If you have any questions about the process, let me know in the comments :)
Even if camera wifi is connected to iphone somehow camera connect is not working. That popup to connect with camera is not coming when i am going back to camera connect app
Can you share to me the correct canom camera connect app link?? 🙏
@@kidyyeshi6239 just look for Canon Camera Connect in the app store, should pop right up :) It is only for mobile devices, for laptops or desktops you will need EOS utility
Do you have a Wi-Fi adapter installed in the SD slot? Or you’re using HDMI? I don’t get this part..
It looks like the app just doesn't work at all anymore. What a shame, I used to use it all the time. Sending to my phone for editing and upload was basically the only reason I had this camera, (m50) now it just sits on the shelf gathering dust. What a joke.
Holy cow man, I can't tell you how long I struggled!!!!! Thanks so much.
Glad it helped!
Nicely done with this vid! Fellow Orlando photographer here, I just got an R5 a month ago after using a D800 for the past 7-8 years. I thought the connect feature was pretty great, but I didn't know about the rating feature. That's seriously handy, thanks for including that here. I'm definitely going to be taking advantage of that with clients!
I'm glad it was helpful to you!
Thank you so much, I have struggled with having to type in a password every time, now, with your method, it is easy, fast, and reliable!
Glad it helped you :)
Finally, a great video on using Canon Camera Connect feature. It can be frustrating. I had to call Canon to help me out recently. No more tethering.
THanks for watching! It's not perfect, but if you use it this way, it's pretty darn reliable
This video is awesome !! Such a good and complete tutorial! Thanks Gary!!
No problem!
Great video, very well explained. I used all the time in my workshops to show the images to the students.
Yes, same!
Hero!! Solved the problem I was having within minutes! Thank you!
Happy to help!
I've checked myself once more and everything I did to pair Canon 90D with all my devices was correct and right. Thanks a lot Gary!!!
Glad it helped!
Just the info that I needed to get this working. Thanks for your efforts here.
Happy to help :)
Absolute lifesaver, well for the camera anyway 😂😂 thanks very much for making my time with the camera and app enjoyable instead of so frustrating. Well done and thanks again
No worries!
I love the PhotoBomb podcast - listen to it often. This video is perfect and appreciate your work doing this. I was considering purchasing CamRanger 2, but honestly, this looks like it will work just fine for my needs. Will be testing this out shortly.
Thanks for listening, glad it helps :)
This is so great! It worked perfectly in 1 min. Thank you
Happy to help :)
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put together this step-by-step tutorial. I can’t imagine how complicated it was to record yourself, your camera screen and your iPad. Then edit it all together and cut between them at the right times.
I can see the ratings feature also being useful when you’re doing free TFP (Time for Prints) photo shoots with models. Stream the photos to your phone or tablet. Then have the model go through the photos and rate her favorites. So you know which ones to prioritize for editing and retouching.
Do it on the spot rather than choosing the photos yourself or asking the model to pick the photos after the shoot. Avoid getting stuck in a game of email tag.
For ideas on future videos, I’d like to see a follow-up to this video and the video of your contactless group headshot session. Show how you set up a contactless headshot photo shoot at a client location. You can just do it in your studio as if you were on location.
Appreciate all you do.
Great idea, thanks! We are moving to a new studio soon and will probably do it then
Thanks a million for this video !Subscribed !
You’re welcome, glad it was helpful!
Really great explanation, thanks Gary.
Thank you, Matt!
Thank you so much for showing these steps. So much easier.
Happy to do it. The app has been updated and seems a little extra buggy lately, if there is an update to this I will make another video
Great tutorial! I got a new phone and have been so frustrated trying to connect to my camera. This was easy to understand and follow.
So glad it helped!
Wow, I can’t believe how easy you did that. I struggled so long with that function that I gave up using it. I really like that you did the second power up. I was doing that all wrong & couldn’t get it to work. Thank you so much for posting this
It’s not perfect, but it works :)
Thank you so much!! Huge help. I hate this app; love my camera. It's complicated, but thanks for making this easier.
