Strong agree about having the same decorations year after year. I remember being so excited as a kid to pull out the decoration box from the attic and see everything. I’ve been slowly developing my own collection, buying sturdy looking decorations from antique malls and such, building onto the base of my parents and grandparents decorations that are split between my siblings :)
Most of our holiday decorations are things from my husband's family when he was a kid. I love his little splotchy painted ornaments and stuff with his (no longer with us) mom's cutie-patootie little notes and messages written on them.
Yes!!! My family and I haven't bought any Christmas decorations since moving in 2018- most of them are from our first house move in 2004. I remember them from each Christmas and that's what makes them special! Though every year I spend hours re-stringing baubles 😂
Most of my decorations I have had for so long that I have no idea where they came from. Most of them were probably inherited from family members or thrifted. Some years I don’t put some of them out…which makes it more fun to see them again in the future.
The sad thing is, the original woman who started it, didn’t even do it to celebrate the gender of the baby. She kept having miscarriages, so she originally did it to celebrate having a pregnancy long enough to even find out the gender of the baby.
Why are gender reveals still a thing.. when later they say that genders are chosen by the child themselves and can be changed? XD This world has gone nuts XD
I'm 47 and some of my Halloween decor is stuff I made as a 25 yr old newlywed or bought from Target in 2000-2005 when they had such cute styles but I couldn't really afford as much as I wanted. I treasure it all.
I buy basics from primark and SHEIN as they are affordable and wear the clothes for years until they are so old. I wore my primark leggings for 6 years and eventually got paint on them and only then got rid of them. I don’t see a problem if you aren’t wasteful with these sorts of clothes and wear them properly
My skeledog is out year round, when I remember to I'll put a seasonal accessory on it, but given year round it has the glow ball my (live) dogs used when they were puppies it's kinda always spooky season
I just helped my parents downsize, and since I recently moved into a bigger place, I got to take a bunch of my favorite holiday decor stuff from when I was growing up. And some of that is from my grandparents, my great grandma hand painted a ceramic christmas tree that I have now. To me that is worth so much more than whatever tf is at homegoods
My cousins gifted me one of those large lighted ceramic trees a year ago when she helped her Mom downsize to move. She remembered that I had been looking for one. The best part is that it from my Grandmas aunt house originally!
Right?? My mom would decorate for Halloween when we got older because my brother and I were really into the grunge scene of the 90s. But no “fall” decor or outfits or anything. It was Christmas that was huge. We had the Mickey Mouse village and got excited even as adults for her to pull that out while we were at school. Come home to carols and cocoa and the fireplace going. I’m trying to recreate that now for my kids
Yea, I remember getting the Christmas box out in December. The tinsel was definitely crunchy but and the lights were kinda janky but it worked. And I always got to be the one to put the angel on the top. The angel that my mum had had forever!
it's the massive shein hauls trying to find a "costume" that fits properly for ONE night before they fly across the world, for me 😫😫. literally the paper towel of clothing
This fr! I have a 5$ witch hat that I have used for 5+ years and all I do is change my clothes to things that I already have lol so much easier and affordable
This year I faced the problem of buying decor for the home, because my apartment is empty and I have literally nothing, because of the war I had to start life with a clean slate and a new country. But many people here help me and gift me something, give away unnecessary things etc. and I am very grateful to them for that. Your videos are very interesting and inspiring ❤
Secondhand jewellery is great because you can see how the piece is lasting over time. It’s also so varied and interesting. So many fashion influencers talk about developing your own personal style, but almost all of them wear those little gold disc pendants layered with another necklace. It’s so boring.
Yesterday I went to Marshall’s (TJ Max in USA I think?)…I just looked. Well I actually needed two things, however I only picked up what I needed. It was really nice to just look, appreciate the fall decor, mugs, kitchenware, clothes, etc. without bringing it into my home.
