    Some things I've learned. 1) the guard rails/tire walls can really take a hit and still stay standing. 2) the blue flags being waved seem to crash cars. 3) the safety car needs to deploy faster on those wrecks. Maybe installing traffic lights every so often instead of flag wavers would be better.

    • @SonicProvocateur
      @SonicProvocateur Рік тому +10

      Blue flag is to motion for slow drivers (usually the lower class like GT4/Cup) to yield the race line to faster traffic (usually GT3 or someone lapping them). In this video I noticed not only were GT3 drivers performing extremely poor overtakes on GT4 drivers, causing crashes, but also flag marshalls were also green flagging (race go - overtake okay) during some of these crashes! That's a serious safety issue!! Thankfully even when there was a bad green flag, it looked like the drivers were at least smart enough not to perform overtakes in the middle of a crash area and slow down.

      @@SonicProvocateur It's just the angle of the video making it look like green flags being waved in the middle of a crash zone. They yellow flag the sector immediately preceding the crash, and green flag the sector immediately following it. Since the camera is looking across the crash zone towards the green flagger, it foreshortens the scene and makes it look like they are about even on track. But they're not, and the Nürburgring marshals are world class when it comes to race safety.

      I doubt the people who leave these kind of comments have never done any sort of motorsport ever. The Porsche was swerving around unpredictably, the merc was mid way through a corner so it would of struggles to slow down especially since it's downhill and so it's best shot was to step of the throttle, very light braking and go in the middle of the track until there was a space tho that space came a little too late.
