with bicycle lanes either side. It's usually a very quiet road so I can drive it more towards the middle of the road but I'll move into the bicycle lane if there's oncoming traffic.
@@thelondondashcam Actually to clarify this according to the DVLA "A bicycle lane with a dotted line may be used 'IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY' by any vehicle. At all other times it is supposed to be kept clear" Progress required by a timetable that the bus has to run to is NOT classed as 'absolutely necessary'!
Clip1 - Bus at fault Clip 2 00:20 Driver was indicating and had a car close behind in a potential blind spot. While he could have attempted to stop, the bus had a right of way. Clip 3 00:48 There is no context to the clip, whereby it shows the previous few seconds. There could have been a bus stop and no one would allow the bus to enter the right-hand lane. While he is still in the wrong for turning right (which looking at the traffic light suggests buses are permitted to do a right turn - I will happily be corrected on this) Clip 4 01:00 The bus turning had another bus in front partially obscuring its view. He was indicating right and moved forward. Once the bus had moved forward the ambulance sounded the sirens and this bus stopped. The conditions are not 100% clear and it might be fair to suggest pulled out and misjudged the distance wanting to pull in front of this bus as he was already committed to pulling out of the bus stop. But upon fully understanding the actual proximity of how close the ambulance was to the bus, made the correct decision not to proceed further. By doing this he allowed the ambulance to pass. I could say why are you not moving over slightly allowing more room.. I can not see the gap between your car and the one the other side of the road so maybe an unfair comment to make. I would also like to point out at 01:08 the S1 bus was indicating to pull out of the bus stop. As you were driving at a slow speed unless it was unsafe as cars may have been at an unsafe distance behind, why did you not allow him to exit the bus stop? Clip 5 01:14 Bus at fault Clip 6 02:15 The driver indicated right (your left) and once safe pulled away slowly. As he was a safe slow speed (I would guess under 6MPH) he stopped to talk to the other driver. Now I must make clear my comment is only an assumption and as nor me OR you heard what was being said both yours and my comment do not reflect an accurate portate of the situation. At 01:226 the driver of vehicle E141 (left on your camera) flagged his arm to ask the driver of the oncoming bus to stop. The oncoming bus stopped from 01:36 to 02:02. Its important to note that both buses are doing the same route. It was likely the driver of E141 wanted to alert the driver of a route obstruction, such as road closures, accident or temporary restriction for certain height vehicles. The fact it took around 24 seconds to me looks like the driver exchanging the details of what's affecting the route and the diversion. Control may not have yet made an announcement therefore the driver of bus E141 was alerting the driver. If the driver of E141 hadn't of told the oncoming bus of the problem ahead on the route and the bus got stuck, I assume you would then go "stupid bus driver, blocking the road and not looking where they were going?". It is also key to note for the duration the driver of the oncoming bus continued to indicate right (your left) throughout to ensure no cars overtook, also doing this as he proceeded to accelerate. I did note the motorcyclist briskly overtaking you on the right once this bus had departed, yet you make no comment? Must again make clear nor you OR I heard the bus drivers conversation and we could both have drawn to the wrong answer. Clip 7 03:12 I can't believe I actually have to make a comment on this clip, but you cease to amaze! It is VERY clear (I put capital, letters just to be sure you can see the word) that the driver has stopped, is indicating left in a BUS STOP. The bollards are the to (I assume - not local) to stop traffic passing while the bus has stopped as passengers/pedestrians may walk in front of the bus. The bus pulled away and switched lanes while indicating too. Absolutely nothing wrong apart from your failure to read the road markings and impatient driving. You said at 03:21 'what a perfect place to put bus stop right near bollards so no one can overtake it". You answered your own comment although you make it look like the bus driver was at fault be adding it to your video titled "Bad UK Drivers Vol 22 (London Buses) ". Clip 8 03:28 To me it appeared the driver of the bus had already committed to pulling into the middle of the road to overtake the row of parked cars to your right (his left). I did notice he didn't indicate which fair enough, is wrong of the bus driver. He had a row of cars behind him and stopping suddenly could not have only caused the drivers behind to, but result in a minor accident. Also, the drivers of the cars behind the bus may have not been paying attention and the driver deemed it safe to continue. In this situation, you could argue you should have given way to the bus (bigger vehicle). To me, it was clear at 03:29 that the bus was committed and started to pull out. Instead of slowing down and stopping in the big enough gap at 03:30, you continued at the same speed and then got annoyed at your own action when you had to stop because the gap was too tight. Should the car behind you have been following (at minimum) the 2-second rule, if you have pulled into your left and indicated right, the car behind (if there was one - can't see in your video) they should have been able to stop as well if they were at a safe distance. I am sorry if my comment annoys anyone. My comment is completely unbiased. Although having done up to 15,000 by bus last year and seeing how many unsafe car, van, motorcycle etc driver there are on the roads I feel we all need to watch this video again and see the wider picture. Once you have driven or been in the driver seat of a 38ft double-decker bus, your view and perception of motoring changes. Thanks for reading :)
Well spoken, a thought of reason. An unbiased opinion and breakdown. And, unlike the video poster, aware of the many hurdles of driving a large vehicle, and more specifically a bus.
Stop on with your overlook my dude, people don’t understand what bus drivers go through day in day out…. They’re not easy to manoeuvre sometimes, trust me!! But yes if you see a bus driver “ talking to another” it is definitely about a diversion or obstruction, not what they’re having for tea or when are they on break
2:54 as bus driver, ive done this, few times ive warned other bus drivers on same route to be aware of accidents, hold ups and or broken traffic lights. 3:24 has nothing to do with bus drivers, councils are the ones that manage bus stops and where they are.
This is Rule 223. Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road. The word safely is key here, it doesn't mean they can drive on the wrong side of the road (my side) and quote rule 223. They still have to abide by the rules of the highway code rules like which side of the road we drive on and obstructions on the road (parked cars) on there side of the road especially as I'm already in the obstructed area.
A good rule of thumb for driving - just because you can, doesn't mean you should. You can't control the actions of others, but you can control your own.
