- In this video viewers spend time with a 365 hp Challenger TG 8400B that is spreading lime. Big Tractor Power take's you up in the cab of this big Terra Gator applicator to talk with the operator about the technology that allows his machine to apply lime at 12 mph in the field on a 60ft spread pattern.

That’s me leading the fleet at the end of it in the Silverado. Good times when I worked for Agri-Chem.
WoW BTP. You are a gluten for finding everything that can be of interest to your subs! I am truly in awe of the dedication you put into your channel and to your subs! Best damn hard working man I have seen! THANK YOU!

I've spread quite a bit of lime and other than the cloud of dust doesn't look like much but it takes a lot of power to haul and sling that heavy lime that wide of a pattern at that speed ! Wish we had just a little of that dry here ! Thanks for the video !
The Terra Gator is Awesome. Glad to see another AGCO Brand in a video. That would be fun to drive.
I ran a spreader for a while. What a blast. Hauling the mail at 15 to 20 mph was pretty fun I must say. Thanks for a great video. Always enjoy them!
Jason, With as much time as you spend filming there, I'm surprised that they haven't put you on the payroll.
Great video as always , thanks Jason
That case loader sounds mean and looks great too somebody took care of it. Nice video 👍
I've had them on my farm and know how they worked but until today I've never been in the cab or really know how they worked. Thanks to you today i have you sure made my day.
I think your lucky most women don't hang out the laundry if some farm wife seen that dust heading for her clean laundry I'm thinking there would be trouble. Thanks
The lime that they were spreading was awfully dusty. The lime our farmers use has some moisture to it so it's not dusty. You see very little dust when it's being applied. Good video BTP 👍
Great video! Awesome piece of equipment! Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome weekend!
Great video, that Case loader looks and sounds sweet 😎
I’ve never seen lime make dust like that but then again different regions of the country. Can’t say I really cared for those 8400b’s though.
Cool putin out the lime🚜👍
I new you change colors all i had do was ask . Lol good video
Gee,after this wet wet fall it’s nice to see some dusty dust!!
Now that’s spreading lime !!!!!!!
Did you give a price for the Terra Gator?
That thing hauls some tail...lol.!!!
Cool I run the same machine in Illinois
Sounds like a Melody...
I hope you were wearing a breathing mask lol..........
Much faster & smoother than the 3 wheeler. $250,000.00 US to spread fertalizer. That set up can cover a lot of ground fast...
That’s pretty cool super fast
😁👍
There is one of these in Glasgow ky great looking spreader
Very cool. I film in that area from time to time.
@@bigtractorpower I live Beckton in Glasgow lot of corn and soybean around here I seen a durzfur tractor hauling hay yesterday frist time ever seeing one just video of them good looking tractor
Great video, I am sure AGCO have a spreader that any farmer would like to have, even if you are a hard core JD fan......or is there other branded types
@alec4950 alec4950 Thanks Alec
I've run terra gators, case, and Deeres. The terra gator would be my last choice
@@33jcut If they used the same cabs as the Challenger/Fendt 1000 fixed frames, that would go a LOOONG way to improving these machines. Even in this video, this is no doubt one of the noisiest cabs that Jason has filmed in in recent memory(among what my head can recall of the last few months of uploads anyway).
The king kong ag brands are just committed to following the automotive industry's lead on drastically improving user comfort and perceived quality, while the "more traditional" you might say, companies like Terra are still making old school industrial machines that are overbuilt everywhere, while being stripped clean with only the minimal of standard driver assists in contemporary ag equipment, so as to reduce cost where ever possible.
That said, the dealer network, and the "one brand of battery" so to speak(cordless power tools - no one wants to pay for 10 different batteries and chargers; just give up and buy one brand) aspects of the, say, top 5 market share leaders is still likely the greatest factor that will dictate sales of these more niche machines.
Hi sir! Can u show when and how put fertilizers in to the soil ?
Some guys do fall application some do spring application. With dry you can inject it into the ground, spin it on with a machine like this. Or you can apply it with a planter. Then liquid can be dribbled, injected, or sprayed on in a foliar application during the growing season. Then there is anhydrous which is injected in fall or spring. Point being there is about a million different ways, types, times that guys apply it.
@@33jcut With BTP doing a basic breakdown video of the difference ways/types/methods of tillage a while ago, maybe a basic breakdown of fertilizing could be used. It's certainly as varied and with as many theories as what surrounds tillage these days, between moldboards seemingly disappearing, no-till & vert-till really making an impact, the more traditionalists that may need to break up compaction with sub-soiling, so no and so forth.
Cool they spreading like they mean it
👍👍
Dolimite just dont like wind. but you can get it in small lumps that look like superphosphate, it won't blow away
Are they spreading hi mag or hi calcium lime? Why not spread damp lime? No dust. I used to spread on golf courses with damp hi mag lime.
Probably has to do with cost ?
Jason, how often do they spread lime? Is it a reckoning or is it after a soil test? Cool vid, thanks. I enjoyed watching.
Farmers usually apply lime and other nutrients(nitrogen, phosphorus, etc) based on field tests. From my experience spreading manure is a little more by reckoning
@@anthonydevito4450 Thanks Ed.
👍👍
He must be putting out better than a ton to the acre
How many ton will it carry. Great video.

Eastern Iowa could sure use the dry conditions that western Kentucky experienced.
Everyone is struggling. Those kentucky boys haven't had rain for months
@@tctarheelfarmin358 no rain for months??what is that like????
What is the tonage will is machine carrier in the field

Is pelletized lime more expensive than the powder ? Thanks, thumbs up.
I don’t know. I like spreading the pelletized on my lawn. 😁
@@bigtractorpower, Yes, me too.
@@augustreil yes pelletized is more expensive
@@33jcut, I figured that. Even in the big box stores it's more. Can't imagine the difference when you're buying tons at a time ? Probably thousands ?
Want to know more about terra gators, our family has over 30 years of experience with ag chem, we currently run a 9205 and a 3104 both with German tebbes, send me a message should you ever want to film these machines
I take it that this is on Garnett Farm
Whats the purpose of limestone thanks
Elyen Elyen It adjusts the pH in acidic soils. Allows better nutrient uptake.
Kirk Gibbs thanks...
I mentioned in the video towards the end it balances the acidity level in the soil and helps plants grow better.
Green Acres! Can you picture BTP doing a segment at the Douglas Farm?
Not sure that the people like that limesone dust
what a dust.
Are you (they) aware of granular lime? It is brown in color and has the consistency of coffee grounds. I'm pretty sure it also has higher Mg & other minerals to add to the soil. And it will not cloud up while spreading like shown in this video. Great video. Thanks for all your hard work.
I think it's way more expensive, least that's what I was told.
Used it on fields of turfgrass. I think it is more accurate & efficient when it comes to spreading/application.
@@glencaple3888, I agree and I said the same to a different farmer and that was his response, that pelletized was way too much money.
Pig pen from the peanuts
Farmers in my area spread Turkey manure in the fall and boy do I hate it. I can stand the thickest cow or pig stink but that Turkey stink is just terrible
Yup thats it, spread my lime so it all blows to the neighbors field. Great use of money
Good lord, with the wind drift you’re liming your neighbor’s fields! Around these parts the phone lines to the county would be lighting up because of that cloud of dust. Why not be more effective and use pelletized lime? Less dust and a better application.
Cost I was told, pelletized being much more.
DRIFT ANYONE ???