My pleasure! Thanks for tuning in
This video would have definitely saved me a call to Canon Tech Support. Well done!
Hey no problem! It’s not a perfect system, but it really works well for most things when you get the hang of it
Great video. Great teaching skills--- cute daughter. Your family is lucky to have you....
Thanks very much :)
great tips as usual. I will be changing my settings to wifi asap
Let me know how it goes!
That was great. I will try it when I get home cause it really confused me all the time. Thank you so much
From Malta
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Good work. Well done.
Thanks!
Yes!
:)
Thanks for making this! I didn't know they added funneling. (maybe it was there all along?)
I think it has!
these were the easiest directions I found on youtube for the CANON EOS 50 for connecting to the camera connect app
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching :)
Simply the best tuto on the question ! I've spend and loose hours to make it work until I stumble on your video. Great work. Many thanks.
PS Do you know if it's possible to set the connection on several devices ( phone & tablet) ?
Yes absolutely, you just can’t connect to more than one at a time. Thanks for watching, glad it helped!
I've used this before and really like it! Do you know if you keep the wifi enabled on the camera if it'll drain the battery faster?? Using an R and not the M50 for mine.
Yes the wifi definitely shortens the battery life and the app is pretty tough on the battery as the screen will stay active. Keep extra batteries handy!
Btw Stiffany’s scarf looks great!!
I hate that she can just wear anything and look fabulous
Hi nice video. For some reason can't live view video or record video remotely thorough this app on my m6. Are you saying you record remotely through this app? What camera are you using?
Yes, on the RP and the R5. Have you updated the firmware?
Good tutorial, Gary! But just to let you know for the 5DIV there are a few more steps and also you can't disable the use of a password and the password changes each time you connect. In the studio, though, I can setup the 5DIV to connect to the wifi there and then connect relatively quickly to Camera Connect on my iPhone/iPad. Once I move up to the R5 I might use Camera Connect more, but for now I just tether into my laptop directly with a cable for location shoots. And in the age of COVID I use an iPad connected wirelessly to my Macbook Pro using the sidecar feature to maintain social distancing with my clients when reviewing their photos for final selection.
Hey thanks for watching. The 5d IV was the first camera I ever did this with and used it the same way for a couple of years. As far as I can recall, the process is the same.
I followed along with your video but found a couple of steps were different. I can get it to work but it takes a bit longer to setup unless I connect to the existing wifi with both my camera and my iPhone. Then it's pretty quick (still need to enter password if the wifi has it enabled). Regardless, seeing you use Camera Connect with your iPad on one of your other videos reminded me that was an option I can use for on location shoots without needing my laptop and my Tether Cable. Good stuff. Oh, and this is Junmo btw.
Right on, man. Yes the different generations of cameras are slightly different, but it works pretty well :) thanks for the feedback, Junmo!
Have either of you been able to use the usb cable and connect your 5d mk4 directly to an android tablet and then transfer images of directly edit images with or without this app? My Samsung refuses to see the camera storage while wired. Can only connect on wifi with this app. Very frustrating.
@@cornchips007 Sorry, though I'm not strictly an Apple person (I use a PC for my main photo editing machine), I don't have any experience using Android devices with Canon. Sorry can't give any further insight.
This is an excellent explanation of a rather confusing configuration. Thanks a lot! However, I still miss the fantastically simple solution of some PowerShot cameras (including my Canon 700D), where you just select the 10s-delay/remote shooting option in the menu and.... that's it! You just take out the little remote controller and you can take selfies or long exposure shots from a tripod if you so whim.
I'm pretty sure you can do that now too :)
Great video, to the point but I digress.
I found the WiFi connection is faster and easier done via BT.
I’ve had no issues with it.
Canon Menu terminology makes it more complicated than it should be though.