@@thelondondashcam I do drive 9/10 hrs a day and find my coping mechanism is better than when I was just playing at driving. Zero stress, let everyone do their own thing and keep my wheels rolling.
Never said I was perfect, we all sometimes get in the wrong lane from time to time especially on roads we haven't driven on before, but my videos are of people that do it on purpose.
Come on now look at the clip again, I can see his mirrors so that means he can see me, it's really that simple. They just couldn't care less about the traffic.
The London Dash Cam actually everything bus drivers do is recorded cctv and audio Trust me bus driver feel drivers pressurising them It’s not an easy job trust me
The London Dash Cam I’m a bus driver in Birmingham and when I need to ask another driver of any diversions that have popped up, your a very angry driver and seem to have something against busses, the law states you should give way to larger vehicles when it’s safe to do so, the majority of these clips you should of gave way, your the bad driver not the bus drivers.
@@louieduffy2710 you didn't finish, when you see another driver about diversions, you what ? Hold up all other traffic being very selfish like the two drivers in the clip did, well done you. And yes it's obviously my fault if a bus drives in a bike lane or pulls across me turning right, or drives on the wrong side of the road when I'm already there. 🙈🙈. And the law states that we drive on the left which I was doing the buses wasn't.
@@louieduffy2710 OK I think you should watch the video again. 1st clip bus turned right right in front of me. Where does it say in the highway code that they have the right of way in that situation? 2nd clip the obstruction is on the buses side of the road and I was already there so my right of way. 3rd clip bus turning right from a left only lane self-explanatory really. 4th bus pulls out in front of an oncoming ambulance really!!!! 5th clip bus using a bike lane as if it was a bus lane. 6th clip where does it say that two vehicles can have a chat in the middle of the road holding up traffic? 7 clip wasn't directed at the driver but the suits who think it's a good idea to have a bus stop that prevents traffic flow. 8th clip a 50/50 situation where we both could have given way but I'll let you have that one, because I should have waited. 9th clip it's a roundabout give way to the right, even the bus driver is confused because he is indicating to me that it is a roundabout but still pulls out on me. So the wrongs are with you and the bus drivers exempt for 1 clip and that was a 50/50 because he had a big gap to wait in and he was driving on the wrong side of the road.
03:30 you had a gap to pull in to the bus driver has right of way and was already manoeuvring so you here are actually causing dangerous driving would love a copper to see this
The bus also had a gap to get into but didn't, but I didn't need to go on the wrong side of the road to get though the gap he did, so once again we drive on the left in this country, look at the white lines on the road he is over them I'm not. So what's the police going to do ? Nick me for driving on the correct side of the road 😂😂
What might look like a reasonable gap to a car may not be to a bus driver. Trust me, I've had my fair share of car drivers misunderstand how massive I am. I do wonder actually what might happen to the general standard of driving if it was mandatory to take a large vehicle licence?
@@jwblobman I understand what you're saying but I'm getting at the people who think just because they are bigger they can and do bully other drivers. And I used to drive a HGV for a living so I know what it's like, never driven a bus though.
@@thelondondashcam ah, fair enough on the HGV thing. Just a question though, we're they predominantly manual? When you consider the fact I have unsecured passengers and that the auto boxes on most buses really don't know how to cope with anything other than constant speed straight line, it's not as simple as "there's a space, dive in". Not having a go at all, just floating possibilities.
@@jwblobman Yes mainly manuals, I do get what you're saying, but that shouldn't have an effect on driving in a bike lane or pulling out on me at a roundabout and the driver telling me it's a roundabout I still don't get what he was thinking. It also looks very different on camera than what it was. I still think out of the clips in this video I was at fault for only one of them, but even then I was on my side of the road the bus wasn't but I should have waited.
Thire was a few videos I would say the bus was at fault but alot was the car drivers fault like when car turned left and bus already pulling out of bus stop and hes moaning thinking he has right away people need to read high way code always let bus out of bus stop when possible and if a vehicle is using the other sid of the road because of a parked car obstruction his lane if hes already on the other side of the road if the other road user coming the other way has seen the vehicle in plenty of time he sould stop not to carry on as the other vehicle will have the right of way they teach you this on basic driving lessons.
The first point the bus wasn't pulling out of a but stop it was turning right I was turning left so I have got the right of way, I can't see anything in the highway code that says otherwise, and I think you need to look at the clips again I was always in space first maybe apart from one where it was 50/50 so that means I have got the right of way especially as the parked cars wasn't on my side of the road.
The Highway Code doesn't say buses have right of way. It asks other drivers to ^allow^ them passage. The right of way remains with the other drivers because any vehicle pulling out does not have right of way.
@@thelondondashcam No I agree - the bus was in the wrong in this case but 'what difference did it make to you? You were stopped way behind by the red light - this again tells me 'you have a grievance with bus drivers and should close up before you get into deep water!"
@@thelondondashcam whybwas it your right of way. The lines in the centre of the road with cars parked on both sides, you could have pulled up to the left, the bus already had manoeuvred
Excellent. An omnibus edition! Road planners and route makers have love-hate relationships with buses. Often creating insurmountable problems on bus routes. The bus drivers would never get their job done without other drivers co-operation or a loose interpretation of the highway code. But would I rate their general level of professional proficiency as high? No. Bus companies do employ some very poor drivers.
Again Peter - we are looking for 'professional' drivers as London has a shortage of bus drivers... So come learn to drive a bus (if you can't already)... I can provide details of how to apply!
exactly, there are SO MANY places in Edinburgh where there are cars parked on the side (even worse after pavement parking ban) of the road, and you have to go to the opposite lane and just wish there isn't any car or another bus coming your way, because it's a bend that you can't see all the way through! Just a few on top of my head 34 Heriot Watt - Ocean Terminal, up the hill from Links Garden to Restalrig Road 25 Heriot Watt - Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny and also 36 Gyle Centre - Ocean Terminal, Morningside Drive turn to Morningside Grove 44 Balerno - Wallyford, the entire MacBeth Moir Rd Well, what can you say, DVLA rules are for reference, the city isn't built for that, IMPROVISE!
