I noticed this too. What M&N should do is call their current "swingman" a replica for $115, make the real swingmans of the quality we know $180, and have their Authentics at the regular $300. A tier for everyone.

You’d think it would be cheaper but they jack up the prices and lower the quality, same with Nike when they took over the licensing for the modern jerseys.
I just purchased a Vince Carter 1999-2000 swingman purple jersey last week and everything how you described it was right on target! Now, contemplating about returning it. However, I do own an Authentic white MJ jersey 1997-1998 and noticed a huge difference between that and the Swingman! This video was great 👍 Very informative 👏

Great video bro, I definitely feel you on bring disappointed with M&N Swingman jerseys.
I buy swingmans because its the most common jersey we can purchase in New Zealand; and the NZD to USD can be real crazy unless we wait for the Black Friday sales or Father Day sales etc; and sometimes we have to hope jerseys I like go on sale or available because some times it isn't.
I remember in KOTB fb page someone brought up the M&N swingman jerseys and I rushed down to my store to ensure it wasn't true! At that time, we still had the single stich tackle twill to my relief.
However two months ago, my store atarted selling the same seingman jersey style you shared I was so guttered. But, I am relieved that I managed to get at least two swingman jerseys that are single stitch tackle twilled. A Lakers Away Magic Johnson jersey and a Hornets Away Larry Johnson jersey.
At that same time as well the Nike Swingman jerseys were closeby and when I compared the two, I felt like M&N were copying the Nike NBA Swingman jersey style because their stuff is printed on similar to what you shared.
At the end of the day, I appreciate your review and especially the extra editing work put in as well. Thanks for another video Rez.

Unfortunately, I never owned any of the first gen swingmans from m&n so I cannot confirm.
However, I did notice the swingmans currently from m&n are very smaller than the older swingman jerseys from Reebok, Adidas, Etc. I would compare these to current Nike Swingmans.

The newer authentics tend to run smaller than the older run Mitchell & ness authentics in my opinion. The authentics in general though, replicate more of a larger fit typically
I have 3 Utah Jazz M&N swingman jerseys. 2 from Karl Malone (both from 2019) and 1 from Adrian Dantley (2018). Dantley one was still with stitches. Dope. The ones from 2019 no stitches.
Yeah M&N swingmans weren’t bad in the beginning. That is, until later when they discontinued the single layer of stitching and overall quality on their swingman line 😞

I recenetly ordered a Tim Duncan swingman from the official store but when I got it it was missing the latter N on the back. Returned it back and got a huge discount on another jeresey. And yes,the size was also off.

I’m not too sure. From what I noticed. The older M&N’s run completely different from the newer models. The cut’s of the jersey just fit much more like today’s Nike standards.
I got my first jersey M&N (96-97 pinstripe Jordan) off eBay, ik it is legit but I’m glad I got it authentic. The swing man may seem like a good option at first, but getting superior quality for a higher price is unmatched. I’m just happy they don’t cheap out on the authentics!
Unfortunately, they have cut Quality on “ Authentic “ versions too. Some are not trimmed slim enough, on neck collars, armpit / arm hole openings, etc..

@@jesse3180Yes, on some of the road jerseys, they went with a lighter purple shade, than what Kobe actually wore.
Also, for many of the home and road jerseys, Mitchell & Ness has been inverting the double layering, of placing the white twill, under the yellow part, on the road jerseys, when it should be the other way around (yellow background, in back of white letters and numbers, with each colored text stitched onto the jersey).
Often, they are only stitching the one layer, in the background, onto the jersey (yellow font stitched on the road jersey, when it should be both yellow and white sections, of letters and numbers, both stitched on the cloth).
The double stitching is there, but not accurate anymore, so they'll only have one of the colored depths, of the names, numbers, logos, pictures, etc., sewn on the fabric of the jersey, as opposed to each layering, having threads sewed on the actual shirt.
Bro please help me out I bought a Lebron James Swingman 08-09 Jersey Navy but it was off ebay for 130 but the patch has two stars next to the ball where it says HARDWOOD CLASSICS but I checked on mitchell and ness the same jersey doesn't have the two stars
The Mitchell & Ness and Adidas / Reebok Swingmans have subtle differences from each other. I would look online to confirm the differences!
I'm so glad you called out this BS. The no-stitch, faux-stitch is such a weak move by M&N and Nike. It's a dirty, cost-cutting device. Consumers cannot allow these companies to keep dropping the bar on quality.