Also leaving WiFi on, drains the battery too fast.
Great, thanks for watching and the feedback.
USB cable to the camera using the apple camera lightning adapter works perfectly as well, with or without the added charging port connected to power to iPad
Yea totally. I shoot tethered to my iPad all the time. I use CCC mostly to remote control my camera with my phone for photo and video as well as grabbing vacation photos off my camera to share :)
Hi. Thank you for the video
Do you recommend to connect my camera through my home Wi-Fi
I don’t use the Bluetooth but connect my camera directly to my WiFi or is it bad?
I haven’t done it through a network, isn’t really necessary. Might be cool though
Great video. On my R7, I find if I connect via Bluetooth 1st then try to go to Import Images mode it connects to the Wifi just fine everytime. (after the initial setup)
Good tip!
Do you can use iPad as a monitor to your Canon on the Canon app through usb c port cable to the iPad ?
No I don’t think so
Hi Gary, thanks for the video. Have you tried using the GPS connection. I use this via Bluetooth when I am travelling. I have found it to be unreliable, it only seems to update when the camera first connects. This means that if you are shooting on the move the GPS location is not updated. I have experienced shooting for 20 minutes with no change to the GPS data. I have also connected 2 cameras at the same time, again using Bluetooth, sometimes this works ok sometimes it doesn't. I would be interested in any experience that you have.
Hi Steve, that's not a feature that I have played with much and, from what I understand, it's one of the things that gets loads of complaints. Most of the time I am using it to preview images in my studio, but I will have to fire it up and test the GPS and see what's what.
@@GaryHughesOfficial Hi Gary, thank you. I find that the other remote facilities work well and reliably but after having the 7D M2 and the 5D Mk4 I’m now finding GPS frustrating
Sorry to hear that, wish I could be more helpful
Have you done one with the Canon M50 Mark 2?
No I haven’t used it, but I suspect it has the updated menu with the dedicated wireless tab like the newer Canon cameras :)
Thank you for this video! But I have one problem, after doing everything, the white square doesn't pop up on my connect app even after doing everything right. What should I do?
I have found that (at least with Apple devices) you gotta wait an extra few seconds after connecting to the WiFi from the camera before switching over to the Canon app. THat's the only thing that comes to mind at the moment. Try a couple of different devices as well and see if you get different results. Good luck!
Nice video! I couldn´t turn on automatic download in bluetooth connection. Can you talk more about this?
I don't really use it. First set it up on the M5 I bought for my wife, haven't really played with it since. I will take the recommendation and add it to my list, could be a good video.
@@GaryHughesOfficial Just imagine: You shoot and already in your computer. I couldnt find a good vídeo about it. like this one
That’s because that there isn’t a great, reliable way to do that yet. Not without a tether cable anyway. It is possible to shoot wireless to a computer with both EOS Utility and Capture 1, but neither are particularly easy to use or reliable compared to a cable.
Thanks for this great video. Something that I've had troubles with is the ability to use the app to have a full screen view of the previous image I just took. What I would like to do is click the shutter and then have the app refresh and show a full screen view of that image without having to do anything on the ipad. Am I missing something with the app? Thanks so much for any information you can provide.
Good question. If you have the most recent thumbnail enlarged and the images sorted by date, I think it will show the images full screen as you shoot them. I will have to set up and test this, though as it's not the way I typically use the app.
@@GaryHughesOfficial Thanks so much!!
This is the exact question I've been scouring the internet for. The image on my phone actually shows up a little smaller than the camera LCD. And if I rotate my phone, it gets even smaller(!). Did you ever figure out a solution?
@@SeanRainer no I did not :(
God damn interesting
You’re God Damn right
Is there a way to use it as an intervalometer/for time lapse?