Clip 1: You saw the bus turning, should’ve started to slow down. Clip 2: Didn’t try to slow down or give priority. Clip 3: Although the bus was in the wrong lane, it did have indicators on. For this one although it isn’t really, I put some blame on the bus. Clip 4: I don’t even have to explain. What a knob the bus is. (EDIT:) After checking again it honestly seems the bus couldn’t see the ambulance, but not an excuse because it could hear it. Clip 5: The bus is in the wrong driving on the bike lane. Clip 6: Bus drivers wouldn’t normally chat. They were probably explaining something important such as delays, a crash or more. Clip 7: I don’t see how the bus driver here is bad? And there is bollards (I know someone else said this) To stop people being squished by cars when they exit the bus. Clip 8: Cammer you are utterly annoying. Space to pull and give the bus priority but you don’t choose to? Clip 9: I don’t know chief, looks like you started speeding up. SUMMARY: Cammer barely knows the Highway Code.
1 - 50/50 - both should be looking out for each other, the bus could have creeped and let him through or the cammer should have flashed the bus to give him the ok to pull forward which is what I would have done. people should be looking out for each other in scenarios like these. 2 - Cammer is right Bus took advantage of the road situation but ~ I don't blame him, and neither should the cammer in that situation, a thanks was in order here tbf from the bus driver though! 3 - The bus should have made it's way over to the correct lane - Two wrongs never make a right. so yes totally the bus drivers fault that one. 4 - The Bus driver needs glasses.... well out of order blocking the road with an Ambulance on the go - he was still clearly pulling out in full view of the Ambulance! 5 - We all agree on this one, Bus should not be blocking the bike lane. 6 - Very inconsiderate bus driver on the right hand side for not moving off as he should have done, but clearly having a chat - all important news comes over the two way radios or phones. 7 - No, he wasn't complaining about the Bus itself, rather the bus stop which is opposite the Bollards preventing any progression on private vehicles journeys. Bus driver did no wrong here, but nobody said he did. 8 - I totally agree - Cammer should have let the bus pull through with more space cammer at fault for this one, the Bus was at the pinch point first. Cammer looked to speed up. 9 - That Bus driver knew or thought the moped cleared him, but no way.... Bus at fault, the cammer did not speed up here, bus driver took advantage and shouldn't have done, the turn he made as well was on a blind corner, Bus driver clearly does not like using his brakes..... I've driven all sorts of vehicles including Busses, Trucks and Coaches, this does not make me better than other drivers nor are they better than me in turn. every situation is about evaluation and choices, the more you drive the better you can make more informed decisions and learn about how others drive. even if the driver of the other vehicle appears to be a right weapon - be the bigger person and the better driver.... just let them go on their way, then wave as you pass them as they have A, crashed, B, you've caught them back up at the next junction anyway, or C, they've been pulled over.... be like the Cadburys bunny when driving and all your frustrations with driving start to melt away...... Calm the eff down. Peace....
The 118 buses are my biggest enemies because every time I have to go to school they always take me so late that they go less than 20 mph and when there’s another bus coming, they decide to have a challenge for five minutes when this three more minutes left for me, for example, to go to school and not be late
ive been on a minor double decker bus accident in london, an E3 exit door hit a car and shattered, no one hurt and it happened just short of northfields station
On the other side if the coin, bus drivers face daily abuse and threats from unhinged passengers. There is far too much traffic on the road nowadays which doesn't help drivers.
I'm a London bus driver of 5 years now ... @ 1.01 the car is far enough behind for the bus driver to know its OKs to pull out so he does .. the car can seem this ... every day every street in London this happens every hour
It is a perfect place for a bus stop. The safest it could be for pedestrians, otherwise impatient drivers like you could spread them all over the road 🫠
I also notice that your speed in the 20mph zone with the school children is not shown! I suspect you were doing more than 20mph from the video footage and your braking distance as the bus approaches you.
Nope my speed was ok. As the bus approaches me ? You mean as the bus drives straight at me on my side of the road, or did you miss the lines in the road and the parked cars on the buses side.🤷🏻♂️
That's probably the drivers fault for doing it, but if the driver signalled then your dad probably should have waited, but it depends on wether the bus was signalling
What I see mainly is an impatient driver who doesn't like buses much. What happened to courtesy on the roads? What's the problem with flashing a bus through when the road is narrow? Everybody needs to be somewhere, including the bus passengers.
The "right of way" means you have priority but that doesn't mean you're excused for driving in a manner which is inconsiderate. 0:20 while the obstruction is on the buses side of the road, the bus has already reached the obstruction and already navigating past it, that doesn't mean you have right of way anymore! "The right of way" doesn't mean you should act entitled when you're sharing the road with everyone else.
If you pause it at 0:22 I've already entered the obstructed area he hasn't so I think I'm right in saying he should have waited in the big gap to his left especially as the park cars are on his side of the road and I was there first.
From another bus drivers perspective, I saw a mixed bag here. Some questionable decision making from the bus drivers in some… but others… I mean what are we supposed to do pal?! 😂 that bollard one especially 🤣 that tickled me pink! We drive over 40 hours a week on the road in busy places and come across a lot of situations, and not all of them are traffic related. As others have said, wer not going to be perfect 24/7, and most drivers including myself hate holding up traffic or causing hassle / stress to any drivers. We all know that cars and busses have a frosty relationship at the best of times. One of the hardest parts of our job is letting things go to be honest and staying calm. If I was allowed to compile a compilation on car drivers being complete helmets from the cameras on our busses, I could probs give you a video like yours that lasted an hour on only a weeks footage. Majority of the time (like a couple of your clips) is due to people not being patient.
I use buses and I can assure you I appreciate what a hard job it is never mind the driving the customers would do my head in, I have been on a bus many times when a passenger has spoken to the driver in such a way I wanted to throw them off the bus. I've said on here before about the bollard clip and I should have put some sort of text on the screen to stop the confusion, that it was only directed at the men/women in suits who make these stupid decisions not at all at the drivers.

