    Long before the word "crossover" existed, the Subaru Outback came into this world as a lifted Legacy, eventually evolving into a turbo-charged wagon with ground clearance and a strong 243HP 2.5L-liter engine. But this one is different. This one has a built engine, bigger turbo, and 460 meth-fed horses powering it to a camp site near you.

    POWER MODS:
    Blouch 1,5xt-r External waste gated with a Tial MV-r 44mm gate, rerouted to downpipe so it isn't obnoxious under full boost.
    Up-pipe/downpipe made by Ultimate Racing, probably the only outback/legacy gt with their kit. No mods needed to fit the WRX/sti kit.
    Closed Deck EJ255 with forged rods and pistons.
    ACT 6-Puck clutch
    Grimmspeed Top mount intercooler with hose for STI style turbo
    AEM fuel pump for e85 with 1300cc injectors
    Delicious Tuning flex fuel kit. Only company at the time that supported the Outback XT/Legacy GT platform.
    Tuned by Delicious also.
    AEM meth kit just as a safety measure.
    Still installed are smog controls and a Catalytic converter.
    Nameless Performance cat back exhaust with 5" mufflers.
    SUSPENSION:
    Up-rated bushings for whatever crosses over from a WRX and STI
    Under body chassis bracing
    Whiteline swaybars
    KYB struts with previous generation rear struts for slightly better rebound control. still a boat....
    Rallitek rear overload springs, because owner likes to carry stuff for biking and camping.
    Interior
    COBB Accessport and some gauges.

    My 07 OBXT is running on a custom suspension setup of Ground Control CoilOver Conversions 380in front and 400in rear. KONI struts. GD housing for the fronts and rear is LGT fitment. SPEC B arms in the front and upper in the rear. Still has factory bump stops. Whiteline lateral links in rear and roll center kit for the front with LGT brakes up front. I have a friend with alot of track and Subaru experience who has made a truly fun car to drive that is only riding at high stock legacy height, can take alot of weight in the hatch and doesn't need aftermarket sways to stay flat in the turns.

    Wow his looks almost exactly like mine lol. Cool video, I love that generation of Outback XT and wanted to do something similar to mine. The way I see it the car is a perfect Subaru WRX for people who want something that is a bit more grownup and with a nicer interior. I like the Outback over the Legacy because it pretty much comes stock with rally suspension, giving it more of a go anywhere ability without being a big heavy SUV. Probably one of the closest things you can get to a rally car for the road IMO.

    • @HallsoftheSummer
      @HallsoftheSummer 5 років тому

      Except for the STI of course

    • @mrjohnnyk
      @mrjohnnyk 5 років тому +1

      @@HallsoftheSummer The STI is the performance car for Subaru, and the engine is definitely tuned closer to a rally car, but the way the suspension is setup is for paved roads. A true rally car is all about having pumped up softer suspension to soak up those dirt roads, an STI isn't built for that. The Legacy was the original Subaru rally car before the Impreza and the Outback is closest thing they had to a car with a rally suspension setup. If you got it with the turbo flat-4 you could easily mod it to feel more lively since it is basically a WRX engine.

    Ok, not to hate (ironically, because of a further-down comment), because I really do love the car/build.
    But, 6,000 rpm clutch-drops sounds like something my 20 year-old nephew would do in his WRX (and, I'm sure he does).
    I had Cobb launch-control in my FXT, and even after only setting it to anywhere between 3,500-3,800 I still had to replace the trans bearings, later on. So, maybe just a word of advice: unless your planning on getting the trans rebuilt in the near-future, turn your LC down a few hundred (or a thousand, as 4,800 is still pretty high). Cheers!

    I was the owner of a 2004 wrx sti and only mod was a cat-back exhaust. At around 65,000 miles both head gaskets leaking. Even though it has a semi-closed deck block it just isn't enough for long term reliability.
    They should have used a closed deck block.

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  5 років тому +2

      In theory I get you, but the amount of editing time needed to delete a track when someone isn't talking would be huge. Sometimes I'll drop a track if one person talks a long time (Like Noel's camping story), but if the conversation is going back and forth really quick, it would be almost impossible.

      @@TheSmokingTire I don't know what everyone is complaining about. At least on my 2.1 speaker setup at work, I didn't even notice any audio issues it until I saw the comments. Having 2 mics has been my #1 request from OneTakes for years now. So many times either the car is too loud or the driver speaks too low, and the whole video I can only make out half the conversation. This video is proof-positive that two mics work. You can hear Noel loud-and-clear.
