    Hello trhere i have been following this build recently as I have a 2007 3.0r limited and planning to swap a 6spd in. You mentioned the spec b pallets being cheaper but no center diff. Would I be able to purchase the center diff separately (dccd pro/ iwire) if I wanted control over where that power goes? like in winter time for a little fun for e.g.

    • @SWSpeedCo
      @SWSpeedCo  8 місяців тому

      I'm not sure if that would work. It may be possible but what I do know is that a dccd is about 3500 to buy on its own so at that point you may as well buy the sti transmission.

    How strong are the 2.5i stock 6mt's? Are they similar with different gears? Hard to find an answer

    • @SWSpeedCo
      @SWSpeedCo  8 місяців тому

      I think they are as strong as the 5 speed transmission. They have the same split case design as the 5 speed so they flex a little bit. Probably around 350 whp. The sti 6 speed has thicker gears and a one piece case which makes it much stronger

  • @swoosh8474

    • @SWSpeedCo
      @SWSpeedCo  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, the legacy and outback are basically the same chassis just that the outback has a body lift. Other than that they are the same and this combination of parts would work on a legacy as well

      @@SWSpeedCo That's what i guessed, but i wanted to make sure. This is a list of all the parts you mentioned in the video and if you can can let me know what i've missed that would be helpful.
      - 2007 STI transmission
      - 2007 STI rear LSD
      - spec.B rear axles
      - LGT front axles
      - rear STI differential mount
      - clutch setup
      - reverse lockout
      - shifter for a spec.B
      - transmission crossmember for LGT (or is that only needed for the outback?)
      - STI 6-speed transmission mount
      - spec.B shift linkages (or add .38 inches to STI ones)
      - driveshaft from 4-speed auto legacy with r180 flanges instead of the r160 flanges it comes with
      - spec.B clutch hose

    • @SWSpeedCo
      @SWSpeedCo  7 місяців тому

      So it can be any year sti rear diff from 2007 to 2019 I think. As long as it has the correct final drive. The lgt transmission cross member was just for the outback application. For the rear diff you are actually removing the r180 flange and putting an r160 flange on the r180 diff so that you can use that driveshaft. Or you can buy a spec b driveshaft and it will bolt up to the r180. Other than that looks good, hope that makes sense.

But i believe if I get a set of coilovers meant for a STI, they should from all I've read work, and allow me to do a 114 swap easier and allow me to possibly use sti axels depending on length. If that wont work i understand, there is very little information on doing a hub swap on a Legacy. If all goes well I might start posting my progress on my 2nd gen.

    So you can just order a brand new 07+ STI transmission from a dealer?! 7K thö. Where'd you find the rear diff? I got this swap, 08, done on my 06 OBXT couple of months ago and the person that did it "overlooked" the tiny detail that the axles aren't locked into the rear diff. The circlips in the diff aren't there at all or are just can't lock into the groove in the axles. You can slide them in and out, by hand, of the diff by almost an inch AND I'm losing gear oil from the left axle port of the diff. I'm gonna get this issue resolved very soon but less than $10 in parts is gonna cost someone ELSE some $. I'm pretty pretty 😤.....

    • @SWSpeedCo
      @SWSpeedCo  Рік тому

      I dont think the rear has circlips on the axles. The one I pulled out of the r160 didn't have it, and the new spec b axles didn't come with circlips and the still locked in. I think you might just have to seat them In better. And I got the rear diff used from a guy who parts out stis. It came from a 2015 sti. All sti different from 2006 to 2021 use a 3.54 rear diff so you can get them from any new sti

Oh, and did I mention I discovered his "oversight" 2 days AFTER I drove 330+ highway miles back home? Consequently, I've not driven it for real cuz there's no diff dip stick so idk how much oil is left in it or the rate of oil loss and I refuse to get my hands dirty to find out cuz I spent clean $ AND rented a car (2020 OBXT; turbo that takes regular and the hands free "eyesight" feature is DOPE!) for a week for $304 to have the swap done minimally correctly.