@@thelondondashcam There's a few non events that if you had chilled and forward planned you could have safely given way. The first clip for example. Give priority if safe to do so (does not mean only when pulling out of bus stops). You were turning into the same junction, so would it have hurt to ease off and let the bus in without fuss 🧑🎓 The 2nd clip also and the vehicles ahead of you in clip 3 🙄 A bollard next to a bus stop is genuinely perfect on some stops as it gives the bus a chance to get going again without contending with those 'must get past the bus drivers' failing to give way when safe. I sense signs that you suffer with red mist on your video. There's certainly lots of learning points that can be taken from it, from lots of perspectives. Thanks for posting. Take care, drive safe.
There's a lot of them out there that are idiots; I had an accident on a double decker bus in north London once when a car pulled out in front of him and I slipped over and nearly banged my head on the seat when I landed on my back. I was OK at the end, I wasn't badly injured.
Oh dear at your comments . You need to read and understand the following then rewatch your video to see how wrong you are . "The bus is in the wrong lane turning right ", no its not , its in the correct lane for its size and positioned totally correctly for the turn its making . There is no my side / your side of the road , the line just shows where the middle is . Most road markings are for normal sized vehicles , that dont require professional driving license to operate . As for you have right of way due to the parked cars on the other side ....totally wrong again . Now the highesy code says on a few occasions , to give way to buses , it doesnt state only when pulling out from bus stops. But All the time when safe and practicable to do so . Buses are looking at the entire road and planning way ahead of what you could imagine , and stopping for you because the parked cars are on their dsde could mean the next three cars behind you follow you thru and block the road ... the bus coming thru could just have saved a lot of congestion that you never foresaw. As for mini roundabouts , look carefully next time you are at one and you will notice most times that one approach has give way lines ...... yet car drivers totally ignore these when at them they assume that they have right of way ! Remember bus drivers are trained professionals . Where as only you think you are a good driver . Sit a psv test and open your eyes up to a different driving level .then record footage and bitch at other road users, i bet your videos will be full of cars and vans . Not buses . No offence meant .

