Back in 2017 I had the pleasure of seeing GCJ in GrandRapids. That day my mother was diagnosed with leukemia. She made me still go to the show. I had made a comment about my situation and expressed catfish blues was always a favorite song of my mother. Gary came out on stage said a few words directed to me about my mom and opened his show with a like 10 minute rendition of catfish blues. I was brought to tears.
My heart goes out to you Mom & Family. Many Blessings 🙏 What GCJ did for you was a Healing with his Amazing Talent! Tears always lets pain out of your very Soul. Sending my energy out to you, for more Healing with The Blues. GKJ is Beautiful
I was at this gig. He was one of many support acts supporting The Rolling Stones. If I remember he was the first act of the day, it was fucking hot and most people only really cared about the Stones, for me however, this was the stand-out performance of the day.
Keepin them alive and giving them a good good boost. it will be huge again. after all modern western (western part of the EARTH) is born and bred from the blues. Period. without blues there be no Rock and roll.with out blues there be no ,hold up,no hip hop.....dont forget the "b" in rnb....its blues.... yessir E BOB. BLUES IS THE SHEE OTT.
Oh my God, Gary Clark Jr.oh you are some bad. I'm a 64 years young fannnnnn!!! You are amazing . I know great music when I hear it and your vocals are simply beautiful.Keep playing and stay healthy!!!!!!
It has been a perfect playing for me having a lovely and awesome Fan like you, thanks for your love, I have you mostly to be thankful for 🎼🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🌹🌹🌹
@@garyclarkjr.9018 I know your mom is so proud and I'm so proud as if you are my son too. Seeing you in Mississippi, still doesn't seem real...Peace, Blessings and Blues.❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
garyclarkjr. Haha I collected another year on you. I'm still checking in for my late night bedtime song. Love you keep playing and singing your heart and I'm going to be watching. Love,Blessings and Blues
I'm apologize but I've never heard of this gentleman and I absolutely love the blues, and the electric guitar. Definitely Jimi Hendrix would be as impressed as I am. I will be watching him from now on. Just amazing
Wow! Gary Clark plays with incredible intensity, and with bends "out of this world". Reminds me a little of Jimi, but Gary Clark sure has his own voice.
Notice how the video starts out with Clark and the bass player and drummer (the rhythm guitarist shows up much later in this video). A lot like Hendrix's band with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. All in all a great performance!
I first saw him during Clapton's Crossroads guitar fest, I stopped in my tracks and said "wow. Who is this guy?" He was the best part of the fest. A genuine blues man.
Exactly my reaction when hearing him from my living room. if it was the 2010 or any of the crossroads festivals that he's been a part of you are a lucky person
Just can’t get enough of this track, blows my mind, drummer be bossing life too ...................if I had a movie, I would enter the opening scene to this 🎸
Hell yeah that drummer was like Mitchell's little brother. Lol. This performance and the one at The Surf Lodge Hen My Train Pulls In transports me back in time. man...
I heard this random on Pandora.Man I had to see it too here.I'm completely blown away. This guy pulls a sound out of his guitar like no other! Love it!!
Just saw the Rolling Stones "IN" London. but Gary Clark Jr. is the best I've ever seen live. This man right here puts on the best show. Sounds identical to the master live every time. And his solos will blow your mind!!
Goosebumps DAMN!!! How did I not discover this badass until today???? Thank the Gods for my local college radio station ( KUPS 90.1fm THE SOUND. Tacoma,WA. )
Joseph Walton my guess, they’re all Dan Auerbach or Black Keys ONLY fans. I’ll bet on it. The voices sound alike. They obviously have similar influences. Just my 2 cents
I found Gary on a Black Keys radio station on Pandora back when The Black Keys came out with The “Brothers” album. I immediately loved Gary Clark Jr. over the Black Keys. Guy is the real thing
It has been a perfect playing for me having a lovely and awesome Fan like you, thanks for your love, I have you mostly to be thankful for 🎼🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🌹🌹🌹
See, I don't really see Hendrix in him. He doesn't seem to be going for that funk and vodoo mystique, nor the primacy of the guitar solo and shredding. I'm not sure who to compare him to though. He has a lot of fusion in his work.
Exceptional #GaryClarkJr. Your skill with that guitar is almost indescribable. How does great sound? Yeah, that sounds right. GREAT!!! 😄👍🎺🥁🎹🪘🎸💛💚💝💖💙💜❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have no reason to explain why I have tears running down my cheeks... Maybe it's I love seeing or listen to people talk or perform their passion. Just makes me happy I guess idk either way I'm digging it 😂
Jesus, i took a heavy dose of 1P-LSD and by chance came to see this and boy i couldn't stop playing it! Holy shit brothers that guy is THE SHIT! Love it!!!
It really is true you are never too old to learn new things. how have I never heard of this man, the only reason I clicked on it was because I've been seeing lots of his videos and catfish Blues the name piqued my interest
Mi gran reconocimiento p este gran guitarrista,es lo mejor q le pudo haber pasado al mundo del rock y del blues tengo 60 y me hizo recordar a Jimmy H pero recargado, enhorabuena a los q lo han escuchado, viva el blues!
It's really great that this guy is doing with the Hendrix legacy the precise opposite of what Monte Monthomery is doing. Monte takes it into a technical stratosphere where nobody can follow him. Gary takes it all back to,the Delta roots by capturing the raw emotion. Real blues has humor, dignity, stoicism and anger, all balancing each other out. And this guy has it ALL! Albert Collins would have loved this.
I stumbled across Gary Clark Jr last night - half asleep with a YT playlist. Love what he's doing live or studio, and this performance is awesome by any standard! I can't, for the life of me, comprehend 34 negatives. 34 peeps with no taste!
like mcfly in back to the future, "I guess you youngsters are`nt used to this but your parents would have loved it" hahah epic old school music in a modern era

That is so beautiful 😍 😢😊and that's love for those that love him and his 🎶 music.
i seen this cat open for eric johnson on his 18th birthday at STUBBS
I hope your Mother is still with us and that was really nice of Gary .

