Never buy, sell or consign a watch to a guy who: 1. Wears a ball cap backwards. 2. Wears a hat indoors. 3. Has tattoos. Etc. Why does anyone have to write this?
Interesting, you'd do your research how long the person was into horology, and in Sydney, who would you trust? Well there's a guy who is a real watch maker who invested a crateload to build watches who has been dealing for yonks, so he's the kind of person you'd deal with. It takes a long time to build reputation, so do some real due diligence, don't be a sheep.
You are absolutely correct 100% Oisin…..And yes, you could tell by this guy‘s appearance…. He’s not a refined person….! Another scam artist…! Don’t ever sell your watches on consignment ever! Good reporting Oisin…5 ✨
Asking for cash for significant amounts is an immediate signal of a bad operation- at the very least they are involved in tax avoidance. It’s also known that expensive watches are used for money laundering and even trafficking. People criticise authorised dealers but they offer security and you don’t have to deal with criminal types out to scam whoever they can. This sort of thing only started happening when some people started regarding watches as investments, which they are not.
As an Aussie who has spent way too much money on watches, most of them from second hand dealers, what were these guys thinking? Did they do no homework before they rushed into this? There are highly reputable dealers in all the capital cities that have been around for a long time and earning very good reputations, I've dealt with a few of them with no drama. These guys were just suckers waiting to be ripped off.
Anyone that get tattoos in place they shouldn't be you know there fucked up people. I got 4 tats if I could go back in time I wouldn't have never got them they make people look trashy.
Hey O'Malley, you may not like everything I have to say here but ever since Roman started filming the trade shows, it has left a semi bitter taste in my mouth; The way they handle these items that we cherish, it is with no emotions, sure they are some what used to dealing day in day out and therefore, they see it as a business. However. the treatment of watches in these shows has lost some value for me in a lot of these dealers. Another big issue for me is when these guys wear watches they have for sale, that is so unethical. So, yea you are right about the watch world full of cow boys. Online journalists have commented about the market being low, it is a correction in my view because prices went from 0-60 in few months with the help of guys who thought they were in the stock market with high frequency trading. I am so happy with the current state. The industry was fostering investors, rather than true enthusiasts, they are part of the problem.
Funny, about 4 yrs ago I emailed Roman to ask a few questions about a watch and mentioned why do you guys treat watches like crap and throw them around....he just said yes you are right but never really answered my question.
@@GregSmith-pb3gh IT really is off putting, it was really nice to see what goes on. I'd rather go into a so called hated AD and buy a watch whenever I can.

These watches are just stock to them, it could be anything else… These trade shows videos are interesting for the banter but the huge mass of these watches gave me nausea. We are led to believe these are rare, exclusive and precious, etc… but in reality not so; there are truckloads of these and these are also sold by the truckload…
Well said. It's remarkable how this sector has evolved since the pandemic. One normally would associate fine Swiss time pieces traded by smart, professional, central Europeans in the manner of a private banker. After Covid, baseball caps, tattoos and vulgarity
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Those "refined types who know about art & wine" can be scammers too, they're just better at it; look at Aurel Bacs and Goldberger, for example. Pretty silly to assume that these people are any more honest, just because they wear a suit and know a fun fact or two about grape juice.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on mamacoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
I am in Dubai. If this guy is genuinely in Dubai then it would not be easier to report him to the local authorities who will do their job. Fast and efficiently. Through friends I know a local who deals with deportation of scammers. The other way to catch that guy is passport renewal as at some point he’ll need it. Yet another easy way to clamp onto someone unless that person goes rogue abroad…

That's a very exclusive Sydney CBD address. No wonder people got hoodwinked with such a High Street location giving them confidence thinking their timepiece can be sold quickly and for a profit by a professional, successful and connected dealer. I agree with our esteemed venetian host Oisin: avoid such geezers. They can often be identified by their heavily tattooed knuckles scraping on the ground behind them and they saunter down the high street, usually dressed in bright Fluro designer garb, often in company with a rotund, short, uncouth and obnoxiously loud man-child screaming into a GoPro.
The people who trusted this dodgey tattooed criminal are absolutely mind blowing. There are many reputable traders in Sydney. I believe this man is either in Bangkok or Dubai
