- Hello! We are Stuart & Emmie Bobson and we are documenting our experience of bobbing along the UK canals. We are completely new to boating but ready to adventure and learn! This video shows us meeting Annie, moving out of our London flat (FOREVER) and moving on to Annie.

Finally a sensible suggestion of what to watch. Enjoyed your first video. We bought our boat in November last year. One thing with the water tank, they do occasionally make a boom noise, especially if it is low or you have just filled up, it is just the stainless still contracting or expanding, nothing to worry about. It frightened the life out of me first time it happened. I thought something had hit the boat. Good luck with your adventures.

Can I make one suggestion that will improve your vlogging immensely, please purchase an external mic for your phone. I was straining to hear you in this vlog.
My recommendation would be one of the Rode vlogging kits. Also watch your levels in post

Well done on buying a boat! I too had weird dreams on the boat about the boat coming adrift in the night. 3 months later it finally happened - not too much drama as only one pin had come out and I could punt the boat back to the correct bank.

One of the first things I did on my board was choose a drawer for board games. Boats and games go well together. Just miss my regular games group for stuff like D&D. Always good to see new boaters.
Yes! Likewise missing my games groups but having fun none the less. I have plans in a future video to make a collapsible games table for the cratch area!

Yeah, we have heard good things about the Lancaster! We plan on heading north at some point.
Lovely to find a new vlog, with a couple just starting out on their new lifetime of adventure.
My dream is to be a full-time live aboard one day, as retirement is looming within the next decade.
Quick tip: get a clean bamboo garden cane (or something similar) to use as a dipstick in your water tank. That way you can check the level whenever you want to. Once you know the full depth you could even mark the cane in increments, to give you a clearer idea of how much is in the tank.
Happy cruising. Just follow your hearts and you’ll be fine. The boating community is so vast there is always someone willing to advise or give a hand.

would have thought a washing machine would be useful on the boat.....but you can always use them at marinas...
Hi thanks for watching! Yeah, some people have them. The two main problems we had was it was a 240v machine so we weren't sure if it would run just on solar a and even if it did, it would likely use up a lot of our limited supply of water. We decided we would rather have the cupboard space and go to a launderette.

Are you full time as some give up after a time, and in winter you don't have to be cold, but cosy!
We will be living aboard through winter, hope to learn to use our stove properly - our friends have very cosy boats but of course they know what they are doing!

Hi it’s a steep learning curve get your heads around the engine bay and the electrics most important just take your time when everything will fall into place it was the whole point of having the boat for miles an hour which is slower than the Internet 😂
We are already learning so much (and enjoying the adventure) definitely want to learn more about our engine asap!