This is so nerdy, but in the US we have Marshall's, TJ Maxx and Home Goods, all owned by TJX. I worked at Marshall's so this useless knowledge is still in my head. LOL
I found a little holiday decor tip, it's printables. You can thrift or buy decor frames and then switch out artwork for the holidays. Super low impact and then you can partake in trends.
i started that this year, and i love it!! i have a big pack of nicer frames in different sizes, so i can switch them around rooms with different photos and sizes depending on my mood and season
My best tip for buying nice jewelry affordably is buying it from pawn shops!!! All of my everyday pieces are from there and they are so unique and have lasted for many years! This is also how I got my engagement ring and wedding band:)
If any of y'all like crocheting, my favorite fall decor piece is some leaves I crocheted and thumbtacked to the wall. I followed a pattern entitled "chestnut leaf table runner and placemats". I made like 4, using the same yarn but different hook sizes so I'd end up with different sized leaves. When they're not on my wall, they take up almost no space to store, about as much as a folded t shirt. In my case, I had received the yarn as a gift, but it's acrylic which I can't wear (the giver didn't know that). But the colorway was very autumnal, and that sent me looking for a leaf pattern to follow! One of these days I'll get around to making something similar for winter, spring, and summer too, but like all crafters, I have many such projects on my "one of these days" list 😅
I really enjoy picking out one piece of seasonal decor per year to create a collection over time of only items I really love. I also try to keep an eye out for thrifted items in the offseasons. Just remember that you can either have the object OR the space in your home. You can't have both, so try to consider your storage situation & keep your treasures safe. 💖
I'll admit I do usually buy one or two pieces of new decor every fall specifically (Not big into seasonal decoration, *except* for fall) but I always buy from the thrift store. You can find some of the funnest, cutest, kitschiest stuff at thrift stores this time of year.
I absolutely love the homemade seasonal decor from my childhood and things that I’ve had passed down from my in-laws or my grandparents. It really does make it more special!
amen to stainless steel! It is very cheap!! I have worn an anklet every day for 2 years now that is stainless steel and it looks new :) I also have several piercings on my body and they are stainless steel and I've had them for over 10 years.. it is a great material and I really don't get why it isn't that popular..
@@alexmcginness8859 stainless steel can be different colors.. even without painting them (it's a chemical treatment, by changing the oxide layer the color can change)
I’m currently pregnant, and we announced the gender at our baby shower. We whispered it to our 10 year old niece and she yelled it to the rest of the room. She was so excited to be apart of it and getting to technically know first. It was sweet. I highly recommend announcing at your baby shower, if you want to announce, for several reasons. 1) you already have everyone together 2) you only have to decorate for one party 3) people will stick more to your registry because they can’t just buy you a bunch of overly gendered things. I specifically made my registry very gender neutral because I want these items to work for multiple children. Traditionally you’re really only supposed to have a shower for the first kid and use everything for the next one etc.
I’ve been wanting a heavyweight cotton plaid shirt for years now but they are often $50+ and I just couldn’t justify it. Last week I found a barely worn vintage one at the thrift store for $9 and I was so happy. The fact that it’s vintage also means it’s likely way better quality than anything I could buy new.
I grew up in the town next door to the town that had the Frye boot factory. We all had them in the 60's and 70's. They last forever! There were few styles but you could identify them easily.
I own two pairs. My first pair brand new brought years ago and second pair I thrifted. Honestly my first pair are so uncomfortable but sich good quality I don't have the heart to sell them and have been trying to break them in for years. My second pair is so much better because they are already broken in. Why do Frye make their boots so uncomfortable to the point it doesn't make sense?
@@Mia-Elemental They always were a bit clunky, more of a biker boot and the leather was really thick. All basically the same type of boot. The newer ones are a bit different. Try taking leather conditioner and rubbing it all over the inside as well as outside and wear them right away. The heat of your foot will help the conditioner work.
Anti-haul buying a hunch of stuff for new crafts/hobbies constantly. It's become a point lf pride to "hoard" craft supplies you're never going to use, or buying a bunch of new stuff, learning to do something, then quitting it immediately afterwards.
I'm currently making a longtime dream cosplay of.mine purposefully to use up fabric and findings I already have! I've also donated tons of great supplies to a nearby secondhand craft supply shop! 🥰
yeah. its especially upsetting that you can see disappointment in one parent in some of these videos. also gendering your unborn half baked flesh blob (affectionate) is weird projection at best lmao
The idea made my parents so visibly sad when I told them about it. They spent ten years and their life savings on IVF to become parents. When they found out it had worked, the gender didn't even cross their minds, they were just so excited- I can understand gathering your friends for a party to celebrate a new baby, but these over the top parties are weird.
This couldn't have come at a better time. I have started to buy crap I don't need and its because I'm struggling with being mindful about it. Ive been having health issues so I cant be as active as I used to be and that has taken a toll on me. This video is the perfect reminder and motivation to keep it together.
