- Visine is good for the eyes, not so good for the tummy. In this aul video we are gonna look at a number of stories of people who almost got away with slipping some in drinks, but thankfully didn't. From Lena Clayton to Jesse Kurczewski, all wanted something and thought regular eye drops were the ticket.

14:39 it’s amazing how murderers are soooo bad at taking their own lives
What an excellent point.
Equally as amazing are those lucky ones like Jennifer Pan or the women whos name slips my mind where someone broke in the house murdered her two children and gave her a superficial cut on the arm or Jennifer whose parents were assassinated and her left tied up loosely enough to get to her cell phone.

A friend of mine was getting strangely sick every day, for weeks. When on a solo vacation, they recovered 100%. Back home, the sickness returned. Figured out later after the spouse left for good one day that it was probably Visine related. It was everywhere. Maybe the spouse chickened out or maybe had a change of heart, but once gone, my friend was never sick like that again. 👀
Jesus. I'm glad your friend turned out okay.
The visine didn’t work as they had hoped
I'm glad they made it out. So crazy!
@@celestialfox9282 Made it out with a ton of alimony, no contest. We were thinking that was probably what the ex spouse was hoping to avoid. Lucky, because we never thought of it until later after hearing a news story about it. Same symptoms, bottles of it in places you wouldn't expect... yikes.
Omg! So scary.
"Eye drop dead" has gotta be one of the best titles of a true crime video I've ever seen.

I know a girl who’s friends played a “prank” on her at a sleepover and thought putting Visine in her drink would give her diarrhea but she ended up having serious seizures and now has epilepsy and can not work, drive, or live on her own. She’s now in her late 20s. It ruined her life.
Those kids didn’t know the harm they were doing but it is so dangerous. Poor girl will never be independent because of a “prank” her friends pulled in middle school.
Had same thing happen to me in HS. My friends did it to me thinking I would get diarrhea. I didn't, I threw up though. I'm happy looking back this never happened to me. Poor girl 😢
We were always told that when you pissed off a bartender, that’s what they’ll do is slip some visine in your drink and make you schyit yourself. It’s still terrible they did that but i can see how they thought it’d be harmless. We’ve all heard the stories of ex-lax in the brownies and we all laugh about it. Looking back, it shouldn’t never be funny to deceive anyone and put stuff in their food that they don’t know about
This is total BS. Visine poisoning can cause seizures, but it's not going to magically make the person epileptic.
@@13ritneyanne don't worry, it's a fake story. It's scientifically impossible for Visine poisoning to magically make someone epileptic.
so, are people who have serious reactions to visine... allowed to use them as actual eye drops? Back in school we used to drip that shit into our eyes daily so the teachers don't see our red eyes from smoking weed before school, almost always carried a bottle in my sock. Nobody I know ever had a reaction.
She was so quick in saying “I know he puts it in his coffee!” What an absurd statement! Did she really think the police were going to believe that he was voluntarily poisoning himself? 🙄 Oh, and if she had really been trying to kill herself, she wouldn’t have put a note on the door. The only remorse she has is that she got caught.
Oh Yeah, exactly. When a person is found guilty and they start snotting everywhere while verbally vomiting their "apology" it's always with a "but" inserted and sewage mouth on how they are a victim... I have never heard a statement to the court that sounds genuine (and doesn't sound like "Im sorry I got caught") and puts themselves at 100% fault. Nasty piece of work, this vile disease...!
That's what Diane Staudte said after she killed her husband and son and attempted to kill her daughter too; that they were all putting the antifreeze into their own drinks on purpose. Nobody believes that rubbish 🤨
I think at that moment she was trying for a hail Mary.

Fun fact. Repeated and over use of eye drops to “get the red out” is a really bad idea. Red eyes are generally the result of swollen blood vessels and the eye drops contain an ingredient that shrinks the blood vessels so the redness is reduced. When the shrinking process wears off the blood vessels become larger leading to a viscous cycle of repeated eye drop use with no actual benefit. Oh and love ya Mike!
good to know. thanks for the info 👍
Sounds like a good business model for Visine.
Ok shit well wish I knew that before 😂 I have to use it like 3 times a day now my eyes get red alot
@@natalierichardson9175 you can try regular wetting drops. They will sooth the dryness and irritation, without constricting the blood vessels. I would think eventually the redness will settle down. The eye has an amazing way of healing fairly fast.

Very Simple:. There should be NEVER be a Life Insurance payout without an Autopsy.