Canon just did a complete overhaul on the CCC app so a new video is coming soon. I will add this to the things I need to address. My burst guess is that if the camera has the capability, you can use the remote features to push the shutter. If not, I don’t think it will add the functionality. I will dig into it though
Great vid! Can I connect a tablet or phone and view images while continuing to shoot using a wired intervalometer? I use my DSLR for astrophotography and the camera's screen can end up in some interesting positions!
Yes that should work
@@GaryHughesOfficial it was worth a try but it seems to cancel any input from the intervalometer. Still, cheers for the vid, it made connection to phone easy. 👍
I’ve been struggling to connect my camera to the app. My devices see the SSID, and I can select it, but the camera does not appear to connect. I don’t seem to have all of the menu layers that you have (It’s a Powershot SX60 IS,) I have a DSLR but I’m going on a family vacation and I just want the ease of point and shoot. But. I am baffled as to why the camera will not connect to my phone or my iPad, Are you in Orlando? That’s where I’m headed for vacay. My daughter works for The Mouse.
I would make sure that you have an updated version of the app and the latest firmware on the camera. I’m in Winter Park, just outside Orlando :)
I do like the video, very concise. I connect to my EOS RP just fine but I take one picture then app stops working :(
Not sure what causes that, I haven’t had that experience. When this happens I try multiple devices (different phones and tablets) to see if I can recreate the error. Also make sure the app and the camera firmware are up to date :)
This is a great tutorial. Most of the time, I want to connect to my iPad. But sometimes I want to connect to my iPhone. Once I have established a connection to the iPad, I can't seem to get a connection to my phone. Do you know why this is and what I can do to get whichever one I want?
I couldn't say specifically, but it you set it up for each device individually like in the video, when you go to wireless comm. settings and select wifi function, you should be able to choose between them pretty easily. If you have any trouble, just disable wireless communication and then enable it (turn it off and on again).
Very useful video thank you!
What do I do if the Camera Connect App does not show your camera model? My canon is eos 60Da and the app does not have that model options. The app prompts me to register a camera model and gave the list of all models except the 60Da 😭
That’s interesting. Are you sure the camera has WiFi? From what I can gain in a Google search, it’s one of their lineup that isn’t WiFi capable. There is a WiFi adapter I think though.
Great video, I'm up and running with the app, thank you. Quick question re using it with Capture One. I thought with Capture One you aren't meant to have any memory cards in your camera or else it messes up the tethering. Wondering how you use it in this instance. i.e tethering to Capture one but also giving your client a phone or iPad to rate photos on the Canon Camera Connect app - is that possible?
I don’t tether into C1 at the same time. I use this method in the studio and tether to C1 when on location. V 22 of C1 has added wireless tethering support for Canon, I’m interested to try it out
@@GaryHughesOfficial Ok, super. Thanks very much for the quick reply.
No worries
Hi Gary, I’ve set this up in my studio and my phone/canon connect app and camera have connected properly and are working.
I have a pocket wizard on my camera that is firing my studio light (which has a pocket wizard connected to it).
When I’ve tried to do a self portrait using the remote shutter on the app the camera works but the pocket wizards don’t fire.
Do you know why this would be or if there is something I can do to get it to work?
Thanks,
Thérèse
I forgot to say - the camera is a canon 5D mark 4 and the flash is a profoto D1. I use pocket wizard to connect them.
This is a great tutorial but how would you get this to work with a Surface tablet? It's not an Android or iOS. Any suggestions?
As far as I know, Surface runs full Windows so Camera Connect isn’t an option. You can use EOS Utility on the desktop to connect wirelessly. It works and it’s included with the camera, but for professional grade wireless tethering you will need something like a Tether Tools Air Direct.
Could you provide the link for the follow up video for the workflow with the ipad please. Thanks so much!
Haven’t made that one yet, but it’s on the list :)
I am having trouble setting this up on my R5 the app only wants to do easy connection process on my samsung phone.
There is a phenomenon that causes the WiFi connection not to work if you are near a mesh network, happened to me once out on a job. The camera wasn’t able to create a hot spot that the iPad could find. Frustrating l, but they will address it pretty soon in a firmware update. Try the process in another location and see what happens. Good luck!
