@@mdrmrgrl9622 That’s great Mdrmrgrl! DW made some great drums in the 90’s as well! Ludwig is also amazing 🙌 Almost everyone makes great stuff these days! What is your set up like? Drum sizes, color, Cymbals, etc??
@ black wrap. 1994. 9x10, 10x12, 12x14, 14x16, 18x22 and I also have a 14X18 from 95 with unfinished wood rims. I got a round badge kit from my teacher for nothing right after I got the small bass drum, so it’s been in a case at my parents house virtually unplayed for 30 years or whatever. The bigger sizes also haven’t been played in years unfortunately. I’m in NYC and years ago I started making ten times djing what I could playing jazz, and I hated touring in pop bands or whatever, so it’s tough to put energy into music when I’m doing 4 gigs a week djing. I own a rehearsal space now so I have been practicing again, (noise is a big issue for Manhattan drummers), and hopefully will start playing out soon, even if I’m losing money. They sound like the other Keller drumkits I’ve heard on here. Great round tone but a ton of punch.
You’re totally right MorbidMan! Better is a relative term..we both agree on that. “Better” here was only meant as a question to get a conversation going 🙌 Thanks for the comment brotha!
@@kmh993 Hey! That’s a great question. Funny enough, Mika and I talked about that exact thing. We both love the Ludwig Legacy Mahogany’s and wondered if that was John Good’s idea for the Contemporary Classics all along. I mean, DW already had the Classic series that was inspired by old Slingerland Radio King drums. We actually don’t know what the CC shell recipe is inspired by for sure. It’s crazy how we’re all asking this question haha! Maybe I should interview John and see if he’d give us some insight. Heck, I’d like to know myself! Btw, what are you playing? Thanks again for checking out the vid and the channel. More interviews otw!
@therealjonsmith1 hey guys, thanks for the cool video…with @duality-pop I play the DWe, but for other projects I will play DW Jazz, DW Maple, DW Maple/Gum or DW Spruce
@@therealjonsmith1 Hi, this vid popped up on my feed. Great talk! I have a DW Performance Series kit, which I love. What would you suggest for a more vintage sound? Maybe some coated Emperors on the toms? Is it hard to get a vintage sound with 45 bearing edges?
@@masinaverde901 Thanks for watching Masina! There are more vids otw. DW Performance Kits are cool..I believe Mika had a satin black Performance kit out with Filter. As far as how to make your kit sound a bit more vintage, yeah..I'd def recommend Remo Coated Emperors [no Remo affiliation presently], or similar. Rounded bearing edges are def going to get you even closer. You can also use some kind of gels or dampeners to muffle down the decay. Should help for sure! Would you be interested in seeing and hearing Mika and I play this kit and give recording examples, as well as drum head combos, etc? Thanks again for watching!
Hey BigKickLeo! We plan to follow up this intro video about the DW Contemporary Classic Drums soon. There will be a way more up close look and listen to the kit. Thanks for being here. Btw, what drums are you playing these days?
Don’t skip it Krusher! We’re already working on a more up close look and listen to these drums. Thanks for letting me know what you’d like to see more of. It’s otw 👍🤓

Great video. Love it! ❤
Thank you! What a great time having Mika here. More otw. ❤
Love this 👍🤓 We saw Mika Fineo play with Filter. Can’t wait to see the follow up vids with drum micing and tuning!!!
Yeah, he's awesome! More videos are coming, but hopefully you can check out some older videos for some more micing/tuning tips for now!
90’s dw here, I’d always put Ludwig and I switched to this kit and that downing kit ever! Favorite all-time kit!!!🥁❤️

Thanks ieva!! We’re on that. Hit the bell to get notified when the vids get uploaded. Thanks again!
From the reliability standpoint alone, I would be sold right away
Totally agree Mario!! We’ve all played less than reliable gear.
I have 90’s dw with the Keller shells. They are great.
Yeah that was a good run of DW’s drums! What color or wrap did ya go with btw? Sizes?
You playing any gigs or sessions with them?

so the Contemporary Classic line sounds similar to a Ludwig legacy mahogany? or Rogers? or which classic does it reference?

Really surprised at how little video or B Roll footage there is of this kit. Also, only audio at the intro? - I'll have to look it up elsewhere 🤷♂️