I love Halloween and when I finally got my own place to decorate I went all out on shopping. In hindsight I realized it would have been more fun to do little bits of shopping every year and build up a collection I truly love over the years. So this year I’m holding off on Halloween shopping until after I go through all the decor I already have. This helps me avoid buying items I don’t have a place for, or as I’ve done before, getting the same or very similar items more than once. Plus, I can wait and hit up the after holiday sales, which limits my options and forces me to focus on items I truly love.
You just said you went all out on shopping the first year and that you have multiples of the same thing so why do you even need to go to the after holiday sales to buy more? Sounds like you're trying to justify shopping when it isn't necessary.
you have completely changed the way I live! I’ve started implementing small changes since I found your channel last fall. I still have a long way to go but thank you for making sustainability approachable, easy to understand, and shame free 💚
My partner and I put off getting a Christmas tree for years because of all the decoration and hassle that goes with it. Things being made so cheaply too. But last year, we did buy one that will come to the grave with us. For an entire month before, I literally made every single ornament inspired by ones from my childhood tree that were just timeless. So our tree is a mix of yarn, kraft paper, and wood beads with the colour scheme of red, gold and white. Honestly brings me so much joy. Best thing about it, if one breaks or goes missing, I can easily replace it 🤩
Gender reveal parties are such a wild concept, I don't think they even exist in Europe. The gender of your baby just doesn't seem like such an important thing to me to have a whole ass firework about it...
😭 this is so real! Just arrived to England, a few days ago…the culture here is honestly so much better than the US. My husband and I have both been blown away by the most simple things that we feel we should have in America and we can’t figure out WHY we can’t be more civil like the Brits!!! My gosh! I feel like they’re so much less fussy than ‘Mericans. We’re in such a small town coming from DC and ATL, and it’s so refreshing to just experience a slower pace of living.
I'm not sure, but it's been gaining popularity for a couple of years now. Social media (and people seeing/hearing others have these "parties") must play a part too, like you said. I refuse to go, haha 😂
Totally hear you about TS! I'm American but I live in the UK so i saw her in London and made a point of telling everyone I LIVE HERE cause I completely agree it's absolutely wasteful how people are travelling to see the Eras Tour for a 3rd, 4th, 5th time across the world
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the emissions of purchasing a new electric vehicle vs keeping an older vehicle! My jurisdiction gives tax breaks for buying new electric vehicles but no rebates for keeping older ones, and I’m not convinced buying a new electric vehicle is more sustainable than keeping an old one. I think this is especially interesting to consider in places where power is coal and natural gas!
For the concert one, I've never been to a concert, but I plan to fly for one, of my favourite band. They just don't make tours in Europe, so I probably would never listen to them live otherwise.
Going for a once in a lifetime special opportunity is not the same as flying to see a concert you already saw much closer to you to begin with. Enjoy your trip!
I think it's fine personally if you make a vacation/trip out of a concert trip (i e. see the concert and look around the area), but I agree with Shelby's statement that if you are flying only to see a concert that you have seen before, than that is not the most sustainable way to go about things. I am personally down to travel for once in a lifetime events such as solar eclipse and use that to explore different areas, I think it's a good way to combine lifetime experiences in one trip!
We are making our own pumpkin spice syrup at home using leftover pumpkin from pumpkin bread recipes! It’s turned out even better than any other pumpkin spice syrup we’ve tried!
My personal favorite trick to finding well-made jewelry, specifically necklaces, is to make sure the company you are buying from solders their links. When they do this your chain is far less likely to snap or come apart and most of the time they use better clasps with these types of chains as well. I personally link James Avery's chains and you can put whatever charm you want on them, it doesn't have to be from James Avery specifically.
So agree with everything you said. Re: fall decorating, I like to decorate with edibles, like pumpkins and squashes and cuttings from plants in my neighborhood.
That last point is so real. I used to work at a chain retailer that sold seasonal decor and it always astounded me how many of those items we sold. Like, something like plastic Christmas trees. Those things are reusuable for YEARS and yet somehow there were always enough people buying them each year that we sold out. How many brand new plastic Christmas trees does the average American suburb really need each year?? What happened to the ones from last year??
I am so beyond allergic to real trees, so we always had a fake tree. The same fake tree. I'm 28 now, and we have had the same tree at my parents house for as long as I can remember. I'm a professional at setting that thing Edit:maybe they're like my coworker that has like.... 12? Trees? One in every room of their 4000 square foot house
@@Megan-nt7dmi inherited my grandma’s plastic christmas tea when she died 7 years ago, and she had that same tree for as long as i remember… wouldn’t surprise me if it’s about 20 years old now. but it’s in perfect condition? i can’t understand why it would need replacing
Normally I'm a huge buyer of Halloween decorations but this year everything seems so cheaply made and I'm just over buying crap. I'm enjoying what I have and decided this year's new item is going to be making a Halloween banner with all this holiday material I've collected over the years.
