God bless you! I was 1 step away of taking the car to the scrapyard, after countless attempts and checks of the cluster and ECU, battery wires fuse grounds etc., 100% stress and money spent for nothing, I found this clip that changed everything, I found the solution, thank you
No fast forward , no bullshit loud music , pure talented mechanic ,straight to solution. Had four mk4 mondeos myself, nice cars but ecu it's in the most stupid location ever . 5 🌟...Well done.
Excellent video, Great to have full explanation of fault diagnosis and how to rectify. As they say too many cooks spoil the broth. from what I have seen the previous attempt to rectify was not followed all the way to the wire break because it was not seen to be broken before the actual break point, maybe because the junction point of broken wire was hidden between other wires. The mechanic at IA knows his stuff that is obvious. I have a pet hate of scotch locks which to me is a lazy way to join wire connections, which can mask a joint break. I salute the mechanic in this video and will be looking forward to watching more
Good stuff. When there's more than one related fault there's almost always a story behind it. We were called out to fix an almost new fridge freezer a few years ago and it had about 5-6 things wrong with it. After some detective work we realised the owner had put a lock lock on the top to stop the child getting into the fridge, but the child kept pulling on the door, which warped it, which let air in, which caused a build up of ice, which blocked and cracked sliding mechanism, which burned out a motor and cracked the housing around it, causing one side to be too warm and the other side to be too cold. The owner had already defrosted the fridge so when we arrived it just looked like a bunch or random broken stuff, and they would probably have had the exact same problem in a few months if we hadn't figured out the root cause of the problem.
This is excellent easy to follow diagnostic video and it saved me from pulling any more hair out! One day the battery went flat during Covid and it hasn't started for over 3 years and I've tried lots of suggestions and eventually today I came to the conclusion that there was a wiring fault but where was the fault? but following this video I managed to trace it and get the old girl running again, now just got to put it back together again. It was the yellow and red wire to the ECU that was the problem. 2010 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi. Thank you very much!
I've done 4 or 5 of these, same wire on all of them.... been a while but it's like a switched wire from the ECU to the relay box that fires one of the PCM relays - and it always rots right on the T bend. They've all turned up with massive bills from the last chancers! Literally 1 soldered wire repair and boom it runs.... that burnt out ECU has been done by the chances trying to fix it previously... the dangers of a trier with a snap-on power probe. I had 1 where they had swapped all the cluster and keys etc, bent some of the pins doing it too, and it wasn't even the right PCM calibration version for the application. The rabbit hole can often be deep!! When they do this, you can just bridge the relay connector between pins 30+87 just at the same time as turning the key on and the PATS times up right, then you can drive them back to the workshop... that turns some heads at the garage/customer your rescuing it from :)
Hi Gary , excellent diagnostics from the start up to the end of it and your experience speak out much louder than your job and well done and as my self i use to be a ford man and seen that fault few times which is in the same location but in your case any job coming from another place has always its own surprise just like that cooked PCM. How ever i like your style of Diagnostics .
Great Video and methodical. I have the same issue on a 2010 Galaxy I am a DIY mechanic, done most of the checking now just for the physical wire check. Same loom so this is a massive help. Many thanks for sharing.
Brilliant diagnosis, i hope i don't have to do this on my mondeo. Mine cranks over fine now i've pushed in a loose injector wiring plug, no PCM codes now, only a few BCM ones, so hoping it's just priming the fuel system!
Nice to find a UK auto channel. I find these electrical repairs very interesting but most of them are from abroad so the cars are not familiar to me. Nice clear explanation and you have another subscriber, thanks.
Yes a proper auto electrician seems to be a hard thing to come by in the UK most of them just know the basics or use the diagnosis tool as a replacement part finder and just fire the part cannon at them .
Love your work 4months been work on my mondeo so now l have see your great work l am heading straight to wagon and going to ECU AND wiring will let you no how l go legand with thanks
Nice video! Have problem with my Mondeo mk4 2010, 2l diesel. Was standing still for a winter, battery went out. And didnt want to start or crank after that. Was no problem when i parkt it. But now the immobiliser active. Some ideas?
Great video was very interesting 👍 power probes are good and have there place but u got to be 100 percent sure of circuit before hitting power button seen many times people at workshops hitting power button and they have know clue about electrics
Hi mate, have you seen this happen on focus 1.8TDCI engine? same symptoms really. Clocks had the multi plug re-soldered but no luck as these gave off these problems also so had it done anyway. So thinking either PCM itself or the wiring. The 3 connectors take the same sort of route and has a Y shape that i can see. That goes up into fusebox area also.
@Intelligent Auto I Have a 2008 mondeo 2.0 zetec tdci cranking but wont start followed your vid checked live feeds at pcm plugs i have live feed could you tell me what pin are the earth pins so as to check my earths on pcm plugs I have engine malfunction and alarm system service reqd and Immobiliser active on dash board
thank you so much this sounds like this is the same fault i have on my ford galaxy is it a common fault because i have no money to pay for it to be fixed and was going to sell the car for spears great video and explain so simply
hi have you had a mondeo 2.2 tdci with no power to nun 1 and nun 2 injectors ive checkes all wires ive even pind useing a meter to check for vlots and theres non
That must be kinda nice to be able to step in left foot 1st on a left hand steer, I've seen too many people try to start something with their right foot on a right hand steer and the vehicle moves without any feet to apply the brakes......
Having the same problem on my Volvo s40 diesel 2012. Flexed the cable from the fuse box and it at least starts and goes but it’s just temporary and i know i will have this problem later
Hi there dont suppose you would be able to give me any idea what this means? B10E7 ignition on relay Additional fault symptom: circuit short to ground Module: remote function actuator? Problem I'm having is car will start but then die straight away
Hi man, i ve ford mondeo 2013 2 l diesel auto Car is running fine just i have one problem When i driving car in the heavy rain engine swatched off by it self and then traction control light come on . When i try to start car again doesn’t start , until traction control light swatch off by it self then car start . But traction control light takes time to goes off may e 2 or 3 hours ? Do you have any idea about this problem i ‘d mach a appreciate
The steering wheel on the right side.... you say that but your engineers still think placing an ECU next to a wheel is a great idea too.... so yeah, there's that.
Great vid could I ask where abouts you are based? I have a problem with my mk4 mondeo where it would drive but cut out all of a sudden then sometimes the engine start button would work other times it wouldn't car is currently sat on the drive and soon as the engine starts it cuts straight back out I think it's deffo an electrical fault
Just found your channel. Ive got a similar fault on a 2003 Ford Transit Connect. Code readers wont connect through the obd and the van currently does nothing when you turn the key. Could do with someone like yourself to fix the problem. Dont suppose you are anywhere in or around Kent?
Very good video I have a problem with my Mondeo 2.0l 2007 petrol zetec bringing up to fault codes p0607 and p2110 . When you turn ignition on malfunction warning sounds immediately when engine is not running, It will start but misfires and does not rev properly tried the throttle body but still the same. It also brings up communcation issue with the ECU on the scanner. It had a new ECU four years ago when it would not start at all. Now same codes as before but starts and doesnt communicate or run properly. Any suggestion greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.
Thanks for the great find. It's funny as I watch some of your videos, more often now, you make mistakes in your speech and you start talking again like later you will edit the mistake out but forget it, suggestion as your camera is always near you, walk over and block the lens or wave at yourself, this means to edit the previous several seconds out LOL.

