There was a lot of emotion and some hurt feelings in the hearts of all of these musicians as they performed this song for the last time together as a group and they knew it would be the last time. They were all trying not to cry and the bass player and keyboardist were angry with Neil Finn, the lead singer and founder because he had made the decision to end the group after 13 yrs. of nonstop touring with both Crowded House and his former group, Split Enz. To that smart ass Ben Dover & Phil MaCrackin who commented below, we know the band is called Crowded House mate (BUT) You can thank Neil Finn & Paul Hester for Crowded House. Finn & Hester, both from the NZ band Split Enz were the founding members of Crowded House. Finn and Hester decided to form the new band (Crowded House) during the first Split Enz farewell tour, "Enz with a Bang", in late 1984. The part about Australian Band a lot of New Zealand (NZ) people get popular and move to Australia as there is a much bigger audience. Tim and Neil Finn from NZ had a band formed in Auckland NZ called Split Enz from 1972 to 1984 in which Paul Hester was a member. The band was hugely successful and they move to Australia. They also did a successful tour of the US. Once Split Enz had broken up in 1985 Neil and Paul formed Crowded House in Melbourne Australia, in 1985. Tim Joined later. So there is always a rivalry between NZ and Australia who own them. Don't Dream it's Over was covered by Miley Cyprus performed it with Arianna Grande at a benefit concert. Fleetwood Mac Covered it as well when Neil Finn joined them. Is it a cover if the person who wrote it performs it with another band?
they're australian and new zealandlol, there were more australian members than new zealand members originally and the band was founded in Australia so this is false
Neil Finn is amazing at creating such hunting melodies...whether it's with CH, Split Enz or solo stuff. just amazing. Check out 'One Step Ahead' or 'Message to my girl' from Split Enz or 'I feel Posessed' , 'Distant Sun' or 'workd where you live' from crowded house. hell...thier whole catalog is fantastic
Crowded House were formed in Australia in 1985 by New Zealander Neil Finn (ex Split Enz,one of New Zealand's finest bands ever),along with Australians Paul Hester (ex Split Enz) and Nick Seymour. They briefly had Neil's brother Tim Finn (ex Split Enz) in the band as well. The band has split a few times, the first time after drummer Paul Hester passed away, and have reformed a few times since with Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour being the nucleus of the band. Neil Finn joined Fleetwood Mac a few years back after Lindsey Buckingham was sacked, but recently reformed Crowded House with Nick and 2 of Neil's sons, thus making Crowded House more of a Kiwi band now.

They released a greatest hits album in the UK about this time. Some greatest hits albums will have a couple of songs you think shouldn’t be on there, but their one “reoccurring dream” has 19 songs on it and all of them are bangers! One of my favourite albums.
Technically they are an Australian New Zealand band…the singer is a New Zealander (honorary Australian) and the drummer and bass player are Australian….fun fact, the bass players brother is the singer for another great Australian band called the hunters and collectors, they have a great song called throw your arms around me. Eddie Vedder covers that song and has sung it with Neil Finn many times.
Neil Finn is an incredible song writer. They broke up, their drummer Paul Hester died tragically, then they reunited with Neil’s sons playing with them. Their body of work is awesome. Songs like Better be home soon, Hold in the River, Not the girl you think you are, When you come, Help is coming, all phenomenal.
Paul Hester the drummer and the mist beautiful man sadly suffered from depression and took his own life in 2005. It was after an incredible free farewell gig they did on the steps of the Sydney Opera house, if you can find any of that footage its awesome. I was there, just incredible. Paul's suicide really effected the band, but the news that they are back and touring Australia this summer at festivals is wonderful.
Crowded House was one of my favorite artists to see live. They really know how to enjoy themselves onstage and Neil Finn is great at getting the audience involved.
OMG this is a. Brilliant song all Aussie and New Zealands all know this song from Crowed House . I remembered them back in the Hay Day at the RSL and club and at Night club’s knowing them back then .. So thrilled you played this amazing song . Woohoo from down under Sydney Australia 🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
Crowded House are my favourite band of all time. Pretty much all of their songs are legendary. This song was always played at the end of their concerts and when they played this in 1996 it was super emotional as we all knew it was the end....😢
OMG, you have been going down the Aussie music rabbit hole of late. You seem to be enjoying it so much. I did security at multiple of their concerts. I got asked by them if I would like to come and work at this concert, and I agreed( took a little string pulling on their end). I also worked up at Roxby Downs at one stage, every weekend for one year. It is an eight-hour drive from Adelaide, we would leave at around midday Friday, & I would put Crowded House Double CD on for the drive. We would work one venue Friday night & the other venue Saturday night & drive home Sunday(after two days away from our partners & family, we just wanted to get home to see them, so we usually left around 9 am Sunday, & of course the Crowded House CD went on for the drive)
What a great song , what a great band. THey filled any venue they played with warmth a sense of belonging. Have a listen to 'Sister Madly' so much fun, a great melody and a wonderful swing to the bass line. The dummer stands with the rest of the band playing a single snare drum and a cymbol with a pair brushes. So simple but so catchy.
I was on a train back to a friend's place after this concert. Someone further up in the carriage sang out 'Hey now, hey now' and the whole carriage burst into song.
Paul Hester was one of the funniest, most charismatic rock drummers of all time. He was a hilarious guest on anything he appeared on, especially his regular appearances on the legendary 'Martin/Molloy' radio show. It was always a cause for celebration when Hessie was a guest that day. His suicide really shook me, as it did anyone who loved the guy.
