This was the first NBA Finals broadcast in HD, that’s why it looks so good.
I thought the first one was the 2001 finals with the 6ers v Lakers
quality looks better than 2004 finals footage lol
Was this video record LIVE? or it was record in recent years?
HD in 2003?
@@christiananasco8937 Until...
David Robinsons send off, how fitting for such a legend.
He was already trash at that point. He was avg. like 8pts lol
@@cheldosarmiento2733 he was literally retiring .... what do you expect his former mvp self ? He gave them good defense and minutes when he was on the court.
Good D-fence? When lol took them 6 games to beat the weak nets.. 🗑
@@cheldosarmiento2733 so weak they were in the finals ? A win is a win . They dont choose opponents. How many rings are won in 4 or 5 games?
@@cheldosarmiento2733 He was still a monster on defense. In that series between him and Duncan I've never seen the paint denied that hard
The quality for this is spectacular!
Duncan , that calm player was not given his due, I consider him one of the greatest NBA defenders ever
He was anything but calm. The man was aggressive as hell. And his team followed his lead. Stop it 🛑 ✋️. Duncan always had help.
@@younglove3362best power forward of all time
Back in the day when fans complained about players could only dunk, couldn't shoot, no fundamentals, and the game was slow. Now we complain about players can only shoot and do fancy stuff with the ball, and remember these mid 2000s finals like they were actually entertaining to watch.
Moral of the story: fans always bitching
I agree (I’m a Spurs fan) but the ratings said otherwise. It actually set the record at the time for, lowest rated NBA finals
Tim Duncan is a monster as usual
Duncan was a force
It was actually a quadruple double for Duncan. It's a scandal that the NBA still hasn't amended the record.
It wasnt
@@cheldosarmiento2733 Shut up, troll.
Yea very strange.
@@cheldosarmiento2733 yeah it was dipshit. If you don't know what your talking about stfu.
@@cheldosarmiento2733 it was.
Man, I was 12 going on 13 watching this series. Huge Nets fan. I was devastated. If we had a center who could have scored instead of Collins, I think we cooks have won. But, the Spurs were incredibly talented. Good series!
It was two dominant big men.the nets didn't have a legitimate frontline.at least they almost forced a GM 7.and I ma tell you what the nets would had a shot to win in a GM 7.
do you think the nets would've won if they had Vince in 03?
@@thale2422 Absolutely, their problem was they had nobody who could create their own offense reliably. Their offense just stalled in any half court set.
I was 10...it was a heartbreaker to see them shit the bed in this game but at least they won a couple games. Against the Lakers they got swept lol.
Nets put up a good fight in that series and dikembe was a X factor playing good defense despite his age. I think if he played more they would’ve contained Duncan but Jackson, claxton and manu went off and there was no way stopping him when Duncan got doubled.
The Fact these Nets made it to back to back finals is impressive. Unfortunately the Lakers and Spurs were too much for them
When you look at the Eastef roster, no it's not. The Nets weren't even the Spurs biggest challenge.
yeah i remember that times...when u have west , u were already champion.
Too much double team on duncan
Ya that was a good match up. Spurs blow tho
The east was a weak conference. The Nets were not beating (1)Lakers (2)Spurs (3) Kings or (4) Mavericks(5) Timberwolves in the finals.
I was born on this day. Finally, I see footage of this special game.
This was probably the least watched finals in the last 30 years.. 2 small market teams.. it was a great series though.
Until This Year Two Even More Small Market Teams Suns Vs Hawks/Bucks
@@jakebutler8481 yeah especially since the Clippers lost. Only true NBA fans will watch this finals. I just hope both teams are healthy
Is NJ really a small market?
@@arturbondarenco2155 NJ was a small market, now that they are in Brooklynn, they are tied for the biggest market. Just because they are considered the same market as the Knicks. When they do rankings the Knicks and Nets are always in the “same” market, but yeah back in the early 2000’s they were bottom 5
@@jakebutler8481 now that the finals is over, actually last years finals between the heat and lakers was the least watched finals of all time 😂 it was probably due to the politics that was involved. Games 1-2-3 are the least watched final games since 1974. They are the least watched 3 games. The bucks suns had more viewers
Back when defense was still allowed.
