Should I be thinking of my foot hitting the ground straight down, or with maximum backward speed at the ankle / heel? That is, more like an A Skip or B Skip. When I’ve looked at elite race video, their strides often look more like A’s than B’s to me. I think it’s similar to the question about the optimal relative focus between generating vertical vs horizontal force.
Personally, I would say focus more on the downward force. If you focus on pushing backwards, a lot of times, you end up staying on the ground too long and having too much heel recovery at the back.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🫶🏾
I'm a 42 year old track coach and masters competitor and you gave a great explanation of front side mechanics. Many coaches overcomplicate it
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback 🙏🏾😊
I am running in the Connecticut Senior Games meet on Sunday. Your advice will be in my mind! Thanks.
Oooo.. all the best!🔥🔥
Great video! I’m going to share it with my athletes.
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊

Can I adjust my long-distance running posture?❤
You can but you don't need to be AS high of the ball of your feet and knee lift doesn't need to be AS high...
@@ToremaThompson thank you so much ❤️🤟🤟
slow pace need that front mechanic coach?
Not as much... you don't need as high a knee lift
