His vocal style and range is super unique for this genre especially, stupid humble and beyond interactive with the audience, pays tons of homage to the bands that influenced him the most. 🔥
To all the people getting mad at AFI, in late 1998- early 1999 Roadrunner records (I think that's it) approached Davey and asked if he would be the new singer of The Misfit, And he was so humble, that he declined. So thanks to Davey Havok, the misfits still kinda exist. Yeah, take that.

It was a true observation that relates to your statement, that's hardly nitpicking. And by the way, I'm American. I just happen to know Europe has a thriving punk scene because I can actually buy music from other countries, if you can believe that. Stop playing the victim, there's no reason for it.
Yeah, they used to be a hardcore band. Alot of people don't realize that, but they used to be the best band to mosh to with songs like the lost souls or catch a hot one.
I like AFI and they put on a hell of a show. If you can see my avatar then you know how much I appreciate them paying respect to Misfits. This is awesome.
In the 70's THE RAMONES bring the genre actually known as -punk rock- to the scene and popularized it. And they also had a heavy pop influence just like Blondie, the gorgeous Siouxsie Sioux and even Nina Hagen had a strong pop culture influence. Also, about the misfits. It's well known Glenn Danzig was a Marilyn Monroe fan. And Marilyn Monroe is considered as a very much important icon of pop culture.
Most Americans aren't aware that punk is still very much alive in Europe but that's America for you: "If it sucks here, it sucks everywhere!" Of course, that's not how it works because reality encompasses the whole PLANET, not just North America.
They used to be so much more... punk. Nowadays the only stuff involving Davey Havok I REALLY like is his guest spots on Tiger Army songs, haha. Still, this is great :)

YOu know, I've been a fan of AFI since "Black Sails" and I still think they're great. They have definitely changed, I'm not arguing with anyone on that point, but I think that the change was a natural progression, as Davey became a better vocalist and the band became better musicians. They couldn't keep doing the same thing forever. Still, I get why a lot of fans of the "old" AFI don't like the "new" AFI. That's okay, sometimes it's hard to see a band you like change.