They pulled the plug after that 04-05 Finals series.
Sir just a question in what year again when the NBA turned soft favor of HIGH RANK TEAMS in fan base. Is it actually 2010 the last time physical is valid ?
@@garland9476 after 2011..
still I see tons of wide open 3
today's teams would average 130 against those so called "tough defense"
@@チーズボール-e6f lol cupcakes saying cupcakes are better. Today's NBA is weak
@@チーズボール-e6f not with the rules in the 90s -00s. They would crowd them at the 3 point line.
Amazing quality!
The controversial quadruple double for Timmy
Count it!
Imagine if Vince Carter was with the Nets in that finals.
If Vince Carter was with the Nets, they wouldn't be in the finals lol.
Wouldn't have made a difference. Nets lost both the 02 & 03 finals because they had no true big man to compete with the monsters LA & SA had. Their backcourt was more than good enough, they needed big men.
Vince was great but not sure he tips the scales. He settled too much and the Spurs in 03 had 3 really good if not elite defenders at the guard/wing (Stephen Jackson, Ginobili, Bruce Bowen). Remember, this was the Spurs team that dethroned Shaq and Kobe effectively ending that dynasty.
@@RandomGuy285 well said dude, they should have a good but strong big man in the middle to battle out the Spurs' big and talented frontcourt.....
I don't think Vince would have made a difference because he had never beat the spurs in a nets uniform
David Robertson' last finals appearance. Tim Duncan chance for a quadrupled-double has been Denied by the referees.
Robertson? Bruh
HAHAHA
Robinson
Kmart should’ve named his son after Duncan after what he was doing to him this series
Cant believe the Nets lost that game 5 at home and then this game 6. I really thought that the Nets matched up so well against the Spurs.
What are you, a Gen Z? No matter how good Kidd was, he wasn't beating the Lakers or Spurs 🙄
@@younglove3362 Not the Lakers because no one was stopping Shaq. But I really thought they had the Spurs.
@@hmhm856 Makes sense, as the previous year they got swept but this one went to six.
So yeah the Spurs were a bit less of a challenge but they still weren’t enough.
Almost 20 years smh. Time flies
Here from All The Smoke podcast interviewing Kenyon Martin. He talked abt Tim Duncan and this series
Those were the days!
Look at these physical play under the basket! You will never see that again
Villain of the NBA San Antonio Spurs
Great series. Go Spurs Go!
The nets had a good run playing in the finals back to back it was just unfortunate that they had to go through the lakers shaq n kobe and spurs Duncan n Parker
J-Rich Doesn't age.
HD in 2003. Damn
Damm my spurs had a good run 🥹😓 #GoSpursGo
Damn stak was right they did replace Tony Parker with clakton for most of the game 😂
As a Jason Kidd fan, this was grueling to watch.
At least he got one with Dallas.
A triple double in a NBA finals is just Legendary
Real basketball
title is wrong. you missed the 10 blocks he had. should probably add the quadruple double part
I didn’t know R2-D2 was in the crowd 9:30
Wow i had no idea the nets were in control until that 19-0 run
Bro the spacing was so different!
Stephen Jackson must have had the easiest night shooting those 3s. Those were the good old days for the Spurs. I think my favorite one is Duncans last finals game.
03:26 the two towers
really not fair man
@@mhhmmhhm3301 I watched the stream. I still remember how many times K. martin got blocked by two towers.
And K. martin was the best PF in east coast during that day. I just miss old NBA.
2:47 is 3 points !
Back when buckets were earned and not given and there was pride in defense.
So the block at :40 if you watch at .25 speed, it looks to me like David Robinson changes the direction of the shot first and then Tim Duncan gets a piece. It's not obvious enough for me to be certain but I think Robinson actually should have been credited with that block. So even if Tim had 2 blocks that weren't credited I'm at peace with him not officially having a quadruple-double.