I did not think that this would be in your wheelhouse but they have a catalogue of great songs and really catchy melodies. Neil Finn the singer and primary writer had a decent set of solo albums and a further great album with his brother to add to the Crowded House albums. He eventually wound up singing with Fleetwood Mac. Great career, great songwriter.
This song has been covered by many artists but there is nothing as excellent as Crowded House performing their beautiful song 🙏❤️ I've heard Eddie Vedder perform this and Coldplay, Ariana Grande w. Miley Cyrus etc. 🌏🪐🍀🌕🙏🦋🌸🇦🇺🇦🇺👣🦉🏡🌹🌹🌹
You may want to check out an Australian icon called John Farnham otherwise known as the Voice. His greatest song in my opinion is called You're the Voice. It's a banger and well worth a look I promise :)
When I saw them in Portland in 2010 they closed with Better Be Home Soon. They were performing in an outdoor amphitheater and the moon was rising behind them as the performance came to a close. It was just too perfect. But zoning laws wouldn’t permit them to play on past eleven p.m.. Neil responded, “F*cking zoning laws!” I’d see them again if I got the chance.
Crowded House were “retiring” that night while they were at the top of their game and popularity. By Choice. The love of music got them to re-form a few years down the track.
Nick Seymour (Bass Guitar) is the brother of Mark Seymour (Lead Singer of Hunters And Collectors). You did a reaction video to "Throw Your Arms Around Me".
Neil Finn was a New Zealander so the band is only partly Australian. Without Neil there would have been no songs to play. Neil is currently a member of Fleetwood Mac.
when this band moved to USA with their families. They struggled to make ends meet so they ALL moved into the same house. They also struggled for a new name and finally decided to call themselves Crowded House after their living situation.
Thanks Aussie guy you know the Finn brothers who started this band are New Zealanders but yes some members like the sad departed drummer is an Australian more people know them as a Kiwi band lol. But where happy to share. Also before they become Crowded house they where called Split Enz Do check them out the where very different and creative for that time. I enjoyed this one Thank you.
To be fair, the talent in the band, the lyricist and songwriter, Neil Finn, is a New Zealander. As already mentioned Split Enz is also worth a listen. "I see Red" is a rockin' banger I am sure you would appreciate.
Hey Peter. Do a search of the Wolf Hunterz channel. Jon did a reaction to I see Red and History Never Repeats from the Seven Worlds Collide concert in Auckland. I think you might enjoy it. :)
You should check out Neil Finn (the lead singer) better be home soon live at the 2005 ARIA Awards it was a few months after Paul Hester's (the drummers) death. It is extremely emotional.

You guys due a great job with these reactions and all the work I believe will help you in your music careers!!!
Another iconic band is Hunters and Collectors.
I wasn't there but I remember this night so clearly - such a sad day to lose them as a band
😃 Love your channel.
Neil Finn is an absolute master song writer and super decent guy.
We can see a classic scene with this song, on the TV show "Miami Vice" in the 1980's, (in last scene of the episode: 'Rock and a Hard Place')
Could you imagine 100,000 people singing your song back to you 😲
Drummer in this video is Paul Hester who Some Aussie Guy wrote about. Vocalist Neil Finn is now playing with Fleetwood Mac
Aussie legends making us emote till the end of time xxx
Just saw them live. He sounds exactly the same in a good way.
This song always makes me cry. Also not long after this concert the drummer was found hanging from a tree. Suicide... 😥
Here's to us my australian neighbour.
Man this song takes me back bro.
1980s all over.
You may want to check out an Australian icon called John Farnham otherwise known as the Voice. His greatest song in my opinion is called You're the Voice. It's a banger and well worth a look I promise :)
He'll yes jump on the john farnham train with some of the other reactions on UA-cam it will get you quite a bit of attention.
Beautiful!!!
Crowded House were “retiring” that night while they were at the top of their game and popularity.
By Choice.
The love of music got them to re-form a few years down the track.
Great song! Appreciate the reaction as well.
Nick Seymour (Bass Guitar) is the brother of Mark Seymour (Lead Singer of Hunters And Collectors). You did a reaction video to "Throw Your Arms Around Me".
The band is made up of 2 members from Australia and 2 from New Zealand. The lead singer and song writer Neil Finn is now a member of Fleetwood Mac.
Thanks for the Aussie content you guys! Know you love harmonica...check out "I'll be gone" by Spectrum, 1971.
Both Neil and his brother Tim are both fantastic singers and songwriters, and proud Kiwis.
Neil Finn was a New Zealander so the band is only partly Australian. Without Neil there would have been no songs to play. Neil is currently a member of Fleetwood Mac.
The bass player is Nic Seymour brother of mark who is the lead singer of hunters and collectors another great aussie band
one of my fav songs
Watched this live on the telly, one of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t get my arse down to Sydney for this!
Remember watching this on TV live and listening to the simulcast on the radio. Think I even recorded it on vhs
when this band moved to USA with their families.
This is their farewell concert in 1996 in front of the Sydney Opera House.
Man, I'm glad I saw that, thanks!
Band formed in Melbourne, Australia but lead singer and his brother member were from New Zealand.
@@TrojBlu cool : )
Saw them in their first concert of their tour in Adelaide on April 5 2022 and they were awesome despite the different line up these days.
A trio, 2 thirds Australian, 1 third New Zealand. All brilliant. Love the blue lips!!!!!!
Again, as an australian, thank you again to NZ. Always a good team
Australia’s most loved band, another one from the “Great Oz Song Book”
You should check out Neil Finn (the lead singer) better be home soon live at the 2005 ARIA Awards it was a few months after Paul Hester's (the drummers) death. It is extremely emotional.
I think the 'Australian band' was emphasised, was because Neil is a kiwi, but they actually formed in Australia in '85.