Great tutorial but is there a way to use back button focus? And I sometimes have problems focusing outside. It’s like my subject (me) is out of focus but the background is in focus. Even when I zoom in and focus, I see green square but I can tell it is out of focus. Only happens outside sometimes. Any advice to fix this?
Hey Michael! Back button focus in relation to which camera?
@@GaryHughesOfficial canon EOS REBEL T6
Not sure how it relates to the CCC app, but there are plenty of videos on setting up BBF ua-cam.com/video/18Ib1mhvjOA/v-deo.html
Does this also work with the EOS 2000D?
It should if it has WiFi capability. Make sure your firmware is up to date :)
On the app page on Apple it says that it can also be used to update firmware just wondering how do you do that on the iPad?…..please help I need to update my camera so my lens works properly thank you in advance
Make sure to update to the latest version, it should be there. If it’s not for some reason, use your phone to update the firmware. Procedure to connect is identical :)
I am having trouble connecting my r5 to my s22 ultra. I get everything setup but the 2 won't connect. I had no trouble connecting the r5 to my Samsung tablet which is much older than my phone. Should I remove everything from both phones and start over
I’ve not tried to USA an Android phone, but I know there was a recent update to the CCC app that is pretty buggy. Make sure firmware is up to date and reinstall the app maybe
Will autofocus work when shooting using a mobile device if you have the camera configured with back button focus?
That’s a really good question and it completely depends on the camera. Any camera with face detect (DSLRS with live view) or mirrorless cameras should focus just fine.
@@GaryHughesOfficial ok, should work with the Canon R6 mkii then with bbf configured. I'll have to give it a shot . . . Pardon the unintended pun.
lol, no apology necessary, I love a bad pun.
Help , How do I get to the favorites with the green and the star? Thanks,Marlys
Which camera are you using?
@@GaryHughesOfficial M50
@@marlysblanche4270 it should be right there in your camera menu :) Here is a link to the manual for the M50 that you can reference www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras/mirrorless/eos-m50-body
I have a Canon Rebel T7 and I’ve been able to connect the camera to the app in the past but unable to today. I don’t see these settings options under my yellow wrench to save as favorites. Can you provide more info for my camera please? The camera is just flashing the wifi light and screen says connecting….. monitor will turn off after connecting but it’s been over 30 minutes now.
I am not directly familiar with the camera, so I can't tell you exactly how the menu works, but I do know that you need to use the green star menu to create favorites. Here is a YT video on the menu layout ua-cam.com/video/9d8zRrrAnXA/v-deo.html - without seeing exactly what you are doing, I can't really tell you what might be going wrong. I', not able to provide support through YT channel comments, but I highly recommend giving Canon tech support a call and seeing if they can guide you through.
Should you disconnect "disable" wi-fi on your camera if not using camera connect to save battery life?
I'm sure on some level it helps extend battery life but not all that much.
Hi, please help me!! I have an EOS R6, iPhone XS max and iPad pro 12, easy to connect between, BUT... the image in my phone and iPad get freeze and glitch, something like stop and go, stop and go, stop and go. I'm really frustrated because the main reason to update my Canon 7D was the connectivity, I want to use my Apple devices as monitor for video, but the glitches are to much. I've tried reinstalling the app and resetting the wi-fi and Bluetooth on my camera and devices, but the operation doesn't work. Help me, please. Thank you.
Hey I’m sorry that you’re having an issue with it. Couple of questions? Do you have a mesh network in your home or office? Have you updated the firmware on the camera? Have you contacted Canon support?
Before I saw your video, I was so frustrated with the connection between my PowerShot and my Pixel 6. Then, I found this video and it has been a lifesaver ... until now. My phone died today and since I have recharged it, it hasn't been able to reconnect to my sx740hs. I am getting error code 11. Any ideas on what to do?
