Fast forward to today and this song punches you right in the gut. Now you’re under control.
Lol…now they are under control. They went from Rage Against the Machine to Obey the Machine faster than you can say fake ass sellouts with no principles.
Yep...hits different, I find that with soad too..
except these guys turned into massive cucks to the establishment and turned on there own morales......
Thanks
He didn’t write this for you bro lol
Not a cellphone in the world. Just PURE emotion.
Tim Commerford...one of the greatest and most underrated bassists of all time!
The bass player Tim Commerford had a broken right ankle and was wearing an air cast/walking boot during this show. He said in an interview that he wasnt about to disappoint the fans and the show must go on.
Damn didn't know that, he killed it that's for sure. Didn't make it seem like he had an injury lol he let the music do the healing/anesthesia it seems
The 80s was the most memorable decade for music but 90s rock was something special. Know your enemy is my fav RATM song by far.
I'm 49 ... so true 🤘
I bought their debut album like two months after it came out. It was suggested by a “The Wall” [best record store ever, everything lifetime guaranteed] employee that knew I bought everything from hardcore punk to gangster rap. “Know Your Enemy” is also my RATM fav. Great solo, hard hitting lyrics and a Maynard feature.
80s? And what about 70s?
@@antoniomaraspin no.
That's exactly I survived them Live in a small Club here in Germany.UN-FOR-GET-TABLE !
"Bullet in the Head" from that show is a must!
That was one of my favorite songs at this time. And yes, the 90's were a great time. :)
They were so young! And now I feel so old.... lol
@@black4pienus We are maybe old but still young in our hearts and our minds. I'm mostly looking forward and I'm still open for action and fun.
i was introduced to these guys at Lollapalooza '93 they opened the main stage in Nashville, i had never heard of them, their first album had just been released. and they absolutely BLEW the place up!! been a fan from the start. \m/
Was there 😃 Nice concert Pinkpop 1993. Quite a vibe (also with bombtrack), and a pretty heavy mosh pit IIRC. Would have missed it, if a friend hadn't dragged me to it. He was always better in doing his homework before the festival.
They perform freedom?
It's been awhile since I've turned my volume on my headphones all the way up for a reaction video. Love RATM energy.
One of my all time favourite songs! I didn't realise when I first heard this as a 13 year old in 1992 it started me on my metal journey that continues to this day
I still feel this song has Probably one of the best Intros out the gate ever! Still gets me to blast it whenever it comes on to this day.
When “Killing in the Name” first charted in the UK, it caused a lot of controversy and grief to the BBC on the 21st of February 1993 when BBC Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brookes accidentally played the entire uncensored version of the song as a new entry at #27 on the stations UK Top 40 countdown at 5:00 PM on a Sunday evening, little to aware that Brookes was recording a promo for next week’s countdown when the explicit ending was playing over the airwaves, resulting in Brookes announcing the next song without any apology! BBC RADIO 1 immediately received 138 angry phone calls of complaints from offended listeners. Whoops!
Remember wanting idols or something of christmas. This was Dutch multiple day concert festival and still referred today as best and all Dutch audience knew lyrics
138 angry sheep... 🐑🤙🏼
I played it on a British navy ship and the guys I was living with thought I had terrible taste in music. Lol
Definitely you two should get to reacting to Bullet In The Head and Fistful of Steel from this same concert.
Some awesome energy from early RATM and trust me, you would not be disappointed.
Yeah freedom and bombtrack too
This is one of my favourite live performances at Pinkpop, along with Pearl Jam 1992 (with stage dive!) and Live 1997.
Many rockers from the 60s and 70s immediately bought a RATM album
Rage Against The Machine is epic, pasion, and awsome lyrics
Don’t forget about modern day sellouts
Justified!
@@dannymurphy4261 What are you talking about? They still stand against police brutality.
I loved the 90s too, it was a decade of peace, joy and pancakes 😜
Zach, Tim, Tom, Brad - a poet in each instrument
I was able to see Rage 3 times in 96, 97, 03 (should have been 4 Thanks Covid), there was nothing like a Rage concert. In 97 I saw them with Wu-Tang Clan & the whole vibe of that concert was great. In 07 was their reunion tour & it rained hard & it was outdoor in Wisconsin & people were diving down hills of mud, it was chaos & really really hard to drive out of the muddy as parking lot, but one of the coolest parts was watching people help those who had gotten stuck unstuck.
DAM THE WHOLE BAND IS INTO IT, THIER ENERGY IS CONTAGIOUS.
So long ago, as I heard this first time, ist was realy a kick in my brain. Still loving it.
That's definitely a classic!
Greetings from Germany
the song of rebellion par excellence. happy to follow you from Italy
Those were some pissed off and cursing summers at the local swimming holes blasting RATM from our 60 battery powered boom boxes. 😆
Imagine groups of 13/14 year olds walking through the streets shouting: "F@$# you! I won't do what you tell me!"
Yes, yes I can those were the worst of times but the best of times 😆
Rage is the greatest collection of players EVER!!! And my favorite band! Will you react to “Freedom” the official music video 😉😃
One of the best songs of the 90s and this is no where near there best song. 👊
Classic and iconic.
Saw them in Paris, june 1993 (playing with Tool, Living Colour and Fishbone).
It was... (sorry, I have no english word...) monumental !!!
