Simon Edwards is a frigging genius! I took this lesson and applied it yesterday at the driving range, and I've never hit so good, solid, and long!!! The take away, and especially the grip pressure did it for me. I just never thought about the grip pressure. It's TRUE! When I relaxed, I hit the ball solid! If I tightened up, then crazy stuff happened (my old swing). FINALLY I have something I can practice, to make my swing better! Simon you're amazing! Too bad I live in the US, otherwise I'd sign up with Simon Edwards!!
In my experience as long as he gives you a method of instant feedback then the online lessons could be successful. I am using the alignment sticks and if you stop at the positions you get instant feedback. I am trying to be patient and take half swings or better yet do not use a ball. This way it’s about the swing and not how far or the direction you hit the ball. Mater the swing and everything will fall into place.
No practice, straight onto the tee block this morning, 4.5 metre fade gone, 30mts consistent advantage gained, with Driver and Fairway 3 wood. Easiest and certainly the most effective golf lesson I have watched. Thanks Simon made my day and received a couple of accolades from my Golfmates . Keep presenting these easy to comprehend lesson Liam,.
Simple food for thought .... a lot of unnecessary stuff to be shedded, thanks Simon. Are you an advocate of feet close together to cultivate your correct arm action ? Thanks Mates!
The last 3 years of golf for me have been full of ups and downs... I've watched countless videos, tried countless swing methods and thoughts... they all start well and then something comes off the rails. I tried this technique and it's the most comfortable swing thought I've felt in a long time and to me, comfortable can lead to repeatable. That's what I'm hoping at least. Thanks for sharing this.
Of all the golf videos I've seen over the years, this absolutely makes so much sense it's mad..I'm going to be practicing this. 1 - 2 - 3..easy to see and understand what simon is actually trying to get you to do and how to achieve with his excellent communication. Great video 👍
17:40 at this point Simon articulates what I heard Tiger say about the downswing, I didn't really understand what he was talking about. But Simon just made it simple. Thanks!
Dave the Rave pointed this (raising the handle) out to Liam years ago and he has never been able to stop it because I'm pretty sure Liam has no time for even a minimal amount of practice needed for a swing change but I always like his enthusiasm to make the change. Simon's approach to teaching is spot on.
Great simple lesson. A few years ago I spent a whole winter basically doing the same drill over and over and over. 5 slow motion then one normal swing. That year I played the best golf I’ve ever played. Of course I stopped doing it and my game has slowly gone backwards. Been doing this for last couple of weeks and strike has improved massively. It just takes patience and discipline as the temptation is to want to swing at full speed. Stick with it.
Absolute gem.. everything falls into place with this first move... tried it and the rest is history. I wish someone told me this 10 yrs go .. well never too late 😀😀
For years i have had trouble with my take-away, but now after watching this great simple take-away, i am smooth and hitting the ball so much better. Can't wait to really practice and grove this swing for the rest of my life. Thank you so much Simon, wish i had run into you much sooner.
THANK YOU SIMON & LIAM FOR ANOTHER EXCELLENT LESSON. I HAVE WATCHED IT TWICE & MADE NOTES. I will spend time practising. The best teachers make it as easy & simple as possible to do things. Simon was correct in stating that golfers need to know WHY YOU DO THINGS TO HELP THEM LEARN. Many thanks for great advice.
This is a proper Golf Lesson!!! Old school combined with simplicity ... works all the time! I love Simon's tipps, they go in line with my old school coach, but his give more visual feedback. Liam, keep these coming, he is such a great guy!
I wanted to drop you a note Simon to tell you that your one move take away has got me into the semi finals of my club championship. It’s improved my game beyond belief . You’re a legend! Thank you 🙏
These videos with Simon are fantastic. The drills are easy to follow and not complicated. I've tried all sorts of moves over the years to get a good ball strike but this series is the best. Off to the range to try this out.
I loved the Retriever that popped out of the brush at about the 1/3 point of the video, ran off screen to the left, the ran back into frame, heading right.
Liam, I think you should also lose the “double” ground hit that you do with the club head on the ground before you start your swing! With the driver you actually thump the ground. What does your coach say about “hand press” as your new trigger movement. Loved this video btw!
This is a great video I like this coach Simon , very simplistic way of putting it all he’s got a great passion for the game . I’m going to implement this drill with the sticks over and under the stick to get the draw . Because that what he’s showing you here is the holy grail of golf . Most people including myself have a fade or straight at best . I need to master this like a Jedi 😃🤙
Simon /Lee. Only discovered Golf Mates a couple of weeks ago. You are a breath of fresh air in your presentation. The drill feeling club head weight has amazed me. Consistently that I never new i had. This swing lesson looks amazing. Having watched hundreds of videos I can safely say that I take more from one lesson than any other gimmicks on you tube. Hope you continue with this very simple format. 11 out of 10. 73 years young playing for 50 years,15 hcap. Just proves you never stop learning. Can I describe your presentation as, Fun with loads more fun thrown in
I’ve watched this video a hundred times, it’s the best coaching video on UA-cam, but did the golden retriever mess anybody else’s head up? Thought it was the matrix
