Hi everyone - been a while and I've missed you all! I took a little bit of time off to travel and catch up with life (which you might have seen on my Insta @sydneyfoodboy ). But just wanted to say I really appreciate you guys for watching always 😄so what do you reckon? Char kway teow or Char hor fun?
So nice to see you visiting my neighborhood! Bubbles and I are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the two places you tried, they are our fav's in Campise. Unfortunately, we haven't had the chance to try the other two eateries that were closed, but we will definitely give them a try now. There are plenty of excellent food options in Campsie, and we appreciate your support for our community in Campsie and Canterbury.
This was a really great video on Malaysian noodle dishes. I can’t wait for the cheap beats video in Campsie. Thanks for sharing Kev you know I love your videos❤️🥰
It’s so awesome to see great representation of the places I’ve grown up and Kevin does it so well. I went to Campsie public just down the road and it’s an awesome feeling to see this. Much love Kev❤❤❤
That Asian kid is me congratulations for finding me his name is Joseph! ❤❤❤ Also, to let you know, Albee’s Kitchen has turned into Albee’s Delight and there are some new foods to try out! 😮
I swear almost every time I watch your videos, it makes me heaps hungry. I send your video to a few friends and say, watch this video, we're eating here next.
Thanks for watching. Ronnie. Actually tried visiting both of those restaurants and also My Malaysian Kitchen too but unfortunately they were closed. Maybe I came at the wrong time or the wrong day!
Thanks Kevin. I visited Hokkien Kia today for Char Kway Teow after warching your video I’m a big fan and thought i’d had the best but this one was the BOMB It was exactly as you described it Had fun eating my dish and watching you at the same time smile😅 Keep up the good work mate
You’ve picked the right places for the dishes they specialise in. I would’ve recommended exactly the same. Coming from a Malaysian background I agree with these.
The char hor fun looked delicious. And yes i agree that if the signs are laminated, kids doing home work and a box of tissues on every table. Thats when know you will get a freakin good feed!!
In Malaysia we called it "Wah tan hor" instead of Char Hor Fun. Some prefer to eat it with pickled green chilli (the same as the pickle chilli Malaysian eat with Wantan mee).
Great video bro. Next time you go to Albee’s for the Char Hor Fun, get the combination noodles and ask for crispy vermicelli. The texture combination in this version is amazing.
@@SydneyFoodBoy Ah cool yeah they rearranged their layout over there too kinda recently. The marmite chicken is definitely low on flavour complexity but high on tasty comfort rating for me.😛
Hey I’m Malaysian! Thx for the recommendation. Btw… ur prawn eating skills need work ;) I’m gonna go to to your recommendations on my days off next. Thanks again mate. U r a legend. Btw… we should go gym some time hahaha.
I won't be able to make it this year because I'm going overseas soon. Unfortunately. Though I did do a Ramadan video last year on the channel so please check that out 🙂 I also did a reel which I'll re-upload as a short soon for you guys.
Yes please do a follow up in Campsie I live here in Campsie and have no idea where the best food is...Im South American so would love some new insight in foodies in Campsie.
As an Indian, I started loving Malaysian and Singaporean food when I was working in Singapore and while travelling to Malaysia. Now I try them in Sydney too but it is not coming close to the ones I had in Singapore and Malaysia.
Hi, great choices of Malay Restaurants but you missed one good restaurant Penang Hawker right opposite Albee’s Kitchen. Their Hainan chicken rice is the best!
More videos in Campsie coming for sure! Happy to take recommendations on which restaurants sell the best of each of the above! I have a slight idea but what do you reckon? 🙂
@@SydneyFoodBoy My go-to is Hokkien Kia. Never been let down. While you're there, stop by the "Random Chinese Cooked Meats Butcher", corner of Beamish Street and Anzac Mall (It doesn't have a name I think. "Northern Chinese Botcher", next to Joker Cafe), for "pig snout", "random collar bone", pork knuckle and "unidentified delicious cold meats"). Tong Li in the Campsie Centre is worth a visit too, especially their counter of "Cooked unidentified cold cuts". I've only been game enough to try the chicken feet, but I'd love to see someone get a mixed box of stuff and review it.
Sorry that you missed out on your third restaurant. I hope that you did not get a bad impression of Campsie. It is a hidden gem for foodlies in Sydney. The scene is constantly changing. Thirty years ago when I moved here it was mostly Korean and Chinese restaurants . Now there is much more variety. What have you done to your wrist ? Stay safe.
Char hor fun is best eaten with pickled green chillies... A little bit sourish / tangy. And also try to ask for Yin Yang style which is basically mixed noodles.
Oooo interesting. I'll take your advice on the pickled chili's next time thanks! I guess I have to ask for it right? And is yin yang style half egg noodles and half rice noodles?
@@SydneyFoodBoy Yes you can request for the pickled green chillies... Some do have them some don't. Same with requesting for Yin Yang style mixed noodles, some do them some don't. It's half char hor fun rice noodles and half rice vermicelli noodles. With the rice vermicelli noodles, some places deep fried them till crispy, that's the one I like.
@@SydneyFoodBoy I just had my dinner there and told the owner of the restaurant about you guys, she said you could come again preferably before 3pm or after 5pm because they have lunch break at 3-4pm. The restaurant is close on every Tuesday. Honestly their pork noodle soup is worth trying 👍👍👍
I know there is a large population of Muslims in Malaysia, but not all Malaysian dishes are halal. These particular dishes are more Chinese Malaysian so I assume would cater for a different community 🙂
Saw you in a Sydney Morning herald article, didn't know you were an optometrist 9-5!Keep up the good work Mr La!
Thank you Antony 😄