So the wrongs are with the bus drivers exempt for 1 clip and that was a 50/50 because he had a big gap to wait in and he was driving on the wrong side of the road. Driving large vehicles doesn't give you the right of way, and I do know how large vehicles operate having driven HGV for a few years, but it's not down to car drivers to know how they operate its down to them to know that, and drive accordingly and not use their size bullying other road users.
@@thelondondashcam i didnt say all of them, i said a fair few. Some the bus is at fault. But you already seem to have an agenda against large vehicles, you disregard the many people here telling you youre wrong. 🤦♂️🤷♂️

2:57 if thats me behind the bus on the other side, im flying through that gap and you could have done the same. Proves again that your just looking for faults. Bus drivers do this everyday everywhere, maybe for not so long but yh
This self-entitled driver would probably not pass a bus driver's test. How about giving some consideration to a vehicle serving the public, carrying up to 90 passengers? Read rule highway code rule 223 for a start about allowing buses to pull out. I didn't see one bus put you in danger, just caused you to slow down most the time. Agree, the two bus drivers chatting and blocking the road is annoying. A few problems were cause by bad road layout, refuge islands in front of bus stops. But even here, it maybe to protect passengers crossing the road, by halting cars.
The point of the bollards opposite the bus stop is so people can cross the road safely to the bus without being knocked over by a car.... Must say though as a bus driver myself for over 30 years some of the driving here was a lithle to be desired.. But I bet you are no angel on the road yourself...
Yes but putting a bollard in the middle of the bus stop will just mean if a bus is there they will walk in front of the bus to get on it, I know they shouldn't but they will. It's just another thing the bus driver has got to look out for, not forgetting the car drivers that go around the bollards too, again I know they shouldn't but they do. As for me 35 years driving or riding a motorcycle and never had a point on my license (Touchwood) I'm just no angel with my mouth.
@@thelondondashcam I would agree with the bollard problem, mist people just do what they want in front or behind the bus, us as drivers of both cars and buses have to think for others as well....I now drive buses in Austria, we have that system here with the bollards, bus stop priority scheme, and it works here, and the bus driver has to wait tfor the passengers to cross over if they cross in front of the bus... Getting back to the video.. Those 2 pillocks have a chat was annoying, yes it might have been important but that's why we have radios... A quick "Oi watch out blah blah blah see you later" would have been sufficient, good video though love the commentary 😂 I am just glad I was trained by London Transport with pride... Now its just steering wheel attendants doing a job.. Some do it well and some take the piss...
The best about this camera clown is that he's preaching about giving way and bashing bad driving when he's a bad driver himself. Incase most people forget....buses are bigger and longer, slower and take more room to make tight turns. Cars do not have any of these issues unless the driver is a complete clot, or a woman. 1:02 when the bus pulls out. It actually states in the UK road traffic act rule 223 as follows: Buses, coaches and trams. 1:10 nothing wrong there, he can't see past the bus and needed the swing to get out from behind it furthermore he didn't see the ambulance but he stopped when he did