Where is Simon based i need a lesson off him I'm in Manchester hopefully not too far . I've watched thousands of UA-cam videos think I'm on to something then bang always back to over the top swing impossible to hit long irons I've snapped my driver over my knee I'm that fed up 😂 I've spent hundreds on lessons and I'm still useless!! The crazy thing is when I do hit a good shot my 7 iron goes 200 yards . This golf lark is the most addictive thing I've ever got into 😂😂 It gets me so mad but at the same time I love it lol . Great channel by the way mate 👍
That is a great one. I’ve been doing this when Danny Maude made it so simple too, he got rid of my shank I had for years 👍👍. However it is hard to keep it going without the practice, and sometimes the doubt kicks in again 😂
Just wanted to say I've played two rounds with this technique now, plus a few indoor trackman sim rounds, and I've never hit the ball so well or consistently. Mind is blown! Thanks Simon, legend😊
Absolutely the best of the best coaching with ultimate simplicity! The mechanics are the same. But he tells us the simplest way to make all the components to work! It is always the lead arm!!!
What a great drill to practice and such a simple explanation. Agree, Simon is way too modest. All great coaches keep it simple. Taking this set-up to the range this winter.
Great stuff Simon. All most of us ams want; is a reasonable game of golf. We are not all trying to be pros. So many golf coaches are trying to get us to do moves that only elite golfers can do repeatably.
I love the simplicity of this swing. I've been thinking too much the last couple of years. This year I've been thinking of simplifying my swing. And this is exactly where I was trying to go. Just simply 1-2-3, start with a push with the Left arm, relaxed against the chest. Over then under to the ball. Stay balanced and the weight shift will come naturally.
I've tried dozens of golf tips and swings... Was having success with Saguto golf but no consistency and lack of distance with driver..... Tried this video technique at the range and felt something effortless and inspiring to continue playing!! I'm going to try this with winter golf and hopefully I can then improve my 19.5 handicap.....
Around 2009 my boss, Jeremy Haigh a South African Pro, pointed out I was a Hitter of the ball as opposed to a Swinger. This was new to me. There're 2 types of golf swing. 1. Swinger 2. Hitter Rory is an example of a Swinger. Liam tends towards being a Swinger. This lesson is aimed at helping Liam be more of a hitter. Old School 🏫 ⛳️🤘👏
Hi, came across this today, it resonated with me and made me think of how I swung a club when I was playing really well. I took it onto the course and I was back to how I moved the club in my twenties. It is a fabulous lesson. Btw, I still play off six but this is gold. Many thanks.
Went to the range yesterday, played today. Worked really well! So simple. Being loose and relaxed really helps. My golf mate was impressed. Commented a few times on my shots.
I’ve watched two videos with Simon and you and each resulted in an epiphany for me as I try to exhume my game from my youth to my now 75 year body- the golf grip pressure and recent takeaway and inside release lessons have completely changed my ball striking- I am amazed by the consistency of center strikes I now get! Thank you golf mates for bringing Simon on to impart his wisdom and delivery method that golfers can understand.
Fantastic lesson, what I also note when just trying this is that as I let the left arm come back down across my chest, this movement makes me transfer my weight and load my lead side causing a bump of my hips towards the target. No forcing of the hips needed. 👍
Yesterday when the sun was out l went to the driving to test out Simon golf swing, IT WORKED SO WELL. Many thanks for the training video clip. Richard ,
Iv been doing that for years with the left arm. Seen a video of pádraig Harrington years ago and iv been doing it ever since. Made such a difference. I either hit it straight or draw left. Mostly straight.
Best explanation of take away I’ve ever heard. No mention of rotation, I’m in Melbourne Australia, if I was in the UK I’d be off to see Simon! Every golf mate will see those hands lifted if they do! Good luck Liam
Liam, new to channel. Love watching the mates play. I have noticed your difference in play in the last videos, as I’ve done trying to improve. Today’s lesson with Simon was a real eye opener.
I've put the push first movement into my swing and it's near enough fixed my slice and now I'm actually getting a draw on my shots. I've even won my society day for the first time in 3 seasons being with them. Keep up the great videos Liam 👍🏻👍🏻
I went to see Simon, and leant more in 1 hour than i did in 30 lessons with another pro!!! and i only hit about 10 balls, Thanks Again Simon, i still need to come and see you with my golfmate, cos he needs you!!
Great lesson. This is my second viewing and have yet to shoot anything worse than 7 over since implementing. Finally got my feel back after being lost for a couple years! Thanks Liam and Simon 🤙🏼
I put these simple moves/principles in action the day after I first watched this video. Tomorrow I am playing golf and intend to do the same. I am prepared to say that this is the single best instruction video (as in effective and practicable) that I have ever seen.
Bloody hell,1st time dispite several lessons I've FINALLY been shown what arm (lead) does, when I've been taught both arms because i wasnt told differently,i will definitely try this over the weekend.HUGE thanks for this tutorial.Keep them coming Liam.
I’m not big on going range and practicing I’ll hold my hands up to that but after watching that lesson I’m going range tomorrow. So many coaching videos that fill my head with too much information, this seems so simplistic it’s got to be worth having a crack at 🤞🏻thanks for sharing Liam 👏🏻👏🏻
Yeah man you gotta stay away from those videos lol! Find that natural swing that you have and then fine tune it. Golf swing isn't universal, but what is, is grip, posture, and alignment.