I’m not familiar with the camera, but I would delete the device (phone) in the camera menu and set it up from scratch. I’ve had to do that in the past
I just started using my g7x markii again and i used to use the connect app but im having problems with it now i get the point of the phone recognizing the camera (the name is in the app) but theres no qr code or anything i try scanning for the camera connection and nothing
I would go into the camera and erase the connection and start over. Need to do that every once in a while when it acts up
I bought the M50 for real estate photography, and now I use it for everything. I sold all my nikon DSLR's and lenses..... I keep pondering the idea of upgrading the M50 but I cant come up with a reason why because, it does everything I need it to do with amazing image quality.
It’s a great little camera, for sure
Did you have any problem with the app not saving videos saying “not storage on device to save” even though I have plenty of storage on my phone still doesn’t let me save the image?
No, I am able to transfer videos no problem. That being said, I mostly do pretty short clips. Are you trying to transfer large videos? In that case you might consider a small card reader for your phone/tablet.
@@GaryHughesOfficial yea maybe because the clips was 28 minutes long I wasn’t able to save it. I tried on my phone and my iPad which had plenty of storage.
My guess is the clip was too long. Not sure what the limit is, but sounds like there is one
Same with rebel t8i canon ? And can someone tell me if that’s a decent camera
You can get a list of the cameras compatible with Canon Camera Connect with a quick Google search. The T8i is a fine camera, it just all depends on what you use it for.
@@GaryHughesOfficial what would you say it’s better for photography or video
It’s a solid hybrid camera, fine for both. Probably a little better for photography in my opinion
Thank you for this video. You probably know Canon upgraded the software, and it's giving me fits. Any chance you can redo this video? I need help.
Yes, I’ve noticed that it’s acting crazy since the update. Still working on a fix, if I find one I’ll make a video about it
Using Camera connect on my Android device with my EOS R. The Bluetooth connection is there but when I actually try to connect the app to the camera and manipulate the images on the camera it actually uses the Bluetooth connection to establish the Wi-Fi connection. it won't actually do any controls over BT as far as I can see.
Yes indeed, I try to stay clear of the BT function in CCC as it's a little wonky. As far as I can tell it's best for auto-transfer while you shoot.
Will this work without wifi on location without my home wifi?
yes indeed. you connect directly to the camera. The camera (if wifi capable) is the hotspot. There is no internet, obviously, but your device and camera can talk to each other.
So I am kinda tech stupid. If you have now set the camera up to create its own wifi, does this mean I can take this out in the field and not have hot spots or wifi interruptions?
The camera essentially IS the WiFi hot spot. You won’t be able to get internet, but you will be able to transfer images to your phone :)
All I wish for is the ability to auto transfer images to my mobile device based on star rating in camera. This is handy for sporting events when you quickly want to pick a few images to auto upload for editing and posting. Typical example would be top three athletes crossing the finish line.
You can definitely auto transfer, but in this scenario you are rating the images on the camera, right? So, forgive me if I am being thick headed here, why don't you just rate them on your phone after auto transfer instead? It seems to me that the amount of time spent culling and rating would be the same on your camera or phone, wouldn't it?
@@GaryHughesOfficial Hi , its because I'm taking hundreds of photos and it takes time to sift through all of them to find the top 6 shots of the day. I want to quickly tag them in camera as I take them and then just sync and upload those shots. Its particularly hectic during large triathlon events when the social media team want top three shots every 30 min and you still need to shoot while doing this.
Yes, totally get it. I was thinking the amount of time to look through and rate them would be the same whether on your phone or camera. The problem would be storage, I suppose. Transferring only certain ratings is a neat ideA
I know this is an older video but viewers should know that if you leave Wi-Fi on your camera it will drain the battery fast. A workaround for some canon cameras like the R5 is Airplane Mode. Leave your Bluetooth & WiFi on your camera and then turn Airplane mode on. Then it won’t drain your battery.
that's a good tip, thanks
Great video, thanks for sharing! I have been using this app for a while. Recently, this message has started coming up ´AF cannot be operated because custom controls is set´. In order words, I cannot focus by touching the ipad screen any longer. Would anybody have an idea how to fix that?