Albees is consistently good
Hor fun!! Used to live in Singapore and still to this day have never had a better Hor Fun
I agree! I love that place!
You mean the best hor fun you've ever had was in Singapore? 🙂
I’m having hor fan to break fast tonight, cos of you! You make me crave bro!

What a great neighbourhood to live in! Please let me know if you do try those other two eateries and if they're very good 😊
Great video and good choices 👍🏻 Can’t wait to visit here next time.
This was a really great video on Malaysian noodle dishes. I can’t wait for the cheap beats video in Campsie. Thanks for sharing Kev you know I love your videos❤️🥰
Thanks for watching Irena! Everyone loves noodles so I hope this one hits home 😜😜

Thanks for the nice message mate! Glad I could put a smile on a Campsie local 😁
So glad there’s a number of Malaysian restaurants so close to home! Adding them to my list. Thanks, Kevin!
Campsie is a treasure chest!!! So many good Malaysian restaurants here 😄
What a great video! I’m so jelly of your appetite!! 😂 looks delicious

Looking forward to the campise cheap eats!
So many good options while walking down that main strip! Keen for it too 🙂
YES! Thanks for doing this review, been umming and arring on trying these
Thanks so much for watching 🙂

🤣🤣 LOL! Thanks heaps for sharing the video around to friends George! I really appreciate you helping to support the channel that way 🙂
assam curry fish cutlets is very good too
good video mate
Enjoy your video. There are more Malaysian restaurants to try like Malaysia Small Chilli restaurant, Ipoh Dynasty etc.
Thanks for watching. Ronnie. Actually tried visiting both of those restaurants and also My Malaysian Kitchen too but unfortunately they were closed. Maybe I came at the wrong time or the wrong day!

I like all kinds of noodles but those wide rice noodles really do it for me.
You’ve picked the right places for the dishes they specialise in. I would’ve recommended exactly the same. Coming from a Malaysian background I agree with these.
Thanks for watching mate. Glad I made the Malaysians proud 😜
Ooh any recommendations for best kari ayam in the area? I love the one from mamak and temasek, but hoping to find something more local!
The char hor fun looked delicious. And yes i agree that if the signs are laminated, kids doing home work and a box of tissues on every table. Thats when know you will get a freakin good feed!!
Just small characteristics of any good Asian restaurant, aren't they 😜😜
Especially the kid doing homework LOL when I saw it, it made me laugh straight away 🤣
@@SydneyFoodBoy you know it!
You look very Malaysian there! Glad you love Malaysian food.
I love Campsie! I miss Penang Hawker and most of all Golden Crown Yummy Express.
Just had lunch at Albee’s kitchen in Kingsford. So nice.
Awesome spot!
Hey Sydney food boy Ramadan is here, you should do another Ramadan food review at lakemba food stall
Can you try nikaido japanese bbq in burwood bro?
Looks super yummy, yes please to more spicy!
The spicier the better 😜
you should try Ipoh Dynasty resto at campsie, authentic Ipoh Malaysia
In Malaysia we called it "Wah tan hor" instead of Char Hor Fun. Some prefer to eat it with pickled green chilli (the same as the pickle chilli Malaysian eat with Wantan mee).
Oh man both dishes look so delish!
A lot of Campsie places were closed for Chinese New Year.
We filmed this during Chinese New Year!
Great video bro. Next time you go to Albee’s for the Char Hor Fun, get the combination noodles and ask for crispy vermicelli. The texture combination in this version is amazing.
Thanks Matt! So it's just called crispy vermicelli combination noodles? Is it a particular order on the menu?
generally especially in Penang, you eat the Char Hor Fun with pickled green chillies not the sambals
There's Albee's in Kingsford too that's closer so I go there. Addicted to their marmite chicken.
I did go to the Kingsford branch once when I was studying at university there. I've never tried the chicken dish before though!
@@SydneyFoodBoy Ah cool yeah they rearranged their layout over there too kinda recently. The marmite chicken is definitely low on flavour complexity but high on tasty comfort rating for me.😛
Love Albee's kitchen! Sure spicy food!
I should ask for extra extra sambal next time 😄