I am from South Africa, and here eye drops are often used to incapacitate a woman in a club, and then taken advantage off. I had my tequila shot spiked with eye drops and it was hell as soon as I had done the shooter. Luckily my best friend, and a male friend were there to help me. It was so bad that I could not even walk. In some clubs they search your purse for eye drops, and if found it gets confiscated

An interesting sidelight about Visine. Back in the 60's we would have Visine Parties. A Visine Party consisted of a few people who would take Acid or Some other psychedelic and squirt Visine at each other. Why? You might ask. Because under a Black light, it shows up fluorescent Yellow and when you squirt it across the room it's a pretty Flashy sight.. The best thing about it was that the room looked a total mess under the Black light but the Visine was invisible, in any other light.
Seriously?! I can't wait to host my first Visine Party now.
Laundry detergent also glows under black lights. My brother and his friends would paint on his bedroom walls with detergent under the black light as teens. One day my mom saw it all and made them scrub the walls lol.

When someone dies in a suspicious manner (like this case of a young, healthy woman who was fine then the next moment she's dead on the sofa 🤔) the spouse shouldn't have the option of refusing an autopsy. Just the refusal of an autopsy should be a huge red flag. Wouldn't a husband want to know why his healthy, young wife who wasn't sick just up and died all of a sudden?
I know at least some flavors of Judaism refuse autotopsies for religious reasons, so preventing ppl from refusing is a dicey issue.
100% right. This is something we should be campaigning to get passed
It should be enforced very sparsely. Think about what it means to enforce it-- the government is physically taking away and cutting up the bodies of people's loved ones against their will.
@@jaynenunya6070 more religions that just Judaism also try to refuse autopsies but when it comes to the law it shouldn't matter. It is a frequent happening in suspicious deaths and often the bodies are exhumed after the fact and proven to be homicidal. Should been given an autopsy in the first place. Religion is used as an excuse far too often.
I see no reason why, when a spouse refuses an autopsy, blood and tissue samples can't be taken before the burial or cremation.
Should really be done for any sudden death.

I remember learning that a small little bottle like Visine could kill you and it was weirdly terrifying to think a tiny little bottle was so deadly.
I remember the Lana story and thank god for the victims nephew who recognized that something was very wrong and pushed for an investigation.
No one should use Visine, it's awful for your eyes. The active ingredients in Visine cause retinal blood vessels to physically shrink. After prolonged use those blood vessels can permanently enlarge, causing your red eye to look even worse. This is called rebound hyperemia, or rebound effect. Your eyes can become addicted to these drops. It is a vicious cycle of using your drops, worsening your red eye symptoms all the time.

I used to work as a pharmacy tech, and I've always wondered why Visine is still sold over the counter. I mean, there's a risk with any OTC drug if it's taken incorrectly, but it's a lot harder to kill someone will an overdose of advil or tylenol. Even something like benadryl, you're most likely going to notice a difference in taste or smell if someone puts a lot into your drink. But visine is has no smell and is apparently tasteless, and it has such dangerous effects if used incorrectly. It seems like it should at least be sold behind the counter, if not require a prescription. It's kind of scary how easy it is to get a medication that can cause such damage.
Awesome video! I don't know if I've ever commented, but I've watch every video on this channel, and I get excited anytime I see a new one posted. Keep up the good work!
And if you use too much visine in your eyes, your eyes stop lubricating themselves. Girls in high school with contacts or allergies who used it all day had this problem. They were total nerds, they weren’t weed smokers lol. I’m sure of it.
It’s not completely tasteless, but it is a taste than can easily be masked by coffee, orange juice, etc, etc. I had it go in my mouth by accident when I was a teen. I get real scared putting anything near my eyes, so my dad was putting the drops in, I flinched and well, they ended up in my mouth instead lol. First woman was a nurse, second guy was a paramedic. You’d think they would know better than to use something so common and traceable as Visene.
This statement is the most disturbing one for me. I believe that their professions actually tip them off to how rare it is that they actually specifically test for it. Not all people will report symptoms properly, especially if they're trying to murder that person, so it might not be specifically tested for in general screens, or even ordered at all.
@@jamestriche5480 but if you are in a healthcare profession…you know there are plenty of other ways to kill and not ever be caught. Using eye drops would not be one of them. Any chemical such as that can be tested for.

