Thank you for opening my eyes-the Epinay sur Orge work shows such a powerful affinity with van Gough’s thinking, but somehow that was never obvious to me until you pointed it out here, for example. The ideas “in the air” breathed by many artists, composers, writers, etc., may be familiar to us in the person of one or two stand-out names, but it’s never that simple.
I'm glad I came across this. I'm brand new to the art scene and have just recently discovered "Impressionism" and is my favorite movement currently. There are a few 'post-impressionists' I like from Van Gogh. Monet is great and so far my favorite painting is, "The Boulevard Montmartre on a Winter Morning" but it's great to see more other than main stream artists. One of my favorite's aspects of impressionism, is how the painters blend human figures so-to-speak, but never a specific person. Something about that I can't explain. Nice video...
William Stott's painting Passeur is brilliant and shows signs of things to come in art. As to your dislike of his greens it shows a lack of understanding of using greens in color perspective.
Thank you Mr. Humphreys for this inspiring presentation

I share your enthusiasm about painting , what do you mean by "blend human figures but never a specific person"
Pier head reminds me of John Singer Sargent’s painting Fishing for Oysters. It has that earthy style

Interesting that Bazille’s studio shows John Singer Sargent playing the piano on the right.