I talked myself out of buying a for-purpose diaper bag. Some of them might have a few cool features, but I already have a variety of bags and a convenient travel changing pad from my first kid, that I realized I can just use bags/backpacks I already own and move the components around depending on the outing. It sucks because I keep seeing ads everywhere for the company that I considered buying a mini diaper bag from and it’s SO tempting. But I’m holding strong so far.
Even the “quality” clothing items that will last a lifetime are going to go out of style so less firsthand clothing purchases is always better. For example, if I bought skinny jeans, a chevron peplum top, and a statement necklace from slower fashion brands back in 2012, they’re in the same landfill as the fast fashion versions :(
Very good point! This is why buying into trends is a never ending cycle because there is always gonna be something new that is trendy. I will say tho, if you hang onto stuff long enough it will come back around. I kept a lot of clothes that still fit me from my youth, and a lot of them have become popular and trendy again thanks to resurgence of y2k
I just don't worry about being on trend. If my old stuff from a decade ago (or more) still fits and is in good condition, I'm still wearing it if I personally like it.
I’ve thought about it over the years and decided to minimize seasonal decor as much as possible. The only seasonal items I currently have were either nostalgic decor or things gifted to me 😊
For jewelry- I thrifted all of my jewelry and I actually found a bag full of jewelry on the side of the road on trash day that was parts and pieces so I grabbed it and put it all in a makeup bag and I make my own jewelry for myself, my bf, and for friends. I have all the hooks and clasp to fix if they do break and the friends I make jewelry for know to bring it back to me so I can fix it. Michaels sells metal string and they sell the clasp and the beads to squish the metal together if anyone was interested in fixing their jewelry. 💕💕
My favorite part about decorating for any holiday is bringing out the decorations we’ve had for years, things my mom and grandmother passed down. Telling the stories behind them, it’s so special and sentimental.
Loved your take on holiday decor! My friends and I have a Halloween party every year and I try my best to repair things that break and get creative with how to decorate differently with what we have, but my friends inevitably end up getting a few new things every year (and usually stuff we don’t need). I try to lead by example as much as possible because I don’t want my friends to think I’m too pushy or trying to micromanage their lives.
My grandma made plastic canvas Christmas tree decorations for the family when I was little. She also had them on her tree. I still use them to this day, and plan on giving them to my kids when I die. I love them! They remind me of my childhood and moments with my grandma. I couldn't imagine having anything else on my Christmas tree. 💖
About the jewlery I totally agree! I recently found a small business from Hawaii that only does stainless steel jewlery, its female owned, local, they have a lot of timeless designs. I really recommend it lol
In a similar vein to how you say trust your gut reaction to a trend - that's how I feel about holiday decor. I think because my mom always made it feel like holidays threw up in our house with cheap, tacky decor when I was a kid, as an adult I really don't have much of a stomach for much if any holiday decor, especially in my own home. I totally get that it makes some people happy and some find genuine enjoyment from it, but for me it always feels like clutter in my living space and breaks me out of the oasis I try to create for myself in my home. I have maybe 1 fall/Halloween item, and a handful of items from my childhood or that I REALLY liked as an adult + tree ornaments for Christmas, but beyond that I've found not really having seasonal decor genuinely makes me happiest
I agree 100%. I have a perfect example for following your first reaction. I started seeing the ugg short slippers things everywhere and they are not cute or useful. My mind started to change and I was wanting them… thats how I knew i had to get off tiktok.
i always have thought flying abroad for a concert youve already been to in your home country insane. Like im from the UK, sadly a lot of bands i like do not come here, id understand flying abroad and making a holiday out of it but just to go and come back? excessive
I have been trying to find timeless jewelry that I can wear constantly and not have it tarnish, it's so hard if you aren't willing to spend a lot of money! I really like your point about holiday decorations being nostalgic, that is a big part of the magic, the excitement of bringing out the family decorations each year. I am going to use that point when talking to people!
That’s a great idea! My MacBook is 10 years old this year and it’s getting really hard to use. I haven’t run Linux in a while but I used to be a Linux Mint user. What’s your favorite flavor these days?