Hey man nice review. I just acquired the LBJ swingman jersey from the 2003 Cavs in red. I would add that i also find the fabric a bit flimsy. Like quite light. Do you also have this impression? It's nice but I think you have to be extra careful. I think that this type of jerseys washes very delicately in cold water.
Generally swingman material I.e. mesh, fabrics are lighter than authentics. Though, the older Reebok swingmans are much more durable than the current swingmans produced by Nike and M&N!
As with every piece of clothing, you should be cautious, but with swingmans you must heighten your caution ⚠️

Back then atleast when u would get a swingman jersey from any brand adidas, nike, reebok, M&N it was single stitched and u felt like u were getting your moneys worth atleast. @@dwightyawg7781 It depends on the reproduction. If you’re mentioning the jersey, with a dinosaur picture, the animal is screened on, or pressed on, one of those two methods, for the “ authentic “ model. Some swingmans would have the dinosaur single stitched on.

What's the difference if it's glued on, or single stitched on the edge of the applique, if it's made out of vinyl anyway? That's what ruins swingmans, thick, hot, warping letters and numbers made of vinyl.
If it’s stitched, the likely hood of it peeling is a lot less likely than if it was heat applied with the glue. Even if it is stitched, you still run the risk of the vinyl getting damaged in the machine, which is why I recommend all around hand washing or dry cleaning all swingmans
Yess! Thank you for pointing this out. All the new M&N Swingmans are trash af and still cost a lot. You can probably sew the edges but the NBA logo isn’t even a heat pressed patch. Shit is flimsy af.

Even with stitching, the swingman HWC are no bueno for me unless they're way under retail. It's not about being boujee, the swingmans aren't worth $100+ for a few uses. The printed tackle twill is too weak, the ink starts chipping away after a few washes. I'd rather buy 1 authentic than 2-3 swingmans.
Very true! The best swingmans to buy are the solid single stitching numbers/letters I.E. (Classic Celtics, 90s Rockets, etc.)
I’m disappointed with Mitchell&Ness swingmans as well... goes back to the old saying, you get what you pay for. That’s why I only buy MNs authentic line. The fit is way better with authentic‘s to, your right about that as well.

Yeah, I totally feel you. I liked the idea of Mitchell and Ness doing throwbacks because adidas did a horrible job. But I got disappointed after my swingman Magic shorts got ruined after only few washes. The star on the side got peeled off. Looks so cheaply made. And I didn't even dry it in the dryer.
Man, that’s so unfortunate considering how much they charge for them! The Golden Standard for Mitchell & Ness has drastically decreased since when I started collecting back in 06!

Not sure on the exact date, but they changed it after the first generation that you have. No swingmans that m&n currently produce today have stitched numbers/letters

Think imma make a vid on this topic. I was talking about it in one of my groups. M&N got us by the balls, they literally are the only company producing retro sports apparel today. So when you own they market you can produce whatever quality you want and price it how you see fit. I copped the Kobe and AI anniversary authentic. Got rid of both of them because they are made totally different from the older ones. So it's not just swingmans, but how they did that line is terrible because I think its their biggest money maker today. The spit in the face was the NBA logo. Hell replicas and bootlegs even stitch that and they wayyyyy cheaper. If you going to cheapen the quality you need to cheapen the retail. But, again, if you own the market you not gonna care how we feel until your sells drop smh🤦♂️

The quality is nowhere near what it was compared to their stuff from the 2000 eras. Because they’re the only one in the market making sports apparel for major leagues right now, they pretty much can do whatever they want and get away with it.

M&N straight up tripping with these Gen 2 swingmans. I just copped a Rodman one as it was on sale and the quality is trash. My only thinking is that the colour on the single stitch Gen 1 swingmans used to fade and wash out so they've switched it up but they should have improved their single twill techniques rather than moving to heat press - I assume this is a cost saving exercise so they taking the p*ss raising the price on top of that. They do also run smaller than the Gen 1 swingmans.
This is very true. It’s unfortunate that Mitchell & Ness (known for their quality craftsmanship) have resorted to this poor attempt of what they call their “swingman” line. I would rather just save a little more and go for the authentics if they’re going to continue making them like this. Thanks for your input!