I'm sure there are many better than me at eating prawns 🤣 cool to know you're Malaysian!
Try seagull at campise 😋
OG
More spicy for sure 100
Oh I walked past that one!! What should I order there? It's a Chinese restaurant right? 🙂
I love the Char Kway Teow with char siu pork from Albees. Albee's also does a really good Laksa.
I'll have to try the CKT from albees next time 😊
❤❤❤ thanks for coming to my home town
I love Campsie fam 😄😄
@Sydney Food Boy night markets start soon in lakemba... If possible please cover that its a foodie dream and fun time

As an Indian, I started loving Malaysian and Singaporean food when I was working in Singapore and while travelling to Malaysia. Now I try them in Sydney too but it is not coming close to the ones I had in Singapore and Malaysia.
You supposed to eat green pickle chilli with char hor fun. Make sure to try it next time!
Hi, great choices of Malay Restaurants but you missed one good restaurant Penang Hawker right opposite Albee’s Kitchen. Their Hainan chicken rice is the best!
Kevin, you are a legend!!!!
You guys are legends for watching!
We'd love to see round two of Malaysian Campsie, Hainan Chicken Rice, Ha Mee, Laksa, Ba Kut Teh!
More videos in Campsie coming for sure! Happy to take recommendations on which restaurants sell the best of each of the above! I have a slight idea but what do you reckon? 🙂
I was going to go to Cinta Rasa for bak kut teh but they were closed unfortunately

No bad impression at all, I love Campsie! I hurt it while at the gym but all recovered now, thanks for your thoughts Lynne!
It's like burwood cloest

SOLD! 🤤
That’s is still another Malaysian restaurant that you should go in Campsie. ( Ipoh Dynasty Restaurant)
We actually tried to visit but the owner turned us away because the chef had left early at 3pm 🥲

Yes all good, on the day the timing just didn't work unfortunately, but I'll be sure to get there sometime 😊
Can't wait for the cheap eat in Campsie bro.
Stay tuned. Maybe in the next couple months 😀
Are there any halal places in the area?
I will make sure to visit I rarely visit campsie 😂
I hope you have a great time at Campsie 😁
Cheap eats in Campsie video please.
Next time try Jeans Chilli Chicken spicy Grill chicken and Chicken feet at Eastwood Hotel
I tried jeans chilli, it’s nice but my stomach can’t take it lol
Is it Korean or Chinese style?
@@SydneyFoodBoy it’s Korean
The Food Court in Chinatown Sydney makes bigger Char Kway Teow and cheaper
Oh really! Which one? Next to Gumshara?
honest
REVIEW
PLS.
Delish
Char kway teow for the win (certainly better than KFC)
Pork in Malaysian dishes? Never heard of that before. Isn't it Muslim dishes?
I know there is a large population of Muslims in Malaysia, but not all Malaysian dishes are halal. These particular dishes are more Chinese Malaysian so I assume would cater for a different community 🙂
What happened to your wrist ;)
Best guess wins? 😏😏
De Quervain's tenosynovitis?
Jacking off too much I think 🤔
Sprain
I thought Campsie was more Korean! But now I know so will head down there!
