I have used a quilting thread to attach my fabric as I find that it can withstand going through the webbing quite well.

I do mine the same way, using the closest spool of cheap thread. I don’t understand the folks who say that it’s too much work to do this. It only takes a few minutes and IMHO is the best way to secure the fabric.