I agree 💯. They are definitely the best content creators/story tellers on UA-cam. They both have their own podcast channel now too.
I've been drinking a drop a day for the last 20 years to build up immunity.
Because you’re a planner 💯
@@lauriewilson4741 😄 good one
You're supposed to gradually increase the dosage.
@@OneEyedJack1970 ironically, person named “One EyedJack giving Visine dosage advice 🤯
@@OneEyedJack1970 so..if you're one eyed jack, do you only take half a dose? Seems logical.
He stayed with her after she shot him in the head with a crossbow, and after his death she is trash talking his character?!?! That is a real piece of work for you right there
She is more like something that should have been flushed.
I used to live in Fowlerville. You have now done a story in every place I've lived except my current place.
Loving this format of discussing a few cases under one topic! Would love to hear an antifreeze one too!
Omg the life insurance dance! Totally caught me off guard during this serious story. Love Mike ❤ he cracks me up while delivering quality videos.
my favorite lol!!
It's incredibly disrespectful every single time. He does a little dance when people get murdered for money.
@mallory ….Ditto

I can’t wrap my head around this. It’s like watching someone being nabbed for shoplifting shoes by sticking them inside their teeshirt, seeing them get actually arrested - and thinking, “What an ingenious way to steal! These guys have another branch just a few miles away, I think I’ll go there and stuff some shoes into my own teeshirt, tee hee!”
Some real Carolina style activity, you do have to admit
Staci was a friend of mine, we went to school together. Pretty sure he had been trying to "get rid of her" for a while. She had to have a pacemaker in her late 20s with no prior heart problems or sickness. Also recently he had called the police claiming ge was kidnapped by staci's parents or someone they hired. They found out it was eye drops that killed her because she was an organ donor and before they had her funeral and her body cremated the hospital took samples of her blood. So after her mother begged the police to do something because she found out about the life insurance, they remembered about the blood samples. So thats how they got a toxicology report. Sorry for the long post! I love your channel!!
This is probably one of my favorite UA-cam channels. Murder, mystery, but at the same time you make me laugh so much! Love it!
It's amazing how you tell a story and am glued to the screen from start to finish
Coffeehouse crime is also good! Love Mike and Adrian.
Literally my favourite youtuber. The channel has grown so much and you deserve all the success and recognition you're getting!
Also...the life insurance dance is everything. 😊 keep going Mike! Cos we love ya x
Well this aul one, hits a tad bit different. I'm living slap in between these two cases.
Btw, Insurance Dance can't get enough. Go into every video hoping that it's an insurance case hahaha.
Thanks Mike!!!
I have seen what feels like all of mikes videos and still don’t know the origin story of the epic life insurance drunken dance rave party
but HEKKK I wanna be at that party 🎉
he needs to upload a stand alone clip of it. it's very unlikely, but I would love if I could use it in a real life instance
@Christen Fields
I, too, love the insurance dance. I often replay it and laugh out loud. Love Mike!
You need likes or something? Because I can give you some if that’s what you’re looking for.
i scrolled down to the comments looking for a comment like this, because I feel the same. And I want a full version of Insurrance Dance , 10 hours long, please.
My husband’s ex tried killing him doing this but luckily he figured it out. She would slip it into his iced tea he would leave in the fridge. Once he started only bringing home unopened drinks and sleeping less at her house, he would feel better.
Some of these poisoners have gotten clever enough to contaminate drinks or food without having to open the can or the package. Glad she is out of his life!
Thanks! I have been watching u since u only had only 100K subscribers and I brag about u and ur channel every chance I get. Keep up the amazing research, dedication, determination, and compassion for ur audience because we appreciate u more than u can ever know
Anna that means so much to me, thank you for sticking around so long. I can't thank you enough!!
He almost never replies to comments, but give him a couple of dollars and he's anybody's!! 😁

It’s a scary thought that both of these murderers worked in the medical field entrusted with the well-being of patients.
I want to know the story behind the captains hat and the guitar.
The wink… ahhhh
I think a good while back in the old days Mike used to do a conspiracy episode and it was captain conspiracy, maybe, seems to ring a bell, there was also a genuine tin foil hat involved too i seem to remember.
@@sweeneytodd011 Thx! Mike is one funny guy.
Yes Mike beginning on UA-cam was not crime per se. He investigated conspiracy theories and other stuff. Scroll to the beginning, my first episode was Chrisvids. Mike is the best on youtube! I loved the Captain!
He put it in his coffee on his own everyday? Lady do you expect us to believe that
I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was another collection like the hitman one you did and boy, what a bunch of crazy stories you got here. Thank you once again for the entertainment 😃
I love how in these eye drop murder stories, the murderer always claims they put eye drops in their drinks on purpose like they're abusing it like a drug. When it literally has nothing but negative side effects. If you dont have to show your ID to buy it then the idea that people are abusing it is bullshit.
big respect for the teach who understood the severity of the situation but also understood that the kid most likely thought it was just a prank
just nice to see that not everyone wants to jump to the conclusion that everyone is evi/has bad intentions
But her appearance gives off the cruel teacher vibes.
But the kid saw how sick she was getting for days and still continued to do it…? Yeah sure
It probably embarrassed her.
SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A SEARCH WARRANT FOR KIDS PHONE AND COMPUTER lol - says jan 6th insurrectionists who deflect from reality.
I remember watching Wedding Crashers in theaters and thinking the scene with the visine was terrible to include in the movie, because I knew visine could be lethal instead of just causing diarrhea, and I also knew that 98% of moviegoers probably did not
Besides the stories being horrific, Mike is capable of making me laugh, the insurance "get your rocks off" montage to the trying to get eye drops in his eyes and gets his mouth instead....love ya Mike. Thanks for the consistent high quality videos!
People like him are seriously important for society, being an entrepreneur is a different mindset that's incredibly foreign from what most of our parents teach us, so someone that can help you through the initial trials and tribulations in the beginning is a godsend.
4:46 nice it's always sunny reference
I love how the reporter for the helicopter incident gets his name right first, then calls him huntsucker like the next sentence haha.
I can hear my son listening to Mike in the other room probably the happiest moment ever!!
Yay! Keep it up! Also please never change music- it fits so perfectly with your witty narrative. Happy week all!

