  • I was off a little but I was really close.
Let's go over the cost of the material for a 1800 sq ft house with a 2 car garage, just the drywall phase. I break down the footage numbers so it will help you guys understand the bidding process. If you're a homeowner this will help you with a DIY project and if you are a newer contractor this will expand your knowledge base.
It’s all part of construction estimating. Estimate the cost of an addition. Estimating a remodel. Remodel estimate. How to bid a construction job. Construction estimating. Bathroom remodel cost. Estimating drywall.
Again, this is just how I do it and it might not work for you....

Starting out here, binge watching your tips videos. What is a fair percentage of profit for the contractor without being considered gouging?

Oh man that’s a loaded question. There are lots of people that will tell you 50% profit margins or more 😳. If you can get that and your customers are happy with the service you provide then more power to it. I personally shoot for 25% profit margins but to be honest I almost never get it. I’m too much of a “nice guy” and I provide more than I charge for.
      It’s really up to you.

@@Thehelpfulcontractor Thanks, it’s a great answer. The last company I worked for was shooting for 25% percent profit on every job. They weren’t hitting that most the time, but it was close.

@@willcash16 I probably should start with a 50% projected profit and maybe I’d hit 25%😂