It's not even his best game of the series anyway:
G1- 32 pts, 20 reb, 6 ast, 7 blk, 3 stl, 1 to, 11-17 FG
G6- 21 pts, 20 reb, 10 ast, 8 blk, 0 stl, 4 to, 9-19 FG
I think David Retired after this.
Nets should’ve started Mutumbo with Kenyon Martin. Also Manu Ginobli should’ve been starting over Bowen
Nets were outmatched in both their Finals appearances.
I hope to see them win a championship in this lifetime.
Almost in 2021 sadly didnt
Same man, i hope we get a ring someday, even if its only 1 , i hope this young team can do it in the future
If this nets team stayed together a bit longer, and possibly got Vince Carter to come on the team with Kenyan Martin there, they would've dominated the east a lot longer and might have won a championship.
NOPE!!!
Agree they would be a force in the east competing against Indiana and pistons the top two team at that time
Stack5 the man
Nets folded like a tent in the 4th 😂
Dumbass Scott rested key starters down the stretch😂😂
Never realized that this was a close series.
Probably because you didn't watch knowing what the results were going to be.
@@younglove3362not really
@@nittygrittywithcarlton2203
Not really what?
ever since the local abc station in nyc cut its hd signal in half to make room for subs in 2009 the quality became worse.
could've been a 2002 finals rematch between the lakers vs nets... lakers 4peat chances went down when they lost game 5 in that wcf. mannnn
Greatest conspiracy in basketball history. Tim Duncan is the only player in history to ever get a quadruple double in the playoffs. It’s a crime that they go back and correct records, but hasn’t corrected the greatest accomplishment by any player in history. I understand now why they omitted this. With 5 rings in 6 title appearances, 15 all star selections in 19 years, 15 all defensive selection, 15 all NBA selection, 3 Finals MVPs, back to back season MVPs, 3 championships in 5 years, a championship in three different decades, championships throughout his entire career, was the best power forward to ever play the game, was the best defender ever in basketball, still has the block and rebounds record in college, and the only player in history to score a quadruple double on the biggest stage ever. That kills Lebron’s argument about being the closest in the GOAT conversation to MJ, Duncan is second, definitely puts him ahead of Kobe especially since he put an end to the Lakers dynasty before finishing off these Nets
Stop it Duncan is not ahead of Kobe lol kobe's beaten Duncan more times and remember that ass whooping in 2001 ? I agree with you though I think Duncan is better than lbj and I put Duncan 7-8 all time
Mj Kobe Kareem wilt magic bird Duncan lbj Shaq hakeem .
@@diegochavez6203 you are sadly mistaken if you think Kobe beat Duncan more times. Every championship except 2014 Duncan had to go through LA. Kobe’s last two didn’t involve the Spurs, his 2000 victory was because Duncan was injured and they never played that year so that’s only two Kobe got directly on Duncan so that’s 4 to 2 for Duncan. Duncan has a ring in three different decades while being the best player on his team the entire time. Kobe had to become the best player on his team without any expectation when he first came into the league. Duncan had the monkey of being the number one draft pick to deal with and proved that he deserved being first his entire career, but there are plenty of years in Kobe’s career where all he was doing was stat packing, but Duncan and the Spurs were relevant every single year of Duncan’s career and no one else outside of Bill Russell can say that, especially Kobe. But just for kicks how many times have Kobe only led Lakers went to the Finals, never. When did the Duncan only led Spurs went to the Finals, six times. The first two were with David Robinson as his Robin and Tony Parker as the second highest scorer on the team at 15 points a game, and the last three he won with dudes that the entire team besides Duncan had two all NBA selections and five all star appearances for their entire career, but Kobe got his rings with Shaq, Horry, Fischer, Fox, Rice, Gasol, and Bynum, some of the best talent in basketball at their time and even an aging TD who points were about the same his entire career has dueled with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green’s Warriors, Lebron and D Wade’s Heat, OKC with Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka. The only thing that Kobe can hold a trophy up about is points, but then what does that matter if Duncan can still beat the brakes off of you while being the best scorer on his team and average ten less points a game than you
@@diegochavez6203 It’s way more reasonable to put Duncan above Kobe than above Lebron.
