FIORDILIGI
Per pietà, ben mio, perdona
All'error di un'alma amante;
Fra quest'ombre e queste piante
Sempre ascoso, oh Dio, sarà!
Svenerà quest'empia voglia
L'ardir mio, la mia costanza;
Perderà la rimembranza
Che vergogna e orror mi fa.
A chi mai mancò di fede
Questo vano ingrato cor!
Si dovea miglior mercede,
Caro bene, al tuo candor.
Absolutetly the best version I"ve ever heard. She is a goddess. what a voice.
Magnificent.
Extraordinaire interprétation de Sally Matthews de ce dramatique air de cosi.
Brava 🎼🌷🌷🌷🌷🎼
Total tonal control. Superlative emotional engagement.
Have never seen better acting from an opera singer. Great emotion and I love her voice. Her physical beauty is a bonus. She is the standout performer in this production.
my fav.version
absolute stunning and impeccable
sublime and heavenly.der bogen of the whole aria is perfect:never before saw this intensity. her voice made fir this...just wonderful
She truly is a great Fiordiligi, judging from the vignettes of this kitsch but attractive production on UA-cam. This "Per pieta" just gave me goosebumps. If only the orchestra played better! It's fascinating to see Fiordiligi taking out the stuffing from her bras: the moment of raw honesty and self-revelation, indeed.
❤❤❤
I really think she is wonderful and it does not matter which production,faces and so on...it is just about the singing,the style(i dont agree with the portamento),but her pianissimo it is just for masters!
Perfect in every way.
stunning, in every way!
Absolutely stunning! I love the expansive tempo. She certainly had a great breath control to keep up with it. With a deluxe voice like hers, I'd tolerate "less brisk" tempos any time. I'm totally dreaming of her other big Mozart roles, Anna, Elvira, even Vitellia, I totally see it in her.
She is a wonderful singer. The next Kiri? I would like to think so. There are definite similarities in her voice.
I agree, sally is VERY attractive, and a superb singer-far better, but less well known, than Katherine Jenkins. I just wish Sally wound record more, and a TV appearance wouldn't go amiss!
I agree, she was outstanding in HMS Pinafore.
Wow. Damn. That is gorgeous singing and fierce commitment. (Even with the utterly strange staging.)
@juzzyfuzz
absolutely right, but this is what happens when using an original natural horn instead of a modern instrument...
and the strings!
Stunning soprano! Terrible pity about the French horn player(s).
@mjanes4 Amen.
Is there a full version of this recording somewhere on the net?
@hillevifan I must agree with you on Susan Chilcott's Fiordiligi. I did enjoy that production on UA-cam, and she is a fine world-class performer, but I felt her Fiordiligi was on a rather dull side. I must've felt just a little too afraid, I guess, to be critical at all on the deceased, but I'm just kinda glad I wasn't the only one that felt that way. LOL
She certainly has a great voice.
You can hear a strange early recording of hers by searching "12.09 Killing Time"
Here is her fan page: facebook.com/SallyMatthewssoprano/
why dont you put a pic of your face on your page for us to look at ...then we can comment on it!!!
This is gorgeous, but that crazy thing she does at the end in place of trills is just wacky and peculiar.
Bellissima voce ma lo spogliarello finale non e' dignitoso
she is marvellous , but the orchester horns not
ca !!! une soprano???
They made her look like a drag queen!
Women being exploited back in 2008, lets just enjoy the singing, why does she have to be exposing her body as well, the voice is enough for me
Can someone please explain to me why her clothes are falling off throughout the whole scene?
Yes she was being exploited I guess
@@joanhorsfield3941 god no, she wasn't exploited. The staging makes for her to dress fancy because she wants to seduce one of the newly arrived strangers. In this scene however she regrets that and misses her fiance, out of this feeling she wants to break out of that fancy shell...Fiordiligi goes through the most difficult and emotional phase in this moment of the opera, she is litterally torn apart by her affection on one side and the feeling of guilt on the other.
If she had more clarity she would be good.
She did Norma recently… 🤦🏻😳👎🏼
