I played CR back since late 2016 around Thanksgiving and was lots of fun cuz I was playing with people from my HS and others in the US. My go-to deck was a Hog Rider with Zap/Log Bait and I made card combos like Valk+Rider and my favorite combo of all (because I played it well) the "5 Elixir Combo" which was Goblin Barrel + Fire Spirits. I timed the placement so if my opponent had previously used Zap or Log to counter my Minions and Skelly army, it would deal tons of damage. I would sometimes start the battle like that, taking opponents by surprise... I think around 2020 or 2021 I stopped playing as much. I only logged in once a year or so whenever I felt curious to see what's changed etc. I was sad that Fire Spirit lost his 2 other homies :( I'll always remember the good ol days...
The single fire spirit that is able to *fully counter* a goblin barrel for two positive elixir trade was really insane and was an extremely sad day for goblin barrel mains
A really big issue the triple fire spirits is that sometimes they would jump onto an enemy that was already going to die from one of their brothers. This came from an issue with the general AI of clash royal where troops will leave an enemy as dead if the finishing attack is already coming its way, but this doesn't count toward an enemy dying from a splash attack. It made the fire spirits far too inconsistent in getting the actual splash that you wanted from them because they would all kill themselves on the same few troops. Changing the card to one fire spirit helped solve this issue.
With that argument, the Ai issue could be fixed instead of making a complete rework on the card. Personally not against nor do I support the rework instead of the change to AI, But I think it could be noted that to most people, the reason fire spirits were unique, even when compared to other spirits, was that it had 3 spirits instes of just a single spirit like Heal Spirit or Ice Spirit. It's a tiny change, and even when the stats of the card were changed to make the stats the same as the old 3 spirits, it's still very different as it means that it "technically" is less tanky to single-shot enemies like Musketeers. Not to mention, with the recent newer cards like Electro Dragon and other AOE/Splash DMG cards, it's still a wonder on what would've happened if Fire Spirits still had 3 spirits instead of being changed to 1.

Imagine if after hit unit have a burning effect, and burning will apply to others if they contact with other units. Burning should dealt enough damage to kill swarms fast, but not do too much to match fireball dmg. And I think burning should have dmg reduction for tower just like spells or no damage to not make 1 elixir walking fireball
Evolutions make thing weird in this area because they require additional resources to acquire, limiting their impact on midladder to at least some extent.
Havent played clash royale for a while but they removed the other two? Thats what made it unique from the other spirits. One froze, one chained lightning, one healed, and one did big damage and had 3 to do even more damage
I used to send a miner to the tower with a hog rider. They'd think the miner was moving to the hog rider's tower, but actually, I would always send fire spirits along with the miner. Deeply underestimated card
I really miss the old Fire Spirit trio. My main deck for years has been a Golem Night Witch Clone deck with Fire Spirits, Zap, and Log. With those cards plus Dart Golbin, I was able to deal massive damage against any push and cloning a full Fire Spirit Trio with (old) Night Witch and Golem just deatroyed full towers in seconds and that just doesn’t happen anymore. I never replaced Fire Spirit because it doesn’t have a replacement but the entire deck feels less powerful and not being able to beat things like E Golem or Barbarians easily really hurts, but again, there was never a replacement. Maybe one day they'll add a card that worked like old Fire Spirits
Something I remember from the 2 elixir firespirits, I think this was a rounding error but at lvl 9 - 13 the firespirits would actually survive on 1 HP (going against equal level tower) and at lvl 8 and lower they would die in one shot. Idk how many people caught this but I found out while playing ladder at this time.

Honestly, I think they should make a return to add the firespirit’s fellow friends. Both the cannoneer and the dutchess (2 of the most used tower troops) fully counter firespirit making both the firespirit and the furnace COMPLETELY useless. Every firespirit spawned by the furnace get killed by the new tower troops and the normal firespirit is….. well, his intention to chip the tower down has completely been forgotten because of this now. I would like for the firespirit to have both his friends come back again, I like the firespirit and seeing it in this state now, it just makes the freaking heal spirit look better now.
Bruh in my opinion fire spirits plural was the best cheap card for dealing with swarms, even if under leveled it was so fun to play but just having 1 fire spirit makes me honestly annoyed even seeing a fire spirit in the game, to me supercede killed 2 cards with 1 stone, furnace and spirits. I also hate seeing competitive get the most attention it's killed so many cards.