I try to get stainless steel jewelry in a more timeless design (think signet rings, simple bands, paperclip chains, herringbone chains)! For something cheap and non-tarnish it's pretty unbeatable. At this price point I could get sterling silver, but I got so sick of having to polish that ish, and obviously gold or white gold is a whole other price point.
I have absolutely had it with the Shein vacation hauls!! When my coworkers go on vacation, they love to brag about how they bought a bunch of new swim suits and dresses that they only plan on wearing once and then throwing away when they get home, or even at their destination! I’m all for having nice vacation clothes, but I’ve been thrifting all of mine over the years so I have a nice selection when I go somewhere. It’s wild and infuriating that clothing has become disposable
Devastated by that ghost dog walking statue, because I have a tattoo of almost exactly that, which I've had for over a year. Now it looks like I got a trendy Halloween decoration tattooed 😭
I have about 1 seasonal item I switch out every season that’s usually coupled with a candle to really make it feel homey. I cant imaging spending thousands for the hot trendy DECOR item that you can’t even use and sits in your house for a few months, how wild
Totally agree on the being sold a product to fix something about your body you didn't even know was wrong until they told you. I remember a while back when I started seeing videos about "hip dips" and seeing teenage girls freaking out about them. Now I always felt like I was a teen in an era of horrible body image being pushed at you for profit (the 00s) and yet this was definitely not a thing then. I literally had to go to a mirror to check and see whether I had them or not! It was such a moment of self growth when I saw the tiny little dips and went "Huh, I could not care less."
i collect vintage solid gold jewelry so i am very happy to see costume jewelry being anti-hauled. there is so much nice gold jewelry available, in every style you can imagine. buy something that lasts and sell it on if you change your mind someday.
This time of year is hard on me because it's soon after my birthday and folks give me gift cards and cash. I just have to be mindful of what I do with it, consider it "Meal funds" or "repeat-buy funds" for dishwasher tablets, shampoo bars etc. Thanks for the content.
same! My birthday is at the start of November but right now I'm reminding myself to use up all the Lush and Sephora junk because I'll restock for my b-day
Restaurants giving kids a reusable plastic cup! Some restaurants do it automatically even. Prior to us sitting down; we come to the table and there two plastic souvenir cups for our kids. Very annoying! Especially when the damn restaurant even use plastic cups for their normal drinking cups and most families don’t take the kid cups home anyways. Like, WTF!?
One thing I talked myself out of buying was brand new items just to try and make my baby's first holiday's super unique/special. The whole family doesn't need new costumes for Halloween. Just reuse past costumes/what is around the house. Same with other holidays
Along the lines of holiday decor I’d like to anti-haul those inflatable lawn decorations. They don’t seem like they’re designed to last and I don’t want my decorations to require electricity
Affordable and intimate gender reveal idea - pancake day with family and the whipped cream is the gender reveal according to the gender. Very simple, fun and intimate.
I’m a soon to be 50yr old swiftie ! I have no money so even seeing her locally is never gonna happen .. I only go to concerts I can get to in a hour or so. Saw the Pixies this summer ,we brought refillable water bottles and ate vegan burgers before we went . It was still amazing!
I'll be 48 this fall and I never got into Taylor Swift but I still feel ya, I'm seeing Dua Lipa again next year because her 2022 show was the greatest concert I've ever attended...and I have seen SO many big ones. I also saw the Pixies with Modest Mouse and enjoyed (we live right by the venue and ate at home and walked to the show) But Amyl and the Sniffers were my favorite concert of this summer, hands down.
anti-haul buying extra food that will then go bad before you're able to eat it!! i think it's a balance that's hard to navigate, but SO much food goes to waste because of this
Thank you! I really needed to hear that and a reality check these days. Things are getting out of hand on the internet, especially if you consume social media for way too long on a daily basis...
Can you please make a video of where you buy your jewelry from? You could mention sustainable brands you recommend as well as how to find good quality pieces at the thrift store
Will you make a video talking about the green party, how they came to be & what they stand for. Thank you for your content, I totally agree about how special it is to use the same decor every year
niobium is the best when you're shopping for a brand new piece because there isn't a legal definition for surgical steel, it also often has nickel in it
I've had lots of costume jewellery outlast real jewellery. I find it's like clothing, where you have to gradually learn a bit about quality to judge each piece and brand. I don't know how much it's changed. It's been years since I last bought jewellery new. 🤷 Note: it seems IMPOSSIBLE to tell how long finishes will last. It also depends on your own skin.