I truly enjoy your videos. I am slowly digging through all the old ones too and I must say you are one of my favorites! Thank you for creating such excellent content!
You keep me in such a good mood while sitting here donating plasma your videos take my mind off the freaking huge needle in my arm lol...thanks Mike you are great
In CA you get money for giving plasma but my veins are bad and I would always vomit so I stopped. I don’t know why I had to mentioned this
My Favorite Story teller back at it again!! When I hear the intro music playing and "Hello my name is Mike" I already know it's going to be an amazing story!!!! Thanks for all the hard work and dedication you put into each and every video!!! They truly make my week after a long day of work.....
Wait, he heard a story about someone getting caught for poisoning with Visine because it can be detected in the blood and went "That's a good idea!"? I think he's been sipping the Visine himself :P
he thought he wb free and clear bc of his wife’s cremation, and was too, but for her organ donation and all.
Haha exactly what I thought 🤦♀️ not the sharpest tool in the shed
Hey you!!!! Thank you for always keeping up on the creepiest stories. Be safe all
As a supporter of the “just a prank” narrative. I was born in 1984 and until I watched this video I had no idea it was deadly, and I know my urban legends and Memes, I just thought I gave you the shits. I’m glad I never Pranked anybody and went to prison 😂
Mike, listening to you tell a story is like soothing therapy to me... Never mind the topic 😊

Nothing says innocent like trying to off yourself right after the cops start asking ya a bunch of questions…
I don't disagree generally, but I will say that if you _were_ a person who was genuinely unaware that Visine would do anything more than give someone diarrhea, then put it in your spouse's drink because you were mad and they died the next day, it wouldn't be a totally insane response.
That said, she definitely knew, did it on purpose, and was trying to escape the consequences of her actions.

Though, despite your detailed critique, I'm not actually sure what's objectionable about the two things I said:
1) If one discovered they'd accidentally killed the person they love most in the world, it might drive them to contemplate suicide.

2) I don't think Lana did it by accident.

MY HUGE CONCERN: how many small children have swallowed eye drops & maybe died ???
--- i raised 3 children & i never knew this danger !
i had eye drops in my bathroom throughout my life ! wow !!!
Yeah it’s not something I’ve ever thought of as particularly deadly, unlike antifreeze, tide pods, and other cleaning supplies. It’s good Mike is bringing awareness to this danger.
@Hereandthere andnowinyourface lol I’m sorry if we’ve disappointed you on an intellectual level. We will try to do better.
I have never heard of eye drops being a huge risk to children. The cases on here were of prolonged deliberate poisoning.
This is a crime documentary not a hidden dangers of your bathroom cabinet documentary!
The POOR knowledge level from some of the commentators on here is staggaring!
I would hope eye drops would be kept in a cabinet, along with other medications, out of reach of tiny hands. But maybe that’s just in my house.
I was an Occupational Therapist. Many years ago we had an elderly gentleman recovering from eye drop poisoning. His own son poisoned him. Why? Because his dead beat , drug taking son and son’s girlfriend were asked to vacate his home. The son and his girlfriend wanted to gentleman to die so they could have his home.
Oh Val... I'm an ancient ICU nurse. I've seen some discussing things family did. While their " loved" ones scrambled like rats as they lay incapacitated on life support. Unbelievable! Philadelphia USA
Wow! I hope that he left his son a dollar in his Will, and nothing else! The son, and his gf, should have gotten a new free home.. In prison!
As a North Carolina Native, I can confirm the shelves should be cleared in BOTH Carolinas of any substances that can be slipped into your beverage.
Man the carolinas need to just ban anything that could poison, injured, kill, or debilitate in any way. I live In NC also, town less than 18k people. There are gun shots every night, drug bust every day, and poisonings or assaults every week. God help us all. 🇺🇸
@@zevalastlegion4228 Not just the Carolinas. I don't know WHY people want to focus on just one state to criticize.
