    Bill paints a magnificent water reflection with a stunning cloudy sky. Lots of great techniques not only for creating clouds but also a reflection technique you can use in any of your paintings.
    Bill also shows you how to solve two annoying problems that can pop up in your painting. This is a simple painting but there is still a lot to learn!

    I love how he explains life by painting landscapes. This man has seen so much of life and had a very positive attitude on his shows. I`m thankful for this content on youtube since I haven`t had the chance to see him paint while he was alive.

    I had the honor of meeting and learning from Bill when he had his Salem warehouse. He taught me a little different as far as magic white goes. He said touch the canvas and make sure you can just see your finger print, not covered up. Just your finger print

      One time he was doing some clouds and emphasising how he had very little paint on his brush.
      With his back to the camera he said "Paint is your worst enemy!" I laughed out loud. He was the greatest!

    He was enough of a master that he could get by with fewer colors and the bare minimum of brushes. He could make a 2 inch brush paint as fine as a script liner brush. It's not just what tools you use but how you use it.

    It’s no wonder that Bob Ross became such a competent artist after learning from Bill . The master taught and the pupil became a master too . They each have a slightly different use of colour I think but they are both inspiring in their own way . Wonderful to watch and learn from them. I hope they have become good friends now in Paradise.

    I bit off more than I could chew with a nine canvas nanik for a corporate headquarters conference room.
    Never did such a large project.
    Feeling quite overwhelmed, I had no idea how I could pull of this huge work, and feeling like a fraud, I watched and recorded a few of Bills lessons.
    My biggest worry was the huge mountains I sketched and painted and did small demos on board.
    I was using acrylics, not oils.
    An Alexander show on PBS one afternoon filled me with confidence and power, and I went back to my studio ready to Fire in my mountains! Total success.
    Bill was the most 'Almighty Teacher' there ever was... in my opinion.
    Peace be with that wonderful man!
    I hope he is firing in stars and galaxies, and having a wonderful existence.
    Bless his soul.

      Tim Carney did you do the mountains using acrylic with the pallet knife adding highlights and shadows

    • @timrockman7
      @timrockman7 6 років тому

      No... I used a 2" flat bristle brush with thick acrylics. Completely different technique.

    • @timrockman7
      @timrockman7 6 років тому +1

      I watched him do his pallet knife mountains and intended to duplicate the effects with my 2" white hog bristle brush.
      What made this lesson vitally important to me was his way of telling me that I was "The Creator" of my work, and I can put a sun, lake or mountain anywhere I want!
      Or three suns if I desired.
      He empowered me, and I bless his soul!

    • @CliffLewis28
      @CliffLewis28 5 років тому

      Ayesha Mansur There are acrylic mediums that will slow the drying time. It's not quite as good as William's magic white, but it's close.

      I paint this style in acrylics ( no Magic White of course ). You have to work fast because they dry fast. Blending isn't as easy but you still get a beautiful painting.