I wore a stamped aluminum necklace by a local artist every day for 5 years. I still love it dearly but the hole for the jump ring is worn almost open, so I replaced it recently. I hghly recommend aluminium jewlery! Hypoallergenic, light weight, super durable.
I really like making my own holiday decor. Anytime I find cute holiday decor I try to make something similar myself instead of buying the one at the store because all I can think about are the under paid worker that had to make those items. Any other decor I get is secondhand from the thrift store or antique malls.
Brava! Excellent presentation, Shelbie. We need more videos on anti- haul in this world of over- consumption. I avoid buying cork board and hair care products this month. Pls make videos on anti haul on makeup and skin care products or the products one “must have” by their bed side table 😏 Best wishes, fellow imperfect environmentalist 🌿
Re jewelry: For me sterling silver is always my best bet. To my knowledge, "stainless steel" isn't a strictly regulated material, so it's contents/percentages can differ. I have sensitive skin so I have to be super careful about the metals I wear, but I also don't want gold since it's so soft. Sterling silver is something that can easily be verified if it is stamped with 925. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about stainless steel.
I have talked myself out of buying a new kindle with all new kindle girlies out. I have rescued my 12 yo kindle and now I am loving my vintage kindle. It has buttons and it is so much more satisfying to click than to swipe 🎉❤
Also, as a kid we had a (store bought) paper/light cardboard skeleton we hung on the door every year. Almost every year it would get torn a little bit and my mom would tape it up. We LOVED that thing and I remember being so sad and disappointed when my mom declared that it was too broken to be used anymore.
As a pregnant mom for the second time, I will, as I did the first time just get the gender from my doctor and tell everyone on a facetime call lol. That’s my big reveal
The “hair identifier spray” reminds me of the gua sha. Both those item I have considered buying into, but peach fuzz really is not a problem, and after researching gua sha, the actual practice was with a spoon before capitalism got to it 🤦
I've noticed ghosts are HUGE this year for Fall/Halloween decor. It's not my style at all. Which is a blessing bc I'm not tempted to buy anything really this year. But also I've been enjoying slowly and mindfully adding to my decor of my favorite time of year and this year I don't think I'll be getting anything. But that's also fine
As a huge kpop Stan, I know fans who fly from state to state or drive from state to state to see two concerts in a row in both locations. Some fans are just die hard and know that their favorite bands are guaranteed to enter the country again for a long time, so they do all the traveling. Taylor’s from the US so I don’t get traveling out of the country to see her lol but I do know people that did.
There is an asterisk to the concert one. A lot of people don’t live in a touring country, like Asian citizens not in Japan or Singapore. I flew to LA from Portland to see a double show for an indie artist and visit my bff, but people are traveling to multiple countries to see one artist? Good God.
@@T-bear73 As someone in Portland, I’ve experienced artists just skipping the PNW or at least Portland. With Canada, big artists often make a stop in Toronto and call it a day.
someone posted on their snap story a Halloween basket they received and they had a cute wall plug in. I was instantly intrigued and asked where they got it from.... and they said Temu.... i about cried. I wore my primark leggings for 6 years and eventually got paint on them and only then got rid of them. I don’t see a problem if you aren’t wasteful with these sorts of clothes and wear them properly
Shein is the only place with affordable, trendy options that have my size! So respectfully, I will not be banning Shein lol
How I solve the Halloween issue. Be goth. BAM. my room in constantly Halloween ready and filled with vintage and thrifted finds
My skeledog is out year round, when I remember to I'll put a seasonal accessory on it, but given year round it has the glow ball my (live) dogs used when they were puppies it's kinda always spooky season
This! During this time of year I'm like: Finally! Some home decor I can enjoy! 😂🦇🕸
Or a witch
this lolol
YESSS!!! Am a witch, and Halloween is both my favorite season as it’s considered the new years, but also- SPOOKY! And the best decor comes out!!
Lol thanks
My cousins gifted me one of those large lighted ceramic trees a year ago when she helped her Mom downsize to move. She remembered that I had been looking for one. The best part is that it from my Grandmas aunt house originally!
I grew up in the 90’s, and it was the same box of decor every Christmas ( fall didn’t have decor other than the leaves outside 😂) But, I LOVED it 😍
Oh, GROSS
I'm a cosplay nerd so I usually just wear a costume I already made, that isn't too annoying to wear all night. 🤣
THE PAPER TOWEL OF CLOTHING that is the best!! So true!!
I'll buy something if I still want it two weeks later.