With regards to the bus next to a traffic island "being a stupid place to put a bus stop",it was not worthy of being included in this video. If you encounter a bus stopped at a bus stop in such circumstances you can not legally pass it so therfore you wait until the bus leaves the stop in front of you. The stop far from "being in a stupid place " is there to prevent accidents. It will have been considered dangerous by the planners to place a bus stop in a position that other traffic can pass a stationary bus on such a narrow road.As frustrating as it may seem to be stuck behind the bus it is far safer in this instance to wait, and be forced to wait, than to be encouraged to pass it.
Maybe watch it again and try to take it in this time, everything you said I should do I did or did you miss that, the bus stop is in a stupid place because people will still try and cross the road using the island to get on the bus, I've seen them doing it.
@@thelondondashcam You are making up Hazzards as you go along , You can say "what if this happens " to just about any situation. In most cases I would suggest the intending passengers are already at the bus stop and people that do cross the road in a dangerous manner in order to catch a bus don't need a traffic island as an excuse
@@thelondondashcam I disagree. Only in your opinion is it inthe wrong place and I would suggest that holding the traffic is the aim of the planners and if people attempt to cross a road dangerously they don't need a traffic island as an excuse.
In some situations, the bus drivers are clearly wrong. However, it seems like the vehicle in the video is also wrong in some cases, e.g. 3:29. The bus is clearly already coming so why do you keep going forward? The driver in this video also does not drive safely and cautiously, and does not give way to the bus in safe and reasonable cases, which is breaking the law. Buses carry more people.
The clip at 1 min with the ambulance 🚑 I would say you needed to move over the bus left plenty of space, the car in front of the ambulance stopped at a silly place and you just plonked your self in the way and started moaning.
And yet I was out less than the bus the bus that didn't have to pull out, If you look again you will see that the ambulance didn't have to slow down for me he had to slow down because of the bus once he got to me he was accelerating.
@@thelondondashcam the ambulance didn't have to slow for the bus at all it was for the car in front of it. It just seems you are targeting busses and they didn't do anything. A few of the clips on here are like that.
@@thelondondashcam just re watched it a few times, agin bus did nothing wrong the ambulance had to avoid the car in front of it and you slightly. Maybe if you spent less time wetting yourself and calling busses names you could concentrate on just safely driving instead of constantly trying to get ahead of busses.
@29s bus was already committed, you saw it yet proceeded to drive straight at it and then moaned that you had right of way. You do realise that if buses stopped and waited until there was no traffic coming in the distance (especially in rush hour or school times) they would never get anywhere?? At some point they need to commit, any driver knows that. I believe you have a hidden hatred for them... but remember one very important thing, at some point in your life, maybe when you're older, you may be unable to drive, for whatever reason (medical or otherwise) and will rely on public service transport. Life is too short, in with anger out with love, you have issues and it's very clear the disdain you have for bus drivers in general!! #calmdown
The bus was committed to what ? He had no right to be committed as I was in the obstructed area already and he wasn't, so guess what I've got the right of way. I don't hate buses if you look at some of my videos sometimes I categorise them. I don't like bad driving or bullies like the bus driver you have pointed out, he had a big gap to the left he could have gone in but pushed his way into the gap driving on the wrong side of the road that I was already in, but apparently I'm at fault.
Buses have the right of way since they are public transport vehicles. Much like passenger trains have priority over freight trains. Its the same thing with buses and cars. And once the bus indicator light lit up 3 times. They are legally allowed to pull out even if there was cars coming. Which means if a car crashed into a bus after that. It would be the car driver fault. Not the bus driver. So the bus drivers in this vid are mostly not in the wrong
In all of these clips, how much time would you have saved if the so-called problem vehicles weren't there? Not much. You'd likely be waiting at the next set of traffic lights for longer. Instead of criticising other drivers simply because "you've got right of way", why don't you slow down and let them through? It's not going to make your journey much longer. It seems here that you're either in such a hurry to get somewhere, or you only got a dashcam to criticise anything slightly inconvenient to post on your UA-cam channel.
Why not abaddon all the rules to accommodate bad drivers? In fact why not get rid of the highway code completely just so the bad drivers can do what they want and face no consequences after 🙄
Like Norton I couldn't agree more. Dash twat should be far more patient and drive defensively rather than aggressively as he does. He still has a responsibility to avoid accidents even if he believes he is in the right and in quite a few instances where he believes he is in the right, he isn't.
@@simonwinter8839 Because of your comments obviously, you seem to have a lack of understanding the rules about obstruction on the road ie parked cars on one side of the road and who has the right of way when this happens.
Your comment about overtaking with bollards - you're obviously not looking at the right hand turn approaching lane just after bollards! The Bollards are stopping you from having an accident with oncoming traffic! I suggest you start 'looking' at the road you are driving on instead of assuming you are the worlds best driver because from your voice - I'd say you were quite young compared to me... and I've been driving professionally for over 30 years!
Well that would make it an even worse place to put a bus stop wouldn’t it ? Now here the thing about this. 1. does nothing for the flow of traffic 2. It’s dangerous because pedestrians will walk to The bollard and then walk in front of the bus from the bollard, pedestrians very rarely go behind the bus if they are trying to catch that bus 3. The bus is stopping anyone wanting to use the bollard to just cross the road from left to right and therefore they would cross in front of the bus or behind it making it a dangerous cross. So I suggest you take off your bus cap and put on a common sense cap for this situation. Although I do appreciate that driving a bus is a difficult job they shouldn’t use a bus to bully other drivers after all they are supposed to be professional drivers.
Less than half the clips are actual bad driving. Like the bus at the bus stop , with an island beside it, Its not the drivers fault . Like the two people chatting in the road when the nus is moving past etc Sad as there are some bad drivers but these were not
The island obviously isn't the drivers fault, it's the fault of the suits that make the decisions to do that, I'm not going to do a video on bad island's 😂, two people chatting blocking the road is very inconsiderate to other road users so for me that's bad driving.
A bus full of people is removing about 40 people off of the road. That's 40 cars that you don't have to sit behind, because of that one bus. Don't get me wrong, my observation highlights clips that show idiots behind the wheel. Especially the two drivers chatting with a long line of cars behind them. But even if you don't use it, and I don't myself, public transport deserves more respect from drivers. Don't try and race infront of them at a row of parked cars, don't get annoyed you can't overtake them because of a set of bollards. Buses have a FAR better reason to have priority than you do. And in the last clip, that's a shared space and not a roundabout. You approached WAY too fast. The idea is to slow drivers down and make them pay attention more, YOU did the opposite.
I appreciate some of your comments and understand your point of view but the last clip is a roundabout the white circle gives it away a little bit and there are roundabout signs (not on camera), plus the bus driver himself is making a roundabout signal to me which I really couldn't understand because I had priority coming from the right. The other clip I feel I need to comment on is the bus stop next to the bollards obviously I'm not blaming the bus driver for that but the idiots in suits that stop the flow of traffic with stupid decisions like this one.
@@thelondondashcam See my other comments - 'Look at the road - lift your vision!'. A double deck bus weighs almost 11 tons! That's like 11 elephants travelling down the road on roller skates! That's dangerous! Where the bollards were concerned the 'idiot's in suits' were stopping you from having a potentially 'fatal' accident! How would your family feel if you died as a result of being allowed to make a stupid decision while driving that could have been prevented by a simple traffic island?