He ain't no joke. laying down some heavy sounds with such a cool style. Stones aight, but this guy got it
Where was this??
Bless the Stones' little hearts, I'da walked out after Gary, like, why bother?
Pollack87 Hyde Park?
I bet that was a Bad Ass show! Guaranteed they knew who Gary was after that lashing !
This guy is the best thing to happen to the world of music for a long time.
Definitely
So you've listened to every new band or new song releases since 2014?
This guy is killing me. Never heard him. Totally Awsome😼
@@lisafoskey8804 Have you listened to him playing Pearl Cadillac, amazing track.
@@phildale8451 No I have not. But I will😉
Gary keeping the mother fuckin blues ALIVE. Rock on 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Him and Joe Bonamassa, present generation of finest Blues!!! I suspect Muddy Waters is smiling that the genre is still alive and well represented!
Jimi Hendrix Version is awesome too
I really like that dirty muffled sound he has, awesome player.
I'm a firm believer in that people who find that sound are really looking for it and deserve the honor-title of musician
I wasn't too crazy about this guy before today, but I've had this on repeat all afternoon. This guy is a blues wizard, no doubt.
I wish I could like this twice.
I'm apologize but I've never heard of this gentleman and I absolutely love the blues, and the electric guitar. Definitely Jimi Hendrix would be as impressed as I am. I will be watching him from now on. Just amazing
Damn, bro!
Best Catfish Blues I’ve ever heard!
Muddy would be proud...
Lighting Hopkins ?????????????????? I just can't tell!
I bet Jimi, Muddy & all the rest are jamming in heaven to you, Gary. Keep it up, bro!!

Gary Clark Jr. is truly excellent. Exactly what we need in this musical wasteland.
In the great and grand tradition of blues legends, I believe Mr. Clark Jr. will be listened to for many eons to come!
Simply excellent!!!
I absolutely agree!
Confirmo este comentario en pleno 2023!

Clapton said Gary Clark Jr makes him want to play the guitar again.
it feels like nobody dared to play like this since so long !!! it feels really good !
Continuity is the key, it has to be played with feelings,
The Gary Clark Jr. Experience ! Thanks God !

My goodness. His music just keeps growing on me. What a talent. He can play the hell out of that guitar.
Mark Dacre I know what you mean
Ditto me
Dude could be big on that voice alone. Mix the murder he commits on that axe and it's above the call of duty.

Tormented soul

I'd just like to give kudos to the rest of the band just serving the song. It takes true musicians to get over their egos and help create actual music

Still won't change the fact that This Man Plays the Blues better than the Devil in a Wet Dream!
Hypnotic ... Jimmy spirit is floating there... such an amazing guitar sounds... a marvellous discovery ...
Hot damn, why did I not look into this guy sooner. Powerful stuff.
Gary Clark has officially gone from "really good" to..."great." A very deep performance.
..."I went up a different person came down somebody else..." Actually it's not him at all... lol
This was in support of the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park in 2013. I was there. Fantastic gig. Extremely hot day.

Jonathan Holleb yep
Haven’t heard anything that made my jaw drop for a long time. GCjr did.
Cool Bob Dylan on drums and Joe Bonamassa on bass and Will Smith guitar and vocals!!
To be honest i think Gary Clark Jr. looks more like Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out and Black Panther)
And AL Capone on rhythm guitar.
Hey man ,Lenny Kravitz on drums😂🤣🥰🥰❤️
Isn't Jeff Lynne from E.L.O. on drums?
Definitely Lou Reed on drums.....
These Good old boys, down in North Carolina, love you Gary Clark
I'm happy someone's trying to keep blues live ❤️
I know a gorgeous woman who will never be able to hear this song and not think of me. Can't wait for GCjr to hit Ohio this summer
👍👍👌👌
This guy is just freakin' awesome - I only recently heard of him and I am in awe! Got to see him live!
This man is a beast on the guitar. Love it when he makes it scream and sing and talk

Yeah! Play those blues Gary!
What a beautiful guitar that is.
epiphone casino :)
It's no upside down Strat but seems to work for our man Gary here ;)
Dude bends three half steps like it's no man's business. Fucking sick. So much old blues influence and sensibility in this artist.
I came across Mr Clark's music from a you tube mix. Thankyou you tube. And most of all Thankyou Mr Clark. Love me some catfish blues.
Great job covering Muddy Water's original. It's one of those songs whose cover is better than the original.
This song is as old as the blues itself.
Baked and grooving this band. Gary rips it well!
Jesus, i took a heavy dose of 1P-LSD and by chance came to see this and boy i couldn't stop playing it! Holy shit brothers that guy is THE SHIT! Love it!!!