Nice seeing a mechanic who actually is seeking the fault, using common sense and step by step fault seeking, instead off just replacing parts 👍👍

Really love ur videos going over them all again have never seen the meter been used to give power like that before
Cracking video, always interesting to see people’s preferred methods of jointing a repair in difficult areas.
Thank you, we had similiar problem, and the wires broke in the same spot, big shoutout for you!
GREAT DIAGNOSTIC, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Just a quick question do the 2012 facelift models also break the wires or did ford mend it
@@kp-qr6hy Dunno, bridge the engine management relay and see if you can scan it for fault codes.

Excellent diagnosis and step by step fix. Well explained from start to finish. Will check out whether the ECU replacement did the job
Top job. Always interesting to find evidence of previous investigation....
That was a well presented video and audio thanks
Great video. No longer an active tech but nice to see solid diagnostics in practice. Subscribed
Very good wish I had that man around a few years ago in Ireland
Excellent diagnosis a pleasure to watch.

You are the man ,grate video,
Textbook diagnosis that. Good find. Had issue with Mondeo in that area of loom myself (no AC power) Bit of a water trap maybe?

Great skills
help, on my car there is no power (minus) to the glow plug relay. Where to look for a break?
Hi there.I really enjoy your work👍
Did you get the Mondeo going in the end.
I would be interested to hear.
Cheers
Rod
Yeh, repaired the broken wire, replaced the fried Ecu
How much does a ECU cost. My car 2010 is in the shop now. They said either wiring is the problem or a replacement computer
Great Job
Hi there dont suppose you would be able to give me any idea what this means?
B10E7 ignition on relay
Additional fault symptom: circuit short to ground
Module: remote function actuator?

We call that a contour in the US. We also place the steering wheel on the proper side. Good job. Keep it up
The steering wheel on the right side.... you say that but your engineers still think placing an ECU next to a wheel is a great idea too.... so yeah, there's that.

Some people should be banned from owning a power probe. Id put money on the first garage blowing that ecu by probing things they shouldn't.

No I used IDS to reprogram a used pcm
