It's always the same old story... People have someone botch their cars and when finally they have no where else to go, Luis , the car CSI comes in place.. you never catch a break, always get the bad ones ... Great video once again and keep being honest with your customers that's the best way to grab them

Taking on other people's failed attempts certainly makes for interesting videos, Luis.
    I noticed @ 7' 07" , the MaxiSys said "water in the fuel...notOK" .
Very well done on this video.

From the moment u touch the starter relay straight away i knew was a wet belt. I did 4 galaxys with the same problem wet belt went. Then people starting messing around with electric. In there should be really a chain and a belt on the top. But Italians they did this for saving costs. Belts are cheaper than chains. And quiet too. Even on auto data it says its a chain on there. But actually is not. The old 1.8 tdci engines did have a chain. After 2007 they fit in some of them wet belts . The 4 galaxys i fit a replacement engine and all was good. Wet belt on oil thats not a great design to be honest. On another hand that engines are bullet proof. Good video.

Around 2007-2009 ford began fitting the wet belt on this engine, on those years you could have a chain or belt and as you pointed out the end of the tensioner bolt (under PAS pump) tells you which type you have, early engines are chain, later are wet belt and 07-09 could be either, ford must have been using up old stock alongside phasing in the wet belt units.

The design is fine. It’s the servicing that creates the problem. Most back street garages assume it’s still chain driven. Another contributing factor is oil contamination. If you got a motor with that lynx engine you can get it converted to chain !!

i've not seen a wet belt problem yet but i must say for a 10-12 year old car that's not bad for a belt ( it's not good either) but when you look at the merc's and bmw's snapping chains at 80k or 4 years it's surprisingly good , but i would still rather a chain on the ford :) great video

There is always possible to do easier things like oil change or brakes job, not that kind of dodgy repair work. For some engines chains are not much better than belt especially aftermarket chains don't last but belts where designed to be replaced easy compared to chains and cost of chain kit is expensive. I don't know how they make engines where chain lasts for ever and engines where chains just don't last at all. And if engine is belt driven the belts should be replaced regularly. For this car better option would be used engine instead of repairing damaged one.

The tops of the valves tend to snap before the pistons get holes. Although I wouldn’t tempt rebuilding the head and taking a chance with the pistons. They do incur damage.

Let me tell you why you're never the first one to work on a car. Because people don't take you seriouslly. Marketing is everything. You fix parts that every big and fancy garage would just change. You don't have workshop... All that matters. People are basically stupid and they judge you by thoose things. Main dealers although we all know they are nothing but thieves, they are always overwhelmed by work. I will repeat MARKETING IS EVERYTHING. People bring their cars to you because they are desperate not because they trust you. Although you do the job much better, and I would say you do the job in the best possible way for the customer, that doesn't matter most of the times, it's all about marketing. You will fix the problem they brought car for and after that they'll go back to their garage. Of course that's not always the case but many time it is like that.

Belts are crap , even more so in a diesel.
Cheap , cheap cheap. Timing chains all the way. This guy may be better off finding a used engine .
