One Piece (yes its long) but because of that, it becomes like a friend and ally to you over the time you spend watching it. The characters become friends. The story and themes weave their way into your mind and impact your everyday life. Im not even a big anime fan, but watching OP is one of the best deicisions ive ever made. It may be 100 years until we get THIS in depth of a story again.

one piece is one of the longest running anime, which is still going on until now.. as the time goes on one piece gets better and better... as well as the animation and the story... and what's even better now they will make a remake of one piece, so the old episodes of one piece will be animated in modern animation

Sort by started broadcasting and only count the ones that are still running as most of the others only ran for a few years. Though even by episode count OP makes place 16 in this list It's estimated that there are over 12000 anime series out there. So being place 8, 16 or even 100 in a ranking certainly counts. Being place 100 means we're still in the 0.8% of all animes. You have to have a quite strange metric to say "not even close". Most of the long running anime series started in the 90s with the exception of "Sazae-san"(1969) and "Soreike! Anpanman"(1988). So OP isn't that far away from the others in terms of how long the series is running. OP runs for 25 years and "Soreike! Anpanman" runs for 36 years, so about one third longer.