Can verify this as a bus driver in Southport. Its only to be used only if absolutely necessary. One of my routes goes along a fairly narrow road with bicycle lanes either side. It's usually a very quiet road so I can drive it more towards the middle of the road but I'll move into the bicycle lane if there's oncoming traffic.
As a PCV instructor... in this case I do not believe the use of the bike lane was 'necessary'!!!
@@thelondondashcam Actually to clarify this according to the DVLA "A bicycle lane with a dotted line may be used 'IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY' by any vehicle. At all other times it is supposed to be kept clear" Progress required by a timetable that the bus has to run to is NOT classed as 'absolutely necessary'!
we can guess what his hobby is.
Clip1 - Bus at fault
Clip 2 00:20 Driver was indicating and had a car close behind in a potential blind spot. While he could have attempted to stop, the bus had a right of way.
Clip 3 00:48 There is no context to the clip, whereby it shows the previous few seconds. There could have been a bus stop and no one would allow the bus to enter the right-hand lane. While he is still in the wrong for turning right (which looking at the traffic light suggests buses are permitted to do a right turn - I will happily be corrected on this)
Clip 4 01:00 The bus turning had another bus in front partially obscuring its view.
Clip 5 01:14 Bus at fault
Clip 6 02:15 The driver indicated right (your left) and once safe pulled away slowly.
You answered your own comment although you make it look like the bus driver was at fault be adding it to your video titled "Bad UK Drivers Vol 22 (London Buses)
".