Which camera are you using? Does touch to focus work when not connected to the iPad?
@@GaryHughesOfficial Thank you for getting back to me. It is Canon 5d Mark IV. The app used to work smoothly with this camera. I am not aware of changing anything in the camera menu. I even deleted and downloaded the app again but that did not help.
When it comes to touch to focus, maybe I did not express myself correctly as a non native speaker. The thing is, when connected to the iPad, I used to focus by touching the iPad´s screen and the camera fosucing system acted according to that. Now it does not allow me to do so, so I need to focus right on the camera by half pressing the shutter (or manually) and then I can take the photo by pressing the ´shutter´ on iPad´s screen. It kind of works for interiors and stills but sometimes it would be much more practical to do all the job on the iPad without touching the camera. Hope of makes sense :)
I’m not sure on that one, are you a CPS member? If not, you can sign up on the Canon website by googling “Canon CPS” - their support number is great and should get you sorted out
@@GaryHughesOfficial That is a great idea, they do have support even here in Czech republic. I will definitely give it a shot. Thanks a lot and happy new year!
My issue is the first time I connected it worked but now unfortunately when I get to the WiFi connection part the app doesn't connect with my camera and the WiFi shows no Internet connection....
I know that there are issues when in the range of a mesh network. Like the camera won’t even create the SSID. Any chance it’s that?
What's up w/that mannequin in the back my friend? lol

I can't get anything to pop up for wifi connection no matter what I try. I used to be able to before the last update but since it I haven't been able to connect my phone at all. I've tried deleting everything my phone and camera had saved for connection purposes, both Bluetooth and wifi, but every time I get to where it says ready to connect it displays the connected wifi on the app with my camera but won't let me progress. Any advice? Or do you think it's something to contact Canon about. It's so frustrating because the premise of the app is great, but the execution is atrocious. As a computer scientist, its even more frustrating because I feel like they'd be such easy changes to make too. Anyway pardon the rant. Do you have any advice for that problem?
Unfortunately the latest update has made the app much more buggy. You aren’t the only one having the problem. In fact, I have switched to using Capture 1 for iPad in my daily routing as a replacement for the time being. The good news is that C1 now has an iPad app and an iPhone app that work really well with both wired and wireless tethering. Hopefully, Canon will make an update to CC that will make it more stable.
@Gary Hughes yeah no worries. And thanks for the reply. It's just frustrating that it was working and now isn't. I hadn't had any problems and then they go and update it and BAM! Now it decides it can't find my phone even when I'm connected to the internet. Anyway, I love your content and hopefully all this gets resolved!
I agree, frustrating for sure. Give C1 for iPad a go. Brilliant
Just saw this video, and wonder about the auto download feature. Will that add all shots taken while connected to the attached device? Any videos I've seen focus on single or selected images only, and I'm curious about this feature. Thanks!
Depending on the camera, you can use bluetooth to automatically transfer images as you take them. It's a neat feature in some cases, but it also fills up your device really quick with photos you may not want to use and drains the battery of both the camera and device. I prefer selecting individual images to have on my phone to keep it a little neater.
WiFi doesn’t stay connected is biggest issue . Is there another way to connect canon camera ?
Yes, you can set it up with Bluetooth, but the functionality is slightly different
So many similarities Gary. I also primarily do headshots these days (AnnapolisHeadshots.com), use Canon Camera Connect (mostly to an iPad), and have the M50 as my travel camera! (I use an 18-200 Tamron on it as an "all around" lens.) I used the CamRanger Mini for awhile, but found Canon Connect to be simpler and more reliable.