Enorme. Huge.
ahhhh, I was there when I was 16, jumping and banging (In the Netherlands Pinkpop) damn I am old :D uge festival. This year I saw Nightwish :)
Yep. Was daar ook. Nog steeds een vd beste optredens.
4:07 is so 90's. The baggy skater pants and everything. Can't believe there are people alive who never heard this before though.
They were great live, saw them in '93 at Lollapalooza in Dallas with:
Primus
Tool
Alice In Chains
Dinosaur Jr.
Fishbone
Arrested Development
Front 242
Great reaction my hunters!! I dig the energy!! Youse guys ROCK!
There's no school like oldschool...love the reaction guys.
Saw these guys at Reading, UK in 1996. Fucking phenomenal 🤘
Oh speaking of ... you need to get Suzi to react to.The Offspring - Come Out and Play.
90s, 00s, 10s, music doesn't care about inventions like the calendar - truly great songs/performances will prevail, no matter what. Great reaction.
It is 2023 and this song is actual as ever...
It was the 90’s our candle was still lit our energy level was high. Gone now but not forgotten
"Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses."
See them live in a couple days, can't wait to rage
a timless Masterpiece
I'm 68.......on my bucket list!!!
I can remember when they used to play this song at the bars. The whole bar is shouting F@CK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME! I imagine they heard us 3 blocks away.
You hit the nail on the head. They rage against the machine with a beat.
“Some of those that run forces are the same that burn crosses” think about that line …..
Everyone in Oz goes nuts when this plays at a venue ❤❤😎🤘🤘
There is a bit of situational irony in the fact that the crowd sings, in unison, "now they do what they told ya" at the exact appropriate time in the song, and Zack sings back to them, "Now you're under control." Not a smartphone in sight! People could be in the moment and create, not record, memories.
The irony in the meaning of the song, and what is going on today is stunning as well. Since they surely support all the government control happening now worldwide.
@@JayTor2112 Do they though?
The line is: 'now you do what -->they
@@Svavarsk 💯
@@JayTor2112 I am a Rage fan and oppose giving corporations and their government lackies more power. Governments should help to provide for the needs of working people, not oppress them - but the US government (along with every other capitalist government) has never had that character.
Oh hey, that was at Pinkpop! That's in my country, the Netherlands. Cool. All the best bands played at Pinkpop. Lots of epic performances.
I grew up in the 80's and 90's, loved the music, didn't get a cellphone till was almost 30 Suzie, never had a pager, had to get a cell when they removed all the phone booths lol
Thank your for doing this monumental band reaction.
Saw this show in Boise the old state pen and that was the coolest part when the whole crowd saying that F you don't do what you told me
Hell yes, I know you guys can relate to this. Rage kinda set the bar, well they did set the bar for fusing rap and rock. I like to call it bars and guitars lol, before them the only track that had that combo was Walk this Way Run DMC & Aerosmith. One of my favorite groups to this day
How about Public Enemy and Anthrax, bring the noise. Pretty much set the foundation for rap rock and nu metal.
@@matthewdrake4385 very true, forgot about that one. As far as doing it consistently though Rage was it
Beastie Boys
Pure energy! RATM rules!

I remember watching rage at T in the park in Glasgow in the early 90s and the did a song or two with cypress Hill who were supposed to be on earlier in the day but were delayed... rumor was they had issues with customs at Glasgow Airport ! Amazing gig 👌
That was Cathartic!!!
love to se you too love your own world 💖💜🖤
Angry angry !!!! Tom the Dj on guitars!!! Love this band ...
I miss the 90's!!
Zack de la rocha raises 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽👏👏👏👏👏
Good comment toward the end ma lady.
Love them.
Now its 2021 and they are doing what they tell them. They should change their name to embrace the machine
Tom Morello slays that axe
gary brooker of procol harum singing whiter shade of pale live in denmark, 2006. amazing voice.
These lyrics can be for today’s times.
Many still have no clue what this song and or band was even about. 😔
That's a big problem 😐
What most people are not aware of is this BS we r seeing surface now from our pathetic left wing politicians Rage recognized and saw the birth of this plan and it's induction into society way back then. This shit didn't just happen over night it's been a long time in he works... 🤙🏼
I think the sickest bass line they have is probably "bombstrack"
Grazie!!!
1993 at pinkpop the Netherlands I was there 🇳🇱😎👌
best rock band ever
Baladceprot in hiere,love music VOB.
They go by Rage on Behalf of the Machine theses days...or Rage FOR the Machine
Yup, That was some different time at Pink Pop.

Me (and my hair) went to this show.
More Rage!!!
VOB Version ... already 👍👍👍from Tom Morello ...
For me...along with CCR...USAs best band. THE GREATEST Band name. The London Hyde Park thing...just wonderful...
Sweet summer children...
Hahaha. Age?!?! I saw Live in 1981, when I was 16 years old.....nothing more that "QUEEN". The age isn'i important. The soul and spirit is the important thing!!!!
See 3 school girls from Indonesia concert at france they grup name VOB (voice of baceprot) cover this song bro.. Killing in the name
Check out Audioslave - Killing in the Name Live 8 (2005) and Prophets of Rage - same number. Just to compare Zach De la Rocha, Chris Cornell and Chuck D/B-Real. Same musicians on all three
