Welcome back to the channel! In this video, I'm sharing a simple but effective practice to help you increase your self-energy-a core concept in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. If you're new here or not familiar with self-energy, think of it as mindfulness, presence, or simply being calm, curious, and compassionate.
This practice is perfect for both beginners and seasoned IFS practitioners. It's something I personally use every day, and I find it especially powerful to do in the morning before the busyness of the day begins. But don’t worry, you can use it anytime!
Here’s a quick overview of the practice:
    1) When you wake up, take 5-10 minutes to close your eyes, place a hand on your chest and belly, and breathe deeply.
    2) Focus on your body with gentle, loving awareness. Notice any sensations that arise, whether pleasant or uncomfortable, and simply accept them.
Allow your energy to flow naturally, giving space for self-energy to bloom and take the lead for the day.
    3) This technique not only helps you ground yourself in the present but also gives parts of you a chance to relax and see your self-leadership come online. If you try it out, let me know how it goes by sharing in the comments-it could be helpful for others too!
Thank you for being here, and I’ll see you in the next video!

Conor, I had the most unfortunate experience with IFS. I bought the book by Jay Early read quite a bit then booked a session with someone Who supposedly had the first there levels but the first session ( only half an hour) frightened a part of me so much that I didn't/ Couldn't do anymore which after a while and many acupuncture sessions later Drive my OCD through the roof. Back on meds and slowly recovering but sometimes licking myself for my foolishness. What I think went wrong is that the therapist didn't ask for permission ....from the protector and dove in. Maybe it's a lesson to let sleeping dogs lie.. I was watching your videos and loving It all but c',est la vie.

Gonna try it for sure. I found that once I experienced self energy and knew how it felt and whereabouts in my body then I could find it so much more readily, it becomes easier with experience. I remember I had a self like part that I thought was self for a week before I experienced self and it was only after I realised that it lacked connectedness and curiosity that it wasn't self. I find it fascinating stuff to think about

I love this. I have been doing IFS off and on with my therapist for a couple years, but when I'm not at an appointment and life gets wonky and I'm busy it's really hard to remember the tools of IFS. This is a nice practical simple step, thank you for sharing 😊

I love this thank you Conor ❤️ It's amazing how much difference just a few minutes can make. I wake up anxious alot and I feel alot calmer now. It reminds me of somatic tracking too, which I find really helpful xx
