I was 14 and mainly bought this album for its smashing album cover art, then it quickly became my favourite and I still listen to it occasionally! It's still weird that I came across this masterpiece as at that time I was living in the communist Hungary and it was very unlikely to stumble upon such delights ;) Thanks for the upload!

Can u believe that a glam band named Steelheart made this under a different name? The fact is that bands made albums like this back in a day because they owed money to their labels. Most of those albums had poor songwriting because they were made by uninspired musicians with an imaginary gun in their backs, but this album has a different story. And the first copies of this album came with a single band photo that had 3 guys with long hair and bullet belts and another guy in a k.k.k. costume. No need to say that the guy in the k.k.k. costume was the only one of those 4 guys that participated in the making of the album, since it was the singer of Steelheart under the costume.
@@On_Dust you are confused. It's not Steelheart behind this project, but Virgin Steele, an epic metal band (with some hard rock tunes throughout their albums)!
The solos in burnt offerings are still blazing
Surely one of the best albums of all time. I know this was a one off studio product but the display of old school brutality and originality of this time piece shines through with memorable and extreme passion. The tracks are so well written and executed, the riffs are divine and the vocals are insanely good. I remember buying the Lp in 86 on a trip to France with the school at the age of 13, the cover alone sold me on it, i knew it had to be good!!! High Roller Records have reissued this with 3 alternate versions of the album, one completely remixed and then there are bonus tracks that were never on the album so die hards like me search that double cd out, its priceless!!!!!!!!
Shame this isn't more well known. It's definitely one of the all-time greatest metal albums.

Musically its definitely great, but its not more well known cuz most metalheads saw through the obvious cash grab this was as a fake band. Same with Original Sin and Piledriver.

@@NECROPOLIS000 I'm talking about how this band never played any shows, was mostly members of virgin steele, and were part of the metalxploitation concocted by a small label with the sole purpose of cashing in on gullible metal heads that would eat anything up that was satanic. There's only one band pic in existence(other than the cover of this record), no interviews ever. Listen to piledriver and original sin. They were also on the label, and sound very similar because they shared members. 3 bands, 3 records, 3 cash grabs.

I love this album since i've heard it for first time back in 1986. One of albums that shaped my music tase. Forever!
Remember the vinyl thing, which I found among some others in a plastic bag of borrowed albums from a long haired metalboy - must have been in the early nineties…. about 5 years later, I bought the CD in a local store, so happy that I really found it there. Oh thank you, so glad to find it here on UA-cam just by mistake :)

Prvýkrát som to počul v roku 1987 ! Bomba , na toto sa nedá zabudnúť ! Krásne rýchle pasáže striedané s pomalšími medzihrami , super nosná melódia spolu so sólami ! Jednoducho super !!! Teraz mám 50 a dokonca vlastním aj vinyl tohto albumu ! Toto je v porovnaní s terajšími technickými klepačkami nesmrteľné ! Dnes tomu chýba nosná

Great album! Back to the time that David Defeis was able to write great songs, either it was hard rock, power ballads, epic metal or even speed metal!

@@shagstars considering the fact that it was released in 1986, yes we can call it black metal of the first wave, though black metal because of the lyrics and voice, musically it's closer to speed/thrash i think with some heavy metal elements

Quando eu era pequeno tive que jogar esse disco no meio do mato, a pedido de uma mãe decepcionada com as escolhas musicais de seu filho. No meio do caminho alguém me ofereceu dinheiro por ele, mas na minha santa inocência eu recusei, pois tinha que fazer o que me mandaram. Joguei no mato, longe da casa da tal mulher e quando cheguei em casa e contei para meu irmão mais velho ele riu de mim e me chamou de boboca, dizendo que o disco podia valer muita grana. Era 87 ou 88 😢

I love the Black Metal moments. It has shades of Bathory to it. This is like a Bad Good movie! Great to revisit this now after all of these years.

I have this on vinyl (the original 1986 pressing). It seems that this remastered version has more treble. The original version sounds more bassy, murky, muddy, macabre and just shitty. Just the way I like it :D

@@innate7260 and Lost Paradise was created by the same people who created Host (i am talking about Paradise Lost) and Night on Brocken was created by the same people who created Perfect Symmetry (i am talking about Fates Warning), but how can someone compare such albums that are so different between them? What's the point of comparing Bach with Sex Pistols. Then of course it's all about taste in music. But i can't understand how an album like Nightmare Theatre (which i love actually) can "kick ass" of an album like The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. On the first one, Defeis just screams and growls, while on the second he is giving a magnificent vocal delivery. But everything is about someone's music taste and preference
Wasn't even really a side project. More like a metal exploitation "band". Same with piledriver, original sin. It was all a money scam to fleece metal heads that didn't know better. But luckily its a great record.

Just listened to this one and some of the slower and real heavy riffs even remind me a little of Autopsy, not saying it's exact but I could hear similarities and such that I can pick up on, and I like that.
Funny how side projects can actually be better than their primary band this band and pile driver weren't taken seriously but hell they sounded decent

@@whytegroovin I know that, doesnt change the fact what they did in this project. If you play speed/thrash metal with black metal vocals in the 80's you fall in the black metal category. Its heavier than what venom and half of what bathory did. It also reminds me a bit of early second wave bands when they were starting out (the band morbid is an example of this).