I agree! I love it when the simplest solution is the best. Thanks for watching!
I was using the Bluetooth connection before I saw this. It was buggy and horrible. Setting up the Wi-Fi connection solved all of my problems with the app
Glad to hear it!
Doesn't the Bluetooth enable the WIFI just by opening the app? That's how it works for me. That way I don't need to do any steps. I just opens up as long as the camera is on.
My experience is that using the Bluetooth isn’t as reliable. If it works for you, that’s great :) thanks for watching
If I remember correctly RAW does not download.
That’s correct as far as I know. I don’t have use for a raw files in the situation as I am only using them to preview the images. I’m going to do a little research and see if they have updated this
The Camera Connect on my iPhone refuses to register my camera (Canon EOS 5D Mark II). It prompts me to "Operate the camera to initiate the connection", but trying to follow the Detailed instructions leads nowhere. "Error description" says "Connection target not found".
Sorry, it's Mark IV of course.
"Connect to this smartphone:" window never appears in the display of my camera (as the screen at 7:25 in the video above).
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I would make sure that the app and your firmware on the camera are up to date. Other than that, I would contact Canon support :)
Why does my phone and camera disconnect after I leave the screen I think
That's not quite enough information to trouble shoot the problem you are having, but if I run into any issues, I just delete the saved devices from the camera menu and start over. Make sure your firmware is up to date on the camera and you have the latest version of the app.
@@GaryHughesOfficial what I have to do is like go through a process off having to re scan the code
Everytime
you shouldn't have to scan the code, all that does is take you to the app I think.
Pleaseeee help I can’t download videos
Everytime it says movie format not
Supported
Not sure on that one. Which camera and what are your video settings? Shooting in C-log?
Thanks for the video. After watching the video I am even more convinced not to shoot photos to a phone or tablet. Don’t people have desktop computers anymore? Why isn’t there an option to send photo to one’s desktop?
There is with Canon EOS utility, Lightroom, Capture 1, or TT Smart Shooter :) I can tell you, though that being able to use this method with CCC and my iPad is very handy for small sessions in the studio
@@GaryHughesOfficial That's good, but now you have to move your photos from the iPad to the desktop, an extra step. Unless you are actually editing them on the iPad?
It does not allow you to record only take live shots which sucks
Which camera? I use it to control video for the RP and the R5 all the time
Canon has thoroughly failed with this app to camera connection. I've tried it many times, many ways, and connection ends up being essentially random. Bluetooth connects with my iPhone, but the app doesn't see it. I can connect the phone to the WiFi network created by the camera, but then the app sees it for a moment. The moment the phone connects to that network, the camera goes to "Connection target not found" and there's no connection. It's as frustrating as can be. Canon products are great, but this app is utterly useless.
The most recent update seems to have some problems it didn’t have before, I’m hoping they will fix it soon
Well...connecting is easy but it doesn't do what I need it to do. I want to use my camera to send all my pictures as I take them to my smartphone. T6i
In order to do that with camera connect you have to use the Bluetooth function. If the T6i is capable of Bluetooth, you should be able to do it. It’s just not the way that I use it. The M50 was the first Canon camera with that capability I think.
To ampersand
The 6D says hello
Umm, hello?
How to go to that green star menu 😅
the favorites menu is in the camera menu by default, but it doesn't have anything in it until you add things to it. It's a customizable menu that you can add different menu items too, depending on what you need.
It’s horrible I’m really upset that I paid well for canon and had it working and suddenly it says first time users must register again. I’m furious
Sorry you’re having trouble. Were you able to get it working?
@@GaryHughesOfficial I haven’t yet. I haven’t had time to get back to it but will try again
Unbelievable.
There is obviously a major flaw in the image transfer part of this app. You should be able to at least give your kids 10 stars.
lol, I know I do!
To. Camers
Consistently every single time. Say that again
Well I don’t work from a script or anything, but I mostly manage not to drool on myself :)