In the same way, the trail upper arm should be the driving force of the forward part of the swing. Consciously use the upper trail arm; you won't believe the power generated and the ease with which you square the clubface. Thank you Simon.
Finally, a lesson that makes the swing natural, consistent and understandable. Best 15 minutes of my golf life!

Like that feel of it sliding down your chest for the downswing. Very good

Undoubtedly a simple uncomplicated version of the golf swing explained by a very humble and likeable man!
Thank you kindly 👏👏👏
Loving Simons coaching style “the why” is so important.
Will be doing this drill for certain. Once I fix my weight transfer.
Best golf instruction videos on UA-cam thanks Simon.

Another great tip from Simon Liam 👏
Excellent break down and explanation - perfect
How good was that lesson. Making it really simple and easy to understand. Brilliant video. Thanks
Wish we had a Simon Edwards in Australia absolute genius ❤
I put these simple moves/principles in action the day after I first watched this video. Tomorrow I am playing golf and intend to do the same. I am prepared to say that this is the single best instruction video (as in effective and practicable) that I have ever seen.
Absolutely love this. Great addition to the channel.
Great advice in the simplest way for people who don't have time for complicating matters.brilliant thanks very much appreciated
Bloody hell,1st time dispite several lessons I've FINALLY been shown what arm (lead) does, when I've been taught both arms because i wasnt told differently,i will definitely try this over the weekend.HUGE thanks for this tutorial.Keep them coming Liam.

Yeah man you gotta stay away from those videos lol! Find that natural swing that you have and then fine tune it. Golf swing isn't universal, but what is, is grip, posture, and alignment.
Thanks, simple explanation of the golf swing. Should be repeatable for the average golf. Enjoy your Golf.
Doing this drill has increaed my distance, straightened my ball direction and helped my swing path. As long as you remember grip
Pressure 1,3,5 and relax BOOM
Thank you
So Simple, it has to be easy,? Now I have to learn the drill, practice, practice and lots more practice. The best part is, when it's mastered, I will be a better player. Winter will become spring and I will be swinging the new way. Thank you Simon for the lesson and thank you Liam for sharing it with the "Golf Mates".
Good video to follow.👍
What angle is the swing plate set to.
A simple swing becomes a reliable swing, GREAT Video.
This could be could be the single greatest golf lesson on UA-cam, ever.......
Great swing approach. Thanks for the video Liam and Simon.
Best lesson that you could have taken! This is the future of your golf swing and you now have a plan get better.Time to get your handicap down further.
Absolutely I agree
Watched this video on tuesday after shanking 2 buckets of balls at the range.
Practiced these moves indoors for the last few days, hit the range this morning and been hitting it so much better, still work to do but this really has saved my game.
Thank you
Keep at it peter
Using the lead upper arm to take the club away does so many good things. It helps keep you from rolling your weight to the outside of the trail foot. In the same way, the trail upper arm should be the driving force of the forward part of the swing. Consciously use the upper trail arm; you won't believe the power generated and the ease with which you square the clubface. Thank you Simon.
Brilliant video, with a brilliant coach.