K mart was mad beast then
Jefferson dunk was pretty dope
I’m honestly shocked this finals went 6 games
to be honest guys, talking about ordinary players, nowadays average players' basics are obviously better/improved. Stars will be stars in whatever era, but average players are improving no doubt about it.
Yeooo wtf how did you get a 2003 nba video in this quality??
Speedy was low keys was a solid back up.
Paano naging HD yan kasi hindi pa uso ang High Defitination noong 2000s, tanging 2010s lang ay uso na
Love how nba tv cut out the pregame with Former ABA greats Julius Dr. J Erving and the Iceman George Gervin as they came in with a Red, White and Blue Basketball. The brown ball league still hates the late great ABA....
Thats gotta be the most pathetic NBA Finals court logo of all time
This Spurs team ended Shaq and Kobe's short-lived era.
If The Nets Had a Better Center During Their Championship Run And Also Vince Carter They Probably Would’ve Won One 🏆
This is the greatest match ever.
no cap Stack5 was hitting dagger after dagger. He got them the first lead and went curry mode 😂
if Mutombo stay healthy in this series they can beat spurs.
Yeah , like If d-rose didn’t get injured, he could have been the best in his era or like if he
😂😂😂 nope, 6 games had more to do with the Spurs and less to do with the Nets. This was a Spurs team who defeated the 3x NBA champ, Shaq and Kobe Lakers
Yep😏🖤GO SPURS!!!!!!🤘
2:33 is that Jerry Springer? 😂
This is the most recent NBA game with LeBron not in the league.
cool fact
This New Jersey Nets team was not a great match up vs this Spurs team it was a boring NBA Finals. But, still part of nba history.
where did you find this in such good quality?
exactly and this was made like 19 years ago
I miss the midrange jumper..
Jason Kidd said if they had double teamed Duncan they would have won the series
They did double team him. He'd always kick it out to the open man. 🙄
You miss those ten blocks
Quadruple double game
The Admiral o7
I'm an MJ fan and all, but my boy MJ better be glad he didn't run into the Spurs dynasty during his run. He handed the baton to them, but he's not going 6-0 with the Spurs around. He'd get his, but so would they. Shaq/Kobe, then LBJ had to deal with this team, and had to share.
This Finals had the worst NBA Finals Logo ever
How many blocks Duncan had ???
8
damn nets really blew this game huh
Nets was strong team back then but they can do nothing against duncan
TD quadruple-double
That team w/o Kidd prob be a 35 win team
J Kidd straight carrying bums I honestly think this nets team was way worse than the Cavs 07 team
You are a bum watching. First, the teams of the East were weaker when compared to the west. Second, if you can get to the playoffs then you're not a bum. It's a shame bums like you love to disrespect players because of their roles, despite how effective their roles are. Grow up you pubescent noob.
Stephen Jackson is the reason
Mike Breen>>>
How Is this nets team even in the finals no wonder lbj ran through the east lol
Twin Towers abused Martin
It reminds me of nikolai jokic
0:40 double technical all players ejected, fined and need to isolate for 2 weeks in today’s NBA. This was when it was a mans game
And 8 blocks
All of the Spurs championship teams were completely boring. I'm glad their era is done!
Cry
We had that shit nets smh! Still seeking that first chip
Duncan was robbed of a quadruple double.
This had to be the most boring NBA Finals. However at the time it was the only good thing to watch while being stationed overseas.
Translation, you're a noob to basketball and only want to see athleticism and dunks and cross overs instead of actual game play, plans and fundamentals. I bet you were lazy overseas too.
Still amazes me how Tim duncan dominated in the most boring looking way possible