You can find some of the funnest, cutest, kitschiest stuff at thrift stores this time of year.
got my new favorite decoration last year from the thrift store :D
I absolutely love the homemade seasonal decor from my childhood and things that I’ve had passed down from my in-laws or my grandparents. It really does make it more special!
amen to stainless steel! It is very cheap!! I have worn an anklet every day for 2 years now that is stainless steel and it looks new :) I also have several piercings on my body and they are stainless steel and I've had them for over 10 years.. it is a great material and I really don't get why it isn't that popular..
So is titanium. Light and durable!
Silver doesn’t look good on me :(
I only wear real solid gold though 🤷🏽♀️
I wish I was into silver but nope, gold is what I prefer. 🥲
I needed this today! Paydays always inspire me to shop. So please make these every two weeks please 😂
Love my Frye boots! They last forever if you take good care of them. Not a trend in my world 😊
I own two pairs.
@@NinaCasali thank you I will try this immediately.
I agree about seasonal decor - half the fun of seasonal decor is bringing out old things that have history attached to them!
I can't deal with gender reveals at all. I would never attend one. The important part is having a healthy baby. Who cares about the gender?
Right? So absurd and sad.
yeah. its especially upsetting that you can see disappointment in one parent in some of these videos. also gendering your unborn half baked flesh blob (affectionate) is weird projection at best lmao
I can relate to a thing like a cake filled with cream or berries of the color you want. You can still think it's stupid, but there's cake :-)
It's a bit strange concept...but as long as the parents are happy about both sexes and it's just a regular get together with a cake, why not :)
@@striketochill Haha! Define "necessary" in a conversation about decorations. Why even bring that up?
you have completely changed the way I live!
Unfortunately, gender reveal parties are becoming very much a thing here in the Netherlands too, so nope Europe isn't spared this nonsense! 😩
@@martastanwick Oh no 😮💨 Have they been a thing before or do you think it's because of this being a social media trend right now?
I'm not sure, but it's been gaining popularity for a couple of years now. Social media (and people seeing/hearing others have these "parties") must play a part too, like you said. I refuse to go, haha 😂
I’m in Scotland I’ve seen a lot of gender reveals in the past few years none of them have been extreme like the ones posted for likes.
Totally hear you about TS! I'm American but I live in the UK so i saw her in London and made a point of telling everyone I LIVE HERE cause I completely agree it's absolutely wasteful how people are travelling to see the Eras Tour for a 3rd, 4th, 5th time across the world
I love using the same decor year after year. Something so special about it - I forget I have it all and love looking at it again! 😍
That's a great idea, I'd love to see that video.
For the concert one, I've never been to a concert, but I plan to fly for one, of my favourite band. They just don't make tours in Europe, so I probably would never listen to them live otherwise.
That’s like a vacation, that’s fine!
@@OshawattIsANinja it sounds very entitled . Some people just don’t have enough vacation days or money to make it a full trip
I'm a professional at setting that thing
Edit:maybe they're like my coworker that has like.... 12? Trees? One in every room of their 4000 square foot house
I've never thought about this, I am now astounded as well! I can't comprehend either
Use your better judgement to buy the clothes YOU like and would wear.
Same point as holiday decor. Don't jump on trends, buy timeless pieces that you genuinely love
I just don't worry about being on trend. If my old stuff from a decade ago (or more) still fits and is in good condition, I'm still wearing it if I personally like it.
If you have the storage space, keep it until it becomes a trend again in 10 or 20 years.
I’ve thought about it over the years and decided to minimize seasonal decor as much as possible. The only seasonal items I currently have were either nostalgic decor or things gifted to me 😊
For jewelry-
I thrifted all of my jewelry and I actually found a bag full of jewelry on the side of the road on trash day that was parts and pieces so I grabbed it and put it all in a makeup bag and I make my own jewelry for myself, my bf, and for friends.
Back in the day, gender reveals were when your doctor told you the sex of your baby during an ultrasound…
A lot has changed…
That was us! My 8mo's gender reveal was the ultrasound tech showing us a super obvious butt shot.
Fun fact, Apple products you can run Linux on them so they can have another life when Apple decides they want to make your computer planned obsolete.
Linux is garbage though
That’s a great idea! My MacBook is 10 years old this year and it’s getting really hard to use. I haven’t run Linux in a while but I used to be a Linux Mint user. What’s your favorite flavor these days?
I love your anti haul videos ty Shelbizzle!!
Silver is also softer and may not stand up to the abuse of some wearers. Steel holds up much better.
