    What do you think about the process? If you have a way that works for you sound off in the comments, I'd love to know!

    It actually makes sense. I never thought of saying it like that. But that's how I adjust. It makes it easier to adjust the flash to the settings of the camera

    I use colorchecker at almost everything in photography. Can't do without it.

    I do the same basic things when I do photo shoots at the animal shelter. My settings are about the same as yours. I try to eliminate the yukky light at the shelter and use my monolights/strobes. Thanks Gary!!!

    Thanks for the great info. Typical setting in studio: 5600k, F/7.1, 1/200, ISO 160. A few questions: 1. These are in studio settings? Does this give you a black frame if the strobe lights are off? 3. Same setting for location or Are you adjusting to get black frame on location? 4. I know you like the Ad200's for travel. Are they always enough power to cut out (black frame) all the light on location like for event work? 5. Do you ever feel like you could use the Ad 400 on location? Like the 200's work but are getting pushed too hard. 6. What would typical settings for the Ad200's be? 1/2, 1/4,/1/16? ***Some context: I have ad300's and 200's but need another for redundancy but thinking that a 400 might be a good choice although a lot more expensive and less convenient/portable choice. When I shoot in (rented) studio, I love the refresh times of the higher w/s lights. Sometimes refresh rate comes into play for me. Thanks for any and all feedback.

      Well gosh, that requires a novel, but no - I don’t always use the same settings and I try to get as close as possible to a black frame. The AD 200s are almost always up for the job. I can tell you that I own the 400 and it’s brilliant. Hope that helps.

    Thank you so much for this video it helped me a lot! I have a headshot project coming up and this was much needed.
    Question: what would be the optimal settings for the strobes to be in? What would be a proper angle? For context I am going to use the FJ 400, FJ 200 and the eye lighter 3. I had planned to use the FJ 200 to light up the background but I'm not too confident in knowing how to make the background properly lit. Thanks in advance!!!
    P.S: Maybe this could be a good video to do for others

    Hi Gary, excellent video as always. Thank you. My settings are almost exactly like yours. However, I haven’t gotten the knack of using a light meter. I adjust my lights based on the image on my computer screen. Since my set up is usually the same, my light settings are usually the same each time. Do you have a video on using the light meter to adjust the power of the lights?

      No mine isn’t radio capable. I bet Sekonic has some great videos on that subject though :)

    Do you have a video on light modifier setups?

    • @GaryHughesOfficial
      @GaryHughesOfficial  11 місяців тому +1

      Are you looking for something specific to the modifiers I use or the setups I use? Here is a video so you can get an idea about my location headshots. Lots of good BTS and gear ua-cam.com/video/jJmXw6qMiCE/v-deo.html

      nothing specific on that topic, but I am going to be doing a lot of how to and intro videos and that might be a good candidate.
