After a very cold and windy spring, I finally got the first calm day. a very mysteries morning i totally silence, light snow calmly falling, the peace was only interrupted by heavily feeding trout for the first time this season. I was there!

Superfat fish, even at the tail-end of winter. What were they feeding on? Stone flies or midges?

TheOrmsson Thanks for the reply, Ormsson. I was indeed curious about how the fish were in such great condition (and assumed it was probably due to a surfeit of freshwater crustaceans) but my question was more specifically concerned with what kind of insect the fish were rising to so in such cold conditions.