I still have alot of M&N jerseys from say 2007 and I haven't bought any since because I was on a buying blitz 11 years ago but I've because of now 2020 and I have alot tbh!! I never ever imagined that M&N would drop the ball on their stuff?! I mean that's the reason why we buy M&N a franchise you could once really rely on (if you have the $$$) but it sadly looks not the case anymore as they're just as bad as the usual mainstream and they cost even more now. Just save your money and go the op shop blitz and hope for the best and the thrill of the hunt?! Heads up for the video btw....

It's still no excuse though as there were some jerseys from the early 1980's to the mid 90's that had pressed on numbers and tags and they could last if you took care them as well...It's just all crap now sigh..

Just buy fake. The fake jersey has come a long way with the stitching and overall quality for less then half the cost of a jersey from retail and unless you walking around with your jersey inside out. Nobody will ever notice. I got real and fake and nobody knows but me. Even when I sell my fake jersey I just lessen the price of it a few bucks. Haven’t had any problem selling them

Depends on how you like to style your fits tbh!
If you like the “baggier” / “roomier” fit I would go a size up from the current M&N stuff! Possibly a large/44 for you
If you like the fitted look, I would go for a medium/40 but the length may be a little too short. I’ve learned that these newer m&n runs seems to run a lot smaller than the older/traditional m&n stuff I was used to seeing.
At the end of the day, it depends on your preference! Hope this info helps your decision!

Personally, even if they were 75% I would not spend the money. they don’t last very long compared to the authentics.

in the 90s when nba jerseys were made by champion, the authentics were mostly all heat pressed prints and replicas( swingmans of the day) were stitched or embroided... it made the jerseys heavier and was not favored back then. So looking at your video.... things have changed.

Just got into buying nba jerseys I mostley buy nhl. But heat pressed makes me so angry. I paid 170$ can for a james 08-09 alternate cavs jersey and the wording is peeling! I legit don't have 400$ to drop on authentics. Makes me angry becuase idk if i will buy anymore NBA
The authentics today are nowhere near the older stuff, but they are 1000% better than current day swingmans. You can also find good deals on authentics for the price of swingman retail or possible cheaper! Just need to be patient

You must have been new to collecting the swingman jerseys… because now since about 2015ish they have ALL been heat pressed on since adidas started it on their 3rd gen swingmans and then I guess Mitchell and ness just copied that and started heat pressing them on their swingmans…. Either way I agree with u man.. they are cheap quality and will eventually fade off color on the logos in the wash…. The authentics are definitely the way to go for quality wise…. But I would wear a swingman only in my favorite team if I was gonna buy one
I wasn’t collecting jerseys or swingmans for about 10 years until much later haha. Before I got back into collecting, m&n did not have a swingman line so it was awhile haha. But yes newer swingmans from m&n and Nike are no bueno

i bought the 2.0 version of the white Larry Bird Celtics jersey and i am utterly disappointed. It feels kind of cheap, the prints just don't cut it and the fabric is raw. I will send it back.
Personally, I think you’re making the right choice by returning it! The newer m&n swingmans are not the way to go 😫🤦♂️ better to just pay that extra premium to get an authentic imo!

M&N is trash lately. They basically combine the screen print of a $40 Champion jersey with the mesh of a $60 Nike swingman for $130. Not even worth it.
I will never buy any m&n swingmans again as long as they continue to make them the way they do.

I got mine swingman Duncan same color as his about 3 or 4 yrs ago and the numbers and logo is stitched on not heat pressed like his Duncan swing man jersey cause my looks like the authentic except for the polyester double thickness but I guess Mitchell and Ness trying to save money by heat pressing the numbers and logos and since there doing that there swingman jerseys should be 30 dollars cheaper but it's not so the customer is getting played cause there going the way of Nike swingman bs which isint good cause nikes jerseys are made from the cheap shit recycled polyester bs which makes there jerseys flimsy looking and cheap quality, then Nike overchargers for that bs we don't need overcharged cheap shit jerseys when there be way over charging for Jordan's.

Bubbling can happen easily by the washing of the jersey. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fake.
Hence, why I encourage people to dry clean their jerseys rather than throwing them in the washer