I love how you explain everything in-depth. it makes it so easy for me to understand how important it is to live sustainably. All love from SA🇿🇦
YES!!! I smashed the like button after the first one 😂
i collect vintage solid gold jewelry so i am very happy to see costume jewelry being anti-hauled. there is so much nice gold jewelry available, in every style you can imagine. buy something that lasts and sell it on if you change your mind someday.
I just like listening to you speak sometimes. Your voice is so calming
I’ve had my Frye boots for 20 years. They look brand new thanks to an amazing cobbler. I had no idea they are trendy again.
How do you break them in? I've had mine for years and they are still uncomfortable.
@@Mia-Elemental I'm sorry I don't remember, mainly I just tried different socks. I just use thin trouser socks. Good luck!
Along the lines of holiday decor I’d like to anti-haul those inflatable lawn decorations. They don’t seem like they’re designed to last and I don’t want my decorations to require electricity
Absolutely wonderful video!! Thank you so much! Also the white blouse looks fantastic on you!!
I also saw the Pixies with Modest Mouse and enjoyed (we live right by the venue and ate at home and walked to the show)
But Amyl and the Sniffers were my favorite concert of this summer, hands down.
anti-haul buying extra food that will then go bad before you're able to eat it!! i think it's a balance that's hard to navigate, but SO much food goes to waste because of this
My favorite part of the holidays is pulling out the old holiday decor ❤️
Will you make a video talking about the green party, how they came to be & what they stand for. Thank you for your content, I totally agree about how special it is to use the same decor every year
I truly love this video and I agree with you 100% on all topics. Especially the gender reveal and the holiday decor.
costume jewelry is often made with nickel with you can develop an allergy to via exposure!
niobium is the best when you're shopping for a brand new piece because there isn't a legal definition for surgical steel, it also often has nickel in it
I unfortunately speak from experience, I break out in so many rashes looking for jewelry
I've had lots of costume jewellery outlast real jewellery. I find it's like clothing, where you have to gradually learn a bit about quality to judge each piece and brand. I don't know how much it's changed. It's been years since I last bought jewellery new. 🤷
Note: it seems IMPOSSIBLE to tell how long finishes will last.
Pls make videos on anti haul on makeup and skin care products or the products one “must have” by their bed side table 😏
Best wishes,

Re jewelry: For me sterling silver is always my best bet. To my knowledge, "stainless steel" isn't a strictly regulated material, so it's contents/percentages can differ. I have sensitive skin so I have to be super careful about the metals I wear, but I also don't want gold since it's so soft. Sterling silver is something that can easily be verified if it is stamped with 925.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about stainless steel.
That hair identifier is literally to a t dry shampoo, insane what a marketing spin can do
I have talked myself out of buying a new kindle with all new kindle girlies out. I have rescued my 12 yo kindle and now I am loving my vintage kindle. It has buttons and it is so much more satisfying to click than to swipe 🎉❤
I have to constantly talk myself out of gimmicks foods. Like Star Wars and black pink Oreos. I’ve done really good but I have gotten so close 😂to
If it doesn't have chocolate, I usually try 'em.
How does anyone buy that ghost statue for $500??? It doesn't even look like it's worth the $80 the retail places want for it.
I'm kind of the opposite, this is my year because I love ghosts and they really are everywhere right now.
I have a glass statue of a pumpkin that I painted. It was a kit but I hope it gets past down to whomever forever 🖤🎃
Just added a bunch of items on amazon cart, and then watched this video..
Thank you so much.. saved me tons of money!!
I love making my own fall decor , I made a little mosaic pumpkin this year from orange plates and such I thrifted
There is an asterisk to the concert one. A lot of people don’t live in a touring country, like Asian citizens not in Japan or Singapore. I flew to LA from Portland to see a double show for an indie artist and visit my bff, but people are traveling to multiple countries to see one artist? Good God.
or Canada cuz we get very few tour stops
@@T-bear73 As someone in Portland, I’ve experienced artists just skipping the PNW or at least Portland. With Canada, big artists often make a stop in Toronto and call it a day.
someone posted on their snap story a Halloween basket they received and they had a cute wall plug in. I was instantly intrigued and asked where they got it from.... and they said Temu.... i about cried.
Anyways, I am stoked to bring out my pumpkin decoration I got from the thrift store last year that is now easily one my favorite things I own.
AGREED WITH EVERYTHING IN THIS VIDEOOOO
Anti hauls are my favourite videos❤
