It all looks so simple, until I give it a try ! But try I will, as the explanation at the end of the "swing first, turn last" is something I never saw anywhere else, and the demo on the chair just made sense to me. Great vid.

I am an expert at watching golf coaching videos. I recon Simon is an awesome coach - he hit lots of the points I've found to work (especially ball position and the position of the club at downswing parallel - these are just so important). Awesome.

"Swing first and turn second in response". This excellent info on the arm swing consigns a lot of rubbish to the bin. Peter Thomson and John Jacobs would give Simon the nod. Thanks heaps for the simple terms that help us

Wonderful description of the Ernest Jones method of swing the club and the body follows naturally, it has no choice if you're swinging freely.
Some people make instruction complicated, Simon does the complete opposite and yet we're left more knowledgeable because of it.

Swing first, and turn 2nd. Is an excellent point Simon. I try to keep my back to the target as long as possible. This stops over the top move, as spinning out. Hope my golf mates are listening to this. It works for me…

@@GolfMates No problem guys. On the range I see some golfmates struggling. Another thing I’ve found that has helped me and others is to pull my back foot back on setup. This closes my stance some, promotes an in to out swing, that produces a draw. I find that I’m able to get more extension through the ball. I also want my trail arm underneath my lead arm. Sort of like skipping a rock across a pond. Most golfers that slice the ball are doing the opposite. They swing over the top, across the ball, more out to in… I hit a fade by pulling my lead foot back. Golf is pretty simple for me. Most golfers make it harder than it should be…

I've been playing about 18 months now and feel like I'm getting no where.. just about breaking 100 when I play (once a week) i think it's due to having so many hints and tips flying around my brain when I address ball... what are the 3 main things I should be thinking when addressing the ball.... thanks golf mates

Love Simon. Still I prefer the setup tip as referring to the lead armpit instead of heel. When I first started to drill myself on hitting upwards, I positioned it at the heel, but since my stance is not very wide, I was still having a far to large in-to-out angle at that point. Only when I realized that, and got the ball to the lead big toe, my overdraws started to straighten out.

You're going to make me try this with driver and then see what I can do to incorporate the speed part with irons and hybrids. This 5' tall guy 58 year old guy with 93mph max driver clubhead speed has always believed his speed came from more of a shoulder turn.