Think someone is forgetting Rule 223 of the Highway Code, you must give way to buses, coaches and emergency vehicles
That is very true, but when you drive for 10 hours a day it becomes harder and harder to make allowances for these idiot.

4th bus pulls out in front of an oncoming ambulance really!!!!
5th clip bus using a bike lane as if it was a bus lane.
6th clip where does it say that two vehicles can have a chat in the middle of the road holding up traffic?

I still think out of the clips in this video I was at fault for only one of them, but even then I was on my side of the road the bus wasn't but I should have waited.
Sadly most of those shown here prove to be your own fault rather than bad driving on the part of the bus driver.

Just a few on top of my head

25 Heriot Watt - Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny and also
36 Gyle Centre - Ocean Terminal, Morningside Drive turn to Morningside Grove

He's a typical taxi driver, quick to find fault with others while simultaneously making just as much if not more faults himself.
On the other side if the coin, bus drivers face daily abuse and threats from unhinged passengers. There is far too much traffic on the road nowadays which doesn't help drivers.

Don't patronise me. Buses may one day be the only vehicles on the road and where will your precious cars be then?

You were doing so well until you made a sexist remark.
1:02 when the bus pulls out. It actually states in the UK road traffic act rule 223 as follows: Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road. - Therefore as you had plenty of time to stop for the bus to pull out, He has done nothing wrong.
It's not me he is pulling out on that I'm moaning about he's pulled out in front of an oncoming ambulance making the ambulances gap smaller than what it had to be.
Whats the problem at 1:12?
Mate don’t be mad but I’m becoming a bus driver 😅
They're not all bad 😂
0:47 If people actually gave way to the bus like they are supposed to it wouldn't have been an issue
1:10 nothing wrong there, he can't see past the bus and needed the swing to get out from behind it furthermore he didn't see the ambulance but he stopped when he did
The second clip you sped up he was already coming through
I had just gone over a speed bump so yes I was speeding up, but we do drive on the left in this country so I had right of way, especially as there was a great big gap for him to wait in.
I do agree the 151 on the roundabout was totally in the wrong as your indicator was clearly 'on'
He was actually telling me it was a roundabout which was the scary thing he doesn’t know who has priority at roundabouts 🤷🏻♂️ professional driver😂

And I 100% agree that people from the UK don’t want them jobs, I don’t because of the scummy passengers that are mostly from the UK, I’ve seen it with my own eyes when I’ve been a passenger.
Right of way to I’ll go in the way of the larger vehicle if it’s down to safety but they should’ve been paying more attention yes

Buses also have to follow the highway code did you not know that?
@@thelondondashcam Yes and I do cause I drive them every bloody day. I know how the roads work and I do exactly what I was taught. @@thelondondashcam So, having more years than me doesn't make you better so drop that illusion. @@mahammad XD they are lol
@@mahammad And of course you have the statistics available which shows this happens eight out of ten times.
What you don't?
So it's just your opinion which has no factual basis then.
@@thelondondashcam
You are making up Hazzards as you go along ,
You can say "what if this happens " to just about any situation. In most cases I would suggest the intending passengers are already at the bus stop and people that do cross the road in a dangerous manner in order to catch a bus don't need a traffic island as an excuse
@@simonwinter8839 but they still use it nun the less, so it's in a dangerous place.
@@thelondondashcam I disagree. Only in your opinion is it inthe wrong place and I would suggest that holding the traffic is the aim of the planners and if people attempt to cross a road dangerously they don't need a traffic island as an excuse.
1:28 oh and the 220 i might add 😌
i realised this was putney bridge asoon as i saw it lol
4:00 bus driver was in the wrong there, you happy? 🤣
@@danielbungay8924 if you can't see the bus driver made that gap really small for no reason then I can't help you maybe Specsavers can.
@@thelondondashcam just re watched it a few times, agin bus did nothing wrong the ambulance had to avoid the car in front of it and you slightly. Maybe if you spent less time wetting yourself and calling busses names you could concentrate on just safely driving instead of constantly trying to get ahead of busses.
idk why i watching that
@29s bus was already committed, you saw it yet proceeded to drive straight at it and then moaned that you had right of way.
Buses, do not have priority when coming towards you on the wrong side of the road when you’re in the pinch point first.
In fact why not get rid of the highway code completely just so the bad drivers can do what they want and face no consequences after 🙄
Like Norton
I couldn't agree more. Dash twat should be far more patient and drive defensively rather than aggressively as he does.
He still has a responsibility to avoid accidents even if he believes he is in the right and in quite a few instances where he believes he is in the right, he isn't.
@@simonwinter8839 Dash Twat!!! Thanks. Instead of name calling spend a little time reading the highway code you might learn something.
@@thelondondashcam
What makes you think I haven't read the Highway code?
Some of your driving is at least questionable.
@@simonwinter8839 Because of your comments obviously, you seem to have a lack of understanding the rules about obstruction on the road ie parked cars on one side of the road and who has the right of way when this happens.
Oh joy watching the idiot drivers hahahah almost comical
3:55 I hate this song 😢😢😢
buses are allowed to stop at a bus stop in bollards
Yes of course they are, it’s about the positioning of the bus stop or bollards that makes no sense, why make traffic 💁
@@thelondondashcam The positioning of the bus stop is deliberate. It's to give buses a chance to pull out without dickheads trying to overtake them.
3:31 you should have stopped and you know it.
This is surly satire 😂 what a wolly
3:18, no need to blame the bus drivers for just doing their own job
I don't think this guy likes buses
Your comment about overtaking with bollards - you're obviously not looking at the right hand turn approaching lane just after bollards! The Bollards are stopping you from having an accident with oncoming traffic!
I suggest you start 'looking' at the road you are driving on instead of assuming you are the worlds best driver because from your voice - I'd say you were quite young compared to me... and I've been driving professionally for over 30 years!
Well that would make it an even worse place to put a bus stop wouldn’t it ?
Now here the thing about this.
1. does nothing for the flow of traffic
2. It’s dangerous because pedestrians will walk to The bollard and then walk in front of the bus from the bollard, pedestrians very rarely go behind the bus if they are trying to catch that bus
I like buses and bus drivers but not these ones
they don't have priority all the time.
@@thelondondashcam Sorry but as an Advanced Driving Instructor - I feel - you have some serious issues about driving which you need to just take a chill pill over or you are a casket waiting to happen!

so technically buses have the right of way