I really miss the 3 spirits. I liked splitting them in the back so I could set up a 2 lane push with hog rider and mini pekka with zap in hand to take out the minions that the single spirit hit. Got me to legend trophy range

Removing the 2 extra fire spirits killed my deck at the time I used to also have the following in my deck: Elite Barbs, Valkyrie, Mirror, Skeleton army, Miner, Wizard, & Fireball (mid-ladder, mainly as my other cards were weak and needing serious work to level up to become competitive) At the time there were a lot of balloon decks, and using mirrored fire spirits killed them without receiving any tower damage when the opponent went for a big push, with troops in support (eg. with troops like mini pekka hidden under the balloon, and meaning they were all killed, not just the balloon). They were also very useful as a cheap, effective and quick to deploy unit in support of my Valkyrie Elite Barbs push. The move to 1 spirit made them ineffective in my deck, my win rate plummeted and so i had to find an alternative and meant i haven't played fire spirits since.
It probably would have made the card overpowered but they could gave made ot so when they die it leaves embers on the ground that do a small amount of damage over time for a short amount of time
I loved old fire spirits. I wish I got it back every day. Like yeah OK funny now it does more damage. But before that they would destroy larger swarms. Take down guards. Survive a few hits from ranged units. Pushed larger troop more efficiently. Etc etc. It was just more fun.
I think that it is time for a 9th card in the deck. A spirit slot. They all cost 1 elixir, the rest 3 could get an Evo and once every 10 second you would be able to play it
The old fire spirits were secretly the strongest card in the game, and nobody knew. When they reworked the card, it ruined the niche fire spirits filled in my deck, and no other card was able to fill that role. For me, the fire spirit rework was the beginning of the end for Clash Royale

As a CR Veteran since nearly the release of the game, I remember them being in like every deck since their release up until 2019. For us casual and non high ladder players it was basically THE essential card to have in every game as they were the perfect counter to everything with mass and can be "reserved" by being placed, so spell bait didnt work as well
i remember back when i was still playing few years ago, my most fun strategy, no matter if win or not, was mirror furnace clone fire spirit and everything else was 1/2/3 elixir card i just builded up furnaces in the back with perfect timing to make them all spawn spirits at the same time, making enemy play tower deffence litterally, it wasnt 2 spirits, back then he had waves of kamikazes running into his tower, that i double cloned when the time has come it was always so fun to play it and see the tower get oneshotted by army of kamikadzes

It probably would have made the card overpowered but they could gave made ot so when they die it leaves embers on the ground that do a small amount of damage over time for a short amount of time
I loved old fire spirits. I wish I got it back every day.
Like yeah OK funny now it does more damage.
But before that they would destroy larger swarms. Take down guards. Survive a few hits from ranged units. Pushed larger troop more efficiently. Etc etc. It was just more fun.

I think that it is time for a 9th card in the deck. A spirit slot. They all cost 1 elixir, the rest 3 could get an Evo and once every 10 second you would be able to play it

The old fire spirits were secretly the strongest card in the game, and nobody knew. When they reworked the card, it ruined the niche fire spirits filled in my deck, and no other card was able to fill that role. For me, the fire spirit rework was the beginning of the end for Clash Royale
I know what you meant. When they reworked them they were the highest level card in my whole card collection it felt like a waste of time with basically the glue to my deck getting deleted

As a CR Veteran since nearly the release of the game, I remember them being in like every deck since their release up until 2019. For us casual and non high ladder players it was basically THE essential card to have in every game as they were the perfect counter to everything with mass and can be "reserved" by being placed, so spell bait didnt work as well
There is NO way this guy yaps about fire spirit for 33 minutes straight. It's not that deep.
I always played it with hog, when it were still 3, so good against many hog counters like minion horde
The old fire spirits were my favourite card by far, my first ever maxed card a few months after they released. Now it feels so crappy at least to me.

i remember back when i was still playing few years ago, my most fun strategy, no matter if win or not, was mirror furnace clone fire spirit and everything else was 1/2/3 elixir card
i just builded up furnaces in the back with perfect timing to make them all spawn spirits at the same time, making enemy play tower deffence litterally, it wasnt 2 spirits, back then he had waves of kamikazes running into his tower, that i double cloned when the time has come
it was always so fun to play it and see the tower get oneshotted by army of kamikadzes
I feel like a way to buff it now is to make it into two fire spirits
I played clash royale in 2016 and 2017, stopped and then came back only this year, so seeing the ice spirit in such a weak position here 25:47 is so insanely weird to me, i was flabbergasted 💀
